72 ratings on this Reseller Ratings site as of 1/26/09 demonstrate a common scam:
1. Price the digital product far below any competition. The deal is literally to good to be true.
2. Call to verify the credit card and try to sell you inflated extras like batteries (3 fold hike in battery price compared to Amazon or other reputable sites).
3. Put your order on the bottom of the list when you don't buy extras.
4. They do not update on the anticipated ship dates and continually tell you that it is backordered (these are just ways to get you to finally to cancel the order, which most will do when they finally get frustrated enough).
5. The truly concerning part is the reviews on the Reseller Ratings report that people had unauthorized charges after transactions with Shop Digital Direct. This is not isolated to one or tow reviews. This moves the company from extremely poor business practices (scam selling practices) to potentially criminal practices by selling credit card information that needs to be investigated and stopped).

NEVER BUY FROM SHOPDIGITALDIRECT! I had been researching best price for a Nikon D90. SDD had over 20 package deals and one for 1189.00 was what I ordered. I got a call from a salesman early the next morning (woke me up) and he said for 119 more he'd do this and that... he actually "upgraded" my memory chip, both lenses, carrying case, lens filters, card reader..I must have been crazy to accept his offer of what he said was $3500 worth of stuff for 2199.99 out the door. I can't believe I didn't ask for an invoice, inventory of items or anything and told I needed it by the following weekend. He 'threw in' express shipping. It took them 5 days just to ship it and it didn't arrive for another 8 days. The lenses were not Nikons best VR lenses as I was told. No 'professional' tripod (a table tripod was listed on the invoice but not enclosed) nor was an aluminum hard case for the camera. CAVEAT EMPTOR. Let the buyer beware. NO ONE has responded to my two emails and can't get through on the phone. How can we put these guys out of business. They are crooks!

Rather than repeat what almost everyone else says about shop digitaldirect .com here it is....How much time and energy do you want to spend to NEVER get what you saw advertised or what you ordered.

Ordered Canon EOS 5D Mark II for $2129 from shopdigitaldirect.com.

The price was too good to be true, so I called before I ordered. A man answered talked very fast and told me its cheap because they are wholesale not retail dealers. With out doing any more research I ordered online.

After ordering, a man speaking very fast, called from the company and offer extras telling me the lens is plastic and the battery is temporary. After denying extras, warranty and fast shipping I called AMEX to find they had charged $3999. The company never emailed receipt but did manage to send the UPS Comfirmation number.

Filed dispute with AMEX and we've decided to refuse delivery of the camera and have product will be sent back to the company.

On their website under the TV section it states if product is not damaged and delivery is refused the consumer is responsible for all shipping and insurance, no where does it say you are responsible for restocking fee.

I'm sure they will still try to charge restocking fee of 10% but I will fight it. Even paying a $400 restocking fee is better than accepting a product from this company.

BUYER BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE.

*Bait & Switch Tactics
*High Pressure & Unprofessional Sales Staff
*Does not honor prices by claiming "Back Order" order status on products.
*Possibly connected to Identify Theft outfits. Shortly after purchasing item, my credit card used had fradulent charges made.

Do not order from them, EVER. Should have saved me the trouble and headache by researching this website first.

I ordered a nikon d60 camera and nikon 18-200mm lens which they had listed for $849. The next day Ken at extension 283 called to tell me that the lens which i had ordered was a plastic vivitar lens and that he suggested an upgrade for more money. His explanation as to how a lens advertised as nikon could really be a vivitar lens was obviously lost on me. When i told him that i needed to discuss this with my wife first he told me that a decision had to be made now since the order was ready to ship (that was a lie). He also told me that if i cancelled there would be a $168 cancellation charge. I ended up going through with the order and agreeing to pay an additional $250 for the alleged upgrade. That night we decided that we would cancel the credit card and then cancel the order but the charges had already gone through. I told American express the whole story about the scam that these people run and that i wanted to dispute the charge. They opened up a case on it. I asked them if i should call the vendor back and tell them to cancel if they haven't shipped yet. American express told me that i didn't need to do that, that they would handle the communications. They told me to refuse the shipment when it came.

