I bought a reconditioned D2H from Cameta during the feeding frenzy of the D2x launch. I bought it on the Ebay site. This is just the latest of my major purchases from this firm but I feel that this transaction was typical of the others.  
 
I got exactly what was described in the auction EXCEPT that I received a 90 day Nikon factory warranty IN ADDITION to the promised 1 year Cameta warranty. The camera was described as a refurb. It only had two or three hundred shutter actuations on it when it arrived. It was "as new" in all other respects. The battery, charger and paperwork were new.  
 
Six months (and three thousand exposures) later the dreaded (and common) D2H metering problem occurred. I sent the camera back to Cameta and had it delivered back to me three weeks later in perfect condition.  
 
As far as I am concerned, Cameta's performance has been flawless. They have beat my expectations every time.

Got both my Nikon 17-55 f/2.8 and most recently my d2h from cameta and very much enjoy dealing with them.  
 
I got my 17-55 using the "buy it now" on one of their ebay auctions and was very pleased it shipped out within 24 hours. When I called to inquire the same day as the auction ended they were happy to look up my information and confirm shipping, etc. - friendly and nice to deal with, and they followed through 100%.  
 
For my d2h, I simply called and ordered one of their demo cameras and likewise whty were honest and straightforward and made me feel good about giving them my business.  
 
I will definitely deal with cameta again and rank them as one of the best camera stores I have ordred from.

Have purchased digital SLR and additional lens from CametaCamera in the last 2 months. Talked to salesman when I purchased the camera and he offered additional items on sale but was not pushey or rude. I declined and he said fine. Shipped camera and lens fast and both items were delivered fast by UPS. Would recommend this seller to anyone.

Completely hassle free purchase from E-bay store. I was even able to modify the package after purchase. Shipment was quick. Sales staff was courteous and helpful. Products were new as described. No pressure to buy additional accessories, but they were offered. I will definitely use them again.

Have made purchases from Cameta Camera many times. Most recently bought a Nikon D2H. Their prices are competitive and their customer service is exceptional. I usually deal with Ray Allen (sales rep) when I go there - nice guy.

i've never had a good feeling about this store; i've been to their physical location twice and been ignored each time, and even that aside, it just doesn't feel like a helpful or friendly place. but i was eager to get my hands on a Nikon D2X and found that Cameta had them - and because this is a highly sought-after and as yet hard-to-find camera for which they knew people would pay a premium, they were taking advantage of the situation and selling the cameras on eBay in a successful effort to gouge each buyer for hundreds more than the camera's standard street price of $4999 and change.  
 
i thought this was slimy, but like many people, i wanted the camera badly enough to overlook it. i figured that if they had them for sale on eBay, they probably had them for direct sale as well, so i called the store and asked and was told yes, they had them - for $5,199.00. i immediately said, "forget it - i was looking for $5000" and was told the saleswoman would see if She could do that. She put down the phone, and in about ten seconds picked it back up and said they could do $5000.00 (i still wonder whether She actually asked anybody or was just making it seem like She had). from then, the purchase and delivery were problem-free - until i found myself having problems with my camera and called Cameta for help. i wound up talking to a guy who was clearly much more salesman than photographer, and who basically saw my call for support as an opportunity to pitch an extended warranty to me that i had been told previously could not be purchased except at the time of the sale - which indicates that in addition to the other questionable practices, i was lied to as well. the guy offered next to no useful help - he spent a long time talking about mechanical problems and sophomoric user errors irrelevant to my situation - but he did try to squeeze more money out of me.  
 
i now regret having been impatient and bought my camera from Cameta, because i know from experience that the staff at Berger Bros. or B&H would be far more helpful to me. fortunately, the one useful thing the salesman did do was to confirm my suspicion that one of my lenses might be at fault...and i bought the lens at B&H, so getting help - at least with this particular problem - should be easier from this point on.  
 
i do not recommend Cameta Camera. it's very clear to me that, unlike some others who sell camera equipment because they know and love photography, Cameta is in this business for no other reason than the money, and as much of that as they can grab.

