Puget Custom Computers are a cut above the rest! I have had the computer only a month and it works great but the way they handled the order was superb! They seem to care and want to build a good product. All the testing is reassuring and hopefully, down the road, very worthwhile. I would recommend this company to anyone in need of a good computer. There may be cheaper systems out there but not worth your money. Puget seems to be worth every dollar spent!!

I was a little hesitant to order from a company that I had no experience with. But I received many recommendations from members on the Digital Photography Review website that I decided to call Puget Systems. I spoke with Jeff Stubbers and he was most helpful in the design of my new desktop. We changed the specs a few times but all in all it was a great experience. From the time I gave the go ahead to the time my new system arrived was 6 business days. With me being on the East Coast (NJ) that was just great. Once I received the system and started to use it it is everything that the DPR folks said it would be and more. It is extremely quiet and very fast. It is well constructed and it looks like all of the folks at Puget Systems took their time and put a lot of pride into their work and my new Desktop. I would strongly recommend that you consider and order from them the next time you need a new desktop.

I recently purchased a custom-built (relatively high-end) liquid-cooled workstation from Puget Systems. Before pulling the trigger on the purchase, I must have spent a month doing research and configuring different machines on different vendors' websites.

William at Puget noticed that I had saved a configuration on their website during my research period and inquired if I had any questions. A few weeks later, William and I had worked out the proper specs on my machine given my desired applications and he even went out of his way to find the best value in terms of various configurations that made more economic sense based on what the end result would be.

In the end, through comparison shopping, it seemed as though I would have spent as much at other reputable places as I ended up spending at Puget, but without the personalized service, quick delivery, and comfort from trusting the warranty that I found at Puget. And while I could have possibly spent about 1.5k less at disreputable places, I didn't want the potential hassle of having to fight with customer service about refunds and returns.

All in all, I'm quite happy with my experience at Puget and wouldn't hesitate to do business with them again in the future.

I bought an expensive Puget custom built computer, expecting to have something great that I would enjoy and use for years. The computer I got is just average performance with two part failures and two serious system crashes. Attempts to improve the system with my service-plan-paid-for customer service resulted in zero improvement. Two broken parts replacement events have been Alice in Wonderland experiences - unclear and contradictory information, unanswered phone calls, unreturned voice messages, extreme delivery delays, multiple email messages and all sorts of reasons offered. These have been journeys into chaos. All I wanted were working parts!

Thank you for your honest feedback. While we will continue to do our best to serve your needs, I wanted to provide some perspective to the readers here.

The average performance cited is due to an extreme number of USB peripherals, and due to running programs over network based storage. We encouraged Sarah to try running without the peripherals, and with her files on a local hard drive -- she should see significant performance improvement.

Of the two problems cited, the first failure was a noisy video card fan, due to dust in the computer. It was working correctly, but was making a noise. We replaced the entire video card at no cost, with FedEx Express Saver, shipped the same day the problem was determined.

The second failure was broken front ports on her chassis -- physical damage due to a cable being pulled accidentally. Though not technically covered by warranty, we happily replaced it at no cost. That replacement unfortunately was delayed by Antec for a few weeks. We did everything in our power to make Antec as responsive as possible.

Sarah, I'm very sorry that you have been dissatisfied with our company. While I stand behind what we've provided to you, I am always reading the feedback our customers provide, and we'll do our best to meet your expectations in the future!

First, please forgive that this post is long, however, I don’t think I can do the topic justice if abbreviated too much.

I had a perfectly good computer but came into some money and since it was burning a hole in my pocket and I wanted to advance my 3D modeling hobby I took the plunge and shopped for a high-end computer system. I was familiar with Puget Custom Computers from the web and using their on-line configuration program went whole hog. I had picked Puget Custom Computers because of their reputation of quality and good service. After toying around for several days I submitted the configuration and was immediately contacted by their sales staff. Over the next few days we fine tuned the system, sometimes adding items and, to their credit, sometimes nicely doing a reality check on my appetite. Being a computer novice I asked a lot of silly questions but Puget Custom Computers answered all my questions politely and didn’t make me feel ignorant.

