I have been purchasing computers from KC since 1997: for my work, for my friends and family members, for myself. This most recent purchase was made in December of 2006.  
 
 
I am very picky about what is inside my computer, as I want to have good performance, high reliability, and all that at a moderate cost.  
 
What makes me coming back to KC? I am very experienced in putting computers together, but I value KC's service and support.  
1. He is helpful when choosing the computer configuration.  
2. He is flexible about the choice of the components, and is ready to buy components from 3rd parties, if he cannot find one himself.  
3. He is great at providing support. He responds via e-mail very fast - even in late pm EST. He patiently walks you through diagnostics over the phone.  
4. Once the problem has been diagnosed, he ships replacement parts very quickly, providing advance replacement.  
5. In one (rare and unfortunate) case of misunderstanding, Kevin was very good at finding a satisfactory practical solution even though it costed him extra.  
The prices he charges are reasonable but not the lowest. You can easily buy all the components from different places, and assemble the computer yourself. However, you save your time and energy, while getting a reliable, tested system.  
And, what is even more important, once you have problems, #3 and #4 above are extremely valuable, and it makes it worth the extra cost you paid upfront.  
 
I hadn't have much of problems with all previous computers, but during the failures of several different components in the current computer during 2007, I experienced exceptionally wonderful service.  
 
A few additional support-related comments:  
KC does not offer on-site support (I am not sure about NY). So, if you need that, you'd have to struggle with Dell and alike.  
KC does his best to diagnose the problem remotely, so that the system doesn't get shipped back and force. The diagnostics steps are done at your level (e.g. even if you are a newbie, he'll walk you through). If you are not afraid of it too much, - KC is the right vendor.  
 
I highly recommend KC-computers to anybody who is looking for a custom-built computer at a reasonable price and with a great remote support and service.  

This was the first time I had someone else build a PC for me. After read many reviews from Resellerratings.com and comparing other companies I decided on KC Computers. After customizing a pc online, I called and talked to Kevin about a few different parts that weren't on the list. He was very informative and didn't have any problems using different items. Constant emails informing me of updates from build time to shipping notices. I ordered on a friday and received it on the next Wednesday. Packaging was very good, had included all the original boxes for every part in the pc (motherboard, video, cpu, ect..). I got an Intel e8400 3g cpu, XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 cpu cooler, Asus P5K motherboard, 2g G.Skill PC6400, nVidia 9600gt video. They overclocked it to 4g with no problem.  
 
Only two minor problems were that the hard drive had fallen down from the rack which I just slid it back in the cage. And the video card only had 1 DVI port and Kevin had no problem exchanging it out. Sending me the new one 1st, and I just send back the original after I receive the new one.  
 
I would recommend anyone looking for a custom build to KC Computers!

Another exemplary experience with KC... my system was configured just as I wanted, machine was clean, packed and shipped flawlessly, and it is running so smoothly that it was no trouble to further customize the tower with things I had here waiting. Any questions, just email them for advice or help, swift and responsive, always!

KC so far has a crazy level of service, 10pm EST emails? That's just nuts, considering he closes at 5pm EST.  
 
I called KC due to the rating he has here got on resellerratings.com and so far he hasn't dissapointed.  
 
I will keep everyone posted once I actually get the PC, but I can say with 99.9% confindence that I won't have buyers remoarse

I am very happy with my overall experience with KC computers. I was looking for a new computer for gaming. Kevin was very responsive with questions and concerns I had over email. The computer arrived in good shape except for the HD being loose in the case. I slide the HD back in the bay and everything was fine. I would like to say that I pick KC Computers because of the ratings at this site and everything I read about the company in the reviews was spot on. Thank you KC Computers and ResellerRatings!

In the past I've purchased computers for personal or for work through Dell and other similar vendors. This was my first purchase through a custom builder. I would purchase from KC-Computers.com again without any hesitation. Communication with KC via email was a pleasure and their responses were very quick. Even some odd hours emails I sent not expecting an answer until the following business day were answered in short order. Exceptional (and crazy) level of service. When I ask KC for some suggestions about the configuration they didn't try to up-sell me a bunch of stuff I didn't need, they just made some very reasonable suggestions, which I'm happy I followed. Promised delivery time meet. The unit came well packed with all the goodies left over from the motherboard, sound, and video cards in the box. I had to swap out the sound card to get a feature I wanted and KC handled this immediately. Best of all the PC is smooth and smoking fast and it didn't arrive loaded up with bloat/trial ware. Great buying experience and I can recommend KC 100%.

This company is great! Kevin stays in contact with you via the phone and internet during the whole process of your purchase...from deciding what you want in terms of use and hardware, how long it will take to assemble and test, the progress on the assembly, any problems and corrections made during testing, the shipping of the computer, and finally after it has been received. Prices are cheaper than the big "name brand" computer sellers...and it is made to how you want it and guaranteed to work. Will do business with this company again when I need to make another computer type purchase of any sort!

