I was dead scared but can't pass up on a Nikon D300 Factory Demo package they were selling on ebay,so after reading a few online reviews about the store, I closed my eyes and took the risk. Package arrived 5 days later and the camera is brand new,in perfect working condition and amazingly spotless. It almost made me forget I bought a factory demo. The 2 lenses, 133X Compact flash, spare battery and cleaning kit were all new. I can never be more satisfied with my decision and purchase. Cameta earned my trust and confidence. I'm looking for more accessories on the website as I'm writing this review.

I have similiar experience with veryslick. I ordered D60 outfit and found an uncleanable dust in the 18-55mm lens so I sent it back for inspection. A gentleman called me and told me he can do nothing with the problem but he can replace me a BRAND NEW lens if I purchase 2yrs extended warranty and other items. I agreed the deal and received my "new lens". However when I registered the lens I found the card was filled by someone from Boston. The lens was pre-owned. and pictures took by this lens were not good. I called and emailed to them and finally I am happy I got full refund. Had it was a not filled register card, I'd nerver thought they sent me a pre-owned lens as a BRAND NEW lens. I thought I was just not luck, but now I believe I am not alone.

The original lens returned was not exchanged as there was no problem found. The offer to either courtesy exchange the lens was made or buyer could upgrade to a pro kit with an extended warranty for the camera (which he did not originally purchase) and a brand new lens was made. A brand new lens was shipped to the buyer. Buyer was still unhappy with the sale so a full refund was issued as an accommodation. |

I was one of the unlucky ones. Purchased from ebay a Canon XSI kit. I am disappointed that the item was described in auction number 200364923848 as new and never opened/sealed, but I received an open box grey item, with warranty card torn off and missing. There were smudges on the LCD screen. There was also a lot of dust on the sensor which I saw from performing the printout test on white paper. I needed it soon as a present for my kid. Buyer beware, I think they just try and send whatever they have and if nobody complains it is their gain.
this is a response to the seller's response:
I never received any advise on contacting Canon, nor was I given the option to return for a refund, I requested for an exchange which was never processed. Why in the world would a seller keep the portion of the warranty card. As far as I know, warranty cards are to be mailed by the owner to the manufacturer, not kept by the store. BUYER BEWARE!!!! Item was sold exactly as described. Factory sealed means as it was shipped from the factory/manufacturer. Items are not sold shrink-wrapped as Canon does not package them in that fashion. We advised the buyer he can call Canon to confirm these details. Warranty card was torn as the seller must retain the dealer copy of the warranty card for proof of sale for the manufacturer; again this may be confirmed. Buyer was offered a return for a refund of the purchase price as we did not want him to keep something he is not happy with. Buyer chose not to return the equipment.
UPDATE:
The offer for a return for a refund was provided in the voicemail left for you on 8/15/09. The copy of the warranty card you keep referring to is the "dealer copy" which we must keep as proof of sale for the manufacturer. You can confirm said details with Canon USA directly. |

I PURCHASED A NIKON D60 KIT FROM THEM, AND THE KIT HAD PROBLEMS. ALSO I WAS PLAIN NOT HAPPY WITH THE PICTURE QUALITY AND I CALLED ASKING TO EXCHANGE FOR A CANON EOS 40D BODY AND THEY SAID THAT I WAS TOO LATE FOR THE 2 WEEK RETURN PERIOD. I WAS LATE BY 1 LOUSY WEEK! ANY OTHER STORE WOULD MAKE SURE THAT THE CUSTOMER WAS HAPPY BUT THEY EVEN TOLD BE THE OWNER DOES NOT EVER ANSWER THE PHONE. THE SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE. NEVER DEALING WITH THEM AGAIN.

I have ordered a used lens described as mint. The lens had several scratches on the front glass. Returned the lens, they have refunded only the price of the lens but not shipping and they are not returnng my calls or emails. Once I was able to get trough to their used department and they immediately hung up on me. Very rude. The lens is back on sale on their site with the same description and price. I researched and read a lot of reviews before ordering my refurbished D90 from Cameta. But the price was right and the reviews were good, so I took a chance. The camera came quickly, in time for my daughter's graduation which I wanted to use the D90 for. I was so excited.
Unfortunately, although the camera looked to be in pristine condition, there was a large blue line through the display whenever it was on.
After agonizing (cuz that's my style) I called Cameta and expected to hear excuses and recordings. Instead I got a real live person who was understanding and offered me the option of a refund or an exchange.
I selcted refund and then after an hour or so, I reconsidered and called them back to switch to an exchange.
They were awesome, even making arrangements to send me the exchange in advance so I didn't have to wait. Yes, they'll charge me for a second camera but they'll refund it when they get the first one back.
So they said it would ship second day air and be there Tuesday. They'd send me an email with tracking.
The email never came so I emailed them. I heard from them on a Sunday saying they didn't get the package to shipping in time so they'd ship it Monday and over night it.
The replacement camera arrived on Tuesday as promised and it's fantastic. Pristine condition just like the last one, but with no display issues. I love it!
And it's worth noting that Cameta gets the cameras from Nikon already packaged. They don't check them, they're relying on Nikon. Clearly one just slipped through the cracks.
I couldn't be more surprised about the quality of the service and professionalism I've gotten from Cameta.
They are a quality online retailer!

I purchased a Nikon D40x from Cameta - excellent choice! I got the VR 18-55mm lens. The lens and body looked NEW to me. They were Factory Demo - as CAMETA was very clear about.
This is my first DSLR - but to me, it looks and functions as new. Springs, buttons, caps,etc...all function as new.
Imaging? Unreal. I am learning the manual settings, etc...but couldn't believe what this camera did when using AUTO or Presents.
Cameta SHIPPED FAST (day earlier than expected) and came through on expectation.
THANKS!!!

