I have similiar experience with veryslick. I ordered D60 outfit and found an uncleanable dust in the 18-55mm lens so I sent it back for inspection. A gentleman called me and told me he can do nothing with the problem but he can replace me a BRAND NEW lens if I purchase 2yrs extended warranty and other items. I agreed the deal and received my "new lens". However when I registered the lens I found the card was filled by someone from Boston. The lens was pre-owned. and pictures took by this lens were not good. I called and emailed to them and finally I am happy I got full refund. Had it was a not filled register card, I'd nerver thought they sent me a pre-owned lens as a BRAND NEW lens. I thought I was just not luck, but now I believe I am not alone.

The original lens returned was not exchanged as there was no problem found. The offer to either courtesy exchange the lens was made or buyer could upgrade to a pro kit with an extended warranty for the camera (which he did not originally purchase) and a brand new lens was made. A brand new lens was shipped to the buyer. Buyer was still unhappy with the sale so a full refund was issued as an accommodation.

I was one of the unlucky ones. Purchased from ebay a Canon XSI kit. I am disappointed that the item was described in auction number 200364923848 as new and never opened/sealed, but I received an open box grey item, with warranty card torn off and missing. There were smudges on the LCD screen. There was also a lot of dust on the sensor which I saw from performing the printout test on white paper. I needed it soon as a present for my kid. Buyer beware, I think they just try and send whatever they have and if nobody complains it is their gain.  
 
this is a response to the seller's response:  
 
I never received any advise on contacting Canon, nor was I given the option to return for a refund, I requested for an exchange which was never processed. Why in the world would a seller keep the portion of the warranty card. As far as I know, warranty cards are to be mailed by the owner to the manufacturer, not kept by the store. BUYER BEWARE!!!!

Item was sold exactly as described. Factory sealed means as it was shipped from the factory/manufacturer. Items are not sold shrink-wrapped as Canon does not package them in that fashion. We advised the buyer he can call Canon to confirm these details. Warranty card was “torn” as the seller must retain the dealer copy of the warranty card for proof of sale for the manufacturer; again this may be confirmed. Buyer was offered a return for a refund of the purchase price as we did not want him to keep something he is not happy with. Buyer chose not to return the equipment.  
 
UPDATE:  
The offer for a return for a refund was provided in the voicemail left for you on 8/15/09. The copy of the warranty card you keep referring to is the "dealer copy" which we must keep as proof of sale for the manufacturer. You can confirm said details with Canon USA directly.

I PURCHASED A NIKON D60 KIT FROM THEM, AND THE KIT HAD PROBLEMS. ALSO I WAS PLAIN NOT HAPPY WITH THE PICTURE QUALITY AND I CALLED ASKING TO EXCHANGE FOR A CANON EOS 40D BODY AND THEY SAID THAT I WAS TOO LATE FOR THE 2 WEEK RETURN PERIOD. I WAS LATE BY 1 LOUSY WEEK! ANY OTHER STORE WOULD MAKE SURE THAT THE CUSTOMER WAS HAPPY BUT THEY EVEN TOLD BE THE OWNER DOES NOT EVER ANSWER THE PHONE. THE SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE. NEVER DEALING WITH THEM AGAIN.

I have ordered a used lens described as mint. The lens had several scratches on the front glass. Returned the lens, they have refunded only the price of the lens but not shipping and they are not returnng my calls or emails. Once I was able to get trough to their used department and they immediately hung up on me. Very rude. The lens is back on sale on their site with the same description and price.

Purchased a Nikon 105mm F/2.8 VR USA w/5 year warranty for them. ($869.00 + shipping) Then they said the lens that was for sale was found damaged when they opened the box from Nikon. Said they notified Nikon for a replacement but it was "Backordered" I waited 4 weeks for a replacement. No information given on when the item was due to arrive. Basically they said, wait indefinitely, or get your money back. This was purchased with a Paypal 8% off coupon, and I don't think they want to honor the coupon through paypal and came up with this excuse. Now a month later they have the same lens for sale on ebay. So it was never damaged or backordered. This place is a scam, another crooked Brooklyn store. Buyer Beware. I should have used B%H or Adorama. They have alot of good reviews because they sell a lot of cheap inexpensive stuff. I am filing a complaint with Nikon too.

At Cameta Camera we strive to keep customers happy. We are sorry you feel that you were not treated properly. You said that we did not want to sell you the lens because we did not want to honor the PAYPAL 8% coupon. PAYPAL, an Ebay company, absorbs the 8% not the seller. The lens in mention was damaged and we will not send out an item that is not 100%. When the item was back in stock, a month later, it was placed on auction again. We would never say "wait indefinitely". We would give you the option of a full refund or to wait until it arrived back in stock.