I ordered a Canon Rebel XT package from this online reseller over eBay. I called them up twice befored I ordered to discuss the lenses and add ons that were included with this package. The gentleman was extremly friendly and didn't try to hard sell me. When I finally did call back to place my order, he was courteseous and never once tried to upsell me into anything that I didn't want or need. My order came the day that they told me it was supposed to arrive and everything was intact and as promised. The spare battery didn't charge at all, but when I called their customer service they were extremely apologitic. They gave me instructions as to how to send it back, and within one week I had a new spare battery that worked fine. No extra charges for shipping or any hassle what so ever. This company is for real and it seemed like they really appreciate my business. No complaints what so ever. I would buy from then again and I am recommending them to all of my friends and family!

We ordered a Nikon D2HS, Nikon 70-200 VR f/2.8, Nikon SB-800 speedlight, and an extra Nikon EN-EL4 camera battery for the D2hs. The total was over $5,000. The transaction was FLAWLESS. We have now placed almost $10,000 worth of orders with Cameta Camera and have NEVER had a problem.  
Camera Dealers with low customer satisfaction ratings I would not even consider doing business with, regardless of their advertised prices. Remember... if its too good to be true.. then the company is most likely a rip-off operation.  
 
This last transaction with Cameta was actually amazing, because it was a complicated purchase (due to administrative specifics on our end). Cameta was able to work with us every way to ensure a smooth and quick multi-part transaction that we required to be Next Day Air shipped, and the order processed in a minimal amount of time.  
 
My hat is off to Cameta who communicates via email excellently.  
 
I would guess that in the rare cases where people have had problems with established companies like Cameta, B&H, and a few others, usually don't have their ducks in a row when they communicate or place an order with the company.  
 
We archive all our receipts, rebates, emails, etc... and have never had a problem. We also have a rule that protects us as a buyer. "If we don't see it in writing, then it isn't legally enforceable or necessarily true". This keeps us from "assuming" anything. If a company puts something in writing (whether it be email or an advertisement), and they don't give you what you paid for.. then sue them, and have copies of your receipts, their advertisements, etc., etc., in hand. THAT is called having your sh*t together when there is a problem. Otherwise, you're wasting your time.  
 
Cameta Camera, B&H and a few others in NY are great to deal with. Stay away from places like Broadway Photo, Marine Park, and other scamming bait-n-switch operations that take money from fools everyday ! Only purchase from those with good reviews from actual customers !!!

I purchased my Nikon D70 from Cameta Camera through Ebay. I am new to the camera market and they were very helpful and absolutely no pressure. I have had to call the company several times and I must say the service was the best I have ever had! They solved my issue, they were very polite and went far beyond what I expected. I have told several friends and they are going to purchase their next camera from Cameta!!

I placed the order for a Nikon D70 with extra lenses and CF card on mon morning. The sales Rep, Bob Klein was very, very honest and helpful. he did offer my and extended warranty, but I declined and he never asked again.  
 
Their prices were the best I could find from a reputable store, and I did look for some time.  
 
I asked for overnight shipping, and they quoted me an excellent rate , just 38 bucks. I checked with UPS, and this was exactly the right amount. They didnt overcharge me at all.  
 
Their packagaing job was great, everything was well insulated.  
 
Everyting arrived on time with absolutely no hiccups.  
 
I would definitely reccomend this store to everyone.

