I live in California but everytime I search for electronics I end up with New York stores. I ordered an a/v receiver from them for home theater. It arrived in 3 days and was a good price. Highly recommend.

I was looking to buy a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 and Vann's had the lowest price of anywhere I looked.

(Well, actually I had found one other place that had a lower price, but after reading the customer reviews back through the year 2005 I decided not to go with them because no one was happy with them, everyone complained about being baited and switched, etc.)

I placed my order over the phone and the lady who took my order was very nice, courteous and helpful. My camera arrived this afternoon (17 July 2008) and it was in perfect condition. It was all packaged in it's original packaging, nothing was missing or scratched, and everything seems to be in perfect order. I am currently charging my battery so that I can start using and enjoying my new camera!

I was worried about ordering from them at first since I hadn't heard of Vann's before, but I had such a pleasant experience with them, that I would not hesitate to place an order with them again in the future, and I would definitely recommend them to others who are looking for quality, value, and service.

Purchased a 50" Panasonic Plasma from Vanns at the suggestion of many of the AVS forum members. The unit arrived with a screen issue which couldn't be resolved and was immediately reported.
Vanns of Montana fully covered all expenses regarding shipping both ways the return and the new replacement. The new pannie arrived yesterday so the whole process took less then a week. It was as smooth and painless as possible in what could easily have been a very stressful situation. I'd rank them at the very top in customer service..Montana friendliness.

They do not honor their published prices, but tried to sell the same item to me for $700 more! SCAMMERS...AVOID. They confirmed the order (Panasonic TH-50PZ750U) and price and gave an expected delivery date. Then, three days after that, I get an email claiming it was a pricing error and that they were willing to sell it to me at their cost, $700 higher and exactly what Circuit City was selling it for a couple weeks ago (do they buy from Circuit City?). I will be filing complaints with THEIR state attorney general and MY state attorney general. Hopefully, they'll be out of business so nobody else will even have to see what their rating is (was). They act like a NYC camera store.

DO NOT REWARD THESE PEOPLE. PLEASE. We wanted to spend $3000. We got overcharged, lied to, called crooks, liars, and hackers. They then admitted knowing it was their fault all along and still wanted to do business. I think not. Supporting such behavior just invites more of the same.

This was an awful experience. Myself and 2 friends (both RN's, I am a pilot) were looking to by 3 HDTVs. Doing research in advance of Black Friday I ran into a Vann's online offer for a Panasonic PT-56LCZ70 for $999 including free shipping. My friends were reluctant to buy from an outfit they did not know but they ordered on my recommendation. I told them of a year earlier ordering a camera from Vann's and getting sent the wrong one. When notified they offered to re-ship immediately without waiting for the return. Impressed, I felt good recommending Vann's to friends. Even ones about to spend $1k each.

Then the misery. I went to order and the website kept trying to charge $150 shipping. Free shipping, right? It WOULD allow me to specify in-store pickup for the $999 and I did not want to miss out/ run out of stock. So, before ordering, I left a voice message of what I was going to do (order in-store pickup, straighten it out when they got in). I ordered, emailed them the same explanation now including order number, and then re-voice messaged immediately this time with the order number. Friend2 did the same thing. Friend3 could not get into the website. She called the next morning and ordered it no problem with free shipping. Shipped next day.

I called 2 days later just to be sure and was told I was on hold because the website was wrong and free shipping was not supposed to be on this item but another. I protested and mentioned that I had now missed Black Friday sales. She checked with a Laura or Linda and she gave me the OK. Hmmm. I told Friend2 she better call too. 4-5 hours later my phone rings and I am on a 3-way call with Friend2 and "Mike", from Vann's.

Mike was special. First, he tells me there WAS NO offer of free shipping. I tell him I have screenshots (I always do this, finally paid off).

Second; he tells me my friend's account has been flagged by their "anti-fraud unit" because they can tell she was trying to "hack" their site. I ask him if he is accusing her of attempted theft of some sort and also lying to cover it up. He says yes. Third, when I then give him my order info (so that he can see my supposedly fine order and that she was simply doing the same thing), he looks at mine and says it is still on hold because I am a hacker too. Oh, my gosh. Read Kafka?

Fourth, when I ask to talk to a supervisor, Mike says he “one of the Owners.” Lets be clear; the intended implication was that he owned a half or a fifth of the company. Turns out EVERY Vann's employee has at least a one-bazillionth ownership share. Partially so they can ALL tell this lie? Very cute. Anyway....

Mike-The-Owner(MTO) maintains we are hackers (attempted thieves). I ask him to check "Linda" that she approved my free shipping. He does so right then and she confirms it (yea Linda). MTO says he will remove the hold on mine, but since Friend2 did not get a Linda-pass (instead getting Mike on the phone), she has to pay $150 shipping. After much unhappiness and unpleasant accusations, he comes down to $100 shipping and Friend2, fatigued, beaten down, and wanting to get off the phone very, very badly, agrees. Was supposed to be a fun Christmas thing and now it’s just ugly.

