Wow! I was unlucky enough to find these folks!
Fantastic price on a entry level Nikon sb600 flash, ordered it on Sunday 3/1/2009.
Monday no confirmation email until 2pm Monday 3/2/2009 saying I needed to confirm my order and to call (strange i thought).
Called the company to confirm, Bill tried to change my order to some knock off flash unit that was better. I assured him that i wanted to stay with a total Nikon system and he promptly hung up.
Again really begining to wonder, I decided to research these folks and found this and many other site that list complaints(over 2000 entries total)... I immediatly checked my online account, no posted charge, WOOT! and a quick call to the credit card company to cancel my card. Bank informed me that even though I canceled the card it still might show up as a debit to my account and to call back to have it expunged and filed if it does show up.
So in closing, sites like these do work to get the word out about such unscrupulous businesses and always do the due diligence and research before you loose your shirt!
UPDATE: 03/16/09 Finally got an email from these folks stating that the item i wanted was out of stock and that it would be 6 to 8 weeks before the item was back in stock and they were canceling the order...noting that they had not charged my credit card...hahaha DFs! Since i canceled the credit card I wonder how long it took them to figure out they could not charge my card if they wanted too. Loooooosers! This review was modified by its author, HolyCow1990, on

RUN! Typically I check the ratings of stores but for some reason did not on Sonic --- all they want to do is upsell. Twice I spoke to them and TWICE they told me the item was in stock. When they couldn't upsell me -- they cancelled my order.
I just needed to replace my Nikon D50 body and upgraded to the D80 so ALL accessories would work...when they couldn't sell me more than the body, my order go CANCELLED.

Ordered Canon 100mm lens at 5:48 p.m. on Wed 02/25
Contacted Sonic to see why no price $399) on confirmation, "Bill" talked me into ordering a different lens, a Sigma 50 mm lens. Even though I told him I really did not want a Sigma lens, that I had bad support from Sigma with my previous Sigma lenses. He insisted this was a better lens.. that if I did not like the lens, and returned it within 7 days there would be no restocking charges, etc.
No confirmation as of 10:10 a.m. on Thurs, 02/26 of order change from Canon 100 mm lens to Sigma 50 mm lens.
Sent e-mail at 6:29 am Thurs, 02/26 cancelling order to change lens - I really want my original one..
Called Bill at 10:10 a.m. Thurs, 02/26, and advised since I contacted my Credit Card company, and they said I had not been charged for the lens, I wanted to cancel this order. Bill advised me I could not cancel, that it had already been shipped, that the charges would not show up for 48 hours, and I would have to return it after it arrived. I advised I wanted my originally ordered lens (Canon 100mm)... he said I have to tell him what kind of mount I want on this.... plastic or whatever..(that is ridiculous.... I didn't have to do that when I placed the original order), - I told him I did not understand, he then hung up on me without allowing me to change the order.
Bill was rude on the first call, and the second call. He provided me with incorrect information about the Canon lens, was tasteless enough to seriously bad mouth Canon Support, etc., and should have just accepted my order as I originally placed it.
Contacted Customer Service at 11:00 am, was on hold for 20 minutes, then explained all of the above to CS (no name).... he checked the original order and said it had been canceled, he said nothing about a second order, so assume this is the same order for either lens. Then I started to explain to him if he had just processed my original order I wouldn't even be calling. I told him I had one other thing I wanted to mention, ... and he hung up on me. Apparently this is how they handle dissatisfied customers.
This is surreal.... no wonder their rating is 1/2 out 10....

