The majority of reviews posted on this website pertain to the purchasing experience of Power Notebook customers. This review is about my service experience from Power Notebooks.
After owning my notebook for 2˝ years, I shipped it to Power Notebooks Service Dept to be serviced. I have Powernotebooks.com 3 year warranty. The overall experience was less than pleasant. My notebook was in service for almost 2 months. The bottom line when the computer was returned it worked, but, my notebook LCD cover came back from their service dept scratched and dented.
Prior to shipping, I took pictures of my notebook which clearly shows that there was no damage to my LCD cover prior to sending it to their service dept. Power Notebooks Tech Support Dept suggests that an owner take photos of their notebook prior to shipping it to service and I did just that.
When my notebook was returned, I opened the shipping box and immediately discovered scratches and dents to my LCD cover. I called Tech Support to report this damage. I emailed 6 before and after photos placing arrows pointing to the damaged areas of my LCD cover.
After waiting nearly 2 months for my notebook, and then, receiving it damaged, I am very disappointed. Next, I receive a request for more photos. Instead of Power Notebooks taking care of the damage, my photos are now being called into question.
At this point, Donald Stratton emails me. He states I sent my notebook with pre-existing damage. I am accused of providing pictures of everything except the damaged area and manipulating my photos to prove my claim. Donald suggests I send more un-manipulated photos of the LCD cover or abandon my claim.
I write Donald that I stand by my before photos indicating that there was no damage to my notebook LCD cover prior to shipping it to his repair facility. I had no more photos. At this point, I feel that it is useless to pursue my claim. But, I wanted to obtain information to get my LCD cover replaced.
I email Donald making one last request of him. I asked him for the name and phone number of a repair facility where I could have my LCD cover replaced at my own expense. His response was I might try Googling for a Compal HEL80 LCD cover and if I can find one, install it myself, or take it to a local qualified repair shop. It surprises me that a company that specializes in computers for 10 years would be unable to provide me a referral to fix the problem.
After posting my review on Reseller Ratings, I receive another email from Donald. He says I am not addressing the issue at hand and continues to maintain that my before photos do not prove my case. He asks me why I would make a post which is only going to make people shake their heads in disbelief and ask themselves is this guy really that dense?
Next, I receive an email from Power Notebooks Tech Support Dept stating their factory service dept had completed their investigation and attached a visual form indicating my notebook LCD cover had scratches, dents and scuffs upon receipt. This visual inspection form was emailed to me after I posted my review at Reseller Ratings. It seems strange that after all of the events that I have just listed above, a handwritten visual inspection form would be sent to me. Included in this email was a denial of my claim.
The following day I received an email stating that I was trying to scam Power Notebooks. I was accused of cropping my photos and what I was doing constituted blackmail and would likely be punishable as a federal crime meaning that if they involved the FBI in this matter, that would be very bad news for you.
I responded that my notebook cover was not scratched before I sent it in for repairs. I have my original photographs that the FBI may examine. I reiterated that I would replace my laptop LCD cover at my expense. I have no demands of Power Notebooks, I am not trying to scam or blackmail Power Notebooks. My claim was denied. I take them at their word.
The purpose of Reseller Ratings is to help buyers make educated purchasing decisions. The purpose of my Reseller Ratings review of Power Notebooks is to truthfully share my service experience with this merchant.
I had high expectations of Power Notebooks. My sales experience and the quality of their tech support is very positive. But, then, I was accused of bullying Power Notebooks into repairing the damage caused by their Service Dept. This is far from the truth. The above statements are backed-up by written email correspondences I have received.
Having Power Notebooks perform service to my notebook has been a very stressful experience for me. I will not be doing business with Power Notebooks again. I hope that no other person will have to go through the issues and problems that I have encountered with PowerNotebooks.com
This review supersedes my review dated 7-1-09.

