I am very disappointed with the service from uBid.
I placed my order on Oct. 21 and I still have NOT received my item (today is November 10), my item was IN STOCK & shipped on October 31 (10 days after purchase). I never even got a tracking number to "ease my mind". I order online on a frequent basis and have used several sites to make purchases, uBid is by far the worst with service & turnaround shipping time. This experience has taught me not to use uBid on any further purchases.
At this point and this holiday season, I will let all my friends, family and anyone else know NOT to use uBid because they probably won't get their order until next year.
NOTE: I ordered this items over 3 weeks before my son's birthday. It was a game he really wanted for his birthday gift. Sadly, my son will not have it for his birthday. Maybe it will be here in time for Christmas (or not)????

Hate UBID Do not buy from them. I bought a refurbished laptop from them. But it came with a broken harddrive. So I send them my laptop to them after I got my RMA extended for another month. But they wanted to take 30%!!!!! of the purchase price. Told them to ship it back to me. They acted like they were doing me a favor by shipping my laptop back to me. They said that they didn't have to ship the laptop back to me. I also paid $30 for shipping, but when I send the laptop back to them it only cost $10 bucks from fedex. So now I have to fix my laptop at CompUSA. Also they didn't pack the laptop well when they send it back to me like they didn't care. Return policy is very bad!!!. It's done in their favor. Do not buy from them what ever you do. Go to costco to buy a laptop or something. They have a better return policy for refurbished laptops. Don't buy from them.

I have been Ubid customer from the very first year they on the biz. I always have a good biz with them but I didn't order anything from them since they start to charge a way toooo much for their shipping (unbelieveable price for shipping!). some how I want to give them a try again for cell phone. which i be able to find the one i like and i did buy it direct from them. everything went fine. on the next day i found other company that offer same cell phone for less and i did send them e-mail ask them to cancel my order. needless to say nothing show up on tracking or cancelation...nothing for 3 days and then i got e-mail on july 26 told me that the product was ship out, ok, i think that alright and they charge me 2 days for $45 shipping for cell phone? boy...i am so wrong to do biz with them again. and then i receive my package way more than 2 days. so i telling myself that if it work everything will be fine. guess what? nope. big O zero. call Ubid back ask them to see if anything that they can help. the girl on the phone was real nice and SEEM to be helpful and tole me she will try to get back to me with in 48 hours....hummm wonder how hard is that to find out about the product. 3 days later nothing again nothing...i call them back on the 4 days and she call their VENDER right away and told me that if she can refund or replace i told her is it work i am more than happy to replace it so i guess i ask her to replace the product. and i waite for e-mail again to ship the product back. well this time it right away i pack everything and ship back that day. and waite for other 5 days nothing again....nothing! i call the person on the phone seem like she real unhappy with her job and told me to waite for e-mail...humm ok. and i hang up the phone and call back next day ask the same question about my cell phone...she told me they reviece the phone 3 days ago...and the VENDER will ship out product the same day...ok...nothing again i call back 2 days later to find out that they just ship out today!...wowo....i got e-mail about the package that been mailout through USPS and give me tracking #....boy you need to read e-mail carefully because they say it might be up to 30days to tracking the package or recieve the package! i hope this cell phone doesn't come from MAR or Saturn....and they say product can be return within 15days...humm i hope i still be able to return the package when it get here. please people DO NOT BUY FROM THEM EVER!!! i buy alot of product on-line and this will be the last with them. NO MORE UBID!!!!

Horrible! Do NOT buy from these hacks no matter what the price. Read their fine print, if it says "refurbished" and "very nice condition" that may translate to very, very, very poor condition, unusable and the product is one its last legs about ready to break.
Here are the bullet points from my experience: Late shipping, did not send me everything I ordered, product was totally scratched up (described as "very nice condition"), and service reps were rude.
I needed a cellphone. I found a good price on one at uBid, it was described as a "very nice refurbished" Blackberry with a charged & usb cable.
I needed ASAP, so I paid the extra $30 for overnight delivery. I ordered it Monday morning.
On Thursday, 4 DAYS later, this horrible experience started to unfold. The packaging was pathetic, someone threw it into a USPS overnight envelope. They forgot to include the USB cable, thus, they did not send everything I bought. Then, I inspected the Blackberry, this thing looked like someone climbed Everest with it, deep scratches on the screen & gouges on the body of the phone. Seriously, this phone looked like someone used it very hard for about 2 years. It was far from "very nice condition." Scratches on the screen??? How could anyone in their right mind claim this was in "very nice condition?"
I called customer service on Thursday, and was told they would contact the seller to get me a replacement phone that was as advertised. I was told I could expect an e-mail from uBid. Monday morning, no e-mail, so I called uBid.
When I called uBid acted as if I had nothing to complain about. I told the rep the phone was not in "very nice condition" and the description was dead wrong. The rep then told me the phone was listed as "used," and proceeded to read to me what "used" means under the uBid contract. Essentially, "used" means the product has minor bumps and scratches. I told the rep the phone has scratches on the SCREEN making it unusable, this is a major scratch. Then I said the phone was late in shipping, it came after I needed it, the phone came incomplete, and it is a piece of junk. She didn't care. The gist of what she said was I bought it used (nevermind it was listed as "very nice condition"), all bets are off, caveat emptor sucker!
Finally, I said "I want my money back." The rep's reply is that I have to pay a 15% re-stocking fee.
So, I'm out $30 for "overnight" shipping, $30 re-stocking fee, I'm mad because they did a bait & switch and used fine print to stick it to me, and I still don't have a phone.
I'm not going to fight them, I rather spend time with friends & family, but I do want you, the potential uBid customer to know these guys are horrible. Please, learn from my mistake: Do NOT do business with uBid.

