I will try to express my anger towards Frys.com. I received a confirmation email for the purchase of a Philips 42" LCD HDTV on Friday 4/27. Then they sent an email on Monday 4/30 stating they cancelled my order "per [my] request to Customer Service, or because the item is no longer available." When I called the 800 Customer Service Line to look for a solution the Frys Representative was unapologetic, told me the item was probably discontinued (false), and tried to get me to buy another TV from them.
Frys employed a fraud technique titled “bait and switch" to lure customers into a purchase of an advertised good that is not available but then a substitute good is. Do NOT do business with Frys.

I bought a PSU(Power supply unit) which is free after rebate. I mailed rebate form with proof of purchase and barcode on time. One month later got a card that says my claim denied because the purchase date is invalid. I called up the rebate processing agency and they told me they cant do anything neither they will not accept the fax of the purchase proof. I followed up frys.com customer support. Thank God I always make a photocopy of the rebate details. I never had any problem of rebates with other online stores except frys. They asked me to fax all proofs and told me they will get back on next day. I faxed. Next day never came. I keep calling these crooks everyday .Eventually I got the Phone number of the frys rebate resolution department. It is very disgraceful that how these guys are tactfully embezzling customers money day by day in this country. Be careful if you buy any rebate related item. (a) Always make a photocopy of the rebate proofs. I already complained to attorney general and BBB of California. I will not give up until I get my money back from this dishonest store. I will never recommend anyone to do business with this tricky store. If any of you got cheated by frys please raise your voice .Here are the websites you can write your comments.

I cannot express my anger towards Frys.com. They accepted an order for a 50" TV that was on backorder. Then they email saying it will be longer, then they email saying they cancelled my order. They won't sell me a same-spec'ed TV for the original price. I've bought hundreds of dollars of Polk speakers from them in the past, and I will never do business with them again. I will post on every message board I am a member of letting people know NOT to do business with Frys.
I AM CONTACTING THE CALIFORNIA ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE and I suggest you do as well! Let them know they are "baiting" customers in with low prices only to not ship them and/or however they screwed you!

EDIT: I have now filed complaints with the CA AG's office, the BBB in CA, and my local state's AG office.
EDIT (again): So I got a call from the "Frys.com Store Manager" I'm guessing since I filed with the BBB. The guy said he could not pricematch the same tv that was just a newer model. Either he was lying (which I believe) or this store manager has absolutely no power. He then tried to upsell me on several other sets, none of which were even the 1080p spec I was looking for. He said he would have someone else call me back that evening since he didn't know much about TVs, I never received a call again. This review was modified by its author, pixelbender, on

My credit card was billed the same day I placed my order. 6 days later, the order was canceled, and Fry's claims "out of stock."
Fry's has an issue: either a) Their inventory system doesn't work, or b) They underprice items then lie to customers about them being out of stock.
I see several other reviews citing the same problem.

Apparently they didn't like the price they had listed for a laptop. Without notification they cancelled the order. I didn't find out until days later. They also get approvals on your CC for things that are out of stock. If it's a check card it takes 3 days to get your money back.

My latest visit to Fry's Electronics - My last visit to Frys Electronics was hell in the form of a simple routine cpu and motherboard purchase to upgrade an older computer. The motherboard was DOA and I went to get it replaced at fry's. I waited 40 minutes in line to get to the return desk only to have them send me to the hardware aisle to get a new quote printed up. The new quote was printed up and I was told to go back to the return desk. I went back to the return desk and from here I was sent to the checkout line to PAY for my replacement item. This was totally weird but I figured the papers in my hand would resolve an even exchange. Turns out the motherboard was bought on a discount and I was now supposed to pay the difference between the discount price and current price. I argued at the counter and was sent back to returns after arguing with 3 cashiers and explaining to them that it was UNFAIR to have to pay a difference on a DOA part that was returned only ONE DAY LATER. Returns department couldn't help me because the person that handled me previously was gone and only she could UN-DO my paperwork and print me new paperwork for an even exchange. I'll try not to forget the fact that the manager yelled at me for not just asking for even exchange in the first place - I DID! Anyway, the employee never came back and the supervisor that told me to wait for her just went ahead and UN-did my paperwork despite that he said he couldn't do it earlier. Again, I was sent to the hardware department to have more paperwork printed to reflect the discounted price. This time, I wait an hour in line with numerous other customers that had been waiting 20-45 minutes before me for service. Everybody was mad as hell and I had no choice but to take a number. I finally get to a manager and he says he can't print me a quote for the discounted price and I had no choice but to go back to the return desk. I did but again they said I had to go back to the hardware department and tell them "Anthony says it's ok". I complained that I had already done that and finally, the 2 departments spoke to each other and handled my paperwork for me. It took me about 4 hours to return the motherboard. NOT WORTH MY TIME!

As has happened to many others- I purchased an item with 'free shipping' but did not check explicitly for the ground shipping (I had already selected it?) before final submit. End result: free shipping turns into $50 2 day shipping. I wasn't even in town when the item arrived and it was nearly sent back. I had to arrange someone else to sit in my driveway and wait for it. After all the hassle, of course, Outpost refuses to refund me the shipping charges. I will NEVER buy anything from this website EVER again.

I placed an order for Kingston Memory with them and it never arrived. They ship via DHL which said the order would arrive on Friday Feb 9th. Waited all day and product never arrived. I called Fry's outpost and they said it was already delivered on wednesday the 7th. I told them I never recieved this and they told me the DHL driver left it at my door. They started a claim and on called me back the next tuesday saying they weren't going to send me another product because the DHL driver says hie gave it to someone at my house! Considering I'm the only one home wednesdays, I never got anything and now I have to file a claim with my credit card company to get my money back on this product. I will never shop at this retailer again!

