I have been purchasing computers from KC since 1997: for my work, for my friends and family members, for myself. This most recent purchase was made in December of 2006.  
 
 
I am very picky about what is inside my computer, as I want to have good performance, high reliability, and all that at a moderate cost.  
 
What makes me coming back to KC? I am very experienced in putting computers together, but I value KC's service and support.  
1. He is helpful when choosing the computer configuration.  
2. He is flexible about the choice of the components, and is ready to buy components from 3rd parties, if he cannot find one himself.  
3. He is great at providing support. He responds via e-mail very fast - even in late pm EST. He patiently walks you through diagnostics over the phone.  
4. Once the problem has been diagnosed, he ships replacement parts very quickly, providing advance replacement.  
5. In one (rare and unfortunate) case of misunderstanding, Kevin was very good at finding a satisfactory practical solution even though it costed him extra.  
The prices he charges are reasonable but not the lowest. You can easily buy all the components from different places, and assemble the computer yourself. However, you save your time and energy, while getting a reliable, tested system.  
And, what is even more important, once you have problems, #3 and #4 above are extremely valuable, and it makes it worth the extra cost you paid upfront.  
 
I hadn't have much of problems with all previous computers, but during the failures of several different components in the current computer during 2007, I experienced exceptionally wonderful service.  
 
A few additional support-related comments:  
KC does not offer on-site support (I am not sure about NY). So, if you need that, you'd have to struggle with Dell and alike.  
KC does his best to diagnose the problem remotely, so that the system doesn't get shipped back and force. The diagnostics steps are done at your level (e.g. even if you are a newbie, he'll walk you through). If you are not afraid of it too much, - KC is the right vendor.  
 
I highly recommend KC-computers to anybody who is looking for a custom-built computer at a reasonable price and with a great remote support and service.  

Prior To Finding KC Computers:  
 
I researched all the major players, Digital Storm, Velocity Micro, ABS, Cyberpower, Widow PC, Vigor Gaming, etc. Although some may have had lower prices than KC Computers or may have had flashier websites, in the end the personal attention I received before the sale, the clean slate with the Better Business Bureau and the hundreds of satisfied reviews here at ResellerRatings made the decision easy.  
 
Configuration Process:  
 
I must have sent Kevin dozens of emails with questions and asking feedback and he patiently and expertly answered each question promptly and honestly without trying to up sell me on any components I did not actually need. He was always courteous and he even answer emails late into the night or early into the morning.  
 
Ordering Process:  
 
It was quick and easy online. Ordered what I wanted. Added notes about things that I would like added, such as extra case fans and the overclocked versions of the video cards I wanted. Promptly got an invoice in my email and also Kevin emailed me to confirm the extra charges for the extra things that I wanted.  
 
Build Process:  
 
Kevin was pretty good about keeping me posted as the KC Computers was building my new system. He emailed me with any questions, such as if I wanted the hard drives partitioned and whatnot. He kept me posted about components being out of stock. And he was more than happy to provide status updates, regardless of how many times I asked.  
 
Shipping Process:  
 
My order was shipped and not only did I get confirmation emails via UPS, Kevin made sure to send me an email with the tracking numbers as well. Hopefully, I will be receiving the computer tomorrow (2/12/08) and will be able to update this rating based on actually getting to put the computer through its paces.  
 
Hands On With Computer:  
 
Well, got my computer today (2/12/08) and it is really sweet. Booted up like a champ right out of the box. I am very impressed and will definitely continue to do business with KC Computers!

I got exactly what I want for a very fair price. Kevin responds to e-mails very quickly; 7 days a week and I even got responses at 1:30 am!! He never pressured me to buy anything I didn't need and actually told me I was spending more than I needed! He helped me buy exactly what I needed and tried to get me the best deal possible.  
 
This purchase of a new computer went absolutely perfect and better than planned. He was very patient, quick, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful.  
 
You'd have to be crazy to get a computer from anywhere but KC Computers! I give it two thumbs up, five stars, an A++++, and a 10/10.

I recently bought a new computer from KC Computers. I had been a dedicated Dell consumer for many years. My recent experiences with Dell, though, lead me to look elsewhere for a reputable computer company.  
 
I corresponded with KC for many weeks before purchasing. I sent countless e-mail. Response time was exceptionally fast. And customer service is unparalleled in my experience. I don't believe KC's flexibility and range of products and configurations can be found elsewhere. I think this truly is a one of a kind company.

You may find lower prices elsewhere, but the prices include free assembly and the buying experience was perfect. Owner Kevin Chalker will interact with you personally, and suggest alternative components meeting your machine requirements and budget constraints. I have been a Dell customer for many years, but my next computer will be from kc-computers.

