Horrible. Wished I would have researched merchant first. Friend sent me the link with the price and my emotions got the best of me. I bought the $499 Sony HDR-SR12, 120GB High Definition Hard Drive Camcorder with USA Warranty. The next day I got a call from someone representing the company asking to upgrade me to a battery and charger for $200. Upon further questioning turns out I bought a camera without a battery and charger and that it was on back order anyway and he finally ends up hanging up on me and stating he is cancelling my order. The number on caller id was 718-306-1552 his name the first time he called was Shrreef Abdul and supposedly from Nebraska, when I called the number from the email I got 888-672-4077ext.283 from Ken I got the same guy and his name is John Banister this time. He then places me on hold and comes back pretending to be Ken. I told him this place is a scam and he hung up on me. Calling their website number (888) 313-7468 proved futile. I sent email back to ken stating to cancel my order and I reported my credit card stolen so If they try and charge it they can't. I don't understand why the State and City of New york hasn't shut this shady dealer down. I'm tempted to register shopdigitaldirectisascam.com so no one else has to go thru the frustration.

BAIT & SWITCH pure and simple. The P.T. Barnum school of selling. Never give a sucker a even break.
These clowns will take hours to answer the phone, then hang up on you. If they do talk to you after you find out that they've canceled the order and reordered it to make sure you are on backorder. Of course there is no sign that they're on a backorder status on the website and if you call everything is in stock.
If you play around on their 'site' and order what is necessary to have a functional system you're paying $400-$600 more than a reputable dealer.
I'll be very interested to see what it'll take to get the order fulfilled. Promises to be fun.
Just a update, it takes a average of 20 minutes for them to answer the phone, takes milliseconds to hang up or put you on never ending hold. Sure am glad I've got a zillion minutes on my cell phone. This review was modified by its author, HogKiller, on

This is the worst shopping experience I have ever had. Shop digital direct misrepresents their ability to provide you with what their website says. I ordered a camera at what I thought was a great price and even paid extra to have it shipped in time for christmas. They emailed me to confirm, so I called in. They had sold me a camera with an incompatible lens. The cs rep then tried to sell me the right lens at a $200 mark up, which I declined. He then said that the camera was on back order and I should receive it in 7-10 weeks! I cancelled my order. what a scam.

Rather than repeat what almost everyone else says about shop digitaldirect .com here it is....How much time and energy do you want to spend to NEVER get what you saw advertised or what you ordered. This review was modified by its author, lakota362, on

SCAM ARTISTIST! DO NOT EVER ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY! The website seemed safe and after researching prices this was the best by far. I should have realized something was up after the manager "Ken" (if that is really his name)was very pushing and talked me into buying a packaged with battery pack and lens and adapter. I never recieved an email confirmation which I was told I would so I called numerous times waiting for 45 min. each time. A rep finally got on the phone telling me that the order would be here 100% by the 23rd. When I asked for a tracking number the manager Ken started yelling at me (another sign) and said he was too busy to give it to me. Well yesterday only half of the order came so I researched shopdigitaldirect.com and found out that many many others had been scammed in this way - recieving only have with the rest on backorder. Never once was I told that any thing was on backorder. Then I asked them to give me the price for each item which they would not because they said I got a package deal. Do not believe any thing they say. Jessica told me that my lens would be overnighted which was a lie. Ken the "manager/owner" gave me his ext. (283) which does not work. He has yelled at me on the phone everytime I have talked to him. I am actually on the phone with him right now and I told him that I am very upset because I have been scammed and he said oh no that is just bad reviews. When I asked him if he treated every customer like this and did he ever expected me to ever order from him again he finally was very nice trying to win me back. These people are awful!!!! I wish that the cops would arrest them. They have wasted way too much of my time and I hope that I will recieve all of my money back. My card luckily suspended the payment with the cause of fraud. So we will see what happens. In conclusion - stay away!!!!!

For anyone who is even thinking about buying from this website...DO NOT BUY. I ordered the Canon EOS 5D Mark II for the extremely low price of $2449. That was sold as a package with 2 other lenses. Needless to say from reading the other reviews now I don't think I will be receiving these items. I did a whois search and they are listed through DomainsbyProxy.com. A company that doesn't even register their website with real information can't be trusted to much. what do they possibly have to hide if they are a legit company? TIP: If you will be buying anything online PLEASE do your homework. Check the Better Business Bureau at bbb.com, and this site. If there are no listings proceed with caution. If they list bad reviews then pay EXTRA attention to these as people who have been dissatisfied or scammed are more inclined to leave reviews so others don't have to go through that trouble.

I tried for days to contact them at customer service regarding my order. When I finally got ahold of them they said the order was on backorder. Typical of the other stories written. I canceled the order with them after they tried to sell me batteries at a price 6x what it should be.