Once the order was placed two of the items were identified as not in stock. One, the speakers, was substituted with a different model which turned out to be better suited for my purposes. The other, a 30” monitor was placed on back order. Instead of a lot of promises as to availability, the sales staff actually offered to delete the monitor from the order allowing me to pick one up locally. I was able to follow the build on-line and although it seemed to take forever it actually was only a couple of days. During the build I had a lot of “nervous” questions (did I mention this was a very expensive machine?) and the sales staff was very patient with me. After the build was completed they even sent me photographs of “my baby.” Their delivery tracking system was very impressive, allowing me to follow the system from pick up at Puget Custom Computers to when it was placed on the delivery truck locally.

Finally the big day arrived and my system was delivered. I was impressed with the packing and the extras they provided including a notebook on my computer filled with all sorts of useful information. It wasn’t long before the computer was unpacked and hooked up. I pressed the power button and watched as the bios ran and advised that no drives could be found and that the operating system could not be loaded. In an untypical fashion I didn’t panic, figuring that it was likely a loose connection somewhere, and I called Puget Custom Computer support. I reached the technical staff immediately (which is unheard of these days) and was walked through opening the computer and checking connections. Soon the problem was identified, a cracked carapace on the top SATA port. Then I heard the phrase that I had been dreading, “you will have to return the computer for repairs.” Disappointment doesn’t come close to describing my feelings. I had spent a lot of money (five figures) and now was imaging weeks of waiting for a system I no longer had faith in.

To their credit Puget Custom Computers went into overdrive to get the problem resolved. I was contacted by customer service by email and phone and they arranged for a return delivery the very same day. The repairs, no small matter of replacing the motherboard on a liquid cooled system, were done the next day and the system tested that night. The repaired (I hesitate to call it repaired since for all practical purposes it was still a brand new computer) was shipped out the following day and delivered the next day. Total solution time for a very serious problem was three and a half days. I can not imagine a quicker resolution for such a major problem. As important, Puget Custom Computers understood the disappointment and crash of faith I had when the computer failed to work. Not only did they do a superior job on repairing the computer, they were friendly, understanding and supportive in repairing my faith in their company and on-line shopping in general. I felt that I wasn’t dealing with a corporation, but actual human beings.

My experience with Puget Custom Computers was both the best of worlds and worst of worlds. Spending the amount I did and not getting perfection the first time out is a hard pill to swallow. Having experienced Puget Custom Computers’ outstanding service and support and quickly getting the computer of my dreams running like a charm was a joy that, to be honest, out shines my initial disappointment. The measure of a company’s worth is not only in their product, but what they do when the product fails. Puget Custom Computers not only passed that test, but performed at a world class level in that area.

Desktop (floortop, really) computer built to specifications:
Good advice on components and case to get the performance desired. Also good advice and execution on unusual arrangement of removable drives.

Component and build quality obviously much better than large brand computers as well as locally custom built computers I've bought in the past.

Exceptionally good communications, although no problems so no followup has been necessary after receiving the equipment. Nonetheless, very glad they remain available indefinitely to support their computers with real people.