When you have been in business for over 10 years as we have, providing the best in customer service to tens of thousands of satisfied customers, I guess we are bound to end up with a handful of those who want something for nothing. A few will try to persuade, a few will try to bully, and a very, very few will try to scam their way to their goal.
When busnut made the claim that he received his 2.5 year old laptop back damaged by us, and included his "before" and "after" pictures that he had moved to a .pdf file (instead of sending the originals), it was immediately obvious to anyone looking at the pictures that the areas about which he was complaining were either cropped out of or were simply not in his "before" picture.
Take a look yourself at
http://tinyurl.com/busnut
You will see both the "before" and "after" pictures he submitted, as well as our Incoming Inspection Report where we had already noted the existing damage.
Having received his pictures and his claim, we opened an investigation and requested the original of a "before" picture that actually showed the areas of the LCD cover that he was claiming were damaged by us. No, we did not disclose our Incoming Inspection Report at that time since it already appeared to us that the claim was disingenuous, and we wanted him to show us an original, un-manipulated picture of the entire LCD cover, instead of his previously submitted "before" picture that was either cropped, or was taken in such a way so as to exclude the damaged areas.
As he said in his post "I had no more photos." even though we had asked him to take "before" pictures prior to sending his laptop in for repairs, and he said he had done exactly that. So as you can see by looking at the pictures and Inspection Report at the link above, we had little choice but to deny his claim.
We also did not feel comfortable recommending a colleague to service this customer.
Now, as for the "FBI" email we cannot comment because, even though his inference might seem to indicate it came from PowerNotebooks.com, it definitely did not.
We are really sad to have a situation end up this way, because as you can see from the other posts here and in several other public forums, PowerNotebooks.com constantly strives to provide top quality laptops and the very best in customer service after the sale.

PowerNotebooks.com is one of those rare companies that takes a vested interest in its customers and potential customers. When I initially called, I was put through to Donald Stratton, the owner of PowerNotebooks. Mr. Stratton and I talked at length about a configuration for a college laptop that would also be more than sufficient at gaming, yet could maintain a decent battery life. Every component from the Hard Drive to the Processor to even the memory was gone over with with a fine-toothed comb in order to ensure that I got just the laptop I needed. Never in the process did I feel I was being pushed to buy more product than I needed, nor did I feel that I was being "talked-down to".
I was able to order the laptop tailored to the way I wanted it, with the accessories necessary to handle day to day college operations. The initial ship date was placed at July 6th so that I could get the windows 7 coupon that I wanted, and Donald and his staff ensured that the np8662 I ordered would leave on time and in proper order. I received confirmation phone calls every step of the way, regular e-mails to the status of my laptop, and was called and asked if I desired next day saturday UPS delivery as it was ready on June 26, 2009 (a week and a half early than originally planned).
True to Donald and his staff's words, the laptop arrived on Saturday, June 27, 2009 in perfect condition with all peripheries, windows 7 coupon, in mint condition wrapped in a plastic sheath, with case and extra battery and everything. Upon starting the laptop up, everything worked fine, empirically the laptop is perfect. No dead pixels, no flat spots, no flex. Perhaps what is most important is that PowerNotebooks.com and staff are there to answer questions and give you the laptop you need, no more and no less.
It's an equally great feeling when a company also takes the time to write post-delivery to ensure your laptop is exactly the way you wanted it, and be available to answer any and all inquiries in regards to the laptop. I went from being a skeptic to being a loyal PowerNotebooks customer, and Donald and his crew are CONSUMMATE professionals. Small the company may be, Big the customer service is, pre, during, and post-purchase.
Would definitely deal with again without reservation.

Very nice experence, didn't feel as if they were trying to sell me stuff i didn't want or need when I called them. Laptop was a bit later then i expected but that was due to Sager not having the brand new Intel chips because Intel was a bit slow getting them out. All in all was well worth the wait.

My sales rep, Donald, was extremely helpful when i was buying my laptop from them.
He even let me know that processor prices were dropping soon, and that if i would like to wait a little while longer in order to get a better processor for the same price.
He also informed me of price drops in hard drive prices, and refunded me accordingly
All in all, i'd say Power Notebooks has VERY good customer service, and i would reccomend anyone looking for a laptop to at least check them out first

I did research on the net for a week before I contacted Powernotebooks.com. This was a major purchase for me and I wanted to find someone who would work with me, not pressure me, explain things and not try to sell me things I didn't need. Donald at Powernotebooks.com is that guy. When I told him I was interested in a Sager 9280 he asked me where I wanted to use it. I told him at home and in the car, as I need a computer in the car for my business. He recommended the 8662 because of the wattage draw of the 9280. How many times do you see a salesman try to "sell down". This lowered the price and that sold me on the company right there. I bought the 8662 with the new P9700 processor and I could not be more pleased. These guys look after their customers, have the lowest prices and give good advice. I kept waiting for the negative side to show but everything stayed positive. I will be back (hopefully not soon). This review was modified by its author, devtran1, on

This was my first time utilizing Power Notebooks services and finding a word to describe my satisfaction with their work is borderline impossible. The Customer service is absolutely second to none. Friendly, courteous, and reliable are understatements. There is no doubt in my mind that my next laptop will be ordered through them. Amazing work Power Notebooks, and thank you again for your assistance and service.