Let me tell you my story. I was looking to have a custom made computer so I sent out multiple emails to various builders, of all the suppliers online. KC Computers is the only one to respond in a timely manner and follow up to my email. For over two weeks Kevin and I discussed what was the right system for me at what budget.  
Kevin at KC has been very supportive and knowing in helping me put together the system that will meet my needs and be able to upgrade to future advanced components for years to come.  
These people are very professional and take pride in what they sell along with a price from what I have seen is great for what you get.  
If you are looking to have a system built KC is for you.

KC Computers is great! Seriously, if you have any doubts about this company, send Kevin an email, and you'll how great the customer service is. Like many other people who have posted reviews, I emailed back and forth with Kevin for over a week before I ordered. He gives great advice, and doesn't try to up sell.  
 
I received my computer quickly and it worked perfect right out of the box. I could not be more satisfied with my experience with KC Computers, and I highly recommend them.

The reason I gave Kevin @ KC Computer my business was Resellerratings & many other recommendations in computer related forums. Also, that I wanted "exact" components for my build. No issues there. Anything you want & Kevin will build it for you!  
 
Service is an understatement! When I 1st requested pricing from Kevin it was on a NFL Playoff weekend. Received a reply e-mail within 30 minutes! I guess Kevin is too busy taking care of his customers to be a hardcore NFL fan!  
 
In regards to KC Computer prices, it's pretty solid. As another poster mentioned, you are paying for Kevin's time to build your new rig! You can save money & do it yourself, but it's not "that" much more. I like letting Kevin build it & know that I can call him down the road with any issues & not wait forever for someone to pick-up the phone or reply to an e-mail.  
 
My system was a tad tricky. I had Kevin install a dual-boot operating system (Vista 64 & XP) Guess what? All Windows updates were done, MB BIOS was up-to-date & it booted right up the first time!  
 
There are plenty of shady computer makers on the web looking to "cut corners" were they can to maximize profits. Not the case with KC! You get the parts you want & have Kevin back-it up down the road.  
 
If you're looking for a class company & need a computer built, then look no further, KC Computers is the answer.

Prior To Finding KC Computers:  
 
I researched all the major players, Digital Storm, Velocity Micro, ABS, Cyberpower, Widow PC, Vigor Gaming, etc. Although some may have had lower prices than KC Computers or may have had flashier websites, in the end the personal attention I received before the sale, the clean slate with the Better Business Bureau and the hundreds of satisfied reviews here at ResellerRatings made the decision easy.  
 
Configuration Process:  
 
I must have sent Kevin dozens of emails with questions and asking feedback and he patiently and expertly answered each question promptly and honestly without trying to up sell me on any components I did not actually need. He was always courteous and he even answer emails late into the night or early into the morning.  
 
Ordering Process:  
 
It was quick and easy online. Ordered what I wanted. Added notes about things that I would like added, such as extra case fans and the overclocked versions of the video cards I wanted. Promptly got an invoice in my email and also Kevin emailed me to confirm the extra charges for the extra things that I wanted.  
 
Build Process:  
 
Kevin was pretty good about keeping me posted as the KC Computers was building my new system. He emailed me with any questions, such as if I wanted the hard drives partitioned and whatnot. He kept me posted about components being out of stock. And he was more than happy to provide status updates, regardless of how many times I asked.  
 
Shipping Process:  
 
My order was shipped and not only did I get confirmation emails via UPS, Kevin made sure to send me an email with the tracking numbers as well. Hopefully, I will be receiving the computer tomorrow (2/12/08) and will be able to update this rating based on actually getting to put the computer through its paces.  
 
Hands On With Computer:  
 
Well, got my computer today (2/12/08) and it is really sweet. Booted up like a champ right out of the box. I am very impressed and will definitely continue to do business with KC Computers!

This place is great! Kevin was very patient, and was very knowledgeable in helping me select parts for my computer. His email responses were quick and useful. There was no pressure to buy, and he had no problem waiting for me to choose parts, or to wait for a new part that was coming out soon. He even helped me narrow down an issue with my computer over email!  
 
Once I place my order, he kept in constant contact during the build to let me know the status of the build, out-of-stock components, etc. Unlike other money grabbing businesses, he didn't charge my credit card until the end (there was a hold on the account from the beginning, but I understand that).  
 
When I received it, it was securely packed with all of the boxes and manuals. It boot up on the second try (a SATA power cable had come loose during shipping). It's been running fast and stable since!  
 
Bottom line: great place! It may not be as cheap as other online parts stores, but you get knowledgeable input, a quality built system, and excellent communication. It beats any name brand out there! I'll update if I ever request post-sale support.