Don’t ever do business with this sonic camera!!!
I ordered a Nikon D90 “package” for around $1000.
The next day I got a phone call:The Guy asked me if I need a battery and charger with my Camera, I told him I want what ever comes in the Nikon camera box, but he kept on and on about the battery not being sufficient and since I was driving I just told him to add it. Then he said he would upgrade my Nikon lenses to better ones for a total of $1700.
When I received the package realized he downgraded me to Sigma lenses. And that they charged me $400 for the original battery that comes with camera from Nikon.
A day after receiving the package I decided to send it back and get the canon 5D MK-2 instead by using the $1700 towards the Canon.
The Guy I spoke to told me that since the canon is not available yet I should hold to the Nikon until they get the new camera for the exchange. but that I should keep mine in the box.
Since that sounded so unbelievable to me, I called him back and had him confirm it again only this time I recorded him (using an Iphone App).
Two weeks later I called to find out if the canon arrived and when I mentioned that I’m still keeping the D90 the Guy said he never said that, I asked to talk to the manager that was very nasty and ended up hanging up the phone on me (they do it all the time).
I’m not used to being a victim of scam and although this was two months ago I can’t get over it especially when I have the Nikon “package” I was overcharged for still sitting in the box.
I’m planning on meeting a lawyer and see if I can sue those scam artist based on the recording and
I will not stop until I get my money back or until those people are out of business.
Looks up all the other aliases they use for their operation and make sure nobody buys from them.

The worst rip-off scheme ever!
I ordered a Canon L lens from sonic camera at a really great price. The next day I received a phone call asking me to verify the card number. Then The guy asked me what camera I ordered the lens for.
He then proceeded to try to convince me to buy a sigma instead. I insisted on not changing my order. He then asked me which mount I would like on the lens.He explained that the lens is wholesale, not retail and only retail lens come with mounts. He said The Canon L lens with a mount for the camera is 600 dollars more. I told him to cancel my order. He told me there would be a 25 percent "re-stocking fee", because they already prepared my order for shipment. I told him "I'm not paying a re-stocking fee" He hung up. We're sweating it out now, because these scumbags have our bank card info and we can't cancel our bank card now because my husband is about to leave on a business trip. I am kicking myself for not investigating sonic cameras before giving them my bank info. It's difficult to believe the legal system has not caught up with these crooks.

I placed an order on 2/13/2009 for the Nikon D700 camera and memory card, however the website advertised a GREAT price, but never mentioned ANYTHING about if it was in stock or not...So after placing the order the next day I received an e-mail from the "shipping" department saying that I had to call and confirm my shipping address, so I did that, during that phone call the guy never mentioned anything to me about in stock or not. The following day I received another e-mail stating "the product was no longer in stock, so your order was cancelled". I called the company and asked if it was in stock or not. Our credit card was never charged, however we did cancel the card and had to get a new one. But BEWARE of them and their "buddies", they will scam you!!!

This is a Total Internet Scam, I ordered Nikon D300, was emailed to call to confirm purchase
I was then told I did not know what I doing, my order for the D300 was the Body only, no battery or other items included unless I ungraded at great expence, I told the guy that Nikon do not sell the Body only, he became very abusive and slammed down the phone, I am watching daily to ensure my credit card is not charged, if it is it will be charged back and further steps taken

COMPLETE SCAM!! I ordered the canon Rebel xsi for the advertised 299, as well as a wide-angle lens. The total price was 498. I then waited (and was in a hurry to receive this camera since I was buying it for a relative who was traveling to Africa in 3 weeks) They sent me an email notifying me that I had to call them and confirm my order. I called 3 times before someone answered, and when I finally got ahold of them, the following conversation occured.
Him: We don't take American Express so you'll have to give us a different credit card.
Me: then why doesn't it say that on your website?
Him: I don't know, but could you give us a different credit card?
Me: i guess, (then i gave him my visa details)
Him: Oh, it turns out they don't make that brand of lens anymore.
Me: Then why is it advertised on your website?
Him: I don't know. but We can sell you the Canon version which is normally $350, and just charge you for the same lens you ordered ($190).
Me: Fine
Him: And the camera body you ordered won't be there for about 6-8 weeks since it has to be shipped from china.
Me: That is unacceptable. I need that camera in 3 weeks.
Him: I could sell you a package which includes a battery, battery charger and the usb cables for that same camera and we can ship it today.
Me: How much?
Him: your total would come to $790
Me: (after doing some quick math 790-190=500!!) You are charging me 200 dollars for a battery and a charger? That is insane.
Him: (Growing very upset) You aren't letting me help you!!
Me: Helping me by charging me 200 dollars for a battery and charger?
Finally, i told him to just ship it from china, and I'd pay 500 like i originally agreed and said goodbye. I figured I could just loan them my camera for their trip and trade them when they returned home.
The next day I get an email saying
"Unfortunately we are currently oversold on the item you have ordered, and it is currently on a backorder for 6-8 weeks. Therefore, your order has been canceled. Please note, your credit card has not been charged."
So I called them back to ask if the camera or the lens was out of stock, and why they couldn't still ship whichever product was still in stock. The man who answered the phone was incredibly rude, and the conversation went like this...
Me: I received an email saying my order was cancelled, but I ordered more than one product and was wondering if both orders were cancelled?
Him: We don't have your product
Then HE HUNG UP!!
I continued to call throughout the day, and was blatantly hung up on 5 times, placed on hold indefinately 4 times, and 8 times i was unable to even get someone to answer the phone.
I checked my credit card activity online, (luckily finding nothing out of order) and changed all of my card numbers immediately. After finding out more about SONIC CAMERAS online, I am amazed that a company can consistently rip people off and continue to operate without facing some legal intervention. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE!! They don't actually have the products they advertise, they simply try to talk you into things after you place your order.

