I heard about Puget from a photography forum I visit while searching around for recommendations on a new system to work smoothly with Adobe CS4 and Lightroom 2.x. I quickly found that none of the major PC manufacturers could put together a machine with my desired specs and still leave me room for some growth. After configuring PCs on three separate sites catering to custom configurations I found Puget to have just about the best price and an overwhelming positive amount of feedback from previous customers. I highly suggest communicating with their staff during the early stages as they helped me stay within budget by making suggestions on my configuration. I had put together a more expensive machine on my own and the support staff actually said, hey, this will work for you as good as this and it'll save you $xxx.xx dollars...as opposed to...hey, for another $xx.xx more you could have this. I ended up placing an order on the 14th of November and my machine arrived yesterday, 11/25. As others have noted, Puget has super communication on your build thru their website where you can easily track the build progress and determine shipping and arrival dates. PC arrived safely, double boxed and includes great documentation and software, and soon was connected and fired on after I opened up the case and validated all my ordered components were there. Only "problem" I had was that my DVD-RW ATA interface cable was either not plugged in from the warehouse or had come out during shipping so it took me a second to diagnose why the drive wasn't showing up. Everything else seems in working order, but if turns out there are other issues I presume to have just as favorable an interaction with Puget staff as I did during the ordering process. Bottomline - I had a positive experience and would use them again and recommend them to someone looking for a well built machine and good customer service.

I have always built my own systems, but for a number of reasons I decided to have Puget build me a system. In today's world it is so incredibly (yes incredibly) refreshing to see such professionalism and attention to detail. Each and every component was installed neatly, and the packaging was over the top. From the moment I started placing the order until I received the system I felt like I was special to Puget Systems. This was a wonderful experience and I tell everyone about Puget Systems. I am a programmer so my system has to be rock solid reliable and this one has not skipped a beat since I have had it.
The website is excellent. Not just for building a systems but for all kinds of advice on what hardware to choose and why.
I couldn't be happier and I look forward to doing business with them again.

Sincerely,
Bob

These folks saved me from a lot of trouble, gave my desktop PC new life, and will now be my "go-to" source for any future desktop needs! I just wish I had found them 2 years ago. As a home user with one PC, my 2 year old motherboard from another vendor died and I was in over my head to get it back up and running. Except for the dead motherboard, I had pretty good components from the other vendor and a limited budget to start over. I did not have the time, energy, testing tools, nor expertise to choose another motherboard and migrate all my gear to it hassle free. All the staff I met and dealt with at PCC were very helpful and professional. They confirmed my problem and agreed the best solution was to use most of what I had on an Asus P5Q-E that would accommodate my components and meet my budget. Their choice matched the limited research I was doing at that time as well. They also identified 2 fans that were wearing out that I had no reference point as to what sound should be normal. Now I have a machine that is much more quite - and energy efficient, too! A bonus to me as a customer with just an OEM recovery disk was that the new chipset required a fresh install of the operating system. PCC did a nice clean install, tested everything, and kept me abreast of every step by phone or e-mail. I really felt pampered and cared for, even though the original was not their build. Their website account feedback pages seem to promise more than deliver for a non-build repair customer, but the continual phone calls and e-mails certainly make up for it. From our communications, I have no doubt they covered every testing and quality review step listed on their website. Everything inside my case is spaced away from other components as best as possible and the cables are all wrapped and tucked away. They worked with me to come in on budget and the turn around time was just 3 days after giving the go ahead. It is like getting a brand new PC! I finally feel like I am getting what I'd always wanted from a desktop and I owe it to PCC's care and service. Thank you PCC!!

My purchase experience from Puget Custom Computers went smoothly. Prior to placing the order I had only a few questions and they were answered by e-mail promptly.

The build phase started immediately after placing the order with status updates available on their website. Through these updates I learned that they had problems with their current inventory of the memory chips I choose. Within three days the new memory was being tested in my machine. Dealing with little glitches like this is why I choose to have an experienced outfit do the build instead of doing it on my own - I've done enough of that in the past and time is money.

The computer arrived in perfect physical condition and in working order and configured as I requested. The packaging for shipping is impressive and a deep rip on the top of the outside carton did not get near the computer - An A+ on the packaging.

The hardware was put together well, everything is tight, neat, scratch free and worked instantly after power on. I am very happy I decided on the Antec P182 case - very quiet. This review is being written one day after receiving the computer so no extensive testing has been done, but thus far everything is working well.

Bottom line: I would buy from Puget again!

The puget computer I ordered looks excellent and seems to work well. The only problem noted is that the instruction manual does not resemble the computer chassis.

This was my first purchase from Puget Systems, and I had a great experience. Although I only ordered a motherboard, an inspection of their website confirms they use quality components in their builds. Website is easy to use, and the interface fosters a 'community' of reviews.

I did have a question before and after ordering, and in both instances the responses were fast and friendly.

So not only did I get the best price on the net for my Skulltrail motherboard, but it also arrived very quickly.

Were I not building my own system, I would probably consider them to buid one for me.

Ordered 10-13-08 and order was shipped on 10-17-08. Customer service was great --very patient in working through different options to meet my specific needs. Nothing bad to say about Puget Systems so far, and assuming my computer works well and that there are no problems (I'll update the review after I receive it), I'll wholeheartedly recommend them to friends and coworkers who are as frustrated as I was with Dell and HP's nonexistent customer service and Velocity Micro's quality control problems.

