I was one of the unlucky ones. They sent me a VCR (refurbished) that was defective. It didn't play anything and had a strong cigarette smell. The VCR came in a plain light brown box (not original) with a clear plastic bag and plastic bubble wrapping around it. Condition looked like it had been returned many times with lots of scratches at the bottom. I'm pretty sure they could test the VCR out before sending it out. Does it make sense to receive something that works the first time? Is it worth the back and forth game? I found placing the order and returning the defective VCR at my own expense was really a waste of my time and money (I walked 12 blocks to the post office just to pay $9.55 for shipping).

Canceled my $39 order because I had a $37 coupon. That's ridiculous, I'll never shop with them again. Still haven't received a refund yet!!

Ordered a Logitech speaker set from overstock.com, during checkout a discount was deducted from the total. Overstock cancelled the order saying the discount does not apply to this order.

Stay away. This is not an online merchant. It is a loosely formed association of hucksters. I bought some Motorola H700 headsets from them. Both came from different "partners". Neither was new stock. One was two years old and the other was one not certified for use in the US. The chargers that came with them were cheap imported knockoffs, not OEM.

Wish I had read the reports here first but I had purchased from overstock before, but never needed to return anything.....and this is where the problems are......I received a card reader that was so poorly made a SD card did not fit into the reader without plenty of difficulty....I am now in the process of tryint to return the item......Overstock does all it can to make this impossible......they send Emails that seem to say that a rep will contact me but so far no contact.
I tried their live chat, same thing, they are hoping I will forget about the problem.....well I will not and I will spread the word about my experience.
As I said I did purchase from them before ,but never again.

Ordered a TomTom GPS case on 11/9; got email stating it shipped on 11/10. On 11/23 after realizing that it had been quite awhile since getting the notification of shipment. (I'd place SIX orders with other websites after this and had received them ALL.) Their online representative got on the line and told me that the package was on time and that no tracking info would be available until it was delivered, even though I could see that the product was in the USPS system IN MY CITY since 11/13. The rep advised me that this was normal and that based on their shipping information I should receive the pkg on 11/26. I was dissatisfied but said I would wait. No pkg on the 26, 27, 28, or 29 so I contacted them again. After giving the rep my name address and order number he had me hold for 2 mins after introducing himself (I had to ask him was he there). He then asked me for the VERY information I'd given him. I asked him did he NOT see that I gave all that already?! He apologized and asked me how he could help. After putting me on hold for 6 mins (with my consent this time) he came back and told me that a Supervisor was placing a track on the package. Luckily the package came the next day, which ended my dealings with Overstock.com. Never again, nor would I recommend them to anyone, regardless of price.

I bought three Mercury Living Presence Compact disks from them. Information concerning my order status was scant. Eventually, everything arrived in good condition.
I'll buy from Amazon next time because they have superior order tracking.

Purchased without issues. Later I found better prices on three of the items, so I tried to apply the Best Price Guarantee Policy that Overstock.com promotes. I quickly found out that their policy is fraudulent, a joke and flawed:
1) They reject sites where the disputed item is on sale, which makes no sense since Overstock.com also has their stuff on sale, and should be willing to price match other sites that have items on sale, too.
2) They reject sites that offer free shipping. So many sites out there offer free shipping if you purchase more than a specific amount, and Overstock.com rejects all of them.
3) They say they can only price match if it's done within 5 days of purchase. The problem is that it takes them a whole business day to reply to your request, and if you have issues and reply back, they take another business day. This can go for a while, and by the time you realize that their policy makes no sense and try to submit another site to price match, they won't accept it since it's been over 5 days. It wouldn't have passed 5 days if they have a phone number for Best Price Guarantee, which they dont. It's all done through email.
Overstock.com's Best Price Guarantee policy is a ploy to deceive customers and pull them in. Don't count on it at all.
First time and last I am purchasing from Overstock.com, no wonder they have such low ratings. This review was modified by its author, saint0, on

I have ordered countless times from Overstock.com over the past few years. I was a once loyal customer, but now have to admit that ordering on the site is not worth the $1 or $2 per order that you save compared to a better site like Newegg or Amazon. Overstock.com is generally rather slow with fulfilling your order, and I've been frustrated numerous times with their service. They also are very sloppy with their listing and inventory and have canceled my orders by mistake, without asking me. Their service is pretty bad on the whole. The chat support option is intolerable; a chat representative will be chatting with about 4 customers at a time while he tries to help you, causing much delay in the whole process. It's much easier to email support, and response times here are decent, though I've been very frustrated with the system due to representatives' unwillingness to do anything besides answer questions I didn't ask and waste my time, all while following very simple scripts. Telephone support is decent, but I once had a wait time of an hour before I was connected to someone. Shop elsewhere.

I've preordered a video game one week prior to its release, because overstock has by far the cheapest price offered.
On its release day, I didn't get any email regarding my shipment status, so I logged into my account at overstock.com to see for myself. To me surprise, it's out of stock! I talked to an online associate and asked her why it's out of stock and when my order will be shipped. She didn't give me a definite answer but to tell me she would forward my inquiry to a sale representative to get back to me by phone or email once it's in stock again.
I am very disappointed in the way they operate their business. If they knew a particular product was going to be in short supply, they should not have charged my credit card. They should have sent me an email notifying me instead and asked me for my further decision on my order.
At this point I have no idea when my order will be delivered. I thought I could count on overstock.com, but I guess I was wrong. I will think again if I want to do business with them in the future.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!
I have bought several things from Overstock in past years but something has changed. I purchased some cordless controllers for my kids and they only shipped part of the order. For almost a month I have been trying to get them to correct the order and all they can do is make failed promises that some one will call be back in 2 business days.
I now chat with them every other day and always get the same promise from the same script. At least now they say someone will call me within 1 business day (I feel special since I have been fast tracked from the standard 2 business days).
I have been told this on 7 separate occasions and have yet to have someone contact me or address the problem.
This place is whack spend your money on other sites

I ordered a Microsoft Wireless Wheel for the Xbox 360 from then since it was about $25 cheaper than the closest competitor. According to their website, the item was in stock and would ship in 2-3 business days. A week later and no word of the item being shipped. Called customer support who didn't have a clue as to what was going on. It's like they were reading my order status off the website, which I'm able to do myself. Another week passed without shipment. When I called to cancel, they told me that they couldn't cancel since the order had been sent to the warehouse. How annoying! Finally, they admitted that they didn't have the product in stock and didn't know when they were going to actually receive them. So they cancel my order for me after I've wasted 2 weeks of my time to save $25. No offer for a concession coupon or anything. Just a "We can't predict when our supplier will have the item." Perhaps they shouldn't have an item listed as ready to ship if they don't have it. I used to order from them years ago without an issue. Things have definitely gone downhill since then.

Terrible! If I had read the reviews here I never would have bought from them. I purchased an item on Saturday only to find it on sale at Circuit city the next day for $20 less. I contacted overstock.com to cancel the order and was informed that they could do nothing to stop the order. Their process for asking for price matching is much more difficult than driving to circuit city to pick the item.
I am dealing with Amex to dispute the charge and will never buy from them again.
