I purchased an HD camcorder and was pleased with the choice to purchase from Abe's of Maine. I had a problem with my computer, so I had to call in the order. It took a few minutes and I received the order about 3 days later, which was sooner than expected. I've been using the camcorder for over 8 months now, with no problems. I will definately check with Abe's of Maine for any future purchases.
Ordered a lens for my camera on Tuesday evening. Wednesday morning I received a call from a Abes of maine sales rep to verify my address and the mount of the lens. He did suggest I get a filter for the lens but was not agressive at all and when I said I already had one he just let me know the lens would arrive the next day. It was a very pleasant and professional transaction and I will do business with them again.
Ordering process was efficient and easy. I received my order quickly. Only suggestion would be better packing. The inside "air cushion pillow" material were flat providing no cushioning during transit. However, I believe this could be, and should be, easily fixed by the warehouse management. This was my first experience with Abe's of Maine but shouldn't be my last. Overall, I am satisfied with Abe's.
I'd read a lot of reviews of Abe's , a lot of them bad, so I wasn't expecting great service and was ready for a bit of hard sell on accessories. I ordered a Panasonic ZS3 on saturday online. I received it by UPS on tuesday. Not too shabby. Great price, free shipping. I did receive a "confirmation" call monday morning where Jack tried to sell me an extra battery and memory card. I politely declined and he was totally courteous and didn't push it. A small price to pay for a very professional service. i 'm totally happy with Abe's - for me it was a very slick purchase.
I bought my Denon 4308CI receiver back in Aug 08 from Abe's. The price was more than reasonable and they backed the product w/ a warranty. I got my receiver shipped in perfect condition and it worked flawlessly for the 1st year. In Aug 09, I had a problem w/ the receiver and had to send it in for repair. The company that backed the repair went out of business, so I got in touch w/ Abe's and I was told to send the receiver in to them and they would take care of the repair, even though the repair company went under. 3 months later, I got my receiver back in perfect working condition. The customer support people(especially Nancy) at Abe's were outstanding and I would highly recommend doing business with them:)

Their prices are great compared to other retailers. However, I will no longer attempt to order anything from Abe's. They will not ship your item unless you succumb to their attempts to upsell. My work hours are such that I could never answer their calls and they were closed by the time I could listen to the daily voicemails. I left both voice messages and emails stating that I was not interested in any other items and to ship my items as ordered* and they were completely ignored. I canceled my order after many days of this runaround.
* Heaven forbid I actually know what I'm ordering and want only what I ordered. I don't buy milk at the store only to have my time wasted at the register asking if I wanted to buy steak or chocolate mix. If you don't want my business and money, just warn me ahead of time about aforementioned tactics and I'll give my money to someone else...
Edit: Received an email regarding my review asking me to call them to talk about my experience and that they couldn't contact me directly because they had no record of my order. Subsequently I received an email from ResellerRatings stating my my review would be removed because the seller contested my order, unless I could provide proof, which I did. When I got home and checked my voicemail there was a call waiting there from Abe's left around the same time their first email was sent. I wonder how exactly they received my phone number that was listed nowhere else if not from the order information they actually had. Very deceitful tactics.

I do not know your name nor your email address or what you supposedly ordered, since there is no record on file.No order,no credit card charge ,nothing.

Nowadays local merchants often do not carry what one is looking for and it is necessary to order from unknown vendors online. I found what I wanted from Abe's of Maine, researched the company and placed my order for a Panasonic HDC-TM300 camcorder. The following day UPS notified me that it was on the way via next day service and it arrived as scheduled, well packed, in a factory sealed box in perfect working order. I would not hesitate to order from Abe's of Maine in the future.

I ordered several 4GB Cruizer Micro USB Flash Drives from Abe's of Maine web site. The price and order turn around time was outstanding. I wouldn't hesitate to order other items from this seller. The transaction went perfectly!
I placed an order for 40 inch LCD TV (over $1000) on Friday, paid through Google checkout. I went to AbesOfMaine website right after I placed the order to check the status, but I could not find the order, I thought it may take a few hours to get the order processed and I will check the order over the weekend, mind you my credit card was charged promptly few seconds after I placed the order. No such luck on their website on Saturday or Sunday, and also their customer service is patchy over the weekend so I though I would call them on Monday. When I called this morning, the person the other end, “Paul” I believe, seems to be annoyed taking my call, and multiple times told me “We don’t work Saturdays and Sundays”, and “your order is in billing it may clear today or tomorrow”. When I told him, I was hoping to receive my TV sooner, he got even more annoyed and suggested I should have known that “AbesOfMaine” does not process orders over the weekend. When I suggested please provide this information upfront to your customers –
“Do not Order from AbesOfMain on Fridays” he transferred me to someone else who appear a bit more reasonable but with same attitude as if “we don’t need your business, we are not making any money on this TV anyway……so you are welcome to take your business somewhere else”. And that is what I intend to do, I have canceled my order with AbesOfMain, and I will place my order with anothe online seller. I hope I get a refund from AbesOfMain soon, if they start doing the same trickery with my refund I am reporting them to BBB.

I got my money back from AbesOfMaine after two phone calls, one on Monday and one on Tuesday. I placed my order with another seller on Tuesday afternoon and I will receieve my TV tomorrow, the delivery guys already called today and will call again tomorrow morning before arriving at my door. Now this is what I call customer service. By the way, total cost to me was $11 more then what I would have paid at AbesOfMaine, and it was well woth it.

I have read your review and have also looked into this order.I do apologize that you feel that the person in customer service did not show any intertest in you, I can honestly say that is not the way we do business. Our goal and aim to customer satisfaction first.
I see that you had placed your order on Friday afternoon the 23rd of October , our billing and verification department leaves 2 pm on Fridays and are off on the weekends.
1- That is why you had not received any confirmation that your order had been billed or in transit.
2- Even if the billing department had been in your order would not have left until Monday there are no deliveries on the weekends.
3- All orders as in our policy take up to 24 hours to process unless it is expedited shipping.