From going through the ratings I have now learned that there are multitudes of companies out there pulling these same scams. i just wished that i'd checked this site first before ordering.

ShopDigitalDirect.com is the the worst on-line merchant that I have ever encountered. I ordered a Sony Camcorder from the site because it was the lowest advertised price. When I placed the order the website stated that the product was "in-stock", about two weeks later I recieved a phone call and they told me that it was out of stock but that I would recieve the product before 15 Dec. When I call to inquire on my perchase today (2Dec08), the operator informed me that they would not recieve the item until 22 Jan 2009! Which means that I would not recieve it until Feb/Mar 2009. I don't know who these people are but they need to clean up their act if they plan on staying in business! I'll never shop there again!

Ripoff alert! Here is some of the BS the representative told me on the phone: "Your camera doesn't come with a battery", "The lens that comes with the kit is plastic" (After paying for an 'upgrade' I received a Nikon D40 kit lens), "There is a 12% handling fee" (not mentioned on the website or e-mail). This is the kind of company that gives internet sales a bad name. Do NOT order from them. The descriptions on the website are incomplete and misleading, then they upsell you on the phone.

I can only reitereate what previous posters have said. This company is a complete scam. I ordered 2 canon G10 packages totalling $1100 only to be told via a phone call a couple of days later that no battery or charger was included with the package, and I'd have to pay another 400.

Couple of points for anyone who's dealing with them right now:

If you're talking to a sales agent, hang up and call customer service. They're a little more helpful.

Say you're disputing the charge on your credit card unless you're satisfied. The credit card company are happy to do this, and the sales agent will do a backflip not to lose the sale.

BEWARE....SCAM!!!!!!!!
I placed an order on the net and shortly thereafter received a call from Ken offering me all these great "deals". He said the Nikon lenses I had ordered were plastic lenses and that I really wanted the glass to avoid distortion. I fell for it. After adding all the special deals my order went from $830 to $1500. After I hung up I decided to call Nikon and ask about their plastic lenses.....well Nikon does not make plastic lenses! So I called Ken back and told him...he argued until I said I wanted to cancel then he started offering me more "special deals" just to keep the order, I refused and demanded the order be canceled and he began to be VERY rude and told me it would cost $286 just to cancel. We argued and finally he hung up on me. I called back and when he heard my voice he hung up again. This place is a hoax!

Did a google search for the camera I was shopping for and found shopdigitaldirect's link listed as a "trusted seller" on "DiduPrice." I excitedly entered my cc info and placed order for a Sony H50 listed $100 less than any any other online merchant had it for. I became suspicious when my email confirmation listed no item description or price. I immediately did a google search and read pages of horror stories about this merchant and their disreputable business practices. I attempted to call their customer service line to cancel, but it was after hours. So instead I called my debit/cc company and made them aware of the situation. I had them cancel my card and issue a new one. A $1.00 authorization had already been placed on my card.

Today I called shopdigitaldirect customer service and received an incoming call from them while waiting on hold to speak with a rep. The guy imediately references my order. I said, "Actually I was just calling you on the other line to cancel that order." Abruptly he says, "Okay we'll cancell that order then," and immediately hung up on me. After re-dialing and twenty minutes on hold listening to their lame advertising, ("We're ALWAYS looking for new ways to give you more!")... a guy picks up who sounds like he's eating lunch and I politely request confirmation of my cancellation. I tell him I was disconnected with the other rep. He asks for my order # and informs me it has been cancelled. I request a confirmation email and receive one right away which states my order was cancelled at my request and my cc has not been charged apologizing for any inconvenience. This at least gives me some peace of mind... I will retain this confirmation for my records and will continue a close watch on all transactons on my debit account. I hope I dodged a bullet with these characters and will be much more cautious in the future when ordering online from unknown merchants.

I ordered a Rebel XTi body (and nothing else) at an incredible price from these guys. I did do a cursory look into this company (though no on resellerratings.com) and they were highly rated on a couple of websites.

After I ordered I decided to do a little more research, as the order confirmation didn't include any details on what I ordered! I found that these guys are actually low rated on most of the ratings websites!

