This is a company that is a pleasure to deal with. First and foremost, they have a great sales and customer service department. You can call them, web chat or email them. They are glad to give advice or help with your purchase. Even after the sale they are available to help you. This is quite refreshing nowadays.
Usually though, Crutchfield's prices are fairly standard msrp. Its the price you pay for great customer service. This time though, my item was on sale and their price was the lowest around. Plus their shipping charges are excellent. Ground shipping was free, but next day was only $15. That is less than some retailers wanted for ground shipping!!
I ordered on Wednesday, received it on Thursday AND the price with next day shipping was less than anyone else with ground shipping.
Crutchfield is customer service. Its a place I am sure I will purchase from again.

Very positive experience buying an expensive CD player. Shipped 3 hours after ordering, took 2 days! (and that's standard free shipping to 900 miles away) Phone personnel courteous, and knowledgeable and helpful even when I didn't buy anything (on a previous occasion). I got one that popped up on their "scratch & dent" page, got 15% off for a virtually invisible scratch, new merchandise, great buy on a model that is not discounted anywhere.
I highly recommend this store.

I ordered yesterday 12/16/07 after speaking with customer service about questions I had on a particular head unit. Which I must say was professional. They really know how to take care of their customers. Soon after I received an order confirmation via e-mail, couple of hours later a shipment notice. All this on a sunday. Received the order the next day 12/17/07; I selected free ground shipping. My order came with the head unit plus the free wiring harness for my car and an install kit AND an iPod cable as bonus! Very happy with the value of the purchase. All the items were packed nicely with packing peanuts and box was undamaged. I have ordered a few items from them before and it has always been this way. Overall I am extremely pleased with everything; quality of service, customer service, speedy processing/shipment, and great price. I would definitely order from them again.
Follow-up (12/27/07): I have decided to exchange/upgrade my head unit. There was nothing wrong with the current head unit, I just decided to upgrade. The only issue I had with Crutchfield was a refund that wasn't issued after the Kenwood receiver was returned with the proper return authorization. They didn't bother to send me an email saying they received the return. I had the tracking number that said it was delivered and when I called the next week to find out why my return wasn't issued, the customer service said they were waiting on a defective amp that I had also shipped back on a different return authorization that was issued some five days after the first for the Kenwood. This isn't how they explained the return process to me, until I called in the following week. I told them that I did my part and returned the Kenwood and they should issue a refund, but they were inflexable. I told them I would pay for the defective amp and they could credit me back when they got it, (they sent me a replacement) but they wouldn't do that either. So now I own a kenwood receiver that is in their ware house and I haven't received any notice that they even received it. (it was unopened) I also shouldn't have to learn all this a week after they haven't issued a refund, and I had to call them. All I want is the refund to the Kenwood they have had for a week! I feel they are taking advantage of me and keeping my refund longer than necessary. Who knows what would have happened if I hadn't called?
The email clearly states the policy which I followed. They should have refunded the Kenwood and if the amp isn't returned they will charge my credit card. I don't appreciate spending over $1500, doing everything I'm supposed to do, and have to deal with them changing their policy at my expense. It was a very unpleasant experience.

Crutchfield continues to impress. I ordered speakers from them years ago, had trouble with some static in one of them so gave them a call. They shipped me a brand new speaker free of charge and didnt even ask for the old one back($300 speaker)!
My most recent order was for a Panasonic TH-50PX77U 50" High Definition Plasma TV. Like a previous poster, I agree with their credit card security. My order was held up over the weekend since I had just moved so my shipping address was different from my billing address. They went as far as verifying my phone number with my credit card issuer! Comforting to know they go so far to protect against fraud.
White glove delivery was included free of charge and the tv arrived within 3 days after processing! It was packed very well with a device to tell if the tv was handled too rough in transit. Setup was a breeze with the included manuals, and having a trained tech from Crutchfield on standby is always comforting it a problem should arise.
The best part about this last order though was a $300 credit I recieved. I paid $2300 but they lowered the price down to $1999 within 30 days of my purchase so they refunded the differance, awesome! They really are a top notch company, keep up the great work!

Wow, I placed my order on a Friday and had it on Tuesday. The customer rep was knowledgeable and courteous and when I called a few minutes later to add an item, it was done immediately. I will go to this store FIRST for all my electronic needs. Thanks Crutchfield!

Crutchfield has earned a reputation for excellent service before and after the sale. Their vehicle database for car audio is unmatched anywhere, and the few times I've needed to speak with someone there, they've always been very courteous, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. Their prices are not necessarily rock-bottom, but with the free adapters, instructions, and support they provide, it ends up being a very good value.
Shopping on their website couldn't be easier. I placed an order over the weekend, and I had a tracking number and shipping information within hours. My head unit and speakers actually arrived via UPS a day BEFORE they were supposed to. Installation was a snap, but it was nice to know that Crutchfield would most likely bail me out of any mess into which I got myself.
Crutchfield was great long before the Internet, and their tradition continues. Nothing but positive experiences to date for me. This review was modified by its author, rmay483, on

