I purchased a Sapphire RADEON 9800 ATLANTIS 128MB 128-bit DDR AGP8X TVO/DVI (OEM). It was in a retail box with a driver disk. The item appeared to be defective as it had a white reside around all the capacitors on the card. They told me this was normal and was probably flux. The card went out after 6 months. I got an RMA, packaged it in the original box as received with driver disk, and I paid to send it back. The resent the card saying it had tested fine. It was DOA! I called and got another RMA packaged it in the box as received with driver disk, and paid again to send it back. This time they said it was bad. They said they would make good on it. I received the card in a flimsy box with no driver disk. It is the same card with the white residue. I have a picture but nothing near the quality it was. I believe they sent me a refurbished card represented as a new card. They will not return my calls and have not returned my driver disk. Watch out for this merchant!

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL
RUN SCREAMING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION.
Bought a Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 nForce4 motherboard from ASS and it was received defective - it becomes unstable while running 3D apps (Aquamark3D, Call of Duty, Battlefield 1942). Board is NOT O/Ced and is set to DEFAULT in BIOS. Swapped RAM, video card and PS and it locks up anywhere from immediately to 10-15 minutes after starting 3D app.
Allstarshop basically told me to go pound sand - NO refund, NO exchange. They told me I had to go through Gigabyte for any return/repair -- let me tell ya, so far THAT'S been an ordeal I wouldn't wish on anyone. After nearly 2 weeks worth of e-mails (no actual people work at Gigabyte, apparently), they finally e-mailed me 2 forms to fill out to APPLY for an RMA number. I don't have a good feeling about this, either.
That $155 for the motherboard was the last cash you will ever receive from me. Hope it was worth it to you. This review was modified by its author, Angry_Kid, on

On July 31 I ordered almost $300 in fans, a powersupply, and a video card. After several days of the order not shipping, I recived a call saying they were out of one of the case fans I needed and would substitute a different one. Because of this the order did not ship until August 5. When I finally got the order, I found that the substitueded fan was the wrong size and could not be used. After installing everything else, I also found the graphics card was deffective. I boxed the card up and sent it back to allstarshop, on my dime. RMA status shows that when the RMA was recieved it was quickly tested and found defective, then I didn't hear a word form allstarshop. After a week went by with no word, I called up. I was told that the card had to be sent back to the manufacturer and they wouldn't have the card back for another 2 weeks. When I figure another week for ground shipping that would be 3 more weeks! By this time it was already August 27, almost a full month after I bought the card! I told the rep. I just wanted to have a refund. So after all of this inconvienience I was still charged a 15% restocking fee for somthing that shouldn't be restocked. All of this was given with little apology or caring. As of September 1st I have yet to see this refund in my bank account.
Shipping back to allstarshop $8.00
Restocking fee $24.90
Total lost from dealing with allstar shop $32.90
Be shure to factor that in when you look at their low prices.
Thanks Allstarshop.com!

I've had good experiences purchasing from this company in the past. I won't buy from them in the future though because of the way they botched a recent order and refused to rectify the situtation. I ordered a Radeon card several weeks ago. At the time, the website indicated that the card was in stock. I received an email soon after saying that the item was out of stock and asked if would I like to cancel the order. I asked if they could hold the order for a week to see if they received more. KL at allstarshop agreed. The following week I noticed that the website showed they were in stock again so I assumed my order would ship. Then I received a notice that my order had been cancelled. I emailed KL and asked why my order was cancelled when they had more in stock within a week of my order and the website was still showing in-stock status. She responded that I needed to place my order again because the original order had been cancelled. So, I went to reorder the card but noticed the price had gone up by 15%. I emailed KL again and asked her to reinstate my original order because of the price increase. She responded back that she tried to but they were suddenly out of stock. So, within an hour of my verifying that they had the card in stock on their website, it was now mysteriously showing that they were out of stock again. She asked if I wanted to keep my order open. Why would I bother? I waited three weeks for a card that they had in stock and they never bothered to fulfill my order. I'll stick with Newegg from now on.

Horrible customer service. I wish I had never ordered from this company. After a problem that I could not have forseen, and they did not warn me about, all I get is "tough luck, and thanks for letting us charge you 15% to 're-stock' this item, oh yea, and make sure to ship it well cause you will pay for all of it and if its broken when it gets here, it's your fault too."
Now I am in the hole $30 and I have lost 15 days of computer use and have nothing to show for it. Their phone customer support was horrible and they did not even read my RMA email and the problem I was having, instead they sent me a generic email back telling me tough luck.

Ordered Sapphire 9500 on 11/15. Received order on 11/20. Good so far. Card ran OK for a couple of days.
On 11/22/2003 I started noticing slight corruption of graphics. Upon rebooting the display had become a big pattern of blocks So I filled out there RMA request form online, ( All RMA applications must be filed online, something to consider) and awaited a response. The next business day I received an email saying I had not given them the correct serial number from the card (there were 3 to choose from) so I re-sent every number listed on the card. Received the RMA number the next day 11/25/2003 and shipped it out that same day.
Forward to 12/4, haven't heard a word from them, so I checked the RMA status on their website;
The RMA was received on 12/1/2003 and was tested on 12/1/2003
The RMA is pending for parts allocation.
The RMA will be completed no later than 12/15/2003.
(Hopefully it won't be too much longer than a month after my order that I receive a working card.)
I called the RMA phone number they provided in an email hoping for a little clarification and got zero info/help from the cutomer service rep. This was my first & last dealing with this company as I am not at all satisfied with their service when it comes to returns. I actually came here before buying it and figured the relatively good rating was worth the gamble. It would seem that all the people giving good ratings have not had to return anything, as further reading of comments showed me the majority of the bad ratings are from people who had to return something. I regret not using newegg as I normally do. The few dollars less in price isn't worth it in the long run...