Sold a lens on eBay with Buy It Now, informed me that they could not ship because "lens was damaged". Wouldn't it have been prudent to check this *before* the auction ? Another was very over-priced. I could have gotten it on Amazon for 50% less. Customer service ladies nice, sales guys are typical arrogrant and ill-mannered New Yorkers. Don't know how to say "Goodbye" after a phone call. They just hang up on you.

Ordered a Pentax K10 kit from Cameta through Amazon. Part of the order did not arrive. Cameta Camera (seller) will not provide any estimate on when the missing item will be available. It's been a month already and when calling twice a week, the only reply I get from unfriendly customer service is "We don't know". Also, they made me miss the submission deadline for $125 Pentax rebate. Avoid at any cost !

If you buy over the Internet, and buy what they have, they're great. I do not however recommend you try a special order from them!  
 
Since I live on LI, Sigma USA, who is also on LI, recommended I go there. I was trying to order a 300 f/4, of which they had -one-. I know I better hurry. So I go there on Saturday, wait 1 hour on the line, and fianlly get to talk to a very affable older retired photographer. I buy all sort of accessories, and give him over $500 down payment for the lens, and 1.4x TC. Then leave.  
 
After going through telephone hell Tuesday, spending 1 hour on the phone and never getting someone to answer, I get my salesman Wednesday. (this pattern of "bad phone" is repeated many times over the next two weeks). I talk to my salesman, and tells me it hasn't been ordered yet. WHAT?! Turns out "the lady who does orders with Sigma does them on Friday"... WHAT?!!! I urge they act as there was only one left. They claim they put the order in that day. Over the next two weeks after the lens doesn't arrive, I learn no, they didn't put the order in that week, and no, Sigma sold that lens to someone else before my order was put in... 6 days after I gave them my deposit.  
 
In the mean time I went through telephone hell countless days. Litterally waiting on hold for upwards of an hours. Several times having the phone picked-up and then hung-up just to drop me!!!  
 
When I was there to get my deposit money back, I witnessed it first hand. The salesman were laughing at the poor sucker on a phone call on hold (a few of them were available but did they help the person sooner? NO), saying "the guy was probably waiting 15 minutes or more -- hahaha" was their attitude. After being that guy several time, I couldn't help say some anagry comment to them as I walked out the door.  
 
That's the LAST time I'll walk out their door. Because I'll never actually walk -in- their door again! (or order by internet or phone regardless) Now I see why they say Berger Brothers bad mouths them ... Well there's good reason IMO! (as they bad-mouth Berger Brothers back. Personally before this, I didn't know about either, so I didn't care. I see now Berger Brothers gets a 10/10 tho, so... )

This seller shipped me a broken item (Hoya 72mm DMC PRO1 Digital Multi-Coated UV) on the first delivery. Within the exchanging process, the price of the same item dropped to $10 less than I paid. Seller refused to returm me the price difference. I am not happy with it. I will buy anything from this seller again.

Won item online - a top of the line Nikon Coolscan 9000ED scanner. Item advertised as MINT. Received item via courier. Opened and installed item. Item was defective. Repacked and returned item at my expense. Received a replacement item. Opened and installed replacement item. Replacement item was defective as well. Repacked and returned replacement item at my expense.  
Correct me if I'm wrong, but do you see a pattern here?

Horrible Store Don't Buy!!! I ordered a $1000 nikon 5000 scanner. It came with NO SOFTWARE OR MANUAL and the company after 4 weeks of e-mails REFUSED TO SEND SOFTWARE OR MANUAL and I cannot operate my scanner!! They were very deceptive and underhanded and wicked uncaring and GREEDY!!

I have won eBay auction number 3870219247 from Cameta (cametaauctions) for a "Demo" Nikon D2H, while checking thru the auction description, I realize that they do not ship to Indonesia; Malaysia or Singapore. Since I have done over 600+ transactions in eBay with only positive feedbacks, so I wrote to them to apologies for not picking up this imposed "constraint" earlier and requested them to give an exception to ship to Singapore where I live. Two days later, I receive an email reply that they will not give exceptions to this policy. Immediately, on the same day I responded to Cametaauctions to ship the camera to my Houston's office and also provided my credit card details for the payment. Again, two days later, I receive an email that they can only ship the camera that is being paid for with a credit card to the billing address and advice me that if I would like my camera shipped to an alternative address, they can only accept payment via 1) Money Order, 2) Certified Bank Check or 3) Someone in U.S. to pay on my behalf. On the same day after I have received the email, I contacted them via long distance call, but was told that the person in charge has left for the day. I have therefore sent another email reply that I will purchase a Money Order in U.S. Dollar to be drawn on a U.S. Bank for the payment. On the same evening my time (where NY is 09:30 hour) I made another long distance call to Cameta and as soon when I explain that I will send a Money Order as per their request, the Customer Service accuse that the Money Order from Singapore will be fake, and insist that the auction/order is cancelled. When I request to speak to her supervisor, I was put on hold for over 10 minutes and subsequently a lady claim to be the manager pick up the call, same answer given by the Customer Service, not offering any solution just claiming that any payment from Singapore will be fake despite I have asked her to check on my feedbacks standing. When I ask to speak to her supervisor, I was told that she will be the highest lever I can approach in Camerta, and her final decision is that my order is cancelled!  
 
