I ordered a scanner from this company on January 26, and then did the search for reviews - so I expected to be ripped off. Instead, my package arrived sooner than promised, the product is complete and brand new. Although the box had been previously opened, none of the sealed plastic bags were opened. And, to date, my credit card has not been charged. I made one phone call which was promptly answered by a poorly trained person who promised me an email the next day with the tracking number. I did receive an email a couple days later but no tracking number. I sent a nasty email but the next day, the scanner was delevered. I probably would not buy anything else from them based on their sloppy business practices, but at least this one customer has had a good expereince.

This is the worst so called company ever.
No where in their listings do they say that the item is refurbished or used, which means, under the law that the item is new, factory sealed in retail box. I noticed they appeared to have the best price on a canon fax machine, so I called them to make sure the item was NEW and they assured me it is/was. However, they would not confirm this in writing/on email when I asked them several times on email. However, I received a refurbished item, that even looked USED, and it was sold and advertised as NEW. No wonder the price appeared so reasonable/low on this item, because it was NOT new. It was shipped in a plain brown box with the words REFURBISHED taped over on the outside of the box!! This is totally illegal. I immediately sent the item back and it has been 45 days and I still have not received a refund back to my credit card. Luckily, I have disputed this item with my credit card company (within 30 days of purchase), so I am not worried. I absolutely hate his company. They fast talk you on the phone and they do NOT answer emails and they are located in BROOKLYN, NY of course! Total scammers. When I called to complain they begged me to keep the item and claimed they would give me a lower price, I said HECK NO. They do not keep their word on anything anyway! Get it in writing folks or it means nothing with this company (and legally)!! This review was modified by its author, perrypopeye, on

WARNING: One among of the worst site, stay away from it!
I was under pressure to get a Christmas gift in time (and doing it from abroad, even more pressure) I didn't have time to look up this site thru resellerratings.com, and I'm paying for my mistake: no Christmas gift ever showed up at my love one's door!
Here is their exact 'confirmation email', which the moment I read it, I already sensed something will go wrong.

I never actually received the item I ordered. I ordered it on Dec. 7th. It was going to be a Christmas gift. I inquired today about why the item was not received and an email was sent. I asked why there was a delay in contacting me and the individual only repeated that an email had been sent. Now, I have to scramble to find another one of these before Christmas. And I have no idea why it should take them 11 days to send me an email noting they are out of an item when the item was supposed to have shipped to my home within 7 days. And why are they selling items they do not have? I noticed that the item is still listed on their site. I would bet that if you ordered it now, they would accept your payment. I will avoid doing any business with this company and recommend that buyers to use caution with his one.

Not a good experience. I had to call several days after submitting the order to find out when they were going to ship the DVD/CD player I purchased. When it arrived, it was in a Yamaha box, but when I opened the package, it had clearly been re-packaged. The DVD player was wrapped in bubble wrap and broken styrofoam. I called Hot Buys to determine whether I had in fact purchased a NEW DVD player. They gave me a bunch of crap about how and why it may have been repackaged. They have offered for me to return the item, which I very well may do. I did not feel like this is a trustworthy merchant.

When I did not get any shipment confirmation in 8 days I became suspicious. They said I must wait at least 10 days since I did not pay for "expedited shipping", but they charged my credit card day ONE. Then they said they might run out of stock before they can ship. Then I wanted to cancel and he said there would be a big cancellation charge. DO NOT USE THIS VENDOR.

DO NOT BUY YOUR PRODUCT FROM HOTBUYSELETRONICS.COM!!! It has been 17 days I have bought a GPS from this site and ONLY TODAY I RECEIVED AND EMAIL SAYING THE PRODUCT WAS BEEN SHIPPED TO ME!! It will be a 20 day wait by the time my GPS arrives--that is if I am lucky!). I do not recommend this store.

I ordered a Canon lens from this company and they called me the next day to ask if I wanted to pay an additional $100 for the U.S. version of the lens. If I kept my order at the original price, I would receive a grey market lens with no U.S. warranty, which they don't say on their web site. They called before sending me a confirmation with an order number, and I believe that this is a deliberate attempt to prevent people from filing complaints like this with corresponding order numbers. Very bad business practices all around!

Very dissatisfied. Do not buy from this merchant! Terrible customer service and easily the worst experience I've ever had buying things online. This review was modified by its author, bscjd, on

Great service. Owner was on an extended break when I made the order but he contacted me promptly when he returned. I ordered a Sigma API 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG Macro HSM Lens from him and he called to verify specifically which camera that I was purchasing the lens for and what sort of fittings I needed for my camera.

The worst experience ever! The camera I received was broken and they refused to refund my money. They were rude and stuck me with the return postage charges on top of the bad experience. Beware, don't do business with this vendor!!

I completed an online purchase from this merchant for a Garmin GPS unit for $219.98. I printed my invoice and warranty info after the transaction.
I received a cell call 2 hours later from a rep of this store telling me the price was incorrect and now its $335.00. Too me this is FRAUD, I have a completed transaction invoice, and now its not being honored.

Don't buy from this company! They did not send me the items I ordered and then lied about a follow-up shipment. I first ordered a camera lens and adapter for my camera. The lens came, but no adapter. I called and they said it was their mistake (Howard at 718-789-9119) because the invoice did not print the part number from their computer. Howard said that he would ship the adapter overnight. The next day it did not come. I called back and he admitted that they did not have the part, tried to blame it on me, their website and everything else. He finally admitted that he lied about sending the adapter when I asked him for the UPS tracking number. They want me to pay return shipping after I already paid $27 for the original shipping charge. I am still disputing the charge to get my money back. Save yourself the trouble and don't do business with this company.

This company is a fraud, and the worst thing is they are not ashamed of it. The $400 item I ordered never shipped and after several calls to them I finally had to cancel the order. I will feel very lucky if I get my credit card refunded. Looks like I'm among the many unfortunate victims.