HERE IS THE PUNCH LINE: Still on the phone while tidying up details, Mike-The-Owner has some sort of post-bout adrenalin crash and starts running at the mouth. Trying to explain how Friend3’s order went so smoothly (ordered by phone, order-taker not read the memo); he tells the story of how at Vann’s everything over $400 usually has free shipping, but 3 items (including ours) were supposed to be the exceptions over Thanksgiving. But the web-guys mistakenly stopped free-shipping on ALL items. An attempt to fix this remotely put free shipping back on. But this included our item too, unintentionally. So, yes they did it, yes they knew it all along. No mystery, no hacking or fraud. No lying.

HOLY %*$#!! I point out to MIKE that, since he/they KNEW ALL ALONG what happened, his accusations of hacking-lying-thievery were in themselves just lies? We are trying to spend $3k, you make a mistake and, fully knowing this, decide to call customers thieves and crooks? You make a knowingly false accusation of a cyber-crime and include hinted threats of "turning it in?" And no sense of shame? Not a bit.

After a day thinking it over, we just couldn't keep it down. We checked if either one had shipped. They had not and we just canceled our orders. Rewarding behavior like that invites more. Everyone has to do their part and writing this review is mine.

One last thing: This was very embarrassing for me. I recommended Vann’s to two friends and we ended up with a very sour experience. Personally; I was called a liar and cheat. I am neither. Nor am I well prepared to have to sit there and just take it….. Not to sound like a jerk (here goes anyway); but I am a 6’2” 240lbs ex Div1 college wrestler. Though a puppy inside, I don’t have these problems in person. I hear about them but I don’t have them. My world is nice that way and it is easy to be easy-going. Then this Mike has me wanting to reach through the phone thinking full-body origami. We are supposed to be better than that, yes?, and afterwards I felt… what, unclean? Who pays you back for that?

Thank you for your time.

Bought a Panasonic FZ18 from Vanns via Amazon. Vanns had made an error in their price on the camera which was in my favor and they honored the lower price. They are good to their word and I give the thumbs up to Vanns. I would not hesitate to buy from them again. Thanks, Vanns.

Never heard of Vann's before I saw a mention on Panasonic Talk (dpreview.com) that Vann's, through Amazon, was offering a Panasonic camera at a ridiculously low price. I quickly ordered, only to find out a few hours later that Vann's realized they had made a mistake and later changed the price back to where it should have been (about $150 more). Those of us who placed orders at the low price on Amazon were afraid that Vann's would back out of the deal, but were PLEASANTLY SURPRISED by the fact that Vann's honored the low price listed in error. I have great respect for a company that would be that fair. Kudos to them.

They honored what ended up being a pricing mistake when they certainly didn't have to. Very honorable. Fast shipping and no problem transaction. I would certainly recommend them with no hesitation!

Most recently Vanns was nice enough to take back and refund my Toshiba HD DVD player which was worthless because Toshiba dropped the technology.I had it for 2 months and Vanns still took it back. I am a good customer for Vanns but still it was great for them to do that. Vanns did not have to take it back and give me a refund but they did. I give them five stars for that alone but they have done so much more for me to prove they are great. I ordered a Panasonic TH-58PZ750U Plasma televison and recieved it in 3 days time at a price lower than any other retailer and with free shipping. This is an excellent TV--best I ever owned. They gave me a good price and delivered it to me FAST--very Fast and in perfect condition.
On October 5, 2007 (a Friday) I ordered a Samsung 32" LCD television from Vann's. I was thrilled to receive free shipping and no sales tax. Vann's is based out in Montana and I am in the eastern USA so I was amazed to receive the television in only 4 days--2 of which were a weekend. Vann's packed the television in an outer shipping container so the television arrived by Fed Ex in perfect condition.
Vann's is a Montana retailer, a sales tax-free state. Vann's has several brick and mortar stores all in various larger Montana cities. Montana has no sales tax so theoretically even if you live in a state with a sales tax that has laws that require you to pay sales tax for out of state purchases it is unlikely those laws could be enforced for Vann's since you could buy the product in their brick and mortar stores in Montana in person if you wished(and pay no sales tax of course). But why bother when Vann's gives you free shipping to any of the 48 contiguous US states? Vann's prices are legitimate and always are far and away much lower that what I could find in stores where I live. They even will price match other legitimate and reputable sites on a case by case basis. You just got to ask them and see. No wonder there are so very few negative reviews for Vann's on resellerratings.com
I noticed that the few negative reviews seem to usually involve very odd transactions by buyers.
Again this proves to me that transactions out of the ordinary should be in a separate category for reselleratings.com as they skew the reliability of good merchants such as Vanns.
I have carefully read the few negative reviews that are here on resellerratings.com and found about 75% sounded fake or involved bizarre purchases by customers wanting the impossible.Simply stated, Vann's is the cream of the crop for tax-free electronics purchases with rock bottom prices and free shipping almost always. You really can not do better than that.BRAVO!!!

