I ordered a phone from them on 7/28. Received the phone within 5 days, but it wasn't working. Sent the phone back on 8/11 via UPS. UPS delivered the phone on 8/14. Called on 8/20 and they couldn't find the phone. Emailed on 8/21 and they said they were looking for it. On 8/25 the phone was located. It was sent to the wrong address. ( Transposed the address ). They couldn't get the phone back, but their customer service did everything they could to help. They tried to get it back...called UPS and even tried the police to get it. Unfortunately it wasn't the outcome I wanted, but I transposed the address. They couldn't give me my money back..but they did make an offer of any item at cost. They were awesome. Kayla was great...and Josh was fantastic. If the opportunity arises I will do business with them again if for nothing more than the wonderful customer service!

Ordered a Motorola SLVR L7 and received it very quickly. I had to contact customer service via e-mail because of a problem with the battery for the telephone. I received an immediate reply from customer care, and they called me the next day and resolved the issue to my satisfaction.
Overall, I would say that I am very satisfied with Thrifty Computer, especially their quick delivery and customer service.
I needed an unlocked quad-band phone for travel purposes after my blackberry crapped out on me. Someone told me about a decent deal on a new, unlocked phone for sale here on TC so I gave it a shot despite never having had heard of them before. My phone arrived quickly and as described so there is nothing negative I can say about the company at this time. They seem like a pretty good merchant with good prices on many things so if you are looking I would say give them a shot.
I had never heard of ThrifyComputer before placing my order. However, the price on their quad-band unlocked GSM phones was too good to pass up. I ordered two on a Sunday, and they arrived promptly 4 days later. The phones were exactly as advertised. I would definitely do business again with them.
I ordered a new Palm 755p Sprint phone. They were slow shipping it but that is the least of the problems.
I received the phone which was supposed to be brand new in box and it is obviously used. They also gave me a used battery which doesn't even fit the phone. Plus, they gave me a holster that is very used as well. The charger doesn't even match the phone to boot.
***UPDATE*** - I got a very nice email from the owner trying to fix the situation after I posted the review. There was a problem with the supplier for ThriftyComputer which is where the problem seemed to originate. The sprint models are not shipped direct from his warehouse. The owner said he ripped the supplier a new one. The owner was really nice and offered to send me a guaranteed brand new phone upgrade to a Treo 850. I have to admit his quick reply was timely and I am glad he wants to fix the situation. I'll update as soon as I receive. I have my fingers crossed!
****SECOND UPDATE****
I received my Treo Pro within 2 days of shipment. Alan M. was very good about informing me of the shipping process. The phone was brand new as promised and it is awesome! This company really went above and beyond when it came to customer service and fixing a bad situation. I will definitely use them again and can't thank them enough for their care and determination to fix the situatioN!

Fast delivery and item works well. Shipping was in a Fedex packet - unfortunately there wasn't much protection and the box was very squashed/damaged on arrival. Didn't impact contents thankfully, but wouldn't have been acceptable to use for a gift.
Perhaps this was an isolated incident, but more solid packaging might be worth considering.
I was a little hesitant to buy an unlocked phone from a company I hadn't dealt with before, especially at such a low price. I can't say there was anything exceptional about the service, but no problems either. The phones are obviously sourced from Europe, but they provide a plug adapter for the charger in the box (as mentioned in the description of the phone as well). I would definitely order from them again.
do not buy anything from here
i've been told only lie nothing but lie
there is only one customer service lady her name is kayla, she told me because system is down she can do nothing now and she will call me but she never call me back
originally i ordered unlocked usb aircard when i received open box and it's not unlocked
i shippted back and today is aug 19, 09 i still didn't get it yet
don't trust them strongly
Excellent service from ThriftyComputer. Item(Motorola SLVR L7) arrived on time and as described on web site. Items is new and works great. Prompt communication, right after placing order got the confirmation email and then got shipment confirmation when the product shipped. Web site is well designed and easy to navigate.
I ordered an unlocked Motorola SLVR L7. I only paid for regular shipping, but they sent it priority anyway. It was shipped soon after my order was complete. It arrived new, with everything as promised. It looks like the unlocking was done by PDA Giant, as they are the ones fulfilling the warranty, not Motorola. I was concerned that it was refurbished because of this, but I can't see anything that hints to it being previously used.
I ordered Pantech c530 & entered the wrong state.I was emailing your company to make the correction when your rep called me to check on the order. He told me it was because of the shipping address was a different state than the billing address. He said the call was to protect my credit card & your merchandise. My wife & I were very impressed with the way your company handled it. We will recommend your company to everyone. This was our first time dealing with your company. It won't be the last.
I ordered a new blackberry pearl from this company. The initial order took 3 weeks to be shipped, their excuse being that the phone I ordered was missing the back and they needed to get a new one from blackberry. When I did receive the phone it was the correct product but it turned out to be defective; the screen's backlight did not work. They were responsive to my complaint, and said they would send me a replacement if I shipped it back to them (at my own expense). I received the replacement very quickly (arrived within 4 days of when I shipped the first phone back). However, it was the wrong product-- it a different color and it was refurbished when the phone I ordered was brand new, and the box was missing the leather pouch that it was supposed to come with. I wrote them back saying I would keep the incorrect phone, but only if they refunded me the difference in cost between the new phone I originally ordered and the used product that they sent me. They agreed and processed the refund to my paypal account within 1 business day, and are supposed to be sending me a leather pouch (it should arrive this week.)
I guess the bottom line is that you get what you pay for. This company operates similarly to an ebay retailer would, and their products, packaging, shipping speed, and order accuracy are not at the same level of quality as you would expect from a big corporate retailer. However, their customer service department makes an effort to help and responds quickly (during business hours), and their prices are EXTREMELY cheap. If you are looking for a good bargain, and have time on your hands to wait for a product to arrive, are willing to pay for your own shipping and returns, and are patient enough to deal with incorrect items possibly being shipped, then buy from this company. If you aren't patient, then you'd better shell out the extra cash and buy from a larger retailer that has more streamlined procedures and quality control.

I ordered a Sierra AirCard 881 Unlocked Wireless PCMCIA Network Card. When it arrived I learned that I received a box that said Sierra Aircard 881 but inside was a Sierra 875 card and a cd that may have gone with the older card. There was also a lack of packaging in the box that it came with and a flier for Unlocked Cell Phone Kings. I sent the whole thing back to the original address with confirmation delivery through the USPS. I emailed Thrifty Computer.com with the issue an received a reply back asking if I wanted the correct product send to me on Aug. 3rd 2009. I replied yes. A week passed and my confirmation for having sent the other card back showed it was received on wed. the 5 at 9:40am. I called the customer service line and the lady stated that it had been shipped to on Fri 7th. which was 5 days later than they had promised. The customer service person said it would be here no later than wen 12th. Well its now the 15th of Aug. still no product. Its now time for fraud charges to be filed. They are in breach of contract for failing to abide by the contractual sales agreement of the terms of the purchase. The have made 3 additional promised via email and over the phone and all have been broken.
Well its Sept. 9th I have received the product I ordered and a full refund for all the hassle. This company is going through some growing pains but hopefully well be all the better for it in the long run.
