I ordered Panasonic AG-DVX100B Camcorder from Sonic Cameras on April 25 and received conformation of my order right away. I decided on Sunday the 26th that I didn't need the camcorder anymore. I call Monday morning at 10:00am and spoke to a friendly customer service representative. I explained that I wanted to cancel my order and without delay he cancelled my order for me. The experience was great. Thank You

Two days ago I placed an order via the Sonic Cameras website to purchase a Nikkor 18-200 VR lens for $479. Immediately, I received an email to contact Sonic Cameras regarding my order.
Upon being transfered to no less that for people and on hold for 30 minutes, I finally spoke to "Gorge" at extension 237 who proceded to tell me that my three digit security code was required for my purchase. This is obviously their method of luring them into their trap as I've read in numerous reviews on this forum.
Like the other "suckers", I was informed that my decision was a bad one, that the Nikkor lens was "old", had a plastic mount, blah blah blah. After 30 minutes of a rather forceful barrage, I was convinced to "upgrade" to a Sigma 18-300 "PE" lens that was offered for the low-low price to me of $549. Of which included a 7 day trial period that was exempt from their restocking fee if I was not satisfied because "customer satisfaction is their goal." Sadly and embarassed to say, I fell for the trap.
When I further researched the internet for indication of this "PE" lens I came up empty. This lens is listed on their website for $999 without the "PE" identifier, which probably covers the crooks legally in some manner. I contacted "George" again, and was infomed that it's a lens offered in Japan only as a professional model and not in the states. Being a trusting, but skeptical consumer, I trusted him but contacted Sigma tech support thereafter. I was told that Sonic Cameras is notorious for bait and switch scams, and that the "PE" lens is NOT a model they manufacture in Japan nor anywhere else. The "PE" designation is a CODE FOR THE RECYCLABILITY that the lens is shipped in. "George" over and over told me that I would see on the box that was all in Japanese that "PE" is called out. True, but unless you speak and read Japanese you're fooled.
I called "George" back upon learning this first hand info from Sigma and he said that Sigma US is not aware of their Japanese operations. Yeah, right. Upon telling him that I would not accept delivery of this lens, which by the way you can buy for <$400 from other retailers, he IMMEDIATELY and rudely told me at "I am thru with you" and I cut him off my hanging up on the lying crook scam artist.
I have contacted my credit card company, and they have insured me that I will not be billed and that I need to refuse delivery of the package when it arrives.
Sadly to say, I was fooled. This company is totally corrupt, the master of bait and switch scams.
I can only hope their corrupt company will be out of business in the near future. In today's tough economic times, I wish nothing but justice on the crooks and liars they employ.

These Idiots!! I ordered a D60 Nikon for my mothers birthday.. the guy called and tried to convince me that a older D40 for 200 bucks more was better. Then He tried to sell me a 29.00 battery for 250 bucks!! What an Idiot. when I called him back, he said they ship from overseas and they are like Chinese knock off Nikon cameras. Lets get their site shut down!

I am sure my experience with these low-life's is the same as everyone else. I wanted a canon 17-85mm lens, after saying no to all of the up-selling he asked if I had film or digital; I said digital and he said "oh, this lens is for a film camera." That is a lie, I know for a fact. So I asked the 2-bit sales "bait & switch" man for the Canon part numbers of the 2 lens, his answer was "your order is cancelled", for which I kindly replied "F you." I am surprised that these types of businesses are allowed to operate. At least he didn't try to pull "the lens you are looking at does not have english on it, it is all in japanese! I have heard all of the bs from these guys.

Put Sonic Camera under the heading: If it's too good to be true, it usually isn't. This is a classic bait & switch operation. All the other reviewers here are dead on (I only wished I read these comments, BEFORE I placed my order -- I would have saved myself a LOT of time and aggravation). Avoid Sonic Camera like the plague.

DO NOT USE SONIC CAMERA!!!!!!All these reviews are correct. They called me this morning and did the bait and switch on me. Then when I said I just wanted the D80 that I ordered, they announced that it was actually a foreign imitation of the D80 and that the real one would be twice the price. What a bunch of crooks! These guys should be reported to the BBB.
!!!!!!!!!DO NOT PURCHASE FROM SONIC CAMERA!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to this website, I immediately called and cancelled the order I placed a short while ago. Their website listed American Express as a carrier and they accepted my card and sent me a confirmation. When I called and cancelled, they informed me they no longer worked with American Express and asked if they could switch my order to another card. This scared the hell out or me! I called American Express and reported their actions and made sure there are no other charges on my card... Thank you thank you thank you for the service this website provides. I made sure I told them that I read their reviews and that was the exact reason I cancelled my order....I was headed right down the same path everyone else who made posts was headed... Beware!!!!

Thanks to this site I was tipped off about SONICCAMERAS.COM. I was nearly through with my $1700.00 order for a Nikon D700 when I got that uneasy feeling. I called them and spoke to some belligerent a-hole for 30-seconds before realizing SONIC is a complete scam. But wait...there's more! Quickly thereafter I found BINGOCAMERAS.COM, and I was already suspicious. The bingocqameras.com site has many of the same sidebar graphics as soniccameras.com and, sure enough, when I called it was the same idiot from Soniccameras. It looks like you guys have fingered these crooks out, and now they're trying to change the look to keep the rip-off alive....Thanks to all who posted, Way to go!!!

