I purchased a Canon Digital Rebel dSLR from Digital E-Tailer after seeing mostly favorable reviews on PriceGrabber. After purchasing I decided to check out ResellerRatings and got a little bit worried about what I saw, but the order had already been place.
Sure enough, the day after I placed my order I received an e-mail from Digital E-Tailer asking that I call them immediately rearding my order. I called them all fired up and ready for a confrontation regarding accesories, warranties, etc. I entered the extension provided in the e-mail and within 30 seconds was connected to a salesperson.
Much to my surprise, the person on the other end simply said that my order had been processed and would ship out that day. He also told me that I would receive an email containing a tracking number as soon as it became available.
That was it. No attempt to upsell, no pressure to buy a warranty. I was a little confused as to why it was necessary for me to call just for him to tell me that my order had been processed, but nonetheless I was very relieved to not have to deal with refusing accessories and potentially being told that the item was suddenly out of stock.
Just as promised I received a FedEx tracking number that afternoon, and--much to my delight--I received the camera first thing this morning. I have played with it for a couple hours and so far it seems to work perfectly, was brand new and in original packaging.
I would certainly buy from this company again as I saved $250 over BestBuy on the exact same item.

Very smooth experience. Was a little put off by ratings here, so I called them up after the order to make sure everything was fine. The merchant gave me a delivery date, which was exactly when I recieved the camera. Did not try to sell me anything else.
Overall a very pleasant experience and a great price for my camera.

Almot flawless experience... I researched the camera that I wanted and checked various sites for price and shipping. I found this seller to be the lowest in price with a fair, although not great, shipping rate of $15. The rating of 5 stars through CNET or wherever, told me that this was a reputable dealer with a good price. I felt confident that I made a good choice.
It wasn't until AFTER I made the purchase, and was told that it would ship the next day, that I was sent this website by a family member. I read all of the negative reviews!!! He said that the reviews on the other sites are fake, not really from buyers. Needless to say, the reviews on this site, along with the terribly low ratings made me VERY nervous. I then began to wonder what the odds were that I would receive the merchandise. I quickly prepared myself for some kind of aggravation to go along with the order.
After reading these reviews, I did email the seller requesting an order number just in case I had to refer to my order before it came... or if I was charged for it and it didn't come. I emailed them not once, but THREE times, never once receiving an email response from them.
Then I called. I did not wait on hold for more than a few minutes. I was told that my camera was sent out as promised, and I was then provided with a FEDEX tracking number.
I received the camera. Not only was it in perfect condition, brandy-new with all necessary items and USA warranty, it got to me in TWO DAYS.
The bottom line... decent customer service (they HAVE TO try to sell accessories to make a profit, but there was no HARD SELL on accessories. A "no thank you" works well. )
In addition, because I was worried, at first the lack of email response bothered me a lot. But when I called and got the info, then received the camera so quickly, I have nothing at all bad to say about them. I would have liked better email communication, but that isn't enough to give them a low rating!
Everything went smoothly; no problems, no snags, merchandise as expected... and I did a whole lot of worrying for nothing.
Hopefully, they will get smart and fine tune their email responses. The only important thing is that I received the merchandise quickly.
The wierd thing is that when I went to look at my invoice for the number to fill in this review, the invoice reads BUTTERFLY PHOTO, instead of Digitale. I guess they have a few websites under different names??

A great experience! Already own a Pentax Optio S4 (great little digital camera, but that's another review) and wanted another for my wife. Began the online search. The really cheap prices were with etailers that had horrible reviews (bait and switch, rude sales reps, etc.) Those with great reviews had high prices. Yahoo Shopping revealed DigitaleTailer had a low price ($249 after $30 rebate) but mixed reviews on this site. Fully aware of the risks I decided to give them a try.
On Sunday I placed the order. On checkout found the standard shipping was $17.90. Ouch! Total price still very good though. Submitted order. Received order confirmation email almost immediately.
On Monday received call from sales rep Joey. "Here it comes,” I thought. Try to sell me accessories I don't need, tell me they're out of stock but have something even better, etc. To my delight Joey never once tried to sell me anything else, sell me the extended warranty or anything! He just thanked me for my order and confirmed my delivery information. He then asked me if I would be willing to go to Yahoo and rate them. I agreed and he said in appreciation he would upgrade shipping to 3-day select for no extra charge!
Not one to give credit where credit is not due, I decided to wait for delivery before posting a review. Would delivery be timely? Packaged well? Receipt included for rebate? UPC code still on box?
Package arrived on Wednesday! Sent 2nd day air! Perfect condition! Receipt and rebate form in the box!
The only lingering question is whether Pentax will accept the rebate. Some reports of rebates being rejected because online vendors are not "authorized retailers". No reports of such with DigitaleTailer and I don't want to wait 6-8 weeks to post a review. So let's assume the rebate goes through. In any event, I don't hesitate to give 5 stars to this etailer and I will do business with them again!