Avoid this seller. Worse experience I have ever had shopping anywhere.
I checked with the sellers via email and I didn’t get a response. Then 12 days after the order I called the customer service number to find my self talking to a very rude and unprofessional rep that told me that they cancel my order because they ran out. When I told them why did I not receive an email or a call (especially that I send an email inquiring about my order)? The guy started to yell and all he could of come up with that his busy and he doesn’t know what else to tell me. I don’t know who is running this site. But I hope they run out of business soon.

I ordered a Nikon D300 camera package online at soniccameras.com. Shortly after ordering I received an email saying that I needed to call the company to confirm my order. The salesman told me that I had forgotten to put the pin number of my credit card on the order form. He told me that he was going to do me a big "favor" and upgrade all of the lenses in the package for me because I had just missed a big sale they had. He kept telling me things I needed and ran up my previously $2200. bill to $3495. I told him that before the order was placed, I would like a detailed invoice of everything I was buying. He said he would send it. I recieved an email with a ton of stuff on it totalling $8346.99. Even the camera I had ordered had been changed to a lower model, the D90. I called to immediately cancel my order. I was hung up on 3 times before reaching the salesperson I had talked to, he told me that he had not adjusted my order yet, and that he would send me a detailed invoice. It never came. The next day I called to see what was going on and was told that my order had been shipped and I had been charged $3495. I had been told the order would not ship until I received the email. The package arrived at my house, UPS left it on my porch. The package included the correct camera and a bunch of grey market junk. The lenses had been changed to an off brand, I was sent the wrong card for the camera, some things were missing. I was charged $3495 for a $900 camera body and about $200 worth of off brand lenses, filters, etc. Some of the stuff was in packaging that looked like it came out of a gumball machine. Horrible quality. I have called to get an RMA to return the stuff. Everytime I give them my order number, they hang up on me. They are a total scam!

WARNING WARNING WARNING!!! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! Once they have your $$$ you will never see it again. This company does not send you what they sell on the phone and they also do not give you anything in writing of what they are going to send you when they charge your credit card. I told him I was going to write a bad review for his company he said he "would do everything in his power to blacklist my name." Could be a terrorist organization. These people are not reasonable.

Complete fraud, scam, and credit card felony - they are the culmination of the worst imaginable and described in all previous reviews. It is hard to believe yet true that they are somehow still online and robbing innocent people.
I too have to cancel my credit card and quickly try to protect myself against this criminal activity.

OMG!-I sure wish I'd seen this site prior to placing my order. I experienced the same thing--call to confirm; told this is not the Japanese-made lens, but one from China; must buy the mount too. I cancelled the order, but was nervous that my credit card would be charged, so I closed that account and opened a new one. What a pain. These are the kinds of businesses that give ecommerce a bad name. Thanks to all who have posted before.