In reviewing Cametaauctions auction details, they have only stated that they do not ship to Indonesia, Malaysia or Singapore. As in my case, I have provided them a U.S. address for shipment, I certainly cannot appreciate their allegation that all Money Orders from Singapore will be fake, since I have no problem waiting for them to clear the Money Order with their bank before the shipment! I have bought over 100 cameras in U.S. alone (new, used, direct or auction) over the last few years, certainly have never came across a seller like Cameta!

While I am aware of a long list of positive comments with Cameta Camera, I feel obliged to share with you my own, negative, experience with this merchant:  
 
I have purchased Nikon D1X camera package for $3,999.00. Cameta accepted and deposited my immediate payment few minutes after the purchase.  
However, my new camera was not delivered as promised. It came in 8 days, rather than in 3 days, which I would gladly overlookl. But my camera arrived without Nikon Capture Software code necessary to unlock my 30-day trial version to its permanent status.  
Without this code you cannot download and process high resolution photos nor can you use your camera to its full potential. As a result, your new top-of-the-line piece of expensive equipment becomes - qualitywise - unusable.  
 
I thought to myself: "No problem, one simple phone call to Cameta Camera will solve this misplacement of paperwork"  
 
I was wrong...  
 
For the next 6 months I made many dozens of phone-calls to Cameta personnel. I was given all sort of run-arounds from whoever answered the phone. Even Cameta Camera sold me the camera, they told me they cannot help me.  
Their unwilligness to go out-of-their way to satisfy their clients, and / or to stand behind their product should be known to all potential Cameta Camera customers.  
 
Be aware of dealing with merchants like Cameta Camera who take your money - and run.  
 
Product was sold by C.Ratto, then I dealt with Leah, Sherri, and "Gerry". Many didn't tell me their name; many times I was put on hold till I had to hung up due to the lenght of waiting on across-the-country long distance call (..paid for by me..).  
 
Consequently, I had to use my own resources to obtain a copy of this software.  
 
Being in business myself, I do everything possible to satisfy my clients. I expect the same from others, especially if 4K purchase is involved.  
 
In case of Cameta Camera - it was only a matter of one simple phone call to Nikon, few city blocks away from the store, to clear the confussion.  
 
Even this simple task - Cameta Camera failed.  
 
I feel necessary to share this negative experience with others to prevent this from happenning again.

On the net prices are close so the distinguishing aspect is now customer service. I ordered a Canon 30D. Specified 2day ship so I would have it before 12/31 & 01/01 shoots. Called on 24th to add a grip for another body and reduction in price on the 30D grip based on their net price. This was before shipment. No email on the 26th confirming shipment. Asked why on the 27th call to them. C/S said any additions delay shiping by a day. I said no one told me! They said it is company policy. So I had to pay $31.00 more for next day to meet my deadline (which I mentioned several times during the previous conversations process).  
So I resorted to asking in last conversation..."Are there any more gotchas...tell me NOW!!!"  
Shouldn't have to resort to that line of questioning if you are listened to the first time.  
I would buy from them again but I would make very sure to have them repeat to me when I said I need it by and why so that it is firmly in their mind and they can they mention to me any detailed gotchas I need to consider.

I ordered from CametaCamera on eBay. My order arrived in due time, but the items weren't correct. They sent off-brand items instead of the name brand items that I ordered.  
 
I call Cameta via landline and was placed on hold for over an hour. The emails I sent went unaswered. I also sent a buyer message through eBay, it also went unanswered.  
 
Finally, I had to use PayPal's resolution service to force Cameta to take action. PayPal took the case, allowed a refund provided I send the items back. I sent the items back via FedX and sent PayPal a tracking number as requested.  
 
Thankfully I used PayPal for my payment, otherwise I would be out of $72. The "fine print" on their invoice says they offer no refunds.  
 
Be careful.
