I've bought some accesories from them several times. The experience was strange - but satisfying. They have numerous glitches, which after all don't affect delivery of items. For example, they sent me an email confirmation on Jan.29 saying that the item has shipped on... Feb.5!? Apparently, something's wrong with their server's internal clock (or maybe they hired Marty McFly and Doc to their shipping department). Also the email provided a direct link to the FedEx website to track my order. It took me a while to figure out why the link didn't work, i.e. it actually worked, but FedEx couldn't recognize the shipping number, - because the item was shipped via UPS. And dispite all these and some other glitches, the overall experience was very good - very good prices, very fast delivery (with a free shipping coupon, I had the purchase at my door in less than a week). I would buy from them again. After all, what's wrong with having some fun?

I got the laptop m305x back in November. No problems, everything worded right the first time and still does. No problems that I can report.

I ordered a 500S with a 2.4 Ghz HT proc. It arrived on time, I used it for college (adult student). I did my video editing without any difficulty and I passed all of my courses in multimedia using this PC. I lost my hard drive the end of November (clicking, constant seek). I used the email tech support which was excellent. After 3 techs reviewed my case I was sent a new drive. I had to send the bad drive back after getting my replacement. Use email support!

I actually have a postive comment to make about this Company.I purchased a complete system in July 2000.2 years later,my speakers went out even though I could still hear audio with a headset.I called support(got answered in about 4-5 minutes).They sent me a brand new subwoofer and 4 speakers without any probelms when I went through all the symptoms.That is taking care of the customer in my view.

I ordered a Canon EOS 10D late in the afternoon on March 21. I had originally ordered the camera from another online vendor that morning, because I was incorrectly told that it was "In Stock, Same-Day Delivery"; however, I cancelled my order after the company asked me to "fax my driver's license" to confirm my order. I found out then that the camera was on backorder, and cancelled my order.
I tried Gateway because I had read on dpreview.com earlier in the month that they had them in stock.
When I called Gateway, I was told by an ethusiastic employee named "Billy" that it might be two weeks before I received the camera.
I was shocked later when I read some bad reviews of Gateway on dpreview.com, and I started second-guessing my decision.
I was very pleased and pleasently surprised when it arrived on March 27. I will be happy to do business with them again.

While in the market for a new computer I priced out systems from both Dell and Gateway. I bought the Gateway 700 xl P4 3.06 Loaded. Ordered on the 12th of Dec. it was shipped on the 14th of Dec. and I received it on the 17th of Dec. Excellent machine, I'm not surprised, this is my 5th PC I've purchased from them since 1996. I'd not only buy from them again, I still recommend other do as well.

I ordered a Canon i850 color photo printer from Gateway on May 8, 2003 through their website for a very competitive $142.95 with free shipping. I received the printer May 12, 2003 by fed express in perfect condition. This is my second experience with Gateway's excellent service. The first was the purchase of a complete system. I ordered a Dell 8250 on 11/23/02 with a shipping date of 12/9/02 which was later changed to 12/16/02 and then 2/5/03. On 12/9 I was thoroughly convinced that no matter how good their machine is I was not going to do business with a company that treats it's customers with such disrespect so I canceled my order and called Gateway.
To make a long story short I was promised my computer in a week and I received it in a week. The sales rep was a pleasure to deal with and the 700XL I purchased is incredible. Of interest, I thought I was short a cable so I called Gateway Tech Support expecting to be put on hold for 45 minutes like Dell. Amazing as it seems, I was immediately connected to a tech rep who explained why the cable wasn't needed in a friendly but professional manner.
This is my fourth Gateway machine and I have never had an unpleasant experience with them. I wanted to try Dell but they had their shot and blew it.

Bought a new 700XL that I ordered on 10/19/02. Got a ship date of 11/7/02. My new gateway was at my door 10/25/02. It worked like a champ and had lots of extra discs for the cdrw and the dvd-r that came with it. Every singel person I talked to was not only very helpful but estremely polite. This is my second Gateway and since both times I have not had even one problem I will buy from them again for sure.

As there are only 60-some comment entries at this time for Gateway, and they sell far more systems than that each day, I came to the conclusion that people are more likely to write in a complaint than a compliment. People are more motivated when they are angry.
I was very satisfied with my Gateway exerience. This is my fourth system purchase from them. I have never had the problems with technical support that others report, and I have called in on each system to get questions answered.
The new 500X system is an awesome performer. The 18" LCD upgrade is worth every penny. For example, digital photos look far better than on my old 19" CRT.
The system worked right out of the box. Calls to technical support to get some questions answered about the new technologies were answered promptly. Even when I should have read the manual more carefully, the support person was very friendly, saying that many times just going over the written material with a tech support person gets the problem resolved.
I rate Gateway a perfect 10, and recommend you purchase from them. This review was modified by its author, HowardNemerov, on