Ordered the Minolta Dimage Z1 on Wedsnday, received it on Friday. Called twice before purchase, the phone staff was neither friendly nor rude, very acceptable, were to be a little pushy about purchasing accessories after I asked about extended warranty. That was slightly annoying, especially since I had already decided to buy the warranty if it was offered at a reasonable price. They stopped bugging me (both times) when I told them I wasn't interested in anything but the warranty. So far, the camera works flawlessly, the shipment arrived on time, and in perfect condition. After reading some of the other reviews about them, I was a little worried, but after this experience, I would most likely buy from them again.

I ordered a Canon G3 Digital Camera on Tuesday. Recieved a call on Wednesday to confirm my order (left message to call them back). Called back Wednesday evening. Talked to the sales rep asked a few questions and tried to sell me accessories but not high pressure. I told them no to the accessories and extended warranty. They shipped my camera Thursday and I recieved it on Monday by Fedex. Overall pleasant experience. Would order from them again.

I've read all the reviews, most dated months ago. I ordered a Canon S50 digital camera on 4/16/03, great price. The salesman asked, since it was a 5mp camera, do I need extra compact flash cards, I said no, I have these from a previous camera and he said great. The deal was done. Six hours later I received email confirmation and a Fedex tracking number. On 4/18/2003 I received my camera, everything is as it should be. Great service, great delivery.

I called Tuesday morning & ordered a Sony 717. Took the basic accessory kit, which was fairly priced. Salesman tried to sell me add-ons, but was not too pushy. It was sent basic ground service & arrived in Kansas Thursday morning at 11:30. Product was in factory sealed box. Great transaction, no problems. Very fast & straightforward.

I had previously ordered the Sony DSC F707 from Digital Dealz and cancelled my order the next day when given the "now out of stock" line. (see my comments on Digital Dealz's reseller listing) I use CNET for their ratings and went to Biz Rate, both gave positive ratings, so I was happy to spend about $125 more than what Digital Dealz price was, but still, at $818, much less than the going rate of $990. Then I went to this site and read the comments below and got nervous again. (shades of Digital Dealz!) I read Eli's (Digital E-Tailer customer service rep) concerns and for re-assurance, I sent him an e-mail.
Here are the events:
Ordered online 6/3/2002. "In Stock"
Received e-mail verification of order, comment in body "All orders must be confirmed by an account representative before processed"
Called that night, verbally told "In Stock" would I like some filters/accessories? No, not yet I said, No problem they said, deliver should be the 6th of June.
June 4th, Sent Eli query, called again, camera still in stock, order being processed.
Evening June 4th, Eli called me at home and gave me the UPS tracking number. I told him why I had had concerns, he is very customer service oriented. He also spoke of some past software glitches which have since been fixed.
June 5th, order arrived at local UPS depot.(Ain't online tracking neat?)
June 6th, camera arrived as promised, brand new in original box, manufacture date last month!
Thank you Digital E-tailer and Eli. I recommend that you use their services. They aren't the lowest price, but I would say that they have the lowest price in which you actually receive the product!

I used the online order form. They had the absolute lowest price I could find for the hand held pc that I ordered. They shipped in 2 days and sent a tracking number via email. This is my first purchase through Digital E-Tailer and I couldn't be happier. I haven't had speak to customer support.

I ordered a Sony digital camera and a memory stick from these folks based on their low advertised price. After I placed my order, I began to read about people's experiences with this company - some were good and some were bad. My experience was very good. I did have to confirm my order via the phone at which time the account rep tried to sell me a bunch of stuff that I didn't want (I didn't buy anything more). I received a UPS confirmation email a couple of days later and the camera arrived on the date promised. Unfortunately, they had forgotten to include the additional memory stick that I had ordered, even though it was marked on the invoice as "shipped". I called them to let them know about the screw up and they shipped the memory stick the very next day and it arrived a week later. All in all, I'd have to say that my experience was a positive one - especially since I saved almost $100 compared to Circuit City's prices. This review was modified by its author, kkonet, on

Bought a Canon digital camera at a great price & received great service & delivery. Received a phone call the next day after ordering on line, confirming my order & offering me a great deal on rechargable batteries & a charger which I also bought. I received my camera two days later. Didn't expect all that along with your great prices. Way to go Digital e-Tailer!

I was concerned with using this vendor due to the comments here (although pricegrabber.com has them rated higher), but choose to purchase a Canon powershot G2 camera from them anyway.
They had a good price and it was in stock (nothing available locally and price would have been $170 more. I needed the camera the following week as I was going on vacation. It arrived as promised and has been working great. The only negatives were the shipping costs ($45 for 2nd day air) and they do pressure a little bit to buy extra products. I bought a spare battery but they matched the local price minus the sales tax. I would do buisness with them again if I really needed the product or if the shipping costs came down.

Digital e Tailer's provided a very competitive price on the digital camera and the smart media card that I wanted. Although the company shipped the wrong type of smart media card to me, the company's customer service rep was courteous and very responsive concerning the replacement/exchange process. The exchange was made without to much hassle (given that any exchange is a hassle under the best of circumstances) and I received the correct product within a short period of time. My only concern with this company is the high cost of freight; however, the product price was very good even when considering the freight cost. If Digital e Tailer continues to offer competitive prices, I would not hesitate to use them again.
