I had originally placed an order for an all-clad cop-r-chef pot at $129 along with a global 8" chef knife at $77. Both were listed as free shipping and garaunteed delivery before xmas as they were both going to be gifts. I received a confirmation email that my order was being proccessed that day.
I had also at this time been placing alot of orders recently for xmas gifts and parts to an xmas computer and was already having various problems with some vendors like SVCompucycle and LiveWareHouse in receiving the last of my computer parts. I had a small hiccup with newegg even on my CPU for my computer but like the awsome company they were they immediately remedied the situation and resent it back out overnight at no charge to me.
Well since all this was happening I had almost forgotten the order I placed with amazon. On 12/20/02 I decided to check my order status and see where it was at. When I checked my account and order history on amazon my order was not listed. I re-checked my email and I noticed there was no order number after carefully re-reading it and all it really said was thank your for ordering with amazon. I was a little dumbfounded but gave amazon the benefit of the doubt and assumed it was my fault. I thought maybe I hadn't hit the final submit button or something correctly.
With that I mind I re-ordered everything but by this time I had to select 2dn day premium shipping and pay $17 more then what I had originally anticipated. I get an email this time for my order along with an actuall order number. I figured everything was going well and left it at that. I get another email saturday, 12/21/02, showing my order had shipped. I figured it should be here monday 12/23/02. I was wrong.
Since it didn't show up I figured I would check online again and find out where it was. When I look online what should I behold? My ORIGINAL ORDER WAS FINALLY LISTED! I then noticed I got ANOTHER email for my first order along with it's order number and showing it's now in process. It also should the original purchase date of 12/14/02.
Now at this point I was really, really upset because I just found out that my original order was NOT my fault and I had to pay an extra $17 bucks for premium shipping that I shouldn't have had to do in the first place.
I sent an email to amazon stating this in the first place and asked if I could be refunded my shipping charges since it was THEIR fault. I received a reply email stating all they could do was cancel my original order and they couldn't refund me the cost of my shipping I had paid because my order had already shipped.
This is complete and utter BULLLSHYT!!! Never ever EVER will I do business again with amazon. I have in the past bought a lot from them including my expensive school books and supplies. I've spent over a thousand bucks there in the last 6 months and they can't even behave like any other reputable online company and refund my measly $17 bucks.
Oh and on top of that, scheduled delivery for my xmas gifts with "garaunteed" delivery by 12/24 is 12/30. Just F8cking great Amazon. Way to ruin my xmas. Go to hell.
I placed my order on December 10th, 2002. My delivery was slated for the 19th-21st of December. (I paid for two day shipping $11.97) and according to Amazon's website's tracking page, my product was shipped the 18th: "Dec 18, 2002 08:51:49 PM FERNLEY NV US SHIPPED"
So if it was shipped the 18th, I should have received it on the 20th. It didn't show up, I went throught the customer service form e-mail b.s., and received a response e-mail.
In the e-mail I received from Keith Adamson (their rep.), he stated that "As your package was sent on Thursday December 19, it should arrive by the end of business on Monday." However, it is now Tuesday, December 24th and I still have not received my order. These items are Christmas gifts (and why I placed my order on the 10th and paid for two day shipping) and they will not arrive in time for Christmas.
It has been two weeks since I placed my order on December 10th. I am disappointed that I chose to purchase from Amazon and will further conduct my shopping at Buy.com where I have never had any problems.
Amazon.com is great. I did all my Christmas shopping through Amazon.com and have never ever had a problem . It is absolutelt the best website out there and the most reliable vendor on the web. There huge and obviously have many more customers so there will be more complaints but, overall if you read your order before you place it you will get what you want when you want it. before you place your order it tells you when it will ship and the delivery estimate date. If your are not happy with the delivery estimate date then change the shipping method. Ther free shipping is slow but thats is why it is free. I have bought over 50 items from Amazon and not once did i ever have a problem. The products always showed up when they siad they would and were packed perfectly.
I was sent a gift certificate for $30 and when I went to redeem it I was told that it had already been redeemed. I contacted amazon with all the necessary information and they are refusing to correct the problem. Their customer services are useless and have just been giving me the run around and now they have told me the certificate is invalid and to contact the person that sent it to me like they'd really be able to do anything. Their responses are a joke and they just give you the run around so basically someone has given amazon $30 which they are basically trying to keep since I can't use it and they won't correct the problem. Rest assured I am going to contact consumer protection about this if it is not dealt with promptly.
UPDATE:
I recieved a reply with a contact number for customer services and the person that helped me was very friendly and sorted my problem out promptly. After this I may yet shop at Amazon.com and the person that helped me should be a role model for all their customer services.

Bad Amazon. Ordered two books: one new, and a used one from an Amazon partner vendor.
Used book: email says it will not ship because seller cannot accept payment through Amazon (So why is he even listed?).
New book: SITE says it should ship within 24 hours; however, after placing order, ORDER STATUS shows I won't receive it until Dec. 27-30 (Takes 12 to 15 days to get here?!!! So it arrives AFTER Christmas? This is a gift!).
Order cancelled. Bad, bad Amazon.
I'll go to bestwebbuys.com from now on and choose another seller when I want a book. Better prices to pick from there anyway, and the service can't be any worse. I used to be a loyal Amazon customer, but something's gone horribly wrong there.

I will never order from Amazon.com again. I placed an order on December 9th. I just recently checked the status of my order on their website and as of December 18th it still has not shipped out! When I originally placed my order, it said delivery times between December 18th-20th. I received no email, or call alerting that my order has been delayed and will potentially not make it in time for christmas. I understand that this is a busy time for them, but if they cannot meet the demands, they should LET USKNOW! I would have cancelled my order earlier and went elsewhere. Now I am stuck. It is too late to order online to receive it in time, and I cant find these items locally. So now I do not have any gifts to give my relative! Amazon.com is quick to take your money, but offer no customer support at all. No email status, confirmations, nothing. There is no telephone# listed on their website for anything!!!
I have been buying from Amazon for years now, and I really do think they have some of the best customer service that's available on the web. The thing to remember is that they are not always the cheapest prices, but they try to discount shipping, and reduce sales tax, so they can come close. I have never had a problem with any order of theirs that they have not resolved to my satisfaction. In fact, in some cases, they went beyond what I expected, which is very rare when buying on the Internet.
Purchased in-stock gifts to be delivered prior to christmas. After a seven day wait received notification that some of the products ordered had not been sent and would not be sent until after christmas. This delay prevents the purchase and timely delivery from an alternate vendor.
Three years ago Amazon was incredible, packages were shipped on time and would only take 2 days to get to me. Now all they do is disappoint me over and over. The free shipping is a joke, they should call it the wait a month and then we'll ship it free shipping. Even regular shipping is a joke, it is going to take 1.5 weeks for me to get my package of very common items.
After 4 years as an Amazon customer I will not longer be using their services.
UPDATE: Amazon still sucks. I don't pay for shipping they send my stuff with a week long delay. I do pay for shipping and they send it via USPS that takes more than a week, thats insulting. From now on I will be taking my business elsewhere if I can find the same product for the same price or less.

I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience at amazon.com. I attempted to order a graphics tablet from them, but had to go through email exchanges with 4 different people just to attempt to get them to not mess up my address so I could actually receive my order. Each email I dispatched was obviosuly sent to someone who did not understand the situation and gave me back the same bogus answer every time. They've caused me a great deal of lost time and money, and I will never deal with them again.
