I love Netflix! I have not had a single problem with them, and I have been a member for well over a year now. I am on the one-at-a-time plan, and usually end up watching one movie a week. It usually takes 2 days for me to get a movie after I send it in, but that is fine for me. I have too many other things to do besides just watch movies. I have never been "throttled" and always get the movie that is next in my queue, new release or not. I just wish that they would have a better streaming service (like in HD), but I suspect sooner or later they will. Keep up the great job, Netflix!

I haven't stepped foot inside a video store in over five years thanks to Netflix. I'm sure they must miss me because of the late fees they no longer get from me.
I have the 3 at-a-time and pay a little extra for blu-ray. I did have the 4 at-a-time plan but downgraded that once they raised blu-rates (again).
No complaints with shipping, the nearest Netflix facility is in the town right next to me so I'll receive most discs the next day. I haven't experienced any of the infamous 'throttling', but I'm sure that's because I don't return things in a timely fashion.
All in all, I love Netflix and barely go to the movies anymore because of them.

I'm currently on the 3 at-a-time (Unlimited) Plan for $16.99 a month. I used to rent from local video rental stores, but found their prices to be very expensive when compered to Netflix. Just renting 3 DVDs from the local video rental store already costs more than the 3 at-a-time (Unlimited) Plan from Netflix. Their selection is great with a lot of hard-to-find titles. They also have a Blu-ray selection at an additional $1 a month. They don't have game rentals -- that would be the cherry on top of the cake. I wouldn't even mind paying an extra monthly rental charge if they had a game selection.

My wife signed up with Netflix in 2004, and I've been using them like crazy since I got laid up with a broken leg.
Pro:
They're cheap. For the cost of two or three movies locally, you can rent loads of movies a month, and stream movies to your computer.
I have had outstanding service from Netflix. Order movies on line, get them in the mail, watch, stick them back in the mail, lather, rinse, repeat. It couldn't get simpler.
Sometimes it takes a while to get a new movie. I've had a couple movies on order for three weeks, and they still aren't here. However, when they DO become available, they'll get sent to my house, which beats the heck out of stalking the local video joint hoping a movie got turned in before somebody else snatched it.
They have a few movies available for streaming to your computer. There's rarely any lag, and the quality is acceptable.
Con:
The movies available for streaming are extremely limited. It's nice for the odd movie or two, but they could do better. There's really no reason that 20 year old TV shows can't be streamed.
The quality of streamed movies is acceptable, but just barely so. It's very fuzzy. I wouldn't mind letting a movie buffer up for an hour or so, if that meant I could have higher quality.
Sometimes they'll list movies they don't have, mainly older titles that somehow turned into cult classics. Other times, they'll send the last DVD in a series first, instead of sending them in order.
Conclusion
Other than these minor quibbles, the price, service, and order system is top notch. Gone are the days where I hurt my back crawling on the filthy floor of an overprice rental store looking for a needle in a haystack.
Thank You Netflix!

I've never had any real problems with them. Sometimes the disc gets stuck, but I just clean the cd and keep going. It's cheap and convenient

I have only been with Netflix for about 6 months, but so far they have far exceeded Blockbusters capability to provide me with entertainment. I pay $10 a month and watch 2 movies a week. It's all I need cause let's face it, you've gotta get out of the house sooner or later, right?
2 thumbs up for Netflix!

I have been a Netflix customer for years. In general, they are superb! Shipments are fast, with noticeable delays only on weekends and holidays. The selection is outstanding. Moreover, I give them great credit for inventing the "disruptive technology" that freed me from Blockbuster, a company I despise because of the outrageous late fees they charged me for so many years.
Some reviewers complain that Netflix "throttles" their orders, intentionally delaying in sending back DVDs. For years, I have reliably watched 8-12 DVDs per month, and my use has not been throttled for either old movies or recent releases. I understand the annoyance of heavy users whose access may be throttled, but realistically, getting movies for less than $2 each is still a great deal. The great majority of customers will not face this issue.
Occasionally, I receive a damaged disk. In those cases, they ship the replacement to me the day I inform them. Once, I accidentally mailed one of my CD's back to them instead of the rented DVD. A few days later, I received the missing CD in the mail, along with a nice hand-written note. Excellent! This review was modified by its author, jw-roslindale, on

Frankly, handling an average of 1.4 million DVD's a day on behalf of 5 million customers [give or take], I don't see how Netflix could possibly have either the time or the means to insidiously pick and choose who does and who doesn't get preferential treatment on any given day, as has been suggested here by some . Chaos Theory - with plenty of help [let's be fair] from the US Postal Service - can surely feel much the same to a frustrated end-user as targeted malice? Sure, I've had the occasional unplayable disk, and the built-in 'throttle' of their 5-day-week can be a tad frustrating when the weekend rolls around and you have nothing to watch, but overall I've always found their service to be remarkably good and consistent over the 2 1/2 years that I've been a member.
Provided, that is, you just stay in your lane on that auto-piloted conveyor-belt of theirs! Try stepping outside the prescribed point-and-click routine by, say, ATTEMPTING TO CONTACT A 'REAL PERSON', and then you're suddenly lost in space - very much the stranger in a strange land, etc...... They only offer online Customer Service on their website [and even that requires you to jump through a couple of hoops], and it can be 2 or 3 days before you get a reply. I say 'reply', but it's often just a form letter, which - despite being perfectly friendly and polite - as often as not has nothing whatsoever to do with what you asked them. In fact the last time I tried to make contact, they not only completely ignored my question but also managed to erase everything except my sign-off "Thanks", so all I got back was a cheery : "You're welcome!". It felt more like "why are you wasting my time, Fool?" than "how can I help you, Valued Customer?". But finally, after 4 of these ghostships-that-pass-in-the-night exchanges they offered me a phone number [see below], and the issue was resolved 'face to face' in 30 seconds.
So, in conclusion, I'd say that despite the inevitable snafus of a high-volume business, they're still - rightfully and by majority-opinion - the only real game in town. HOWEVER, if you do ever find yourselves needing to resolve something that isn't addressed on their web site [and a lot actually is], I recommend that you save yourselves some time and aggravation by picking up the phone rather than trying to e-mail them. I'm sure they're not evil or vindictive, just overwhelmed and understaffed : victims of their own success, perhaps, like so many before them. Maybe they should just shut down enrollment for a while, and regroup? Oh, and one more question : How is it possible that they don't carry Bernardo Bertolucci's masterpiece 'The Conformist', whilst offering unlimited access to 'Deuce Bigolo : European Gigalo'? Got no reply from them on that one either.