I purchased a 6GB Ipod. When I got it it was 4GB. I called them the next day and they offered me an exchange or refund. I chose refund and they said they will send a RA number. After not hearing from them for a day, I emailed and called daily. Everyday it was, we'll send it to you in 10-15 minutes. After 1 week, nothing.
What king of business is this??

I had an account at Ubid.com for almost seven years and spent there many thousand dollars for home and work products. Ubid.com was never a very “user-friendly”, but, in the past, It has a rather small amount of imperfection and it was compensated by bargain prices on a range of products. Previously, if Ubid.com could not (or did not want to) send you a product you won, it could even propose a few dollars of compensation. At present you will not get this kind of money. However, they may lie proposing a compensation, but will not give it and will never answer e-mail with reminders.
Ubid.com is obviously “going down”. Some refurbished bargain products are still there, but it is possible to find better places, and prices for new items are higher then in respectable on-line stores. However, there is a worse problem which turning buyers away from it. Ubid.com is transforming into one of the least reliable place for shopping. From last several orders I could hardly receive a half. Being such unreliable, they like to take money for the non-delivered products, and do not want to return them. A refund request is becoming a battle, and e-mail is rarely answered. Phone support is very bad, and I caught them on lying a few times (or in most cases).
Ubid has also developed a trick for “inexperienced customers”, such as selling a fixed set and pricing “per item”. To make it work better, this pricing system is not disclosed in recent actions.
Ubid.com loves money at near criminal level. Recently I asked a supervisor (let’s call her S.D.) :”Can I have a full refund from Ubid.com for an item which was not delivered because was lost?”. I asked a few times to ensure this is not a mistake, and the answer was “No”. Same is likely valid for a DOD items.
Thus, Ubid.com is becoming a place to buyers, who likes to pay for non-delivered and defective products. I would not be surprised, that this kind of trade is responsible for a large part of Ubid.com profit.

I ordered a Microsoft Trackball explorer from ubid on December 2, 2005 for a Christmas present for my mother who has bad carpal tunnel. It is the same trackball that I have been using for 3 years and it works great. I was a little hesitant because no one else had such a good price on this unit, and many people didn't have it at all. However, I thought (incorrectly) that ubid had a decent rteputation. I mad a mistake, I know. If I had just researched a little more I would have found out that they do NOT.
Anyway, the unit they sent me was a piece of crap Korean grey markey knock-off. It has the trackball on the side, not the top which I needed for my mom. Ubid had a picture though of the correct ball on the auction site. Had they had the real grey-0market unit I NEVER would have bought from them. We have bought things from Amazon, and ebay, as well as directly from other stores online. Ubid in my honest opinion is guilty of clear consumer fraud. They are shysters, nothing more, and they really don't deserve to be part of the online selling experience.

Here's my latest dealing with ubid, buyers beware...
Actually, don't bother with "researching" my issue. I have since checked www.resellerratings.com and I realize that, based on your history, you have given me GREAT customer service. You actually sent my item, in a reasonable amount of time, and all I was missing was the only other thing promised in the listing. You sent 1 out of 2 things, 50%!!!! Congrats on your vast improvement! Your mothers must be so proud, that is, when they're not robbing liquor stores and mugging the handicapped.
I will give you credit for finding every way possible to shaft your bidders (read: the people that keep your sorry @sses in business). I wish I could get paid for that. It's a great job except for the d@mn customers, right?
In short, I will be dropping UBID from my favorites list soon, and will be cancelling my account shortly thereafter. Your "low" prices do not agree with my need for customer service from a company who cares about their customers.