All is fine and dandy until you to need return a defective product. Lesson learned -- avoid this company.
I ordered a video card with through this company. The s-video out was terrible and produced a fuzzy image. My other cards s-video out worked in the same machine with the same s-video cable without a problem. I RMA the video card on 10/9/03. The response I get is that they must receive the card by 10/15/03. This left me with only FOUR business days to return the card because of the weekend. Even though, they claim to have a 30 day return policy and 10 to ship from issuance of RMA -- it turns out their real policy is 30 days period. This is not clearly stated. So if your item breaks down on day 29 from invoice, you have TWO days to get an RMA and mail it back to allstarshop or you're screwed. This is completely unreasonable.

Got DEAD card / Repeatedly Ignored by Vendor / All Negative reviews omitted ... :-(
The video card arrived completely DEAD and the vendor IGNORED all 7 of our requests for a replacement until AFTER the 30 return expiration had passed. (!!!) Been trying to resolve this ever since, without success.
Now they refuse to post my CORDIAL but NEGATIVE customer reviews. Guess they want everyone to think they are perfect. ...
Obviously, I certainly would NOT recommend this vendor!! This review was modified by its author, Susquehannock, on

I ordered a video card from Allstarshop on June 8. Their price dropped by $18 before they were able to ship, but they were uninterested in giving me the lower price or cancelling the order. Their delivery was 2 full days slower than any of the four other vendors I ordered from that day.
But here's what really upset me. Their return policy states that any item (excluding certain other categories) can be returned within 30 days for a refund if not satisfied. Well, I requested a return authorization about a week later because I needed the money for an unexpected medical expense. They refused to issue a return authorization so I guess I'll just have to recover whatever I can by reselling this thing on Ebay. Their justification is a small line of fine print several pages into the item's description which states that the item cannot be returned (in direct contradiction to the storewide return policy listed on their support page).
So, here's what I learned from this order:
1) Allstarshop will lock your price but may not ship for several days. They will not refund any price drops nor let you cancel the order when their price becomes noncompetitive.
2) Allstarshop is slower than 80% of other online vendors
3) Most importantly, Allstarshop cheerfully lies through their teeth about their return policy. Caveat emptor. This review was modified by its author, BDS_ATX, on

We had a motherboard emergency in the office and I ordered one overnight air through AllStar Micro based on the customer service ratings on this site as well as a recommendation from one of my employees. Unfortunately it was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. The MB sent was defective, and AllStar's complete detachment from the situation was appalling. They may treat large customers with more concern and courtesy, but what they don't realize is they've just lost a large customer over a very small order. Shameful.

I ordered an Antec 1060Plus case w/ side panel fan on the 25th and received it on the 28th. Unfortunately, it wasn't the correct case. They sent me the 1060Plus without the side panel vent. Three e-mails on the 28th and 29th garnered no response. Since ASM didn't stock the side panels, I ordered from Newegg for $19 w/ $7 S&H. I needed the side panel as the customer needed his computer.
I spoke with a customer service person on the 3rd of Sep. (today) and told him the situation. I also told him that the web store was STILL showing the wrong case (even after my e-mail the previous week telling them of the problem). I wanted them to reimburse me for the $26 that it cost me to fix their screw-up. I was told they could only reimburse me for the cost of the panel ($19). After telling me they couldn't reimburse me for the shipping costs, he told me that since it was their screw-up, they would send me a shipping label so I could send the case back. Then they would send me the correct case. In other words, they were willing to eat the cost of shipping a computer case twice (there and back to me), but not willing to simply reimburse me for the $7 shipping it cost me to order the correct part from another vendor. Absolutely amazing.
Now, this $110 case (available w/o the side panel fan for that price from several vendors) has cost me over $180.
ASM had every opportunity to make this right by refunding me the WHOLE amount it cost me to fix their mistake, but they chose not to. The $7 they "saved" lost a potential good customer forever, one who had never shopped at ASM before (and never will again). A customer who purchases hundreds of dollars a week online. They won't see a penny of it.
Thank God for Newegg.

Quick delivery, good prices, but return policy is awful. If you buy from them, assume that you will not be able to return your item.

Called at 11am PST to verify the video card I wanted was in stock and the lady on the phone said it was and if I got the order in before noon, it would ship the same day. Not two minutes after I put down the phone, I had ordered it online. Check the next day and it still hasn't shipped so I call again to find out what's going on; turns out the company is still shipping other orders so now, I would not receive the card by the end of the week. Now I paid an additional $20 for faster shipping because they couldn't process orders fast enough. Price on the card wasn't great and shipping is slow. Overall, I won't be going back. If Newegg can provide a decently-priced and quickly-shipped part, why can't Allstar? This review was modified by its author, THT123, on
