I'm surprised to see the rating for Googlegear at only around 6.5. I ordered an 80 gig IBM deskstar from them in late may and had no troubles dealing with the company. Deliver was quick, and I was always able to check delivery status with no problem. The drive came in and was working perfectly. I'd strongly recommend this reseller, and I would happily deal with them again in the future.

Great price. Geat service as far as delivery. I live in Alaska and we routinely get screwed by E companies as regards shipping. Googlegear shipped a 2.26 CPU for $1.00!
Googlegear PLEASE upgrade your servers! Your site is so SLOW it is ridculous!

I have done business with ZipZoomFly.com (formerly GoogleGear.com) and have had nothing but extremely great experiences with them. Their online ordering is incrediably easy, precise, and up to date. There prices are compariable and some items even beat other etailers.
The products are of high quality! Fast order processing, email notification, and order tracking. These are all qualities I look for in an online retailer.
I am happy to say I am a ZipZoomFly.com customer and will definitely order from them in the future! I highly recommend!!!! This review was modified by its author, zagith, on

This seller's shipping options suck. They can't make up their minds on how to screw you the worst. They ship by either UPS 5 day ground (you would think that if you use one shipping method, you would use others by the same company. But they don't!) or two day or overnight by FEDEX, which really is the exact same method. As to actually overnight you have to follow an insane schedule that only satan or Catbert would like!

Dear darkninja,
Please note that according to our database, your order had been placed on the evening of the 13th. Your order was then processed and shipped out the following business day (14th). Like most other companies, we are not set up with either UPS and FedEx to provide delivery services on Saturdays as we specifically state "business" days only. Therefore, your order was delivered to you on Monday the 17th.
Sincerely,

Ordered a Boxed AMD XP2100, ASUS A7V333 MOBO and Corsair PC 2700 on 06-12-02 for 2nd day all came before expected on 06-14-02 (expected on 06-17-02 as they have 1 day processing). BUT MOBO would not post, I can't fault googlegear for a bad board, I called for them for help, they answered on first ring. They were very helpful and gave me an RMA. I returned the order to be delivered next day (at my expense $40, ouch) They should get the board today 06-17-02 and we will see how long this takes ! Have ordered many times from Googlegear all was shipped on time in good working order, this if my first return experience with them and I will be back to this site to update with my experience. I am now crossing my fingers as I need this PC back soon for work.
------------------------------------
Update: Got and email from googlegear 06-18-02 after I paid $40 for next day return they want me to wait 5-7 days for resolution. So now I have $65 total in shipping costs and still no working PC, God help anyone who wants rapid service from these people, I should have just paid retail then I could have taken it back to the store for an INSTANT exchange, broke even and be using the pc now. What a joke.
------------------------------------
Update : 06-21-02 1 week to the day and now have a working PC (mobo was bad), Crosshipping would have been nice here especially for repeat customers. All is Good at Google except for the returns, if your in a hurry. They offer no solutions whatsoever to expedite the process, I even offered to pay for another board in the meantime. NO REFUNDS ON DEFECTIVE RETURNS even if they ship you a bad product. This review was modified by its author, zodjunior, on

This is a great company and the service is real good. I ordered 4 OEM hard drives and they came packed individually in an anti-static bag and foam rubber box. The boxes were 1/2 inch thick all around and fitted the drives snugly; they are a neat idea and shows incredible concern for the product. I mean, I've received drives before that were just thrown in a box and shipped to me, wasn't even in an anti-static bag, so this was amazing. I, also, ordered a stick of memory and an OEM operating system. The memory was in an anti-static bag and taped to the software package. While this is good, so the memory doesn't get lost in the packaging material (as I'll comment on in a minute), I would like to have seen a more "hard" packing method. Something similar maybe to the way they packed the drives, but its a minor issue (well, it will be if the memory works when I install it, I haven't yet). They, also, fill the box all of the items are in with shipping peanuts and boy! do they pack it full of them, its great but annoying too. I wouldn't want them to change that packing method, but I have enough peanuts now to start my own shipping company, lol. Their shipping is terrific, all the items I ordered only cost me $2.50 to be shipped 2 day FedEx total. Well, according to the item descriptions each item was suppose to have free shipping, but when put together they charge you some for shipping. This should be clarified I think in the ordering process, but for $2.50 for 2 day shipping I'm not balking it, it is a tremendously great rate. However, if you order items that don't have the special shipping the rates move up into the just average rating. Actually, I think, if they could make it so if you order items with different shipping costs (i.e. some have free shipping and others don't) the items are shipped according to their shipping rate it would be nice. Such as, automatically group "free" shipping items into one order and normal shipping items into another) that way the we still get the shipping break on the "free" items, which doesn't happen if you mix the two up (as I discovered when initially shopping). Anyway, I find them to be a great company for whom I'll definitely do business with again. Their only competition I can find is newegg. I'll be keeping an updated review on these guys at my site http://corbinnc.tripod.com.

I am a handicapt small time computer builder. I built 3 in the past year. I purchased a hard drive and 256 meg. of memory for a new computer I am putting together. They had the best prices and I received my things in 3 days. I'd say they did very well. I only have one small problem. The hard drive is a Maxtor DMA133. The drive requires an 80-wireUDMA interface cable to make it work. This cable did not come with the drive and I don't know where or how to get one. I can't use the drive until I get that cable. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I made my first purchase from Googlegear on March 4, 2002-a Pentium III 933MHz Processor. I was pleased with the sale and the delivery options, but as a result of FedEx's mistake in mis-reading my address, they attempted delivery twice to an address a block away. When I did receive the package (3rd day for 2nd day shipping) I contacted FedEx-their tracking provided information claiming the delivery was attempted twice, but I had no slips on my door. Then a neighbor from a block down the street found the slips on his door after returning from a trip. FedEx was quick to credit the shipping fees...to Googlegear, of course. I immediately contacted Googlegear and provided them with FedEx's control # for the credit. They claimed they'd credit it back to me as soon as they processed their credit from FedEx. I then did not hear from Googlegear for weeks. My frustrated attempts to get the attention of someone at Googlegear who would solve my problem got the email reply from an employee who apologized for the problem, blamed it on mail server problems, and said it would be resolved soon. Then, the wait continued. After weeks of sending Googlegear customer service emails, most of which were ignored or lost, another reply from a rep at Googlegear with the same story as the previous one gave. Still Waiting...! More emails to them, then another reply with a slightly different story. I finally got my credit around May 18, 2002. I think most people would have given up over such a hassle, but since I didn't Googlegear eventually gave me the credit on shipping. I felt like the cost of my processor doubled as a result of all the trouble.

Dear Kent1024,
We would like to apologize on behalf of our company for the inconveniences in which took place. Normally when situations such as this take place, the process of issuing claims and processing refunds will require about 2 weeks as FedEx does not credit our company immediately. It is not until after the claim paperwork is reviewed by FedEx will they then issue the refund for shipping. It should not have taken this long for your refund to have been credited and we will definitely look into this immediately.
Sincerely,
Googlegear |

Rolling the dice I made my first online purchase. I have ordered 3 items from Googlegear. So far 1 has arrived in fine fashion second should be here today and third is being processed as I type this. If the second 2 come as timely as the first I won't be long in ordering the rest from them. They have GREAT service and all has come packed very well. Thank you Googlegear and I look forward to buying more from you in the very near future. This review was modified by its author, space_cadet51, on
