I have ordered Raymond Weil RW Sport Men's Watch #8620-ST-20001. I have received a open box item but their website claims they sell brand new watches, which is kind of cheating. I had a talk with the representative of Ashford.com and they asked me to mail back the watch and they promised me that they will send new watch. Today ie., 09/14/09 - to my surprise I have received another open box item. I haven't tested how it works.. But I am so dissatisfied with the purchase.

I have had a very frustrating and disappointing experience, to say the least, with Ashford. I purchased a watch through Ashford in early January 2009. It took about one week to arrive. The watch slowed then stopped about one week ago. The label on the back of the watch's battery cover indicated that a new battery was needed for the watch in February 2010. Therefore, I was quite confident that something was wrong with the watch and the watch stopping was not a battery issue.  
 
I called Ashford about 10 days ago and was advised that I could have the watch's battery replaced by my local jeweler, submit the bill and be reimbursed by Ashford. My other option was to send the watch to Ashford for a battery replacement. I initially requested that they send me a UPS label to return the watch to them (as I just had surgery and couldn't get to a jeweler or post office).  
 
After thinking the matter over that night, I emailed Ashford that evening indicating that I was confident that because the manufacturer's label stated a battery replacement was needed in one year, February 2010, that there had to be something (other than the battery) wrong with the watch. I requested a watch replacement. Ashford was adamant that it was a battery issue. They advised me to send the watch to them for a battery change. There were several emails back and forth to this effect but they would not budge in their position.  
 
At this point, I was quite leary of Ashford because of their lack of customer service and willingness to stand behind a virtually new product. I became quite concerned that the watch might even be counterfeit. Why wouldn't they stand behind their product if I just bought it?  
 
Based on these suspicions, I contacted Ebel, the manufacturer of the watch, in New Jersey. It was then that I discovered that Ashford sold grey market items and this watch was one of them. The representative from Ebel indicated that only authorized sellers can replace the battery correctly as there is a seal inside the watch which protects the battery and the mechanisms inside the watch.  
 
Ebel advised me that their new battery should last 24 to 36 months and that their battery labels are quite accurate when placed on the watch. Moreover, the seller was required to test the battery before sending it. The representative strongly advised me to send the watch to them for a battery change service. The charge would be $70. Ebel would inspect the watch and its inside and replace the battery. They would also make sure the watch is in excellent working condition (as I advised them it was only a month old). If Ebel opened the watch and found to be a counterfeit, Ebel would send it back to me without replacing the battery.  
 
I requested that Ashford reimburse me for this battery change service from Ebel. They refuse. I pointed out to them that their own customer service representative offered to have me go and replace the battery on my own initially! Still, they continue to refuse to reimburse me if I have the watch's battery changed by an outside source, let alone the manufacturer.  
 
Luckily, I made this purchase using my American Express. American Express confirmed that they would refund my purchase price if Ebel finds the watch to be a counterfeit.  
 
I am extremely angry at Ashford. I have been extremely upfront and quite nice in my emails to them but their last email this afternoon 'took the cake'. They stated that they will not reimburse me if I sent the watch to an "...outside authorized repair centers at such a rip off price". The only company that is a rip-off is Ashford. Kudos to American Express for standing behind a loyal customer.

Ashford saved me when eBags screwed me. I had ordered from eBags and they said shipping...shipping...shipping...OOPS we don't have your bloody item, it is backordered.  
 
Well I needed this item in THREE DAYS. So, I found a nice one (not as nice, but good enough) at Ashford. This is a hard-to-find item. Not many places sell Jewelry rolls that are classy, but not silk and not made for four year olds. They got it to me in 3 days. I was pleased.

I've used Ashford about 4 times in 2005. I've never had a problem with them, and their prices have been good. I mainly used them for a little over 1K in Jewlery, but the Jewelry actually came from Diamond.com who has great quality as far as internet jewelers go. I've dealt with their customer service trying the get a correct ring size and they were excellent. very friendly and helpful, and even upgraded shipping for no charge. I haven't used them since, mainly because they no longer use Diamond.com, but have partnered with ice.com. I also felt as time went on the quality and selection of their products started going downhill. My brother purchased a 2K+ Breitling watch from them a few years back and he has had no problems at all. All in all, Ashford has been pretty good to me.

Ordered an item that was in stock. Several days later was told the order was cancelled because it's out of stock. This company repeatedly misstates their inventory just to entice potential customers to place orders.

Placed an order for a coach wallet. Many people mentioned that Ashford just cancels orders for seemingly good deals. Two days later I get a cancellation email stating that the the order is cancelled because its no longer in stock. Worst part is that they still list it on their website as being available and in stock. They either do this on purpose to attract customers with deals they can never fulfill or they plain out have a horrendous system with cluless people on the other end. What a waste of time. Thats the last time I ever tried to order from them.

I purchased a jewelry roll as a Christmas gift. What happened was another site (at the last minute) cancelled my order...so I had to find another jewelry roll that would ship by Christmas FAST.  
 
I found Ashford. The prices seemed reasonable and the item I was ordering was discounted...with express shipping at only $5.95.  
 
I ordered it from a Kathy. The item arrived when it was suppose to and everything was fine...then my credit card bill came. They overcharged me by $9.00  
 
So I called customer service. At first they tried telling me the charge was legit...that it was extra because of the 5.95 shipping. I then went to the web page and it still showed the item on sale...so even after adding 5.95 to the item - it was still a 9.00 overcharge. Moreso, my actual invoice (that I thankfully kept) reflected to correct charge. So keep your receipt.

stay away....I bought a Seiko ladies watch for my 1 yr anv, the watch came on time, but clearly was an either used or display model, the band was nicely polished, but POLISHED, with tiny scratched they were trying to hide! how @#$@# up...if I wanted a used watch i couldve gone to marshalls or some..never will even look at their site again...

I have tried to purchase a Burberry Scarf several times from Ashford, the same Burberry scarf that they advertise constantly on msn.com. This is ALWAYS backordered, they never tell you until at least 48 hours after it is to have shipped, then on the day they promise you it is coming in - - it is backordered yet again.  
 
I have had to cancel this order several times (I've tried to buy it for various people), not one time has Ashford been able to deliver. The excuses they give are fake and change daily (sometimes more), the customer service dept is a joke. One actually told me that she didn't have a sewing machine to make one, so wasn't sure what help she would be...nice, huh?  
 
I will never buy (or attempt to buy here, since delivery never happens) again. They are one of the poorest excuses for an on-line retailer there is.

Rude Company. Cancel customer's order at will without any notice before hand.  
Also, there are a lot of false information on their item lists. Ordered a watch clearly listed as date-calendar included but arrived as none. They claim a watch with swiss quartz movement to be 30 jewels. I wonder how could it happen to a quartz movement.  
 
Another company called sportsauthority.com looks like their sister store with identical ordering system and web style. They aslo cancelled two of my christmas orders in the same manner. One of the order is placed without any discount. I don't know why they can said the item is out of stock since they are still listed as in stock on their site even by the time they cancelled my orders.

THIS SITE FALSE ADVERTISES MERCHANDISE-BUYER BEWARE  
I ordered a pair of sunglasses that were 50% off. They were shown as in stock at the time of the order. I received an e-mail that they were out of stock, and would be shipped as soon as they were in stock. Which was fine, I was not in a hurry.  
Later that evening I received an e-mail that cancelled my order, because they could not fulfill it.  
The sunglasses are not discontinued so why couldn't they just ship them when they ordered more.  
Well, I think you know the answer to that. They didn't want to give everyone the 50% deal.  
I won't order from Ashford.com again, and I suggest you do the same.