Honestly, I understand the grievances of fellow users on some issues regarding Netflix. They claim a one day turnaround but this is a bit ambitious. I have the basic one at a time unlimited program and it usually takes about 3 to 4 days to receive a replacement after I have mailed a DVD. I don't get worked up about it since I only pay 10.00 a month. The positives definitely outweigh the negatives. No late fees, even with the delay you still get about 4 to 5 rentals a month at the low rate of 10.00. These products are mailed to you,are the most recent releases, and the website is extremely helpful and easy to use. However, if I had one of the deluxe programs I probably would be more concerned because I am not sure if it is worth the added expense. This review was modified by its author, Snugglebug, on

Netflix is still the best. I have never had a problem with delivery times. I live in a backwoods town hours from the nearest city and I receive my movies the next day. I've been using Netflix for three months and only once have I received a movie late.
Blockbuster is an evil company owned by fundamentalist religious people that edit the content of movies they don't agree with, or refuse to carry them. Same with Wal-Mart. This review was modified by its author, eliza, on

Netflix is still the best on the block. They are also the cheapest at the moment (after reducing their prices).
I have tried walmart blockbuster and gameznflix. Netflix wins hands down. Great turn around time and they have more TV series in stock than the other services.

I have had a 3-DVD account for several months.
Delivery time is very good (usually next day), but not always next day (probably shipped from a different distrubution center).
I select about 10-20 movies a month from them.
I have not experienced the "longer wait" for movies others have complained about, after their free trial is over.
Their selection is very good. They are the best on-line service.
The only thing I don't like is when a DVD arrives cracked or unplayable. They will not send a replacement until they receive the damaged DVD.
BlockBuster.com will send a replacement immediately.
My roomate tried out BlockBuster.com. They are cheaper. I have not been impressed at all. They frequently screw things up!!! Have had the service for about 2 months. Low quality control!
1. They sent the wrong season for Smallville, 3 DVD's!!! All the sleeves said Season1, but were from Season2.
2. Delivery time is hardly ever next day, usually takes 2 days.
3. Have had about 3 times when their DVD's were unplayable. They were scratched, not cracked from delivery. I think that they don't take bad DVD's out of circulation???!!
Once, I had to order the same DVD title 4 times!!
I even think they shipped the same bad DVD I had reported earlier, back to me! It had a really strange damage pattern, and i saw the same pattern on 1 of the replacement DVDs.
I tried out Wal-Mart. They were horrible. Turn around time for a movie is about 7-10 days! Hard to believe they could be that bad!

I have been a customer for close to a year now and have been happy. There was only one time when shipments got mixed up, but they remedied the situation quickly. Anytime we have had a problem with a dvd, we mark the sleeve, send it back, and within 2-3 days it has been replaced. I would definatley recommend Netflix to anyone!

NetFlix invented the business of online DVD rentals, and does it better than anyone else. I've been a member for nearly two years, and have been very happy with the movie choices available, the speed of shipping, the low cost compared to local rentals and, when problems have come up, how quick and easy it has been to resolve them.
I love being able to choose almost any movie, without having to drive to a store with a more limited selection. The web site recommendations, based on my ratings, have sometimes pointed me to movies I didn't know but really liked. I do wish that bonus discs were included with the movie, but realistically I don't watch many of them anyway.
My movies seem to ship from two different locations. 80% come from the closer center, and arrive in one day. The rest arrive in 2 or 3 days. All of my returns go to a nearby center, and almost always are acknowledged the next day.
During my membership I've had one movie I never got, another that NetFlix didn't receive, and one that arrived damaged, In each case the NetFlix web site let me report the problem and it was resolved very promptly with absolutely no hassle.
I think it is true that your rental history affects how long you wait for popular movies, but I'm not as sure it affects the turnaround time from when they receive a movie from you until the next is shipped out. I think some of the people complaining about this policy don't realize that it is necessary, since otherwise the cost of postage alone could exceed the monthly memberhip fee. Maybe NetFlix should offer a frequent renter option where you would pay the return postage in exchange for more discs out or a discounted monthly fee.
Obviously your cost depends on how many movies you view in a month. In my 3 out at a time membership, I typically see 12 to 14 movies per month, for an average cost of $1.50 to $1.75 per rental. This is about half of the going rate in my area, not to mention greater convenience and the gasoline savings.