I recently purchased the Sager NP9280 from PowerNotebooks. The staff were very curteous and very helpful in making the transaction possible given the difficulty of verifying your identity when deployed to Afghanistan.
They stayed in touch with me during the build and shipment of the notebook and answered any questions I had.
The notebook itself is amazing with a 17" screen, 3 HDDs, Nvidia GTX 280 GPU.. Runs all my games on highest settings with no drop in performance noticeable. The price is great for a gaming computer considering what toshiba and alienware think theirs are worth, which is alot more $$$ for alot less.
I definitly suggest this company for anyone who needs a powerful, semi-mobile :P, affordable gaming notebook.

PowerNotebooks offers it all: a wide variety of laptops to choose from based on your needs whether it's power for gaming or less demanding applications, competitive pricing, solid build quality, and of course, fantastic customer service. My latest order shipped exactly when I was notified it would, and I am very satisfied with it (Sager 5797). I have been a PowerNotebooks customer since 2006, and as long as they keep doing business the way they are doing, my next laptop will be shipping from PowerNotebooks as well.

I ordered a Sager np5797 laptop from PowerNotebooks.com and I am very pleased with their customer service. I originally ordered the laptop with a 2.66GHz core 2 duo and the next day I was emailed back by PowerNotebooks and they said a new 2.8GHz processor was coming out in a month and asked if I would like to wait and upgrade to the 2.8GHz for no extra cost. I didn't need the laptop right away so I waited. After they received the new processors they shipped the computer UPS on Wednesday and I received the computer in Alaska on Friday, 2 days later, impressive.
The only problem I had with PowerNotebooks is that it cost me a little extra to ship to Alaska. After I ordered PowerNotebooks called me up and told me it was going to cost more to ship to Alaska, which was nice of them, but it would be better if they had a price option for Alaskans on their website so that there are no surprises. This wasn't a big deal though. I half expected the shipping to cost more because the same thing happened to my brother when he ordered his laptop a few months earlier.
I highly recommend PowerNotebooks if you are looking to buy a new laptop. They have the most up to date hardware at very competitive prices. I will certainly buy from them again in the future.

Powernotebooks is absolutely the best company in the world. This is my second laptop from them I couldn't be happier. I ordered the Sager 9280 and absolutely love it!!!. Thier customer service is top notch and can't be beaten. I have to say that Powernotebooks is the only company that I feel completely at ease with in paying thousands of dollars for a product and know I'm getting my money's worth. I will never go back to any other company for my gaming needs (take that alienware/Dell) Powernotebooks has a customer for life!!!!!

I have had a great experience so far with powernotebooks.com - I knew the computer I wanted to buy (a Sager NP8662), but was having trouble deciding which of the many resellers I should use. I selected powernotebooks.com after reading a number of positive reviews about their good customer service, and haven't regretted it since. Donald, the owner, spent at least an hour on the phone with my dad going over different options, and kept in constant contact with us throughout the ordering process. It turns out that Sager decided to discontinue the processor I ordered and replace it with a better one, and made this decision about two days after I ordered my computer - Donald emailed me and asked if I would like to wait a week and have the better processor in my computer for free. It came on time and with all the drivers already installed, and Donald even emailed later the same day to make sure it had arrived in good condition! Top notch customer service and a thus-far sturdy and reliable product.

Powernotebooks was tremendous! I called to ask about the turnaround time for orders, and they connected me with an "associate." I thought I would get high pressure sales, but it turns out they connected me with Donald, the owner. He answered all of my questions and even directed me to a less expensive model with a better warranty. Although I went with a different machine, his candor and advice were a great help. They accommodated my need for the product to be ready before a business trip without any hiccups. In fact, I was surprised that the laptop arrived a full week prior to when I needed it. They called to confirm the order before processing. I wasn't afraid to purchase from them online, but the added security was nice.
The only hiccup was with a few Sager drivers, but that has nothing to do with powernotebooks. The drivers all worked fine. The XP install required a bit of tweaking, but nothing that took more than one phone call to Sager, the provided bootable CD, and 2 minutes. Overall, the service and product have proven better than expected.

Flat out best customer service ever. Not enough can be said about Powernotebook's staff and professionalism. Not only is their staff great but my Sager 5797 is awesome too. I ordered my 5797 April 21 and received it on time, as expected on, May 14. My representative was Donald and he is quite the helper. There was one case in particular I was concerned about something and he corresponded with me by email well after 1 am. Never have had better service. Please do not buy anywhere else except PowerNoteBooks.com.
