UPDATE:
I emailed Richard Wallet, Executive Vice-President at Tigerdirect. Here is his very satisfactory response (which came within ONE HOUR (!!!) of my email to him):

Mr. ********,
Thanks for bringing this email to my attention. I apologize for the inconvenience caused by your shipment not being delivered in the timeframe you expected it. I will arrange to immediately credit the $**** shipping charge back to your credit card.
I don’t understand why UPS is claiming that the ship date was 7/26 when it was delivered to them the day before. We will work that out with UPS, though.
I will also forward your email to our call center manager who will review the appropriateness of the response you received from our web response team.
As a long time employee of the past 12 years and an officer of this company I take great pride in the level of customer service we provide 100% of the time and I am personally disappointed when customers are let down. We are always working to improve the ways we can satisfy customers with better service, product selection and, of course, our famous deals. I hope that you will still think favorably of TigerDirect.com again the next time you’re in the market for anything PC-related.
If I can be of any further assistance please don’t hesitate to contact me again.
Richard Wallet

It is very nice to see personalized customer service that corrects a mistake that the company made. I commend Mr. Wallet and tigerdirect.com for this response.

Don't bother paying extra for 2nd day air. I ordered a Compaq tablet PC six days ago(7/24/2003), paying for second day air and the PC has not yet arrived. Tiger's "track order" website posted a UPS tracking number on 7/25, but this tracking number did not appear on the UPS website for 12 hours after that, and then only as "billing info received."
Also, expect no phone support and rude email customer support. I called first, and after 34 minutes on hold I gave up. Then I emailed them to complain about the late arrival of the PC, explaining to them that I had already contacted UPS with the tracking number. I received this brief, canned reply: "Unfortunately, you will have to contact ups about the late shipment. The tracking number is 1Z64X2*********." The claim that "an item ordered today ships today" is FALSE!
So, avoid Tigerdirect if you can find a similar price elsewhere. If not, use them at your risk and expect the worst.