I had first contacted Kevin about a new computer in June..We must have had over 100 e-mails, as each time i had more questions. Early July we zeroed in on what would suit my needs and budget. I found a system i wanted built, but then Kevin told me the prices would drop on some of the AMD systems at the end of July. Finally he e-mailed me with the new products and the lower prices. After another 50 or so questions (he answered ALL in a very timely manner!)I placed my order. Everything arrived Aug 15, 2006. The building took about 6 days, then another week until everything arrived. It was packed extremely well. Nothing could move in any box!! I was leery about having shipped vs. just buying off the shelves. Got everything set up in no time, again had questions and Kevin quickly answerd them. He is very professional, and honest. I still had a few questions thursday which were very quickly answered. I would definitely purchase from him again. The slight difference in prices (higher), is worth it for the support and the quality. He could have talked me into spending another $500-$700.00 but he gave me options and also an explanation on why it was not necessary to purchase certain levels of hardware. Thanks Kevin!!

I have used kc computers numerous times and I am always very happy with their service. They have good prices, and they will assemble and test their stuff for you before they send it off.  
 
I would recommend them to anyone.

Very good experience. Not quite as cheap as I could find buying pieces from multiple places on the web, but basically the same as the cheapest builder on the web and far, far superior to them. Willing to work to build a very custom configuration and to test it well. Very, very good communication. I'm buying another machine from them, a much more expensive server without any hesitation.

How refreshing it is to deal with an in-ststes company represented by a REAL person! In addition, that person is a knowledgable, attentive advisor for the buyer. These folks won't encourage you to over-buy: you get what you need and they help you find out what that is! Ordering was painless, paying was painless, shipping was painless! All services were effecient and carefully administered. I might also say that they carefully follow-up on your purchase.  
 
Overall, I had an excellent experience with KC Computers and would recommend them without reservation to my friends and family members, as well as all other interested parties.

Excellent place to do business. Technical support excellent. Emails answered promptly. Packaging for shipment excellent. Included extras to help me install the rest of my gear. I will use KC again and recommend them to my friends.

I've always been a Dell fan but was getting frustrated this time because they didn't offer exactly what I was looking for. I started searching around the internet for the elusive company that would let me pick exactly what I wanted, and also provide good customer service. Eventually found KC and liked what I saw. I must admit I was nervous because I browsed reviews and couldn't find a bad one. Hmmm... something fishy going on here. No one is that good. Well, no harm in getting a quote...  
 
I sent an email around 11 pm on a Saturday night explaining what I was looking for. Then got up Sunday morning and went straight to the computer feeling devious... "if this company's so great they'll have a response for me by now"... and they did. It was the first of numerous emails I exchanged with them. Responses were always prompt and extremely helpful.  
 
I ended up ordering from KC. Got the system on time on a Friday afternoon. Set it up the next day and couldn't get anything to appear on my monitor. Sent an email with my symptoms, and got a response back within about an hour (yes, on a Saturday) that I should try re-seating my vid card as it probably worked its way loose in shipment. Bingo. That did it. And my system has worked great ever since. It's been about 4 months now, and I couldn't be happier with it.  
 
I highly recommend KC. The prices are higher than if I'd bought the pieces on my own, but having KC build it for me, give recommendations, test everything out, and provide fantastic support, was well worth it.

KC has been around for many years = first miracle.  
They are NOT the cheapest hardware source but they only carry QUALITY hardware which is the cheapest in the long run.  
Service after the sale could not be any better !  
Knowledgeable and FAST.  
I rate them top notch = EXCELLENT  

KC computers, simply put, is the BEST company I have ever purchased a computer from. I don’t think I have ever had a more pleasant buying experience. I’ve bought two computers from them so far, the first one for my father, and now this recent one for myself. Kevin and his staff were always patient, courteous and informative in their responses to my seemingly endless stream of questions. I’ve received responses to my e-mails within minutes of pressing the send button. They even have a 1 yr advance replacement policy on most items, so if something breaks they will replace it even before you send back the broken part. Fortunately I have yet to ever use this service but its nice to know it’s there in case I ever need it. KC Computers is the only computer company that I can recommend to friends or family without any reservations.

This was my second purchase from KC Computers, and as with the first this purcase was flawless! The note book is great, the help of Kevin with configuring my needs was great, he did not try and oversell me which makes the purchase price of the components better spent. I alwas recomend KC to anyone looking to purchase who aren't stuck on the "big name companys". My first purchase from KC was in 1999, being a PII 400, and that machine is still working as good as the day I got it! I highly recomend buying a PC from KC Computers!!!
