Ordered a camera from their coundown clock special. Thought the $75 lower price was special and I got a great deal. My first time and last to ever trust or buy from them again as they cancelled my order saying it was a price mistake!
They only sold 20 at this price and thought it was an honest add but I was the one that was tricked!
Ordered a Sony digital camera from them at a very low price. It was an ecost special "limited time" offer so it seems to be fine. Ecost then cancelled the order and claimed that it was "CANCELLED BY CUSTOMER"! LIARS! They claimed that everyone who had ordered the camera cancelled their orders. In reality it was their own price mistake, but Ecost cannot even admit that.
But hey when there is a rebate forget about it. They will CHEAT YOU! They require that you do some werid things for rebates. They will change rebate rules after you had purchased the item. Send you the WRONG item and claim that was what you purchased etc. I would recommend NEVER BUYING FROM THEM.
The site is extremely deceptive. If goods are bad, you have to pay shipping to have them replaced. Even if the goods are not the ones you ordered, you have to pay to have shipping.
Rebates too are not clearly documented at the time of buying. Rebate policies change overnight leaving unsuspecting buyers high and dry.
bad company, bad product, bad service.
- Changes the rebate rules during the promotion period without notification
- Sent a nonoptical mouse and insist it is an optical mouse with a ball, and charge me for returning
- Rude, uneducated customer service representative
Excellent service. The order said handling and shipping will be charged but when I got the package no shipping or handling charge was charged. Ordered mini DV tapes and very impressed with them. My first order with ecost. Happy customer.
The trouble with my last order is I DID NOT PLACE THIS ORDER. Seems ECost decided to sign me up for their Platium Membership without my approval. Contacting them by email has gone unanswered. Only recourse is to deny and dispute the charges with my CC company. Too bad, because previous orders with the company that I actually placed were delivered without problems. I can't understand why ECost would jeopardize customer satisfaction with such senseless actions.

I recently purchased the Canon DM-50 Directional Microphone from eCost.
The cost of this microphone in Canada is approximately $400... The TOTAL cost with shipping, handling, and duty from eCost was $220.
This is one of those "too good to be true", "grey market" deals isn't it? All I can say is that the microphone (plus some impulse-buy cassettes that I threw in) arrived at my doorstep in a reasonable time (comparable to having it ordered through a local electronics store since this isn't something that is usually kept in stock).
I didn't pay any extra for ultra-fast delivery although I received an email from eCost with a tracking number about 2 hours after I placed the order (not too shabby). The tracking of the package was somewhat useless since it didn't actually track the parcel but this isn't their system - so I had better write a review of CanadaPost.
I cannot emphasis just how nice it is that the company calculates out the duty for you - I've never actually seen that before and was VERY impressed with it (I never paid a penny more than what they said it would cost). The shipping fees were in line with everyone else and the package arrived in a sealed Canon box. Nothing fancy wrt the packaging material but the microphone was in good shape so it did the trick.
The one thing that did strike me as kind of cool is that they included in the package a set of instructions on EXACTLY how to proceed if the item is DOA - all of the RMA instructions are in black and white and are easy to follow (although my mic was just fine).
Absolutely no complaints here - will definitely buy from them again!
I ordered a Sony Clie PEG-NX73V from them. They had a very good price, at least $50 cheaper than than Amazon. Shipping by ground was free, but I paid $10 for Fedex Next Day delivery. The product came next day as promised. It was in perfect condition, still sealed in Sony tape. Everything works and I am very happy with this transaction.
Didn't inform me that the item I ordered was backordered nor was I informed that it had shipped, it just showed up in my office. Luckily this is a christmas gift so I wasn't worried.
Ecost.com is a very good company. I ordered my parts and had them in two days! I had ordered a big Sony Trinitron monitor previously from them and they didn't charge shipping, but they did charge a service charge. Their service charge is minimal compared to shipping. They don't ship heavy items for free anymore, but they still are a good company!
Rapid delivery and product as described. I've ordered twice with perfect satisfaction. Delivery to Canada is a bit slow, but that is because of the border crossing. eCost makes it easy by including the taxes and duties in the final price. If they had a wider variety of products I would use them all the time for shipments to Canada.

Initially I was a bit put-off by their processing fee. But after ordering a new pair of Sennheiser headphones on a Wed, and having them ship later that day, I was impressed. I received the headphones on Friday via UPS Ground. Product was well packaged with invoice attached. I'll definitely do business again.
I just recevied my H/P DVD+R drive from Ecost. This is about my 10th order from them. To date I have never had a problem with them. If their inventory says they have something, they do. Shipping is usually very fast and accurate. If I were going to complain about anything it would their "handling fee" in liu of a real shipping charge. Other then that, I will use them again.
Ran into a problem at first with some shipping address verification. Was frustrated in the begining, but they worked really hard to get the item out to me. Item was packed very professionally, and worked perfectly. Even though I lost a day of shipping (shipping address wasn't on file), I will still give this company 5-stars for their efforts. Thanks!
Here is my experience with eCost.
I ordered 3 times from eCost during the last 2 months. (The 1st time was my first order from them ever.)
All 3 orders arrived on time (I'm in Canada) - that is within 7 business days.
All 3 orders arrived in good condition.
The last one was a Denon D107 refurbished minisystem, which was initially not available to ship to Canada. After contacting a sales rep and a senior sales rep, in a couple of weeks, they cantacted me saying it's finally available to ship to Canada. But it was on back-order by then :).
So they told me they expect it in 2-4 weeks. And in about 2 weeks I accidentally found out D-107 was in stock! I was very happy and ordered it right away. It arrived in 9 calendar days in excellent condition. Works like a charm, not a scratch on the system! (Although the shipping package looks rather 'handled' :))
Overall, I'm very happy with eCost, and definitely will order again.