I am amending my initial review after 8 more months of ownership of a Puget Systems computer and additional interactions with Puget Systems staff, including the company president. I believe structural issues affecting the quality of service I received early in the year have been corrected. Two additional technical problems I encountered ("user" issues, not system defects) were handled promptly and professionally. I would at this time be willing to buy another computer from Puget Systems.
4/07
I’ve allowed 4 months to elapse since receiving my Puget Systems desktop computer in order to provide an accurate review. I resolved years ago after a miserable customer service experience with Dell computer that I would never buy a corporate-made system again, at least never a Dell. Puget Systems and the small number of other independent fabricators deserve praise and support for persevering in their production of personalized systems in the face of withering competition from corporate manufacturers. I had high expectations from Puget Systems. They had a more business-like focus and more configuration options than makers of gaming computers (e.g. Falcon NW, Black Widow) I also queried. Production and delivery were punctual but the system arrived non-operational. Puget made a genuine effort to have it repaired at my home, but shipment back to Puget was eventually required. My feeling toward Puget is neutral on that early incident. Subsequent customer service has been disappointing. The system has had a few small but annoying problems that I have requested Puget’s support team to address. Sometimes they respond (to emails and phone calls), sometimes not. Within the past month I set up a phone support session with a technician and took time off work to be at home to receive his call. He did not call; he was not available when I called looking for him. He did not respond to an email I sent asking him what happened to my appointment. That’s unacceptable. I hoped to buy a Puget Systems computer for my father but held off pending resolution of this problem. Last week I bought my father a Dell.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback here. I have looked into the support incident you mentioned, and have confirmed that our tech dropped the ball. While a family emergency made it perfectly understandable that he was not available, we should have had a backup in place to make sure your support appointment was not dependent on him alone. I know your time is valuable, and I apologize that we did not fulfill our scheduled tech support phone call. I have taken this opportunity to implement a change to our support department procedures that will help eliminate mistakes like this. I want you to know you can count on us in the future to give you the support you need, when you need it.

I never make a major computer purchase without checking Resellerratings. It always saves me lots of grief. My not so old computer has been acting strange and was not Vista worthy.I checked out Dell, Gateway,Alienware, and Velocity Micro.Dell had a rating of 3.88 out of 10, Gateway 3.33, Alienware 6 and Velocity an 8. From past experience you cannot please everyone and therefore a 7 or 8 is respectable. While on the Velocity page I read a review where the not so happy writer said the next computer he buys will be a Puget. (WHO) I typed the name on Reseller and lo and behold the company had a 10 rating, and not one negative review. Why would I buy a computer from anyone else.I went on their web site and configured a very nice computer with all the toys. I called the Sales Manager Richard Millard. He tried to save me money by telling me what I did not need. I explained that I want a Bentley to take me to the mall and not a Chevy. Together we worked on a computer that made me happy. I have been holding back on this review so that I could get to know my computer and check to see how support would handle any problems or questions.
Get this. The phone is answered on two rings you then speak to someone in American English and they know their stuff. The entire experience was "WOW"
They were so nice I expected to be invited to dinner. Go to their web site Pugetsystems.com and you will be in the best of places.
I date back to the APPLE II in 1980 and this computer has no equal. It arrived on time and packed very well. The quiet man now has a quiet machine.
Thanks to all the great people.

I have purchased computers from the big name manufacuturers, a boutique store and I have built two from the ground up myself. I received (or rather picked up as they are local for me) my new Puget Custom Computer a week ago. This has been one of the most pleasant major purchase processes I have ever been through. From my initial contact, through to the final purchase, Chris and Richard were both remarkably responsive and helpful. Even when I submitted my final order, and there was a question on the final total, John stepped right in and clarified the issue. (Note that the error was due to a misunderstanding on MY part!).

Their website configuration system is simply excellent, and the ability to track the progress of the actual build of the computer is a shining example of their dedication to rapid and responsive customer service.

I would not necessarily recommend Puget Computers two the completee newbie computer user as some technical knowledge is helpful in configuring your purchase and while the final delivery package is replete with original disks and manuals, basic "How To's" for the novice are sparse. Nevertheless, these guys are a solid 10 out of 10 and I would not hesitate to make another purchase or recommend them to a friend or colleague. Outstaning job, team!

I just got my new computer from Puget and all I can say is WOW! I unplugged my old computer, plugged in the Puget, pressed the power button and I was greeted by the best silence I had ever heard. It was working, but the Puget team did such a good job with cooling, I can't hear anything from the case! Everything is in working order, and I can't wait to really test this computer and graphics card. Before Puget, I had ordered from CyberPower. I came to resellerratings, and, to my horror, saw CyberPower's ratings. I quickly canceled my order and searched for a better, more reliable company and that is what I got in Puget.

