My experience 9-19-2008...

Since TECHONdigital.com had the best price ($175.00 + shipping) for the Garmin Nuvi 260W GPS, I ordered one from them last night. After the order was completed, I was sent an email instructing me to call them on their 800 number to confirm the order. This morning when I called the representative (William @ X205),he told me I needed to buy an SD memory card for this GPS to work properly. This is not truthful. I have a Garmin Nuvi 260W, and it works fine without an SD memory card. The SD card is only required if you want to store and view pictures with it. I told him I had plenty of SD memory cards already and didn't need to buy his. Next He tried to sell me one of the extended warranties. I said "no thanks". Next he told me it comes with 2005 maps and if I wanted 2008 maps it would be an additional $50.00. At this point I told him to cancel the order, which he did.

Only after calling back to speak with a supervisor, did I learn that these Nuvi 260W's they're selling for $175.00 are leftover 2005 models that were originally sold in Japan before the Nuvi 260W was introduced here in the U.S. They represent them in their web ad as "brand new factory sealed units" without mentioning that they have old maps from 2005 in them. When you call to confirm your order, you get the high pressure slick pitch from them. If you deal with them you will be sorry!

Well, I feel like such a fool. I ordered a Sony camera on 8/1/08 online. It was a Friday night and I was called by them on Monday and asked why I hadn't ordered the extra battery to go with the camera. I told them that I already had a Sony camera with extra battery and was going to use the extra battery for the new camera if I needed it. At that time I was told it was a 5 week backorder for the camera. I had shopped for the camera in my city and found it was backordered in the few stores I visited, so I didn't think anything was fishy. I was annoyed a little when the customer service guy wanted me to buy another battery, but bells didn't ring in my head at that time.

I did find his accent odd and couldn't place it and asked him where he was from. He said Canada. I asked him if Techondigital was in Canada, he said yes. Then I realized that he sounded a bit like those old beer commercials on TV some years back with the funny guys from Canada.

Well, I called them today - it has been almost 7 weeks. I gave them extra time for shipping. They told me it was still backordered and did I know I had ordered the Japanese version of this camera? I told him I hadn't and none of my paperwork, nor my emails indicated it was the Japanese version. He didn't have an answer to that. He then offered me the American version for over $100 more and that it was in stock. I told him that I wasn't stupid (I guess I am though) and that I wouldn't fall for that old bait and switch scam. I told him to cancel my order and to let his boss or the owner know that I will find every online review site and post my scathing review of their business practices. I then shot off an email to them sharing my experience and to warn their owner - individual or corporation - that I will hunt them down and give them an earful about their deceitful business practices. Plus, I will report them to every single agency in their home town or country. I have the time. So here I am. I have dozens of more to do. I called my credit card company and instructed them to not allow Techondigital to charge anything. I told them to not authorize any charges for the next few months at all in case they try charging under a different name. I rarely use that card and don't even need it.

Please heed these reviews - DON'T BUY FROM THESE CON ARTISTS!!

I ordered a new Lumix DMC-TZ5K last Friday night a a Anniversary present for my wife. Their ad popped up on the google search page with a great price ($175), so I ordered one. Low and behold, on Sunday I got a call confirming my order. At that time the salesman told me it was a "gray market" camera w/ no warrantee, and the warrantee would cost an addl. $125. There was no mention of "gray market" anywhere on their website. Watch out for these scammers!!!

re:TECHONdigital

Phone before you buy online !
I placed an online order with this merchant. This merchant advetised a Magellan Maestro 3250 for the Lowest Price Leader of $159.00.

After placing the order the next day I received a call from William at ext 205 to confirm the order.
The merchant told me the mapping software was 2005/2006 software and that for the unit to work correctly he could update the mapping software to 2007/2008 version for an extra $40.00

Because of the price bump, I declined to confirm the order. I then called Magellan Cust service and they confirmed to me that this unit was first released in the 3rd quarter of 2007 and the software was good thru the end of 2008.

This merchant was evasive when my wife called back to cancel the order which they did. The point here is two fold:

1. Bait and switch low ball advertising
2. Notice the reviews are all very outstanding and yet I was not able to post a response of this sale's event from the merchants website.

Broken record. As with all the other reviews these guys need to find another line of work, like selling bridges. Scam, scam, scam! Cheap prices on the main unit, accessories are astronomical to make up the difference.

I placed my order (Canon SD770IS) ONLINE, but immediately received an e-mail requesting I CALL them to confirm my order. Hmmm, what's the point in ordering online if I have to call them. That sent up a red flag so, I decided not to call and waited to see what would happen. The next day a guy by the name Scott called and left a message saying that I needed to call him to confirm my order or it would not ship out. With the intent to give him a piece of my mind, I went ahead and called him the following day. I called several times throughout the day, but never got through. I'd either sit there waiting for a ring or just get ringing on and on without answer. Yes, it was during their business hours. A day later I received an e-mail and another phone message from Scott saying my order had been cancelled and that it would not ship out. Good for me, I didn't have to go through the aggressive selling battery that the others had to endure.