I order a canon EF 100mm 2.8 USM IS lens at a low advertised rate. First they then sent me a order conformation.. Then they call to get my credit card security number which was strange. then the guy ask what kind of camera it was. I told him it was a canon d50... He then said i order the conventional lens not digital. I asked him what was the difference was... He said the one i had worked for full frame film and the i should get the digital one that has the 1.6 conversion and is made for digital cameras for a better picture. Well $166 dollars more plus i called canon only to find out that bait and switched on the cost and there is no digital lens. I order another deal a EF canon 70-300 IS USM $350 what a deal "not" from them. Guy got attitude when i he asked about me buying the analog lens instead the digital lens. Then said it would be 3 weeks for delivery... Needless to say i cancel my credit card after i got off the phone... Buyer beware.. and i think the deserve a call to get my refund seeing i did not get the digital lens that they where saying that had a 1.6 conversion.

YOU CAN GET YOUR MONEY BACK, READ ON!!!
Same story as below, bait and switch for a POS sigma lens when I wanted the Nikon 18-200. After they up-sold me and threw in some awesome filters (not) I found the reseller ratings. What a headache these guys have caused us all. By the time I had called back to cancel my order they had "shipped" it, and billed my credit card.
I had to wait for the package to arrive, they did include everything said, except it was of exceptionally low quality and now worth the exorbitant markup they put on their second grade products.
Here is where it gets interesting. When I called back to get an RA number (was trying to just eat the 10% restocking fee and consider myself lucky), Jason, (total ahole), told me that I had to send him a CHECK OR MONEY ORDER in the box or he would not give me an RA number. When I asked him why he could not refund my card the difference he gave me the typical BS. He also tried to charge me for shipping and insurance costs which I did not agree to when I placed the order. After arguing for a while he dropped those and still went for the 10% restock fee.
Anyways, I finally said okay, I will send the money order in the box and he gave me the RA number. I then packaged up the merchandise and sent it back INSURED, TRACKED AND ADULT SIGNATURE REQUIRED to the return address on their label. Do NOT send it any other way, otherwise they will try to claim they never got it. I also DID NOT include a check or money order. This was also returned BEFORE THE 14 DAY RETURN POLICY, so I could keep myself covered.
Low and behold, the package was confirmed and signed, and I got a FULL refund on my credit card which I promptly canceled (dont trust these crooks for a second with that information).
Sorry if this was long winded, but hopefully it will help others get their money back if they fell victim as I did.
NEVER BUY FROM SONIC CAMERAS!!!

DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM SONIC CAMERAS. Two weeks ago, with 8-10 day shipping, I ordered the NIKON MB-D80 multi-power battery grip as well as two NIKON EN-EL3 lithium batteries for my Nikon D90 dslr. Aware that there are several off-brand versions of this product I called Sonic Cameras (Whoever answered my call was a little fucker)to confirm that what I was ordering was indeed manufactured by NIKON (Even though it said so on the website). Almost three weeks later I received the order and excitedly opened the box to find a "ZEIKOS" multi-power battery grip COMPATIBLE with the Nikon D90. The $60 batteries I received were also off-brand, and turned out to have a value of $20. My $250 dollar order turned out to have a true value of $115. This is false advertising, even the images of the products online were images of NIKON products, not "Zeikos". SO NEVER EVER ORDER ANYTHING FROM SONIC CAMERAS... seriously.

Classic Bate and Switch. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SONIC CAMERAS. After placing and order for a Canon HV-30 camcorder and a deluxe package. I was called the next morning by a salesman who praised how great of a camera it was and then asked me if I wanted the $299 or $399 battery charger. He stated it did not come with a charger. That is FALSE. I cancelled the order over the phone and he hung up on me. Then it took me the rest of the afternoon to confirm the cancellation and call my credit card to place a Fraud Alert.

Rip off artists, bait and switchers, just plain liars. I called to order a Canon lens listed at a very good price. They proceeded to tell me that there was a new Canon lens out that was to replace that lens. It was a little more expensive ($200 more) but it was their next generation lens (this brought the cost up to around $1600). They gave me the part number and took the order. After a meeting I went to look up the lens. Canon didn't list it. I googled it and it was a Sigma lens for $300 more than the going price! I called to cancel the order (1 hour and 5 minutes after the order) and they told me that it already shipped. BS. I called the credit card company to hold the payment. They called the next day "we can't ship your lens because there is a problem with the credit card". After fighting for half a day they finally canceled the order. They wouldn't sell me the lens that they list on their web page at the price that they list it because they say "oh, it's no longer in stock right now". "When will you get more?" "Don't know, Canon won't give us a ship date". Bulls#!t. Lie after lie. Avoid at ALL costs. A one star rating it too good for them.

I just got off the phone with sonic and I am furious I talked to one of the rudest salesmen I have ever met. I called to order a Canon XHA1s an I was to told that this " This is a wholesale website you must buy the camera piece by piece that price of 1449 you saw on the website is only the body not the lense or microphone"
So how can I possibly buy the camera without the lense when it is not interchangeable and the lense is attached??????? Rediculous
So when I asked about the "Full" Camera I was told $5000 for a $3000 dollar camera!!!!!
When I asked about all the bad reviews I have seen, I was told this
"Are we on the same page you called to buy a camera and shipping out 400 boxes a day, We must be doing something right" Then he hung up.
I was speechless
This really pissed me off I hope noone ever buys a damn thing off this company!!!!!
Thanks

Do not buy from these guys. Total scam!
Customer service is unprofessional, deceiving, and rude. The order I received was not my Canon lens but a Sigma, how do you switch that up??!? 10% restocking fee, for their mistake + shipping cost you already paid for them to ship it to you + your shipping cost to send it back. All the extra package items are cheap, poor quality. Please do not buy from sonic camera!