I bought a Panasonic TZ1 camera from Crutchfield without realizing that it only had a 90 day labor warr and at 95 days I started having a problem with the flash and shutter not being in sync, I got black or extremly blownout photos with flash. When I check on several digital camera forums on the inernet, I found that many people all over the world was having the same problem, I contacted Chrutchfield (my 1st time to contact Crutchfield except to place an order) to see if they would check with Panasonic to see if they had an inherent problem with the TZ1. Crutchfield's response was: talk to Panasonic, don't talk to us!
Although Crutchfield charges higher prices, they convey extreme CUSTOMER SERVICE (Bill Crutchfield sends a letter out with each order telling me this) and becuse of this I've bought a lot of product from Chrutchfield and told many other people to buy from Crutchfields. Now that I have found that Chrutchfield is just like the other retailers when it comes to customer support after the purchase and will be shopping elsewhere and telling everybody else to do the same!
I just bought a Canon S3 IS (with a 1 Yr labor warr) for $100 less than crutchfield and I'm sure that if I have a problem they will be able to match Chrutchfield's response: don't talk to us talk to Canon! In addition I'm am trashing the TZ1 camera and I am in the process of buying a Canon SD700 IS from somewhere else other than Crutchfields and I'll be saving $80. So good by Crutchfield, I hope you get a lot of customers with all those wonderful catalogs you send out (I've got 20 to 30 in the last year) and your wonderful letters touting your customer service after purchase, but you wont keep them with your high prices and your don't talk to us customer support!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Received a 'scratch & dent' Sony DHG-HDD250 i.e. was previously opened and returned. Arrived very fast and Crutchfield replaced all cables that were not returned from previous owner. Came with all original packaging and manual. No noticable scratches or dents and could not otherwise believe was previously owned. Been using quite extensively for a month with NO problems. First time I have bought a 'scratch & dent' item and quite satisfied. Have bought new items from Crutchfield in the past and did not doubt in this purchase. Would do again. These guys are excellent. They're by no means the cheapest Internet retailler, but they do frequently beat in-store prices.
I bought a Pioneer car head unit and Aux input adapter off them in November '05, and got free shipping and an installation kit (wiring harness and dashboard cut-out) into the bargain. These items would have cost me an extra $20 from a store.
The install kit worked perfectly - had the whole thing set-up in less than an hour. In years gone by, I've worked away into the small hours, installing such stuff without the custom wiring harnesses.
The head unit was on backorder, but it came exactly when they said it would. Other items arrived separately, as per the delivery time stated.
Website is very easy to navigate, and it tells you which car audio components fit the holes in your car - very important for speakers.
They also give you some installation notes, and you can download the product user manual PDFs from the website.
Best Internet retailler I've ever purchased off.

this is my second order with crutchfield in the past two weeks, and everything has gone great. they ship out their products extremely fast, they are packaged very well when they arrive, and their customer service is excellent. they may not have the lowest prices, but they are an honest company who cares about their customers and thats why i have done business with them many times, and plan on doing more in the future.

I have made purchases from Crutchfield for almost 20 years since a roommate in college introduced me to them. They are truly a stellar organization (and many retailers would be astounded to hear such praise coming from me).
Over the years I have purchased 2 car stereo systems (installation instructions are accurate and easy to follow and tech support is superior to anything I have ever experienced elsewhere), cordless phones, home entertainment system/stereo(I love my Polk/Onkyo system), digital video camera, and other purchases I am sure are alluding my memory at the moment.
While I would love for Crutchfield to always be the lowest price (and many times they are) I will gladly pay the small premium to support such a great organization and not have to become another listing on this website about an electronics company that are a bunch of crooks.
To give you an idea about the type of customer service they give, when I purchased my home entertainment system they were running a special on Polk speakers that included a free black sub-woofer. After ordering it on the web I called the next day to check to see if they would give me the subwoofer in Cherry. Not only did they do agree to ship me the Cherry finished subwoofer, they ate the cost of shipping the entire order twice to make this happen for me.
This company is the exact opposite of everything I have ever read about other electronics companies out there. I will stop looking elsewhere now and be comfortable that this is the place to buy all of my electronics. The only thing I need to ask myself is why after so many great experiences have I still been looking in other places? I always end up ordering from them anyway...

Simply put, Crutchfield is one of the best online stores I ordered from, especially in means of customer service.
I ordered from them several times and reffered a lot of friends. Everybody seems very satisfied with their purchases.

They have amazingly fast service - actually I think the best I've ever seens anywhere online.
Buy it today - and after few hours you should get tracking number. Now that's what I call fast!

Returning or exchanging is excellent. It's really really convinient. All necessary forms are included within your package. And get this! Return shipping is free on most products!

Customer service at Crutchfield simply sets the standards. Agents are extremely friendly & nice, I always got the help I needed. Everything here is smooth & easy.

I must say, what a great experience dealing with Crutchfield. I ordered a Toshiba 46" DLP TV from them and the whole process was so smooth and pleasant.
To make a long story very short, I tried dealing with Hype Audio - absolutely horrific experience. I decided it was not worth it anymore to deal with the lowest-price , so I went with customer service and satisfaction - precisely what Crutchfield offers.
I will do all of my business through this company from now on. The price may be a bit higher, but you most certainly make up for it with excellent customer service, simplified order and tracking system, knowledgeable and friendly salesmen, and prompt, accurate delivery.
No, I do not work for the company. I am just a satisfied customer.
