This is a great company and the service is real good. I ordered 4 OEM hard drives and they came packed individually in an anti-static bag and foam rubber box. The boxes were 1/2 inch thick all around and fitted the drives snugly; they are a neat idea and shows incredible concern for the product. I mean, I've received drives before that were just thrown in a box and shipped to me, wasn't even in an anti-static bag, so this was amazing. I, also, ordered a stick of memory and an OEM operating system. The memory was in an anti-static bag and taped to the software package. While this is good, so the memory doesn't get lost in the packaging material (as I'll comment on in a minute), I would like to have seen a more "hard" packing method. Something similar maybe to the way they packed the drives, but its a minor issue (well, it will be if the memory works when I install it, I haven't yet). They, also, fill the box all of the items are in with shipping peanuts and boy! do they pack it full of them, its great but annoying too. I wouldn't want them to change that packing method, but I have enough peanuts now to start my own shipping company, lol. Their shipping is terrific, all the items I ordered only cost me $2.50 to be shipped 2 day FedEx total. Well, according to the item descriptions each item was suppose to have free shipping, but when put together they charge you some for shipping. This should be clarified I think in the ordering process, but for $2.50 for 2 day shipping I'm not balking it, it is a tremendously great rate. However, if you order items that don't have the special shipping the rates move up into the just average rating. Actually, I think, if they could make it so if you order items with different shipping costs (i.e. some have free shipping and others don't) the items are shipped according to their shipping rate it would be nice. Such as, automatically group "free" shipping items into one order and normal shipping items into another) that way the we still get the shipping break on the "free" items, which doesn't happen if you mix the two up (as I discovered when initially shopping). Anyway, I find them to be a great company for whom I'll definitely do business with again. Their only competition I can find is newegg. I'll be keeping an updated review on these guys at my site http://corbinnc.tripod.com.

I am a handicapt small time computer builder. I built 3 in the past year. I purchased a hard drive and 256 meg. of memory for a new computer I am putting together. They had the best prices and I received my things in 3 days. I'd say they did very well. I only have one small problem. The hard drive is a Maxtor DMA133. The drive requires an 80-wireUDMA interface cable to make it work. This cable did not come with the drive and I don't know where or how to get one. I can't use the drive until I get that cable. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I made my first purchase from Googlegear on March 4, 2002-a Pentium III 933MHz Processor. I was pleased with the sale and the delivery options, but as a result of FedEx's mistake in mis-reading my address, they attempted delivery twice to an address a block away. When I did receive the package (3rd day for 2nd day shipping) I contacted FedEx-their tracking provided information claiming the delivery was attempted twice, but I had no slips on my door. Then a neighbor from a block down the street found the slips on his door after returning from a trip. FedEx was quick to credit the shipping fees...to Googlegear, of course. I immediately contacted Googlegear and provided them with FedEx's control # for the credit. They claimed they'd credit it back to me as soon as they processed their credit from FedEx. I then did not hear from Googlegear for weeks. My frustrated attempts to get the attention of someone at Googlegear who would solve my problem got the email reply from an employee who apologized for the problem, blamed it on mail server problems, and said it would be resolved soon. Then, the wait continued. After weeks of sending Googlegear customer service emails, most of which were ignored or lost, another reply from a rep at Googlegear with the same story as the previous one gave. Still Waiting...! More emails to them, then another reply with a slightly different story. I finally got my credit around May 18, 2002. I think most people would have given up over such a hassle, but since I didn't Googlegear eventually gave me the credit on shipping. I felt like the cost of my processor doubled as a result of all the trouble.

Dear Kent1024,
We would like to apologize on behalf of our company for the inconveniences in which took place. Normally when situations such as this take place, the process of issuing claims and processing refunds will require about 2 weeks as FedEx does not credit our company immediately. It is not until after the claim paperwork is reviewed by FedEx will they then issue the refund for shipping. It should not have taken this long for your refund to have been credited and we will definitely look into this immediately.
Sincerely,

Rolling the dice I made my first online purchase. I have ordered 3 items from Googlegear. So far 1 has arrived in fine fashion second should be here today and third is being processed as I type this. If the second 2 come as timely as the first I won't be long in ordering the rest from them. They have GREAT service and all has come packed very well. Thank you Googlegear and I look forward to buying more from you in the very near future. This review was modified by its author, space_cadet51, on

I've got to say I am disappointed this time. Exchange policy takes WAY too long. By the time I get a working device, it will have been more than two weeks since my expidited order was place. Googlegear dropped the ball this time.

I ordered an Athlon XP 1900+, 40 GB Maxtor Diamond Max HD, Googlegear case, 256 MB PC 2700 DDR RAM, and an ASUS A7V333 Motherboard. All came within a week via UPS Ground in two boxes, which arrived together. Set it up and everything is working fine. Would definitely order from them again.

Bought AMD 1900+ chip. As usual got email confirming purchase. Then received another email telling me the shipping info. Package came on time and in great condition. So no problems on the midwest front with them.

Googlegear.com is a very organized online store. I have purchased produces for this company for years. I am a hardware specialist that builds very custom systems for my customers. My total online shopping rating is very high. There is on thing that this company needs to do in the near future, and that it to “speed up” their servers because from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM the traffic on this site really slows down the online ordering process. I show my customers the parts that I order from this site and they do not like to wait very long for the web pages to come up. Please speed up your site so that there will be no more problems with this. Thank You … Larry This review was modified by its author, thepcman, on
