I ordered a ASUS 1005HA with Windows 7 on 10/22, the day on which W7 was released. The web site showed that the item was "In Stock" (and even today it's still "In Stock"). My credit card was charged the next day. However, the status of "packed" has been there for three business days. I called ZZF and was told that the item is on back order. As many other people here complained, the way ZZF is doing business is totally unacceptable. I am still waiting for the shipment since I cannot cancel the order now (when the status is "packed").

I purchased a SATA/IDE to USB adapter cable, and once the item had shipped I received the very same device from a family member as a gift. I refused shipment and contacted ZipZoomFly for a refund. I received a response that my refund would post within 1-2 weeks. Shortly thereafter, I received an email from PayPal stating that I had received a refund for less than half the amount I paid. I waited, thinking that maybe the remaining amount would post at a later date. I waited a week and contacted customer service again, only to receive a generic "we charge a 15% restocking fee" response. I replied that the amount I was refunded was less than the purchase price, less 15%. I then received a response that they charge a $10 fee for refused shipments to cover shipping costs. This is more than I paid in the first place for expedited shipping. I'm happy to see that ZipZoomFly manages to retain more than half the purchase price for an item that was returned without even opening the shipping container. I have been a ZipZoomFly customer for more than four years and have built several PCs for clients using only ZipZoomFly parts. I'm saddened to say I will be choosing a different vendor for IT equipment from this point forward.

Two business days after my order I received the dreaded out of stock e-mail on an item I'd ordered. I've been promised a refund but haven't seen that yet on my credit card. It's still early, but that isn't my issue, my CC company will be getting a call if ZZF doesn't honor that. The price was almost $50 off regular retail and after repeated e-mails back and forth to ZipZoomFly, they won't honor the price in an out of stock situation even though they initially accepted my order. According to their terms of sale, they retain the right to cancel an order for any reason. I've been told that their prices fluctuate (I assume the wholesale price fluctuates and they base their retail from that) and that's the reason they can't sell me the item at the original price I paid. Then why sell it to me in the first place? They said I can be notified when the product is back in stock but I would pay the "fluctuated" price. So I might pay the same, I might not, all I wanted was a guarantee I'd pay the advertised price when I first placed my order. Like I said, why'd they take the order initially in the first place if they couldn't hold up their end. Shoddy business policy if you ask me. I've been a customer for years, I can't say I will be much longer. Their reviews on ResellerRatings are slipping as well.
Update (10/26/09):
A week and a half after my order, still no refund. I'm not even bothering with customer service. AMEX is getting a call. This review was modified by its author, sla161, on

Placed an order for a bluray drive that the website said was in stock. Status said packed for 3 days. Guess what? It wasn't in stock. I called to check on status, CSR said they ran out and are checking to see when it would be in stock again. Then she says they got them in stock yesterday and I should recieve a tracking number later today. We will see.
This is my last order with this company. Knew I should have ordered through Newegg.
ZZF need to re-think their business strategy if they want to stay in business.

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!
The manager "Mike" was a complete ****, rude, arrogant, condescending, and unhelpful.
The site advertises a final price of $74.99 on their hitachi 500gb mobile hard drives. However what they don't tell you anywhere on that page, or on the cart page is that you only get one rebate. So when I purchased 4 I could only get one 15.00 rebate (13.00 if I wanted my rebate any faster than 10 weeks)...
I have ordered from them before and the previous limit for hitachi hard drive rebates was 5 (which was clearly stated) In this case they are obviously being deceptive in hiding the fact that you will only get one no matter how many hard drives you order...
STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT BUY HARD DRIVE FROM THIS SITE. There return replace policy (which requires a little hunting to find) is 15 days from when item ships! shipping which could be 7 days itself leaves you with 8 days to test item and contact them if it is bad. I installed drive 10/4 and on 10/14 it was dead. I called zip%^#*fly.com on 10/15 and was told sorry but your 17 days out from ship date get a referb from WD. I have ordered from them in the pasts and fortunately everything worked. I was really shocked by their attitude, but the worst part was when their customer service rep told me that they were out of the drive I had ordered only to log on to their site and see the item in stock!
THIS IS MY LAST PURCHASE FROM ZIPZOOMFLY.COM
and, by the way the 1st review I have ever written.