Multiple e-mail ignored, shipping atrociously late. No communication. Website showed "In process" long after the product was shipped. Impossible to get a human on the phone.
This has been the most atrocious customer service experience I've had in years, and the nightmare doesn't seem to be over yet.
Stay away, stay far, far away from these sleazeballs.

I received an e-mail ad from Outpost.com with a Transcend MP3 player for $15 after a $25 rebate. I placed the order on-line and clicked on the link to get the rebate form and the link was broken. I e-mailed Outpost support with their online message system about the broken link and also filled out a request to be mailed the rebate form through there web site. I never heard from them so after a week I called their support number and was e-mailed the rebate form pdf file. That form directs you to a second web site (onrebate.com) to file for the rebate and also states your rebate must be postmarked within 6 days. I couldn't find my product at Onrebate with the supplied rebate code or by looking for the product. I e-mailed my problem to Onrebate along with my concern that even if I found the product that it was already to late to claim the rebate and I carbon copied this message to Service@Outpost.com. I never heard from Onrebate and Outpost.com replied with another PDF of the rebate form.

Placed an order with them for a Panasonic Plasma. Two days later, the price dropped. I tried calling "customer service" and was disconnected (after on hold for an hour and 15 minutes), so I called again. Again I was on hold for well over an hour. I was curtly told Fry's does not price match. I asked about their 30 day "satisfaction guaranty". I was told this does NOT apply to this purchase. All sales are final on large TV's. I couldn't believe that they wouldn't match their own price a day or two later. I then proceeded to email "customer service" several times over the next couple of weeks hoping I would find a reasonable response. Not ONE of my emails has ever been responded to.
VERY DECEPTIVE and unclear wording on their website as to exactly what their policies ARE.
I did receive the product in good condition (thank goodness) and in a reasonable amount of time, but I dread to think of dealing with Fry's-Outpost if there was a problem with an order or if it was damaged in shipping. Is it really worth the $100.00 savings dealing with this company?? A store with good customer service is worth much more than that in just the time and aggravation of being on hold with Fry's!
Before giving Fry's your hard earned money, look at some of the other reviews here; quite a few share the same story- long hold times, repeated disconnections, terrible customer service and poor store policies.

This transaction was unbelievably bad. I ordered a $600 television from frys.com to be shipped through DHL. Shipping was delayed two days, and then the television was "lost" by DHL.
I immediately called frys.com to report this, and they told me that they were going to file a claim with DHL, which, they said, had to be processed before they called me back.
Four days after the first call, still not even a call back or an email. I called in to express my frustration, and Frys promised to have a manager call me. Of course, no call was forthcoming.
Five days after this second call, I called to check on the "status" of this fiasco, and was told it was still processing, in a department which the CSR claimed she did not know the name of. I requested that she give me their address and fax number. I faxed off a letter expressing my unhappiness. I still did not receive a return phone call.
Two days after the third call, I followed up again by phone. They now told me that the item was "discontinued" and that they will not be shipping a replacement. They promised to credit the money back for the television, but could not do so until "next week," which, they claimed, was the earliest they could get a manager to review the credit back.
It is now twenty days past the purchase date, and I still have not even received my money back from this outfit.
They refused any discount or compensation of any kind for this fiasco.
Obviously I am very, very unhappy with this experience. Shockingly, from reviewing the other stories here, this is not an isolated experience, and others have had their orders "lost" with Frys being completely unresponsive to their inquiries. (For instance, see cw123's experience with ordering a laptop at the beginning of December, and stillnot receiving it by the end of January.) Finally received an email today (Feb. 12) that they're crediting my money back.
Be careful with these guys. This review was modified by its author, squawker, on

I purchased a software from Fry's and tried to return it. They refused to take that because the bad attitude staff said they just don't accept software return, after they used a knife to open the item and investigate it. I requested them to write a note that it's Fry's open the box. They refused to do it. Of course I can return it to the Manufacturer because it provides a "90 days Money Back Guarantee for any reason." I still think the store at Manhattan Beach, CA overall provides a bad shopping experience and customer service.
Also, I bought a 50-pack "Great Quality" CD-R a couple years ago, fewer than one third could work, while Toshiba, Philips brands without any problems. I complained it by filling up a Fry's survey card to their General Manager, but had no any response. From then on, I just walk away from those low-priced Fry's brand "GQ" products. I orderded a laptop on 12/09/06 and still have not received it. I called customer service numerous times (4-5) and waisted a lot of time waiting on the phone. The answer I receive is we're still investigating ... This review was modified by its author, cw123, on

OUTPOST.COM/FRY.COM is one of the worst stores to deal with. The low prices are often because of rebates tacked on and they never deliver the rebate money. They make it very convenient for themselves by requiring rebates to be mailed out within 10 days of the purchase and then ship the item on the 6/7 day. So by the time it reaches you its almost impossible to reasonably test it and send the rebate. Even if you do send the rebate out, the rebate company will keep missing your mail and ask to resend it every time you call them till the rebate expires. In my case I had to resend the rebate copies twice and they still claim that they did not receive it. Now the rebate has expired and my claim is no longer valid and they want me to send an email to their customer service to get the details of my rebate. What an utter waste of my time and money. I will never shop with outpost.com/fry's. These guys are a bunch of crooks out to cheat you off your money. STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS!!! There are better places to donate your money.