I have won eBay auction number 3870219247 from Cameta (cametaauctions) for a "Demo" Nikon D2H, while checking thru the auction description, I realize that they do not ship to Indonesia; Malaysia or Singapore. Since I have done over 600+ transactions in eBay with only positive feedbacks, so I wrote to them to apologies for not picking up this imposed "constraint" earlier and requested them to give an exception to ship to Singapore where I live. Two days later, I receive an email reply that they will not give exceptions to this policy. Immediately, on the same day I responded to Cametaauctions to ship the camera to my Houston's office and also provided my credit card details for the payment. Again, two days later, I receive an email that they can only ship the camera that is being paid for with a credit card to the billing address and advice me that if I would like my camera shipped to an alternative address, they can only accept payment via 1) Money Order, 2) Certified Bank Check or 3) Someone in U.S. to pay on my behalf. On the same day after I have received the email, I contacted them via long distance call, but was told that the person in charge has left for the day. I have therefore sent another email reply that I will purchase a Money Order in U.S. Dollar to be drawn on a U.S. Bank for the payment. On the same evening my time (where NY is 09:30 hour) I made another long distance call to Cameta and as soon when I explain that I will send a Money Order as per their request, the Customer Service accuse that the Money Order from Singapore will be fake, and insist that the auction/order is cancelled. When I request to speak to her supervisor, I was put on hold for over 10 minutes and subsequently a lady claim to be the manager pick up the call, same answer given by the Customer Service, not offering any solution just claiming that any payment from Singapore will be fake despite I have asked her to check on my feedbacks standing. When I ask to speak to her supervisor, I was told that she will be the highest lever I can approach in Camerta, and her final decision is that my order is cancelled!  
 
In reviewing Cametaauctions auction details, they have only stated that they do not ship to Indonesia, Malaysia or Singapore. As in my case, I have provided them a U.S. address for shipment, I certainly cannot appreciate their allegation that all Money Orders from Singapore will be fake, since I have no problem waiting for them to clear the Money Order with their bank before the shipment! I have bought over 100 cameras in U.S. alone (new, used, direct or auction) over the last few years, certainly have never came across a seller like Cameta!

After getting dicked around by ExpressCameras.com (Don't ever trust or do business with EC) I decided to try Cameta after finding this site. Damn good choice. Have ordered more items from after the initial purchase.  
 
eBay auction listing - Canon 20D with 17-85 IS USM, 1 Gb 133x memory, CF reader, no nome battery and case for about 2K with shipping about 20$.  
 
Called to do some background checking and found to be helpful. Not bubbly happy, but answered everything I asked with no run around. Polite and reasonable accessory or add on (upsell?) questions with NO hard sell.  
 
Camera shipped a day earlier than promised (UPS Tracking number mailed to me) and arrived in about three days. Well packed. Quickly hit canon web site to check if grey market - camera and lens true USA new stock. Camera bag was on back order - whoopie ding dong. Just received e-mail bag has shipped to arrive Wed.  
 
Good to better prices.  
Good sales people.  
Excellent communications.

After weeks of searching for a camera and reseller, I settled on the Panasonic Lumix FZ20 and decided to purchase from Cameta on ebay. Being somewhat concerned that I hadn't actually held one of these cameras to sort of touch and feel, I called them to ask about return policy. They said they don't accept returns for refunds but if I absolutely didn't want the camera I could exchange it for full value. Well I'm happy to say I didn't have to test that policy because I'm very satisfied with the camera. Anyway, After reading several reviews about sellers who wouldn't deal with if no "extras" were purchased, that became my number one criteria for selecting a seller. I called several, didn't like the tone of most of them. Cameta (Greg) was not only helpful in describing the camera, assuring me it wasn't gray market, and that they were in fact authorized dealers, and explaining the return policy, but he wasn't pushy about add ons. I said no and that was the end of that conversation.  
 
Once I had made the purchase, a second phone call was required to complete the transaction. They told me that due to christmas backlog shipping delay would be about a week for ground shipments. I asked for (they didn't offer) 3 day select and they were happy to oblige. They told me that my camera would ship by the 7th, I would recieve an email with all info, and I would see my camera on the 11th. Everything they said would happen, Happened, and on the time table they said it would take place. For service, I couldn't be happier.  
 
The package... Everything was there with factory sealed packaging.. If you are looking for a digital camera, and have found this review, give them a call. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I purchased a D70 w/two lens. Fast shipping and great customer service. They are very knowledgeable of their products and even gave me a great 4 year warranty deal w/my order. I highly recommend Cameta for any sales. Great seller and I would definitely buy again from them when it's time to upgrade.
