I was one of the unlucky ones. They sent me a VCR (refurbished) that was defective. It didn't play anything and had a strong cigarette smell. The VCR came in a plain light brown box (not original) with a clear plastic bag and plastic bubble wrapping around it. Condition looked like it had been returned many times with lots of scratches at the bottom. I'm pretty sure they could test the VCR out before sending it out. Does it make sense to receive something that works the first time? Is it worth the back and forth game? I found placing the order and returning the defective VCR at my own expense was really a waste of my time and money (I walked 12 blocks to the post office just to pay $9.55 for shipping).

Another confused reviewer; so many negative reviews. I've been buying from them for several years and always been satisfied; last year I bought a widescreen LCD monitor from them (a refurb) which had a flickering problem. Contacted CS and they sent a replacement and a prepaid UPS shipping sticker for the defective unit. New unit had two dead pixels (barely noticeable). When I contacted them about it, they apologized but said that that was the last refurb in stock and offered to accept item for a full refund or credit me with $25 off next order (and I needed a new inkjet, so that worked out smashingly). Though their markdowns are misleading (based on original price, not current market), if you do your homework before buying you can find some great deals, and I've found the company to be polite and helpful.

I contacted (emailed) Overstock.com before the purchase due to the poor overall ratings. They answered promptly (by email) and assured me that the product was OEM/New/Sealed in box.  
 
I purchased 2 of these.  
 
The product came quickly and was as stated. The boxes were a little worn - seemed to be due to storage and handling which did not surprise me since these cameras have not been manufactured for several years so these would have to be surplus.  
I would not hesitate to purchase another camera of the same type from this seller.  
 
NOTE: I read many of the complaints against Overstock.com and the majority seemed to be that they did not read the agreements and other related pages one should read before making a purchase.  
Their email is as stated in the reviews though... they do feel very generic and script prompted.  
The other suggestion I would make is to use PayPal to make online purchases when you can since you have some help available from them or the credit card company if you have a problem.

POOR Service - Overstock took my money then canceled the order.  
 
I am still waiting on a refund.  
 

Canceled my $39 order because I had a $37 coupon. That's ridiculous, I'll never shop with them again. Still haven't received a refund yet!!

Ordered a Logitech speaker set from overstock.com, during checkout a discount was deducted from the total. Overstock cancelled the order saying the discount does not apply to this order.

I received my order just as described with no problems, i didn't go for the faster shipping because I'm still waiting for one of the lenses from Cameta Camera ... no problems for me dealing w/ overstock.com ...

Stay away. This is not an online merchant. It is a loosely formed association of hucksters. I bought some Motorola H700 headsets from them. Both came from different "partners". Neither was new stock. One was two years old and the other was one not certified for use in the US. The chargers that came with them were cheap imported knockoffs, not OEM.

Absolutely awful. I had to contact the BBB in order to get a resolution for my problem, as the CS had no interest in helping me.  
 
I ordered a bed from them which I carefully assembled, yet it was clear that it was poor quality. Their king size bed couldn't support my 130 pounds without cracking and falling apart!! It started breaking on day 1. When I contacted Overstock about it, they told me they would only accept a return for their shoddy merchandise if I paid return shipping AND a restocking fee!  
 
I spent almost 2 weeks arguing with customer service and getting unhelpful form letters from them. Finally the BBB contacted them about my complaint and they completely changed their tune, letting me return it for a full refund. They would have been happy to screw me over if not for the BBB!!  
 
Bottom line: They might be ok for smaller items, but don't take the chance on something you can't afford to lose the money on.

I ordered 3 items from the O and received 2 of them promptly. As I was waiting for my final item to arrive (the tracking sheet they sent me indicated the item had been shipped a week ago), I received a package from them and upon opening it I found that it was a set of sheets for another customer.  
 
I immediately assumed there was a mix up with mailing labels and contacted an associate (hereafter referred to as “asso”) from Overstock.com through their “live chat” feature. Well, that was an exercise in futility. Asso was dull-witted, unperceptive and ignorant. He failed to make any connection between my having received someone else’s order and my missing order.  
 
Asso told me my shipment was expected on April 25th (which would be 10 days after the item had been shipped!) and that they would send me a return prepaid UPS label for the set of sheets I had been shipped. What? I have to return them? Bummer. “So, is UPS going to come pick them up?” I asked Asso. “No, UPS does not pick the item up.” replied Asso. “But wait,” I exclaimed, “I can’t get to a shipping center!”  
 
At this point I was beginning to seethe. I mean, come on, I don’t work for these douche bags and they expect me to go out of my way to ship a wrong order back to them? “Duuh,” replied Asso, “please wait 3-5 minutes while I look into this.” The chat at this point has already taken about 15 minutes of my time (Asso is a VERY s-l-o-w typer and it took him a long time to research my missing order). I was fully expecting him to come back and tell me to just keep the sheets.  
 
Well, no such thing. He comes back to tell me that they will arrange for UPS to pick the item up from me. Gee, thanks for that! It was packaged in a flimsy white “bag” that I had to destroy to open, so now I have to repackage it. I’m going to put it in the largest box I can find and fill it with those annoying peanuts! Ha!  
 
But seriously, I was highly frustrated with the lack of concern and knowledge shown by the associate. The “chat” took entirely too long because he knew nothing. By the time it was over it had taken up a half hour of my time. I won’t waste my time with Overstock.com again.

I purchased the Bryant King-size Bed from Overstock. It arrived 5 days after I placed the order, which is pretty good. The bed was shipped in two boxes and the instructions were easy to follow. It looks great and is very strong/well made. I highly recommend this product.

This was just our latest order. Have used them many times before.  
 
Always shipped items quickly and gave notification and tracking information.  
 
Had the best prices for the items we have purchased and will definitly continue using their service.

I've always been very happy with my orders from Overstock.com. Great shipping prices also.