To begin with this review has more to do with the shippers Vann's chooses to use. While Vann's itself had done a good job with my order their choice of Yellow Inc. did not go well.
After I got Vann's shipping confirmation email I went to Yellow's site with their tracking number and saw the status. I called Yellow and was given the number to my local Yellow hub. I was told to speak to Sonia. She told me to call the 15th to set up an appointment. When I called back on the 15th I was put on hold for about 20 mins. I called back and was disconnected immediately. I called back and got someone else who's name I can't remember (There are only 2 ladies that handle tracking or dispatch or whatever). She told me to call the 16th. Okay I call the 16th and they tell me that it will be delivered on Monday and no they don't do Weekend delivery. Ok I am told it will be delivered between 9 and 11am. However when I call Monday I am given the number to their "handoff" shipper that will actually be doing the delivery. Okay so I call them and find out that they have the TV but it's not on a truck yet. And it will be delivered between 1pm and 4pm. Okay So I now have to take an entire day off to wait for this TV. I call 4pm because it hasn't arrived yet. Now the driver is late and it will be here between 4 and 6pm. I called at 6pm and there was no answer. I call again and am disconnected. Miraculously I got a call 6:30pm from the truck driver and finally got the TV. 6:30pm is not 9am or 11am for that matter.
What really burns is Vann's response to an e-mail regarding my experience :
-- Good Morning
We greatly apologize for the inconvenience we do not expect that type of service in any situation. We will definetley (?)make a complaint with our Yellow representative to see that this problem is taken care. We appreciate the information and the feedback. Let us know if there are any further problems with the delivery. Thank you.

Now yes I got the TV okay but, I dunno, it seems the service was "misrepresented" a couple of times along the way. Not shady, just not really in touch with the people that represent them on a "human" level.

I am very cautious when it comes to buying a product via the internet. I checked with Better Business Bureau and went through a slew of previous Vann's customers testimonials before I decided THIS IS THE STORE TO PURCHASE FROM. Not only did they have a very competitive price but their shipping was speedy and the best I have ever dealt with. My LN-S3296D was delivered via Fedex on the fourth day from ordering. The advertised new product with Manufacture's seal was packaged perfectly. I recommend Vann's for purchasing products via internet. It went so smooth with no problems. Thanks Vann's for saving me money and such prompt service. I WILL BUY AGAIN FROM VANN'S. LER

I bought a Samsung LCD TV from Vanns.com. They had the item on sale for far less than I could find elsewhere, even at the not-so-highly rated stores. I was concerned about ordering online because of the possibility of damage in shipping. My fears were unfounded. It was shipped immediately and packaged far better than I would have done myself. In summary, they had the best price, shipped promptly and I will not hesitate to shop them again.

so awesome. I was going to buy my plasma from a wholesale thing here in nyc, but I couldnt pick it up and they were giving me a hassle. Then I found Vanns.com. They were cheaper in the end because of the no tax and free shipping. Im sure everyone has said the same thing, but they were actually pretty awesome. I originally ordered the HP-R5052 plasma, they said it would ship the next day. The next day, they called to say that they only had one HP-R5052 left and it was damaged. I was mad for a second, then they offered me a free upgrade to the HP-R5053 model, which just made me madder (cuz i dont like that one). Then they also said they could send me the HP-R5072 model, which I loved, and that was that. They told me on the phone it would be there the next friday (7 days), but once I got the tracking info it was scheduled for monday...which I kind of expected for free ground shipping from montana to nyc. Sure enough, this morning it came, I set it up no problem, and its awesome. Also, they had a deal for a free remote control or wall mount, either of which worth $130. They ran out of wall mounts, but i didnt want the crazy universal remote control. They said they could send me the wall mount when it becomes available, or I can get something else for that price. I ended up getting a Sony DVD player with HDMI output for free AND it had free shipping. Man these guys are awesome and trustworthy.

I bought from Vanns a Mirage subwoofer and a pair of Mirage Omisats for surround and everything went without any problems: items as described and fast (free) shipping.

The fact that they have a clearance section where they sell returns as open-box items should give buyers confidence that the items they get are factory fresh.

A great place to buy A/V stuff.

I have purchased a Home Theater and a set of speakers stands was included with them.
Free shipping surely helped as the HTIB box was huge - I mean... fridge size.
Anyway, the website was really friendly, with useful information and the checkout process a breeze. It was ordered late at night but they shipped the very next day and arrived shortly thereafter.
Had a problem with the free speaker stands but their excellent customer service fixed it immediately. A+++++++ dealer.
