Had I read about this company before I ordered my monitors, I'd never have done it.
That being said, however, I'm glad I did it anyway. I ordered two monitors, for what ended up being some of the best prices *and* free shipping. The first was shipped within a week, and we got it just as expected. It was in perfect shape. I also wasn't billed until the shipping order went through.
The second - I knew it was out of stock when I ordered it, and I was willing to let it sit on backorder. Five weeks later, it shipped, and I received it as expected. I was also not billed for this monitor until it shipped.
If I had to come up with a complaint, it was that their order checking tool didn't give any idea of when the backordered item might come in. I'd like to have had a little bit more of a status update.

Since all EMS Computing has is bad reviews on ResellerRateings I thought I might relate my positive experience with this reseller.
I ordered a Viewsonic P95f+b monitor from EMS Computing on February 6, 2003. I received my order on February 13, 2003. The packaging was well done and FedEx ground shipping was free. The monitor looks great and I have no complaints. There was only one issue that arose. I had to call them on the 11th to ask why the monitor had not shipped. They explained that their warehouse was behind and that the monitor would ship in two days. He asked me to call back if I did not receive a tracking number by then. On the 13th I checked my email and found the tracking number had been sent and that the package was going to arrive that day. Thank goodness I checked my email early in the morning or I would have missed the package, and would have had to wait and extra day. That was my only problem with EMS Computing. They need to work on getting the tracking information to you sooner, other then that a very professional company.
Gargon’s tips for buying items online
Check local stores to see if they have the item so, you can look at.
(Better to see the item will not work for you before you have to ship it back)
Only deal with places that have an 800 number.
(If problem should arise it is cheaper to call them back)
If trying to save by not paying sale tax, always buy outside of the state you live in.
(Taxes can only be charged if the billing address is the same as state ordered from)
Call first to make sure item is in stock
(Never trust website inventory checkers because there are not always up to the minute)
After ordering, try to get tracking number as soon as possible to monitor package movements.
(So you don’t have to wait an extra day for your stuff)

hmmmm so many complains about this company....well, that is because this company has grown and moved the location and it creates problems...just give little more time why?? well, I shop with this company more than 2 years and spend almost $10,000.00 and never had a problem always fast and always good except one time in August when they are moving...I still think this company is good and give little more time for them to fix the problem....its like when you move to new place...it takes time to reorganize and so on... NO I am not a EMS employee nor family but satisfied customer for years.....thanks

Wow, I'm really suprised to see a low rating for this company. Maybe its just me, but I've bought from emscomputing twice now and had nothing but good experience with them. I orderred a battery for my digital camera in May and most recently a set of Altec Lansing 641 computer surround speakers. I placed the order on Sunday, it shipped Tuesday and arrived Wednesday morning (this was with regular 3-5 day shipping!) Shipping was also free, I'm not sure if this is a special promotion during the holiday season or not. I'm normally apprehensive of buying merchandise online, but I would definitely buy from emscomputing.com
Not to deny other peoples' claims, but I have had no such problems.

Purchased a Canon Printer. My order was submitted on a Saturday. Order was processed and shipped in a very reasonable amount of time.

This is my second order from EMS the first was in July 2002. This order was handled better and faster than the first. I ordered two items the first round, a Cardbus for the Laptop and a Set of Altec Lansing 641 speakers. I did not check the reseller ratings then, but a the delays mounted I did, but EMS assured me all was well, and offered to refund if the delay was unacceptable. I got them both well packaged and no suprises. the prices were significantly cheaper on the speakers. Fast forward to October, my wife wanted a set of speakers for her TV Kareoke setup, just like mine I rechecked prices and even though EMS had the best prices, I considered their speed. I thought the price justified a little time and on the 13th I ordered from them. The order was promptly acknowleged, but it did not ship till the 17th, (UPS Ground) and Delivered on the 21st in good condition. I think their order process is sluggish, but the 13th to the 21st to get a 60 pound set of speakers is not too bad. I would order from them again.

Ordered an Antec 1080AMG with no problems. Received E-mail confirmation of order and when it got shipped. Case arrived with no problems.

On Sunday, 09/08/02 I ordered an Antec sx-1200 Full tower case from EMS through their other website (techsavings.com). I did not know tech savings was the same as EMS. I only realizewd that when my order arrived and the packing slip had EMS's logo on it.
I was going to buy the case from EMS at first, but the bad rating here turned me off so I started looking for another company and found tech savings. Their prices were cheaper than EMS, so I bought from them.
On monday morning I received an order confirmation in my email inbox. That was it. I figured I'd give them a day or two to ship the order and send me a tracking number. Fast forward to wednesday and I'm getting a bit worried, so I send them an email in the morning. In the afternoon the case is in my door. Never got a response from them though.
I'd give Techsavings.com (EMS) a 10 on every aspect except for communication, since there was almost none. Price was great, order arrived really fast and in one piece, but no tracking number.
Happy customer here.
Update: Just received their shipping confirmation...8 hours after I received the package and about 2 days after they shipped it. I guess better late than never. :-) This review was modified by its author, psyko[H], on

First purchase from EMS and I was extremely wary. However, It shipped within 3 business days and it arrived 2 days later. It was a Diamond Pro 2060u monitor costing about 760 dollars total but it was 100 bucks cheaper than anywhere else. It arrived in factory sealed unopened package. Worked perfectly right out of the box. I read through the reviews here but there are a few people who have done business with them for a while and I went with that. Otherwise it's a lot of people with one post....this is my first also. I would definitely recommend EMS for monitor purchases at the very least. This review was modified by its author, Copperttop, on

Best price on the net. Extremely fast (two days) and cheap shipping. Very quick e-mail responses. Tracking number supplied in a reasonable amount of time. Would certainly do business with again!

This is my second order. I ordered SMC7008ABR Cable/DSL 8 port router and a 3COM 3C905C-TX-M etherlink pci card. Items arrived quickly and packaged well. Will continue to have my business.

Well, I read the reviews, but I went with my past experiences which have been great. I have made over 10 purchases within the last twelve months from EMS without any trouble. The most recent was 08/20/02. I submitted my order and had the product by 08/23/02 with ground shipping. From what I understand, they were in the process of moving and that is over. I had no problems and will purchase again.

Purchased a set of Logitec Z540 4.1 speakers on Monday. Received shipping notice Wednesday, got the speakers on Friday. They weren't in the original box but were wrapped in plastic and looked new. Worked fine.

I had ordered hardware and software from several online resellers in order to build two new PCs. I had ordered the monitors for these new machines from EMS Computing, and I was very pleased with the experience.
First, of the four resellers that did not have the items I ordered in stock, EMS Computing was the ONLY one that bothered to contact me to let me know. From what I have been reading, poor or no communication is a serious problem that many resellers need to address. Fortunately, EMS Computing seems to be on the ball.
Second, when I ordered the two 17" monitors, I specified that they be shipped UPS ground. I was extremely supprised to find that when EMS Computing got the items in stock, they shipped them to me overnite. Personally, I feel this is excellent customer service.
Finally, the pricing was very good. Since I ordered the monitors, I have also orderd a couple of scanners, and I am hoping that I received the same level of customer service that I did with the last order. In any case, I think that the fact that I am continuing to do business with them speaks for itself.
I was supprised to find that their rating was not higher than it is. However, my recommendation would be to give them the benefit of the doubt. Typically, good service is not accidental. Good luck!
