My wife and I regularly order from several online retailers, and none have been as disappointing as Amazon. Our two Amazon accounts have been broken into three times, while we've never had any other retailer's account compromised. Amazon's customer support has ranged from completely unhelpful to downright rude. Amazon does have good prices on some items, but I'm willing to pay more just to avoid the hassle of calling Amazon to dispute charges for hours on end and still resorting to disputing the charge with the credit card company. My advice is to stay away from Amazon until they find a way to keep your account secure like everyone else already has.

Amazon has always been a great for me. I use them several times a month. Everything ships in time. Real-time inventory is great, the privacy settings are most welcome. There's not much else to say.
There are two downsides that come to mind. The front page still seems quite cluttered to me. It's clearly a matter of preference and I would be appreciative if it were more streamlined. Also, when you sort items by price, it takes into account used items as well. This makes sense somewhat, but it makes it more frustrating for the majority of customers who simply want brand new and sealed.

As Usual, Amazon.com had the "hard to find selections" in music, delivered quickly and the quality of product is outstanding.

I had a bad experience with Abe's of Maine and cannot recommend this company. The organization publishes a nice web site and offers competitive prices. However, their sales tactics are, in my opinion, unethical. I orderd a HDTV from Abe's of Maine via their toll free sales line. I completed the order via telephone and inquired of the free shipping advertised on their web site. That's when the "bait and switch" started. I was urged to upgrade my shipping to their "kit glove" option which assured my TV would be shipped door to door by an insured, reputable company. Unfortunately, the TV arrived damaged. I called Abe's and reported the matter. I was assured a representativve would call to arrange for a replacement TV. Noone ever called. I called repeatedly to inquire of the status. Each time I was told a replacement would be sent. After several days of hearing the same story, I called to cancel my order. I was then told I could not do so as a replacement had just been shipped. I never received the replacement TV but was charged $400 shipping on my credit card for the replacement TV.
I would not do business with this company. Unfortuntely, I now find myself having to file suit to address this unethical business practice and obtain the $400 credit due. This review was modified by its author, consumerlawyer, on

Ordered a GPS unit from a contract seller; then notified that seller was forbidden by Amazon to complete the sale - after my credit card had been charged! Ordered GPS unit from a different contract seller. Credit card charged immediately. Never heard a word from 2nd seller. Emailed seller through Amazon's system, but no response. After 5-6 days, I called Amazon to complain, and they told me that I'd have to wait about 3 weeks to file a claim? They would not allow me to cancel the order, or refund my credit card. After 3 weeks I tried to submit a claim, but the Amazon website claim submission system would not allow me to proceed. So, I called customer service (oxymoron when applied to Amazon.com), and had to deal with a rep whose first spoken language was not English. I had to ask the rep, no less than 4 times, to speak more slowly and clearly - and finally gave up trying to understand him. I sent customer service an email telling them I had no idea what the next steps in the claim process were. They emailed me back to say the process would take another 2 weeks! So, Amazon has at least 2 sellers with offers displayed online that don't or can't sell their merchandise, and don't respond to emails. But Amazon.com takes 5 weeks to refund my money! I'm done with Amazon, even if I have to pay a higher price elsewhere!

I'm an Amazon Prime member and love Amazon. The 2-day free shipping with my membership is great. Their customer service is also top notch. I'm an Amazon customer for life!