I wish I had read others reviews before ordering (or attempting to order). I ordered the Canon 5D Mark II for the remarkable price of $1,899 ($2,059 with 2 lenses). At the time I ordered they told me I would need to buy a battery which was $250 plus a charger, another $300+. That sounded excessive to me so I said no. I went to two local camera stores to find the battery and charger. The first store told me not to buy from Shop Digital Direct because they take the batteries and chargers out of the box and resell them to you at a very high price. They also told me to watch that I get a US warranty card. The second camera store I went to told me that if I didn't buy the expensive charger and battery SDD was offering, they would never send the camera. I would just be told the camera was on backorder. As soon as I found this out I tried for 2 days to get ahold of someone at SDD. I ended up calling the number they gave me if I wanted to order the battery. They'll answer that line! I asked on the status of my order and, surprise, it was on backorder. I cancelled the order. Now I hope this wasn't a credit card scam as it was my boss' credit card he let me use.

I have holding the phone line for the past 45 minutes and no one responds, most of the the phone line shows busy. The order system has an opition to enter the Apartment number but when you submit the order you don't see the aprtment number on your final billing / shipping order confirmation. I never has such bad experience with any of other retail websites This review was modified by its author, anjineyulu, on

I ordered a XSI rebel and 18-55 lens online because of the low price. Thought that would be that but the following Sunday evening I get a call. The guy told me that I needed to buy a battery because it did not come with the camera. He told me that he could give me a deal on a special long life battery way under the listed price. I asked what brand and model number so I could quickly look it up but he said he didn't know. Because I have gotten some really good deals from warehouses in NY before I made the wrong decision to trust him. Then he said he could make me good deals on other accessories which I needed. Looking at their website the prices he was quoting were below what was listed. To make a long story short since my story is so similar to others. After ordering I asked for a conformation receipt. Never got one, called the company requesting one. Got one but had a total way more than the items I ordered and didn't have the items seperated, just lumped it into a package. I tried to cancel to no avail. Got the shipment and all of the accessories were the cheapest quality and worth a tenth of what I paid. They were not the same as what could be seen on their site. The battery was a standard battery that comes with the camera from Canon. Nothing special and not longer life. I called to get refund and they still refused to send itemized receipt. They gave me a verbal tally and things like a battery charger were priced at $159.00 (never mentioned by salesman). The battery they listd as $109.00 and was suppose to be a greatly discounted price was one you can get anywhere for $40.00 and the charger comes with it free. It didn't look like the ones on their website either. The filter kit they said was a $200.0 set is listed everywhere for $9.00. They tacked on a 9.00% handling fee that was never mentioned. It said free shipping on the website. After a severe argument with customer service (who I got after a 25 minute wait) the guy said he will give me a full refund. I shipped it right back and we will see. I'm not holding my breath.
I've contacted the Better Business Bureau of NY. The consumer protection Agency. My credit card scam department. The FBI internet fraud division etc. I found all of these by googling them. I may not be done either.

Ordered Canon EOS 5D Mark II for $2129 from shopdigitaldirect.com.
The price was too good to be true, so I called before I ordered. A man answered talked very fast and told me its cheap because they are wholesale not retail dealers. With out doing any more research I ordered online.
After ordering, a man speaking very fast, called from the company and offer extras telling me the lens is plastic and the battery is temporary. After denying extras, warranty and fast shipping I called AMEX to find they had charged $3999. The company never emailed receipt but did manage to send the UPS Comfirmation number.
Filed dispute with AMEX and we've decided to refuse delivery of the camera and have product will be sent back to the company.
On their website under the TV section it states if product is not damaged and delivery is refused the consumer is responsible for all shipping and insurance, no where does it say you are responsible for restocking fee.
I'm sure they will still try to charge restocking fee of 10% but I will fight it. Even paying a $400 restocking fee is better than accepting a product from this company.

I would like to thank everyone for posting their reviews. I thought that the price sounded too good to be true for the Canon XSI System with 2 lenses. They suppossedly were going to beat the Amazon price with 1 lens after $100 rebate from Canon. So I figured I would check out before ordering. Thanks again for posting and saving me the trouble of losing money with them.

BUYER BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE.
*Bait & Switch Tactics
*High Pressure & Unprofessional Sales Staff
*Does not honor prices by claiming "Back Order" order status on products.
*Possibly connected to Identify Theft outfits. Shortly after purchasing item, my credit card used had fradulent charges made.
Do not order from them, EVER. Should have saved me the trouble and headache by researching this website first.

I ordered a nikon d60 camera and nikon 18-200mm lens which they had listed for $849. The next day Ken at extension 283 called to tell me that the lens which i had ordered was a plastic vivitar lens and that he suggested an upgrade for more money. His explanation as to how a lens advertised as nikon could really be a vivitar lens was obviously lost on me. When i told him that i needed to discuss this with my wife first he told me that a decision had to be made now since the order was ready to ship (that was a lie). He also told me that if i cancelled there would be a $168 cancellation charge. I ended up going through with the order and agreeing to pay an additional $250 for the alleged upgrade. That night we decided that we would cancel the credit card and then cancel the order but the charges had already gone through. I told American express the whole story about the scam that these people run and that i wanted to dispute the charge. They opened up a case on it. I asked them if i should call the vendor back and tell them to cancel if they haven't shipped yet. American express told me that i didn't need to do that, that they would handle the communications. They told me to refuse the shipment when it came.
From going through the ratings I have now learned that there are multitudes of companies out there pulling these same scams. i just wished that i'd checked this site first before ordering.