Bottom line and lesson learned - if it's too good to be true, it probably is.

Yeah, I'll end up paying an extra $20 - $40 for the camera, but it'll be from a reputable seller.

Serves me right not reading the other reviews first. Scammed as well. Ordered GPS, next day received high pressure call claiming unit wouldn't work without a flash card. Then upsold me a bunch of stuff claiming I needed (which was duplicates of what was included like the case, ac charger, etc). Said no problem if I wanted to return within 7 days. So I returned all the extras, but they said in order to receive a refund I had to return the GPS as well. Then tried to hit me with a 20% restocking fee if I did that. Now my credit card company is taking it into their hands. Joke! Crooks! Stay away.

A complete and total scam! It's the same story as most of the other reviews here. I ordered a Panasonic TZ5 camera, for the terrific price of $205. I received an e-mail asking me to call to confirm my order. When I called, they tried to upsell me to order a battery. I told them to listen to me, I only want the camera, no extras. They then said it was on back order for 5 weeks! Their website said it was available though. Don't shop here.

Ordered a garmin nuvi 260w for advertised price of $199.00. Got an immediate callback from vendor hawking many VERY overpriced add-ons. When I declined the add-ons he told me that the unit without add-ons had old 2005 maps and was backordered 4-6 weeks. Amazingly, he had units with current maps available immediatly for only $50 (read 25%) more! Declined his offer and cancelled order.
OBTW, was referred to this vendor by everyprice.com; amazingly, they have 100 glowing reviews with not one negative listed.

after reading all the badly negative reviews, i was still skeptical(because the price is too low). so instead of ordering through the internet, i called direct to the number. the operator told me the only way to order is through the internet then hang up.
i assume that all the other reviews are correct.

I tried ordering a Nuvi 760 from these guys and was tild that I had to buy an SD card in order to do an update to te maps unless I wanted to send it off to Garmin for 6 weeks.

The SD card they were trying to sell me was over 8 times the price of Best Buy's retail.

Upon refusal, he said that my unit was on back order.

I called the salesman a liar, retard, stupid and a douche. He then challenged me to a fight. I am awaiting the idiot to show up at my front door as I would love to whoop that punjab's butt back to israel.

Please read all other reviews, as they are absolutely accurate. I wasn't smart enough to check reviews out first, which I normally do. Guess I was so excited about finding a Panasonic Lumix tz5 for $205, that I lost my logic. Anyway, I got the same email other reviewers wrote about so I called them. After being on hold for several minutes, a man that not only had a very heavy accent, but also spoke so fast I could barely understand what he was saying to me. He tried selling me the memory card and batteries, saying the camera wouldn't work w/out either of these and they were greatly overpriced. then he said something about a grey model, which I did not understand and asked him to explain. He started YELLING at ME and told me to pay attention to what he was saying. When I figured out that he was telling me it was a grey scale camera - meaning it's not for USA sales and has no warranty (plus the manual is in Japanese). I asked how much it was to order what I actually wanted and it was almost $100 more. Then he just yelled and said he was cancelling the order and hung up on me. Now, I work in the customer service industry and have never spoke to a customer like that. I hope this company gets put out of business soon b/c no one should have to deal w/ that. I'm making it a personal little goal to find as many review sites that list this company and post what a horrible company Techondigital is.

These guys are real crooks. Just like everyone else, I ordered a GPS system and then was called and told that it would not work without a bunch of expensive, unnecessary upgrades which were priced about 10 times the normal cost. When I questioned them, they cancelled my order.

Just like everyone else's terrible experience. I purchased a GPS system and when I declined the upgrade they rudely told me, "Fine, your order is canceled!" They are definitely scam artists that need to be exposed. The disappointing fact is that complaints date back to 2005 and they are still in business. They already have an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB so filing a complaint with them (which I did) is only a first step. I took it one step further and contacted a NY news station prompting them to investigate and expose these businesses. If enough of us do this, they just might take some action.

WOW, i knew something was fishy going to techondigital.com but like everyone else i was lured in by their cheap prices. I saw them on everyprice.com and went and bought a canon powershot sd1100-IS plus a little case too. A customer rep called me no sooner than 2 minutes after placing the order to confirm it. He said there was no point in buying a camera without a decent battery and that the one that was supplied with the camera would only last 15 minutes. It was a battery that they were selling for $150.00 and was adding it for a just $100.00. I said "i don't know" and he replied "enjoy your order" and hung up. I called back, and answered to a man named "Jefferey". He said is was pointless to buy a camera without a battery and that "it's not like you're buying a house". I was a bit speechless at this point because i then realized this was all a scam. I wanted to cancel my order and Jefferey said he would throw in a $219.00 2g high speed memory stick, a cleaning kit, and tripod in for free. I still wanted just the camera and he said it was now a value package and that my only other option was to cancel the entire order. I felt lost at this point and went straight to my cc company and requested they protect my account. These guys are no different from thugs selling fake rolexes in front of liquor stores. WORST ONLINE EXPERIENCE EVER