The one thing I noticed on the ratings sites that these guys got high ratings on is that none of the reviews are available to look at. On any website that rates them low, you can read the reviews and see what people are actually saying. Moral of that story was, find a reputable ratings site and bookmark them (for me resellerratings.com fits that bill), and check before you buy!!

I had ordered on a weekend and was on pins and needles after reading the horror stories from their previous victims... err customers. But come Monday morning I got an email that said they were out of stock and no more are due in for 7 or 8 weeks and that the order was canceled. What a relief!

I did cancel that credit card though, and the authorization they had on the credit card from when I placed my order has finally dropped off (they could still charge that authorization despite the CC cancellation because it was made before the card was canceled). It was a debit card so any monkey business would have screwed me over pretty bad.

I'm usually pretty anal about purchasing on the Internet and let my guard down this time. Luckily it wasn't a disaster. What I learned from this is that Internet scammers have become more sophisticated and they now run websites that misrepresent their customer ratings in an attempt to attract new customers. You need to select one or two reliable ratings websites with which to cross check the company's reliability.

Second thing I learned was to use single-use secure cards for online transactions with vendors you've never bought from before. I started doing this thru Pay-Pal, via their plug-in. I'm sure that there are other ways to do this as well though. A single-use secure card will limit the potential damage if something goes wrong and is much easier to cancel if the need arises.

Third thing I learned was if it's too good to be true then you have to take that extra effort needed to verify it and not get greedy hoping for a good deal. Being lax could cost you a LOT more than a few minutes of due diligence!

Needless to say, I will never place an order with Shop Digital Direct again. On top of the blatant misrepresentation of customer satisfaction and the lack of order details on the confirmation email, they did exactly what other reviewers said they would do in handling my order. They were true to form of a predatory company with little to no scruples.

ShopDigitalDirect.com They got me good !
I've been shopping online for years and never herd of this before.
I ordered the Canon XSI kit from them for only $449.00, a bad ass deal so I thought.
I got a call from one of there Ripoff Specialist saying I needed the battery for 145.00 so I bought it
told them to go ahead with the 145.00 charge and send me the camera. They ended up charging me
255.00 for the charger and 50.00 for the free software you can download from Canon.

A 799.00 Dollar camera cost me 949.00 by the time it was said and done and I did not know about the other charges
for almost a month..
NEVER AGAIN will I buy from a none recognized company again also do a Ripoff report search on them before I buy.First off I would like to thank everyone for taking the time to write these reviews and saving potential buyers, myself included, the time and headache that comes with dealing with these scam artists.

Second, after some extensive research I would like to let others know that Shop Digital Direct falls under a company umbrella that operates under many other names, including;

Over the Internet, I ordered a Canon Cam G10, listed as $350 from Shop Digital Direct. I also asked for expedited mailing, an additional $26 charge. When they had my address incomplete, I called to correct it and was informed that the camcorder did not have batteries --but could be had for an additional $129. Then Shop Direct informed me that it had no charger. I asked for the cheapest, not exceeding $40. I called to cancel when I found out that they charged $759.99 on my credit card on July 18th. I called Shop Digital Direct several times on July 21st to cancel and they informed that the product had been shipped and therefore they could not cancel. In fact, UPS shipment tracking has stated that the product was shipped on July 24th, after I informed my bank to cancel, which bank called on the 24th of July! Anyway, they do bait and switch, over charge items, make it impossible to reach anyone on their so-called 800 phone number, lie to buyers about when the product is being shipped to deny cancellations, and the FTC and DOJ should investigate them for wire-fraud, FTC regulatory violations for bait and switch. Their sales are handled in Florida, the managers in Brooklyn, and they purposely violate each and every standard procedure and rules that protect buyers from unscrupulous Internet sellers such as Shop Digital Direct.

I received the product, which the invoice described as a "Special Custom Package". Actually, it was the standard Canon HG10 box with the standard charger and battery included, stating that it was an "upgrade to retail model". They still list on their website, the HG10 for $329! But their scam is to cause the buyer to call and create the situation to charge a premium for the same product. They handcuff you by charging a restocking charge. I did the math and the lowest price from a reputable seller would cost the same if not more when including the restocking and shipping charge. I'm sure that Shop Digital Direct purposely priced it the same way.