Vendor shipped defective "refurbished" merchandise and refused to exchange product even though it is still in stock. In hindsight, given my cost and extra wait needed to ship it to the manufacturer for repairs, I'd have rather purchased it for a little more at a reputable vendor. Don't assume "refurbished" means the item is working correctly and beware of all their fine print. If you do wait on hold long enough to get a customer service person, they will use any of it they can to get out of providing service to the customer. You might get a working product, but why not buy where you know the vendor will support their products with easy exchanges, regardless of their fine print? I just got off the phone with a representative and their supervisor in regards to the placement of a bid from their site. I was looking for a keyboard and found this site through pricegrabber and I was led to believe, after registering that I was going to bid on a new logitech keyboard(website indicated they had 31 available. Going through the website I was led to believe that I was "BIDDING". Phrases that led you through their site included the following, "Bid Information", "Auction Information", "Place Your Bid", "Time Left To Bid", "Starting Bid","Reserve Price", "Incremental Bid", "Total Bid", and they even had a "U Buy It Bid". Are there indicators for you to place a bid? Absolutely!!! Well would you like to "PREVIEW YOUR BID"? Sure...you just bought it. I bought a relatively inexpensive product...what if you think your bidding on an item that sells in the hundreds of dollars. In as good as job as they could do the two ladies tried to conceal what this website is doing. Misleading the customer creating a lose/lose situation

Purchased refurbished laptop Gateway 450. Laptop turns on to black screen asking for password. After multiple attempts to resolve issue Vendor said to get it repaired by a professional, at my oen cost of course. Refurbished would imply this item has been repaired in some manner. Would deffinetly not do buissnes again with this company: UBID.com

The customer was issued a credit for the costs of the repair. We have also dropped the supplier of that product from the lineup. We are sorry for the inconvenience. |

I have purchased a refurbished lap top for $1000 almost $200 less from the original price for a new equipment. Felt like an amazing deal. But when the laptop arrived, I was shocked to see a piece of junk with full of scratches in the body and screen. I asked for a return. The customer service was bad. She said there will be a 15% restocking fee. I said the item is defective. She said scratches cannot be considered as defective. Finally I send the item back to Ubid asking for a full reimbursement. After 2 weeks I got the reimbursement after deducting 15% restocking fee. Eventually I lost $150 + $45 original shipping (That is too much for a fedex ground as return shipping with $1000 insurance cost me only $25) and the return shipping ($25). Finally lost a total of $220 for not a mistake of mine. I tried to save $200 by buying this item in Ubid and ended up paying an extra $220. Never ever I buy anything from Ubid. They are real cheats. Go to the store get the new product when there is a deal. U will have mental peace and lot of satisfaction.
The bottom line is STAY AWAY FROM UBID....THEY SUCKS!!!!!

Longtime user of uBid, back from the days when they allowed comments next to bids. Have purchased 2 computers several digital cameras and several speakers and stereos from them.
No more.
Same customer service experience as profiled below...two identical e-mails challenging my identity (for the same info they already had on file). uBid made no calls for verification to either VISA, or me. I requested 2x that they call the number on my registration page so that I could verify THEIR identity. No phone calls.
VISA security said my card was already charged, indicating valid order. Confirmation received on bid win prior to that. Three days later, order cancelled by uBid.
General: Customer service doesn't read their e-mails or make phone calls. My guess is, that with customer service like this, they are headed the Egghead route.
I used to be a customer, and a good one. Too many other good retailers of the same goods out there to put up with stuff like this.
Update: I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and wrote a letter of complaint 10 days ago and received no response. I cancelled my uBid account yesterday. I'm using eCost and Tiger direct more often now...their service has been more predictable and prices are comparable.
Update 2: I was contacted by uBid and offered the merchandise at the same price as I won it on auction after the BBB contacted them a second time. No apology, no explanation, just "Do you want it? It is still available." I already purchased a different laptop from another vendor by that time, and to be quite honest, I won't buy from uBid again due to their customer service department. uBid really needs to upgrade this, and be aware of the growing Identity theft problem.
For those of you who are satisfied with uBid, I spent almost $5,000 with them over several years, and worked through several minor glitches (not as advertised goods, improper amount shipped, items DOA) When it works, it works well. When it doesn't, good luck.

I've bought a Sony MEX-1HD CD Receiver/Hard Disk on 10-15-04 and I received the product on 10-21-04 (Thursday). I've found out that the receiver wasn't even working, so I contacted ubid on 10-25-04 (Monday) asking for a replacement and if not possible, than a return. The representative said that she would call Sony for a replacement and would contact me within 24 to 48 hrs. Finally, when they contacted me 6 DAYS later (after the fact that I constantly called and e-mail them), they said I would have to send it out and have it fix. Have you ever heard of any company that sales you damage products and won't let you exchange or return without charging you extra for shipping and restocking fees?
