I was a little wary after reading all the reviews, but have to say my transaction was nothing but smooth. Ordered the new 12 MP Canaon camera with 2 day delivery. Was delivered today, Brand new...Zero Problems. Customer service was courteuos and helpful (I even called several times to find out when the item would be in stock. No problems at all. This is the second and final order I will be making with ecost.com. Both times, they claimed that an item was "in-stock" when the order was placed. However, when I went to check on the order status later, it was "backordered". Both orders had to be cancelled. Fool me once...
In short, if you want to place an order that will eventually have to be cancelled, ecost.com is the place to go!

I attempted to purchase a sound card. Free shipping was advertised so I thought it was a deal. However, they snuck in a $3.95 handling charge right before the purchase page. I decided to buy anyhow. Their web ordering page said it was in stock. However The next day my order status changed to backordered. I decided to cancel the order as this company seems slimy to me.

despite the reviews on here, i was afraid. since i was only ordering a stand and i needed to get the best deal i ordered from these guys. i ordered on 11/16 and recieved on 11/19. that's only 4 business days.
everything was good specially the free shipping (except TVs) but i felt fooled when they charged a handling fee.
somehow i felt thier free shipping was not really free they just called it something else.
who charges handling fees nowadays anyway? total prices are usually upfront w/c is a sum of the item price + shipping. can u imagine if u ordered a tv from them? that's tv price + handling price + shipping price. boy, no savings there!

Ordered (Item number 2150288: Sony Headphones) more than a week back. The status showed 'Back Ordered' for days and then changed to 'Discontinued'. I have been eagerly waiting for this product. Now, I am thoroughly disappointed. It was the first, last time I ever thought about buying from ecost.com

I HAD ordered things with no problem...until now. I preordered Halo 2 back in July/August for $37.94 and noticed yesterday that ecost cancelled all of the preorders due to a system glitch (check preorder thread to see additional comments). No problem, I called CS and they reordered the game at the same price so I was told. Luckily, I have made a practice of using temp transaction numbers from my CC company which I capped at $38.00. Well I went to the website to check the status and whatyaknow I see the new order number is asking me to call with the purchase price of $58.94. So I call and they said that the CC transaction was denied so I told them the story about the cap and that the rep yesterday stating the cost would be matched from the preorder cost. I am then told that I would have to pay full cost and then submit a rebate for the difference...YEAH RIGHT!!! I needed a desktop computer case and ecost had the best price PLUS free FedEx shipping. The ordering process was simple, I got a confirmation e-mail right away, and my case was delivered exactly when they said it would be. No complaints except for the ridiculous "handling" charges. I liked the case a lot and was going to order 2 of them. The handling on 1 was 4.95, but on 2 it was over 30.00!!
Other than that, it was a positive experience.

In some ways this is a scary company to deal with. In other ways, they're great. No way to tell what will happen to you. I've placed 3 orders with them and am generally satisfied. Great point in their favor is that Canadians can buy from them via Borderfree so that all duties, etc. are taken care of and the price you see is the price you pay. Their on-line prices are among the very best - their "handling fee" subtracts a fair bit though. Customer service is borderline pathetic. They will add unrealistic shipping and handling fees for each additional item so it is rare that I would order more than one item at a time. They did not provide an invoice on 2 of my 3 orders. Random drug testing might be a good idea for employees in their packaging department. Nevertheless, I received what I ordered for the price I agreed to and the bottom line was a substancial savings over what I could buy from Canadian sources.

Ecost.com had the cheapest overall price on the Logitech MX1000. There was a problem with my CC and they quickly notified me and corrected the problem, shipping the mouse immediately. I opted for 2-day shipping but I recieved the mouse in 1 day. I'm pretty pleased overall with this purchase.

Ordered a powered speaker and needed it fast. eCost indicated they had one in stock and even with their handling fee the total cost was significantly less than other places I checked. Ordered a DirecTV/Tivo HR10-250 unit, they said they were in stock and would ship today (10/6/2004). Paid an extra $32.00+ for overnight delivery, not to mention their frelling
handling charge ($9.95). Expected a shipping confirmation, never arrived. Checked site, can you believe it, its backordered. Called them to verify they're liars. Yes sir, its backordered, might have some in by the 20th. Cancelled ordered. They'll never have me as a customer again. How pathetic you have to be to accept orders you can't fill, an inventory system that quite apparently doesn't work. Do they really think somebody is going to spent $32.00+ for overnight delivery for something they don't even have to sell. What a craptastic service they provide.

This was my fourth and final order with Ecost. Out of 4 orders, I have never received one of the rebates I've submitted with them. I'm tired of companies like Ecost that promise one thing and then never come through!! I can understand if one rebate didn't come through...but all four dating back one year???!!! Hasta La Vista Ecost!!! and I'll be sure to post on the Hot Deal forums that I frequent to beware of ECost's rebate programs!!!

Tried to place an order online for 8 ethernet to usb adapters and their website was trying to charge me $213.00 for shipping! Even though each unit weighs less than 1 pound. So I phoned the order in. They told me they did not have 8 in stock, only 4. Which is fine, I told them I would like to buy all 4. I complete the purchase, wait a few days, I never received the items. I log in online to look at the status and it says items are backordered. I contact the sales rep and he tells me yes, they have 4 in stock but the warehouse cannot ship items to ARIZONA!?! There is a restriction on shipping items to my area.

They claim not to charge shipping but there is a "handling fee" on each order. That's just another way of charging shipping without saying it. Item came in one day, but it did not work. Sales rep was incompetent and never returned my call so I had to chase him to get an RA #. They did not have any more of the item I ordered so I had to be credited and they will NOT credit you for the "handling fee". Their prices are competitive, but it's not worth the hassle.
