I just recevied my H/P DVD+R drive from Ecost. This is about my 10th order from them. To date I have never had a problem with them. If their inventory says they have something, they do. Shipping is usually very fast and accurate. If I were going to complain about anything it would their "handling fee" in liu of a real shipping charge. Other then that, I will use them again.
Ran into a problem at first with some shipping address verification. Was frustrated in the begining, but they worked really hard to get the item out to me. Item was packed very professionally, and worked perfectly. Even though I lost a day of shipping (shipping address wasn't on file), I will still give this company 5-stars for their efforts. Thanks!
Here is my experience with eCost.
I ordered 3 times from eCost during the last 2 months. (The 1st time was my first order from them ever.)
All 3 orders arrived on time (I'm in Canada) - that is within 7 business days.
All 3 orders arrived in good condition.
The last one was a Denon D107 refurbished minisystem, which was initially not available to ship to Canada. After contacting a sales rep and a senior sales rep, in a couple of weeks, they cantacted me saying it's finally available to ship to Canada. But it was on back-order by then :).
So they told me they expect it in 2-4 weeks. And in about 2 weeks I accidentally found out D-107 was in stock! I was very happy and ordered it right away. It arrived in 9 calendar days in excellent condition. Works like a charm, not a scratch on the system! (Although the shipping package looks rather 'handled' :))
Overall, I'm very happy with eCost, and definitely will order again.
I was successful at an auction they held on Onsale.com (USD 120 + 11.50 S&H for a Toshiba e330).
Now the system though said is is on backorder and so did the credit card processing department. They customer service people insist that it will ship in a few days, but in this case, the card people (who will charge you when the product leaves) should know better.
When questioned, they got nasty and one even hung up the phone on me.
I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt despite the earlier bad reviews but I only got this to say: after spending over an hour trying to sort things out over long-distance phone, and in the end having to write these review, write to the seller and my credit card company (I cancelled the order in the end), I'd rather just pay a few bucks extra.
IGNORE THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS AT YOUR OWN PERIL!!

I ordered many things from eCost.com and never have a problem with either the deliveries or the products. My latest is the Canon 1Ds body kits for $7200.00. It arrives without problem. They got free shipping but watch out for the handling fee - it can add up.
Very Satisfied
Purchased my first camcorder. I was leary about buying over the internet from a company I had never used before. It was a great experience. Ecost had a very good price on my new Sony Camcorder. I checked many resellers though resellerratings.com and finally I chose ecost.
I ordered on a late Sunday Afternoon, and Federal Express was knocking at my door early Tuesday Morning.
I would definitely buy from ecost again.
Received order faster than going to the local store! Decided to order a 1Gb CF card at 10PM & the local Best Buy was closed. Paid $9.99 extra for "next day delivery", thinking the part would ship the next day and be delivered the following day. They shipped it from a West Coast location and It arrived the next morning, before Best Buy opened at 10.
I am really happy with their service.
I ordered a Visiontek 9800pro on Thursday and I recieved it on the following morning..
The sales rep was respectful and helpful..
Their prices are pretty good too.
"I hit their website (via Nextag) looking for a Kenwood VR-7080 THX receiver and found one in their bargain countdown area. Price was the best on the web with free shipping. Hmmm, this sounds too good to be true. I read some buyer reviews about eCost.com and was apprehensive about buying. Additionally, their add on Nextag showed "out of stock" but their web page showed 8 in stock. However, on September 8 I took the plunge and ordered on line. Within hours, I received an email confirm and eCost's site showed my order in process. I called their toll free number the next day and was talking to an account rep within 3 minutes. She was courteous and professional. She told me my receiver would be shipped from Memphis this day or the next. It was shipped on September 9th and arrived in Austin on the 11th. My VR-7080 was double boxed although I think their packing protection could be more robust. The Kenwood box did have a crushed corner and one of the internal styrofoam protectors was damaged, but the unit was in perfect condition. Hooked it up on the 12th, plugged it in, powered it on and it worked flawlessly! eCost.com had what I wanted at the best price with free ground UPS as advertised and a $5.95 handling charge (this S&H charge is apparent as the "Additional Processing Fee May Apply")link on their order page. No hidden charges, no double talk and great prices! I will shop here again. "
They have the worst customer service ever. After i ordered my item on their website and it was out of stock when i check my order status. Then i sent them 2 emails and hope them can give me some information about when will be the item back to stock. And i waited for 3 days, i dind't receive any word from them at all. And my item is still on hold. Finally i decided to cancel the order.. I wonder i long is gonna take it to cancel it and they charged me the money too. They r really messed up. i will never buy anything from them again
I bought only $27 of dv tapes. I will buy from them again. With in one day the item was shipped, and got a tracking number.Free shipping, small handling fee 90 cents. Ordered on a wednesday got it the following tuesday.
- I received unsolicited e-mail from them shortly after I ordered.
- "Free shipping" is misleading, at the last minute the order processing reveals you have to pay a handling charge. That handling charge also puts the customer at an unfair advantage, as you will never get a refund for it in case there is a problem with the order
When I ordered the item I purchased was listed "in stock" and ships "same day". Three day after I ordered I emailed customer service and got no response. On day four I called, waited on hold for 15 min. and a CSR told me that the item was out of stock and no more would be available. I asked why they held an order they knew they couldn't fill. They gave no explanation. Who knows how long I would have waited if I hadn't called.