When I believe a company is worthy of a scathing report, I share my views. So, naturally, when a company is worthy of praise, I share that too. In my many experiences with purchases from Cameta Camera, I have found the company and ALL of it's employee's to be nothing but professional and "top drawer". Their service is outstanding and I would (and have) highly recommended this store to others looking for high-quality items at decent prices, backed by their good word. Case in point. I purchased a Nikon D300 camera from Cameta last year. The transaction went smoothly and I was enjoying the camera when I started having problems with it wanting to shut down at will. I called Cameta, and even though the return date had passed, they requested I return the camera for an exchange. Well, right away, I thought there must be some "catch". I'm thinking, "yeah, sure, they will give me a refurbished camera". So, I explained I didn't want a refurbished camera, I wanted a new replacement. Without blinking an eye, the customer service person assured me it would be a new camera. I returned the camera and I have to say, when I tracked the package, I saw that the exact day Cameta received my camera they sent out the new one. I had my new camera within a couple of days of returning it to them. A brand new replacement, no questions asked! I was (and am) amazed by this company and it's employees. They are honest, hard working people and deserve to be pointed out as such. In today's work environment and the way so many companies try to nickel and dime you to death, this company stands on it's commitment to good customer service at fair prices and in my book...it delivers all of that and more. Thank you Cameta Camera. I am a customer for life. I've got my eye on another camera and will be ordering from you very soon :)

A couple of months ago, I had purchased 3 items from this company from ebay and was satisfied with all aspects of the deal...price, shipping cost, communication, etc.
My camera had or developed a dead pixel.
I returned it and was very promptly sent a new one. No questions, no bs, just apologies and terrific customer service.
They are apparently a well run company in a sea of bad ones these days.
There will no hesitation from me to buy from them again.

i've been scammed hard by brooklyn stores before so i'm quite wary of online sales but i read good reviews here as i do before buying anything online these days, and thought i'd give them a try. i bought a D300 Nikon with an 18-200mm Nikkor lens with a Nikon 2 year extended warranty on the camera, as well as a new coolpix p80 package.
The salesman was not pushy at all and we went around a few times with different configurations of packages to get the lowest price. he asked about warranties which i wanted and even so was not at all pushy about it. very friendly and knowledgeable. just got me what i wanted.
i got confirmation of order, shipping confirmation, and invoice all in a timely manner. camera arrived promptly as ordered, well packed, and new as described.
great experience. great prices, highly recommended. i'd shop there again.

What a pleasant surprise. Like many of you I knew what I wanted yet was amazed by all the hype and across-the-board prices. So I made my way to Amazon and saw the best prices for my needs (Nikon D80, D200, Batt holders, and other items) were at Cameta. I am leary of Ebay anymore so I did some more research, some of it here. I called them and spoke with Enzo. Quite Nikon-savvy and very helpful. I chose on the spot to order from him. He took the order making suggestions along the way. No hype, no pressure. Had everything in stock. As it was a thursday he said the order would go out monday. Friday I got an email from the billing dept that my CC had been denied. I called and spoke again with a real professional. Went to the bank, got a one time release on the daily cap and the lady ran it for me right while I was standing in the bank. Success. She was as pleased as I was. Congratulated me on my purchase and wished me happiness with my new stuff. Can you imagine? Anyway, I guess what I am trying to say is that in this time of govermental ripoff and fluid truths, it is refreshing to do business with a group of professionals that does what it says it is going to do. Owen
Addendum-Monday I got the invoice email. One piece was backordered. Called tuesday and was told the item had come in and was shipped that day free. All but the one piece arrived in two days. The last item will be here today (three days) Nicely done!

As a recent high school graduate, I had asked my parents for a new camera (Nikon D40 actually). They gave me the 'ok' nod and that's when I started doing some research. I looked at various websites for the best deal and at the time, there was this too-good-to-be-true package on eBay. Then my friend suggested to me that a lot of eBay items especially cameras were grey market items. So then I turned to Amazon.com which seemed quite reliable as I had ordered numerous school supplies from there in the past. The Cameta Camera package stood out like a sore thumb! Nikon D40 with an 18-55, 55-200VR, 4GB SDHC card and card reader, a cleaning kit, and a Nikon travel bag. All of this for a only $678 (shipping fee included) I even called CametaCamera the day before I purchased the camera to make sure that the 55-200mm lense was in fact VR. (It was) The person who I talked to was very straightforward and polite. I tracked the progress of the package online every single day. One downfall was that the shipment was delayed by UPS because of fires, but that's UPS's fault not CametaCamera's. My package arrived yesterday and everything that was advertised online was included. Everything was secure and unopened. Everything works fine (so far). I'm very glad that I ordered from Cameta Camera. I would definitely recommend this store to any photographer looking for a new camera or accessories. This review was modified by its author, welmoe, on

Ordered a Nikon D60 DSLR kit package w/ 2 lenses, 18-55 mm AF-S VR, and 55-200 mm AF-S VR, both zoom-nikkor. Also came with Nikon bag, spare battery, SD card reader, image recovery software, and microfiber cleaning cloth.
Very affordable price of $830- considering the body alone goes for $650 in some places.
Cameta shipped the next day- I didnt even request any fancy shipping. I received everything 3 days after I ordered.
Very satisfied. Everything is authentic Nikon products. Also came with some warranties. Everything works great.
