EDIT: 9/13/2002:
PC is still GREAT!
3DMarks: 10138 - not as high as I'd like, but still pretty awesome.
My one complaint is that my PC tends to get quite hot. It would have been nice to have an extra fan in the case, but it's not terrible.
--ORIGINAL POST--
Not many complaints.
The system I bought is working perfectly. Customer Service was fairly helpful.
Specs are as follows:
- Inwin 300W Case
- ViA A7V333 mobo (RAID, USB2.0, ATA133, sound)
- LeadTek GeForce4 Ti4400
- AMD Athlon XP 2200+
- 512MB PC2700 DDR - Samsung
- 80GB Western Digital Special Edition (8MB cache) HD
- 17" Samsung 753DF CRT
- Pioneer 16X DVD
- LiteOn 40x/12x/48x CD-RW
- RealTek 10/100 Base T NIC card
- Ambient (Intel) v.92 56K modem
- Altec Lansing AVS300W speakers (2 speakers, 1 subwoofer)
- Windows XP
- ABS Keyboard
- MS Intellimouse
- 1.44MB FDD
Total, including shipping: $1466
So far, it's working really well, and I'm quite impressed.
I was a little disappointed that my system was shipped out about a day late, but, then again, it was only 1 day, and I was also able to get them down to $70 (from $90) for FedEx Express Saver shipping.
I benchmarked my system using PCMark2002 by MadOnion.com
CPU Score: 5263
Memory score: 3264
HD Score: 1138
I haven't run 3DMark2001 yet, because it's 30MB and I haven't had the time to download it. Fear not: I'll download it, and post my results here.
Also, I have to say that FedEx is really stupid.
My system was shipped out on 8/15 from CA -> NY via FedEx Express Saver (3 day air). It arrived in NY on Monday, and 2 of the 3 packages (tower, monitor, speakers) were delivered that day. The 3rd (the speakers) were listed as "not scheduled for delivery." I called up FedEx to ask, and they were like, "Well, it's 3 day air, so it can arrive on Tuesday." I answered, "That's fine, but isn't it stupid to drop off 2 packages and not the 3rd?" Apparently my logic didn't work, and my speakers were delivered today (Tuesday), whereas my PC was delivered on Monday.
I give ABS high marks. They did a good job on my system. I only wish it came with better or more software. And I wish they had installed whatever software that was coming with my PC on to my hard drive before shipping it. Oh well, I guess I can't wish for everything.
It came installed with all the drivers, and MS Windows XP Home, along with some DVD software, but not much else.
On the plus side, all the software, along with documentation came in a very handy-dandy binder which keeps everything nice and organized.
Bottom line: solid PC, low cost, good results. :) This review was modified by its author, Tary, on

Avoid this company like the plague. Their sites raves about customer support and it's full of crap. I ordered memory from them listed as $169 on Pricewatch. On the website, the price was $209. I left a note in the "comments" field telling them I wanted the $169 price, not the $209. I never received a phone call or email regarding the difference. The package arrived approx. a week later and the invoice said they charged my card $209!!! Obviously I called the company immediately about the difference. I spoke to about 6 different people over a four day period, half of which just handed me off to someone else. They would put me on hold OVER AND OVER again and never indicate why they were randomly doing this. Eventually I got to a supervisor who was about as helpful as all the other customer support people. He also put me on hold several times for what seemed to be no reason. Eventually it came down to they could not honor that price of $169 because they use real time pricing so they couldn't give me the memory at that price. Well, HELLO! Pricewatch is ALSO realtime. How long does it really take to change the price on pricewatch. My options then became either return the memory for a full refund or pay the $209. This company is ridiculous. I highly recommend avoiding them. Oh, and their so-called SUPERVISOR, yeah, he DOESN'T return phone calls, so don't waste your time leaving voice mail about a problem.
Added 9/18/02:
After customer service saw this posting at ResellerRatings and a comment was left with Pricewatch.com about the problem, I was contacted and they are now going to refund me for the difference. However, I will note that it still took some extreme actions after multiple useless phone calls. This review was modified by its author, ott918, on