11-05-08 Update: I received the computer from UPS on the promised delivery date. Took it out of the box about a week later, hooked it up, no sound. Called Puget, got through very quickly to a live person in Tech Support, and he gave me several suggestions to try to fix the problem (I wasn't at home when I called, so I wasn't in front of the computer). Got home, tried the suggested fix, and everything was fine (it turned out to be a default sound setting in Windows). Great customer service (HP would have told me to wait until I got home, which is exactly what they've done in the past). Very impressed by Puget, definitely worth the extra money, and no reservations at all about recommending them to anyone who asks.

Okay, so let me get this straight... I contact a well known company (won't tell you the name - but it has four letters that end in ".ell") to order a high performance machine... it takes them a week to get it to me, and then the machine makes strange noises... I contact this company - and one thing leads to another - and their "repairs" end up with the machine bluescreening about 15 times over the course of two days. They replaced it with another machine that was worse. If ONLY I had contacted PugetSystems in the first place! - I'm working on a time sensitive project and just don't have the time to deal with machines being shipped from wherever, talking to support people on other continents, explaining the SAME problem time and again before they try to fix it and only make the machine worse.
Plan B - no - C... I contact a small outfit here in Washington State and talk to a fellow and explain the situation. He and I discuss it a bit in email, then on Monday- we confirmed what what I wanted, and on Wednesday the box was at my door. 3 days versus several weeks.
The machine is almost completely silent.
It took 10 minutes from opening the box to getting it on the net (the .ell took over an hour - and had to be re-imaged to make it do even that). The kicker with those .ell machines was my simple, but unbelievably frustrated question to a support representative at the end of all of my contact with them: "Are you telling me that .ell cannot provide me with a machine that works?" "No sir." I've talked to their executive staff - and gotten nowhere. I order this machine from Puget Systems - it's assembled, it's tested (TESTED!) I get a notebook showing me what tests were run and how it did compared to other configurations - the machine shows up with a convenient name and username - and... it's just mind boggling... It... Just... Worked...
With the machine came a box of nuts and bolts and things that I *might* need (leftover assembly parts) - a binder with the machine's specs and support numbers for each of the individual components, the assembly and testing procedures and who signed off on it - there was absolutely zero question that this machine had been taken care of from the first moment it was worked on.
The only advertising I ever heard from these people was a short late night program on the radio many months ago. Gad. If I could climb onto the roof to shout their names from that rooftop I'd do it. Save yourself the headache. Ignore the "dude, you're getting a .ell" - order from Puget Systems and get a real machine.

My experience with Puget was quite positive. I consulted with them by phone/email and stressed that I wanted a very quiet system. A nightmare experience with another vendor made me wary, but after advising on options, CPU, etc., I placed the order. The ship time was a little longer than promised due to an out-of-stock RAM, but they substituted a high quality part at no charge. The unit arrived safely.
The performance was amazing. The unit has 4 fans, but they are large and run at low speed, making the system indeed worthy of the often abused word "quiet"! The system operates well, no bloatware, and is very cleanly built and solid. I've had a few small issues related to software/driver but they do not appear to be related to Puget. My only reservation with Puget is that their response time to emails/cust support is a bit slow. Usually takes 1 day to get a response which might be hard for some people. I have not tried direct phone support however for comparison. Puget delivers on their promise to build high-quality custom systems that operate well. They are a refreshing change to the big vendors. And the component quality is fantastic -something they track on their site with comments from Puget and others. They also have help Forums on their site, which operates well and tracks order from start to finish. I'd recommend this company for anyone wanting a good system. Price is of course a bit higher, but at least there is value there.
Update: 11-7-2008: Puget went out of their way to keep me happy by refunding the full cost of the Microsoft wireless keyboard/mouse I ordered and was not satisfied with. Normally they charge re-stock fee, but made an exception. Puget really works to keep their customers happy and the system is great! Quietest computer I've owned..

This is my 8th computer, 2nd custom build, easily my favorite machine. I waited several weeks before posting my review to make sure I had a nice stable system.
- Puget customer service will make you wish all other companies were this good. They are honest, direct, prompt, and really want to have happy customers!
- I started online by selecting componets for my computer. The last item on their page is to have one of their techs review the system. In the notes section, I asked for a super quiet machine that was fast for video editing. I also wanted room to expand as I already had tons of hard drives that I wanted to add to the machine. Note, when building the system on your own, each component that you select has individual builder reviews that shows both the good and bad of the individual parts (I loved their comments!)
- The Puget team responded quickly with comments and we began an e-mail dialog that helped me narrow down my choices. After several e-mails back and forth exchanging opinions, I asked them to begin building. And wow! An obsesive team got to work building.
- Via Puget's website, I was able to read about each step of the process...including the parts that didn't work and had to be re-ordered, or re-installed!
- They take good care of the system. When they shipped it, it was a huge box with massive corner pads, in a box with massive corner pads. The cables inside were neatly tucked away and hotglued in place. It was a very tidy, quiet, beautiful computer. It is more quiet than my laptops!
- I loaded it up with 5 additional hard drives and it still stays quiet.
- I would buy from Puget again for my next machine. This is an Intel 2.4GHz Quad Core with 2GB and WinXP...No bloatware, no extra junk. No pressure to "upgrade" to Vista. Just a nice clean, fast OS. Nice Mobo. Nice everything.
- Thanks Puget!

Excellent communication and guidance from staff throughout the custom configuration process to ensure the computer was exactly as I wanted. I'm a perfectionist who wants all the details before purchasing. Puget delivered a high-quality product that runs extremely quietly and effectively as described. I appreciated the quality control and testing process that I could follow throughout production. These people are pros who didn't try to under- or over-sell me! Thanks!