Hello I have had relatively little experience with Zipzoomfly as i have only ordered about 5 things from them this year. But the items I have ordered from them All arrive in perfect condition with pretty decent shipping time. Zipzoomfly is starting to really compete with their prices and might end up being a steady place for me to order my electronics from. I have not needed to use their customer service or contact them so can't comment on that department but on prices and shipping they are great.

Best price around on the product I wanted, and they had a rebate. However, they are inconvenient as hell with their "order verification" procedure. I was unable to use my normal credit card because of their billing vs shipping address policies. I used a different debit card to avoid the hassle, and they STILL held my order. Great prices, but it comes at a price.

I ordered 6GB of memory on a Friday evening, as ZipZoomFly had it for the best price. I received an immediate order confirmation, and a shipping notice on Monday. The correct memory arrived two days later, immaculately packed.

So I decided to buy a HIS 5850 from zipzoomfly seeing that they are the only ones in stock with the item. The next day my item was listed as "packed" and stayed that way for 3 days. So I finally called up to see why they haven't shipped the package yet and i come to find out its on back order. So they charge your credit card, do not keep you notified on the status of your order, and continue to show the item as "In Stock" on their website (they finally put it as being out of stock 2 days after my order was placed). Thanks for wasting my time ZZF, and losing a customer.. I knew I should of just stuck with Newegg.

Worst Customer Service Ever! Do not order from these guys, especially since there always exists other online vendors with similar stock and prices. Even if another company is a few bucks more, I would Stay Away from ZipZoomFly
I must comment on not only the poor service I received from the company itself, but also from the customer service "Supervisor" Michael.
My order has been stalled for almost a week, listed as "packed" under the order status. Basically, the order was processed but not shipped (like an online purgatory) Meanwhile, I'm still waiting for my order like a idiot. Never did I receive an email alerting me to the fact that the item was now "back-ordered", until I decided to personally called the company to inquire about my order. Michael told me that they ran out of the item a few days ago, but they were expecting new ones soon. Apparently they were content with simply letting me stew in my own ignorance. Now, keep in mind this is in direct opposition to their written online policy to email customers and allow them to cancel should an item become unexpectedly back-ordered. This is all in spite of the fact that my credit card was charged immediately after my order.
When I purchased, I paid for expedited shipping (2day), so that I may have my order by the time I needed it, which obviously did not happen. When I asked when I would receive my item, he told me he couldn't say exactly. In this day and age, especially with tracked expedited shipping, how can he not know that? How can he expect me to wait around, while plenty of other online merchants conduct better business more quickly?
When I asked to then cancel my order, "supervisor" Michael told me he could put in a cancel request to the warehouse, but cannot guarantee anything (what the heck does that mean?) When I asked to speak to someone else, he stated that he was the only one I could speak to. At no point was any attempt made to rectify the company's error or poor service. I had to ask for an apology. Basically I was told that maybe my order would be canceled, or maybe it wouldn't, and that no one in the company could do anything more than that, at least according to Michael. Please keep in mind that they charged my credit card 4 business days ago. They were basically holding my money hostage, not sending me my order, and refusing to tell me what was going on.
The idea of ordering from a smaller company is that they should be able to offer better customer service, not worse. This was a terrible experience ordering from them, and it certainly won't happen again.

ZZF started handling and offering their own rebates instead of marking the items down. ZZF believes the odds are in their favor that we will not file or we will screw up the rebate paperwork. For those whom do file a rebate with ZZF don't ever expect to receive one red cent.
It has been over 100 days since my rebate was mailed and it took over a month to be approved, I don’t ever expect to receive this rebate and if I do I will update this post. I have made no new purchases from ZZF due to the non payment of this rebate and I will continue to BOYCOTT Zipzoomfly until I receive the monies promised.
This whole rebate industry is one giant scam built on the theory that we are lazy, forgetful and will not take the time to mail the rebate.
Their is no reason one cannot receive his rebate in just a few weeks especially with ZZF since they already have the documentation that you purchased the item within the correct time frame.
Poor customer service ZZF.
@ This time I would advise all too just take you business elsewhere. Other Companies whom can be found on the net have excellent customer service and are actually interested in satisfying their customers.