I bought a complete PC system from Puget. I was skeptical at first, because Puget isn't a member of the Better Business Bureau, but they do have a good record with the BBB. I was also leery of buying from them as they are located in Washington and I am in Alabama. I found a lot of reviews here at ResellerRatings for them and after looking at many other boutique pc sellers and Dell, decided to go with Puget.

My main computer gave up the ghost about 6 weeks ago, but it took me that long to decide what I wanted and to choose the place to buy.

Puget doesn't push $$$ parts. In fact, the first system I submitted with my budget stated, they suggested a system that cost less than I configured but was still within my budget. It was then that I realized that I might be able to trust Puget on a high-end system.

I looked *everywhere*. Many of the other places have bad records with the Better Business Bureau.

Jon was very helpful answering my emails quickly. He left messages on my voice mail, at my request, when I was on a trip. I was able to add/change a few things two days after submitting my order. Jon and his staff make purchasing from Puget a pleasurable experience.

Puget offers a wide range of computer parts to choose from. Also, on their site they have information about the parts. You can choose a system from their specifications or custom build your own or a combination of both.

I got my order today and am very pleased. I highly recommend Puget Custom Computers. I will definitely buy from them again. They make shopping for a computer a most pleasurable experience.

Like most people who are reviewing ratings for computer builders, I was concerned about buying from a "mystery" company. And perversely, after reading the glowing reports, I felt even more skeptical, wondering whether the whole thing was a set-up. I wanted to read good things about Puget but worried the reports were too good to believe. I am SO GLAD I took a chance and trusted the reviews. I found every positive comment to be completely true. For my own order of a high end gaming computer, the build was impecible, the choice and variety of parts better than any other site I found, the prices were more than fair and reasonable, and the customer service was superior.

I feel so strongly about the quality of my experience with Puget that I am trying to convince you, total strangers to me, to believe me. With most builders, the customer gets a choice of processor, video card, memory and hard drive size, and that's about it. Puget lets you customize everything from the choice of case, to the number and size of the fans and heat sinks, to anything else you might desire. They do not stock a large inventory, which I think is good because you get only the newest version of whatever you request. Despite the fact they do not maintain a large stock, they really did get my parts and complete the build within a week.

In summary, despite all of my suspicions and skepticism about buying, sight unseen, from a company on the other coast from me, Puget exceeded my wildest dreams. If you chose Puget too, I can not imagine you feeling any less happy with Puget's work. Puget, thank you!

Puget Custom Computers rates AAAA++++ in my opinion. They are definitely on my list of preferred vendors for future purchases.

I knew what I wanted the system to do, and I knew just enough about the components to make reasonable selections. They worked with my tweaking of the componenet list where they especially checked for conflicts and compatibility, until I placed my order. I even received 2 no cost upgrades because of part availability. I was also able to request several of the latest components on the market that were not in the standard parts list. These guys are happy to work with you to provide you with a truly custom built system.

Puget Custom Computers even supplies a full range of benchmark tests on the specific system in the documentation package. I was shocked at how well my system benchmarks. It's more of a workstation, but can hold its own against the gamers. Tech apps is where is really shines, and that's my primary use for it.

The price was not only competitive, but I feel it ws a genuine bargin compared to many of the other makers, especially given the custom nature of the system.

A couple of minor issues arose resulting from shipping. Tech support was quick and informative, and I was able to effect the corrections myself from their instructions.

I would recommend this company to anyone who seeks more than an of the shelf system with a couple of upgrades.

After some initial disappointment when our new computer was apparently damaged in shipping, we now have a functional machine that we are pleased with. The return was easy, and repairs were accomplished quickly. As for ordering from Puget, their website made it very easy to compare components and design the computer that met our requirements.
