This company had the best price of a Garmin Zumo 550 GPS. I placed the order on the net and I got a email telling me to call them to verify the order. When I called they tried to sell me everything else under the sun at highly inflated prices. When I convinced them I was not interested in anything else they hung up on me. I got another email telling me that the item was out of stock and it would take 4-6 weeks to receive it. The email also included a statement about canceling my order. When I didn't call to cancel within one day the sent another email tellng me they canceled the order because of the long wait involved. This item showed "in stock" on their webpage. When they couldn't sell something else to recoup their money on the GPS they canceled the order. Do not buy from these idiots. They pull you in on the great price and then try and sell you other things they say you need.
Techon Digital is just another bait and switch scammer that advertises stuff they won't ship unless you agree to buy accessories at grossly inflated prices. They might as well offer the stuff for free, because they have no intention of actully shipping the merchandise.
In retrospect, it's just as well the order never shipped, because it was probably gray-market or refurbished crap anyway. Trying to return something is probably more painful than getting it in the first place.
Screw every one of these online no-name crooks. I hope they all go bankrupt. No more for me - From now on I'll stick to the better know online retailers, even if the item costs more.
Update:
I ordered my Garmin GPS from Amazon.com after getting the standard crapola run-around from these crooks. It was delivered in less than three days and I couldn't be happier, even though I paid a little more. I hope the NY Attorney General pays Techondigital a visit..............

Same experience as others. I ordered Garmin Nuvi 760, got order conformation telling me to call to confirm. Instead, I received their call, and the bait and switch routine began. I had heard it before, refused to bite on the offer of an overpriced memory card. The "rep" said fine, your unit will be on the way. Instead, the next day I received an email that the item was on back order, and the order was cancelled. These guys should be in jail.
BUYER BEWARE!! TECHON DIGITAL aka CAMERA WHIZ, INC. have a real scam going on here. You order from their web site and they call you the next day with a sleazy buy this and get this free scam and quote you a price. When you receive the order the price is wrong and when you try to dispute they say send everything back as it is a package deal and then they charge you a restocking fee. The customer service agent Jeffrey was extremely rude and accused me of trying to cheat him when I quoted the price I was given. Said the associate would never say that because he would lose money. He did admit that he charged me $10 too much though. When I told him I would dispute the charge he said go ahead they always side with us because I have the merchandise. I will go to any site available where you can write a review to warn other people about this practice. PLEASE BEWARE!!!!!
Sorry to say, I had a very similar experience as others. Placed an order for a nuvi 270 at a great price. Received an email that I had to call and confirm order. They first said I needed a memory card. I asked what kind and they replied, "The kind you do not have." Fortunately, I had done my homework and KNEW that the nuvi 270 took an SD card. Anyway, they wanted to sell me a 1 gig for $89.99 OR a 2 gig for $129.99. When I said I don't think I will need it, they offered me the 2 gig for $89.99 and would throw in a $50 case for free. I stood my ground and they offered me the 2 gig and case for $69.99 total. I told them I did not need any extras. They asked, "Would you like an extended warranty?" I said, "No thanks." They then said, "Okay, goodbye." and hung up. Today, 5 days after the order date, I received an email that the nuvi 270 was on back order and that my order is being cancelled! The scary part is that I put all my credit info, address, etc. into their system and they now have it. I would suggest calling possible retailers and trying to place an order without giving them your credit info until you are sure the deal is done. BEWARE, a lot of these folks are "real smooth talkers." AT LEAST do your homework first before you order. Good luck!
Like others, I ordered a product (Nuvi 760) from this company, drawn by the low price. They called me the next day and indicated I forgot to include the SD card in my order. After some harsh words, they cancelled the order, for which I am now grateful. Classic bait and switch!
Ditto what the others reported. Absoulute scam with these jerks. Bait and switch called and item now not in stock when pressured into ship date they canceled the order (just as well). Noticed they have the ba**s to now list an even lower bait price as well as the in stock on their site for the same item in effort to get more pigeons.
STAY AWAY FROM TECHONDIGITAL.....they're bums.
Just like other buyers, I too fell into the bait-n-switch scheme from this company. After declining buying accessories, they bluntly said my order was in back-order and won't be available for another 5wks!!?
Hey TechonD, are you in business to sell or to SCAM pple?

I had to cancel the order after I realized two things were happening. First the lowest price was teaser rate to get you to call and then power sell over-priced accessories. It's a gimmick not illegal. Second, the item advertised appeared to be a normal product for USA consumers, but when I refused the accessories I was asked why I wanted the International version of the product. It was a bait and switch to get me to cancel the order. This might be illegal because the salesman stated that the pollicy was on their website and I could not find it. Since I work for the Department of Weights and Measures, this will be investigated further.
I had the same experience with this company. I tried to buy a Canon PowerShot camera from them. I received an email telling me to call and confirm my order. When I called they tried to sell me a battery. I told them I just wanted the camera. They had horrible customer service and only deal with scamming you.
Do not do business with Technon Digital. Same story. Ordered Garmin Nuvi 750. They emailed that I needed to verify the order. When I called the tried to sell me a $18 SD card for $99. When I refused they informed me that the Nuvi was on backorder for 4-5 weeks. I cancelled the order.
The day after my purchase I received a call telling me that if I didn't purchase an overpriced special memory card that I wouldn't be able to store addresses or update maps on my Garmin. When I said I didn't want to purchase it, the caller became rude. I ended up cancelling my order completely. I contacted Garmin and confirmed that the callers information was false.
TechonDIGITAL.com (formerly, The Digital Nerds) advertises the lowest prices, but has NO intention of honoring the order unless one also buys absurdly priced accessories. The products are considerably cheaper than ANYWHERE else but the accessories are priced two to three or more times what they sell for elsewhere. After placing the order on line, I received an email purportedly to verify my order. The person tried to schmooze me and sell me a memory card, repeatedly asking personal, non-order related questions after I told him I needed to get back to work and just wanted to confirm that my order was in stock. After he could tell that I wasn't interested and I just wanted to confirm that my order was in stock, he told me it in fact WAS out of stock and would be one to two weeks.
I immediately looked them up on the some popular tech review forums and found this long list of negative reviews claiming the same bait and switch tactics and story after story of the exact same selling practices:
Please review this page as there are dozens of people with the exact same story and much much worse- people who've ordered from them only to find that the INCREDIBLY low priced product is out of stock after you didn't buy additionally OVER-priced accessories.
Please help shut these guys down by reporting them to the Better Business Bureau!