My family got a computer for just under $2000 from ABS way back in June of 1999. We comparison-shopped for it, and of the 20 or so systems from various reputable vendors that we looked at, it had by far the best specs for that price. We have since upgraded it numerous times, and still use it constantly, and it hasn't given us any hardware-related problems. None at all. It has the original sound card, speakers, DVD and floppy drives, power supply, and case, which are still good components today, and the original mobo, RAM, hard drive, Zip100 drive, graphics card, and modem, which, although hopelessly obsolete, still work perfectly. Unless ABS has changed in three years, I'd recommend them over any big vendor like Dell, Gateway, or HP/Compaq. This review was modified by its author, thefultonhow, on

so i was looking for a computer for college and after some looking around, decided to choose abs computers...there weren't too many sites that had the amount of options they had for the price and with a good reseller rating. it seems that abs computers, from the lastest reseller ratings posted, seemed to have been providing good service so i went with them. i ordered their abs awesome 3300, the specs are as follows:
lian li pc 65 case
asus a7v333 w/ raid motherboard retail boxed
leadtek ti4600 128 MB video card
enermax 350W PS
amd athlon xp 2200+
2 pieces of kingston 512 MB DDR333 PC-2700 ram
mitsumi floppy drive
intel 56K v.92 modem
lite on 40x12x48 CDRW
pioneer 16x dvd drive (tray load)
soundblaster audigy
corel office 2002 (free with purchase of system)
3com 905CX NIC
Dynatron DC1206BM-L610 heatsink
logitech z560 speakers
windows xp professional
desktop microphone (free with purchase of system)
mouse pad (free with purchase of system)
ok, so as you can see by the specs, the configurations they offer are spectacular, in fact, the system you see above, i did not call the company to make a "special order" for or something, i was able to make that computer right from the online configurator. btw, they also give you free 3 years tech support (only on weekdays, 3 years labor, and then also lifetime labor if you ever want them to install anything else for you, you ship your computer back to them and only pay for the parts.
so i order the computer listed above for an amazing price, (best i could find for a system like that) due to one of their frequent promotions and the very next day after i order it, i see that the price on the same system has dropped even lower. so i call them up and ask them if they can match that new price and they say they'll get back to me. after a couple of days, they get back to me and instead of matching the price they actually make it lower then the new one quoted on the site.
so finally i get the system(the speakers were sent in a separate box since it could not fit in the box with the system, the speakers actually came double boxed which was extra nice) and everything is as described and an extra bonus. all the software for the system comes in a binder already organized. also, there was no switching of parts or anything, everything i ordered was included plus all the cables in the system were tied up for good airflow. the system runs great and the people there are extremely nice. any negatives? no company can be completely perfect....the only two slight problems are whatever operating system you order only comes with a recovery cd, it would be nice if you got the whole thing but for the price the system was i can't complain. also, if i was to ever return the system, any open driver disks results in a charge to your account. these two negatives don't seem to me like such a big deal but maybe to you they might.
if you are considering buying a system from these guys, i would highly suggest it, they do a great job and you won't be dissapointed. i could not be any happier with my purchase from them.

I wanted to express my enjoyment to the people at ABS Computers.I orderded the Cheetah system on March the first. Two days after the order I seen a promotion for 50$ off so I called sales and asked if I could get an upgrade on the processcer. George gave me no problem with that request.I took delivery on March the 16.Everything was packed correctly and I got a binder with with all the owners manuals and driver disks.I also appriciate the fact that this computer has non proprietary hardware, whichs lets me upgrade without a hassle.I also like getting e-mails to check the progress of the computer as to when it was built and when it will be shipped.I really think that I got a good deal on this computer. The major computer manufactors should take a look at how your business operates. I think I got better treatment from your company then I did at Compaq.
SINCERELY,
John Spidell

I am very happy with the new system I bought from ABS. The Performance 2 is an excellent value with quality components. I especially appreciated the ability to customize the system to get exactly the features I want...something I couldn't get from Dell or Gateway.
The system performed flawlessly out of the box. I have had no driver or hardware problems.

The desktop computer I purchased from ABS 2 years ago is still working flawlessly. When encountering "user" errors the technical support was excellent in resolving the problems. The unit has off the shelf hardware making upgrades easy.

I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH MY PURCHASE OF AN "ALL-IN-WONDER 128" SYSTEM. I HAD EXCELLENT TECH SUPPORT. HOWEVER I DO FEEL IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ADVANTAGEOUS TO HAVE A COMPLETE LISTING OF HARDWARE AND SERIAL NUMBERS FOR ALL INSTALLED EQUIPMENT AND LINKS TO WHERE I COULD GET UPDATED DRIVERS ETC.
OVERALL I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH ABS AND WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE WANTING TO PURCHASE A GREAT COMPUTER SYSTEM.

The system is fast, but it is troubled with many minor problems, and a few big ones. I had to reformat the drive on arrival because of a problem with drivers…. You think they could get this right.
This company has very poor tech support on returns. If you have to return an item, they require you to pay shipping back. They promise you credit if you enclose a receipt of shipping charges, but in my case they never deliver.
Don’t even bother buying their on-site tech service. They will not deliver here either. I have ended up installing both a CD-RW drive and a hard drive that went bad.
There systems are much cheaper than others, but tech support is very poor. If you don’t mind fixing it yourself, and can live with paying for returns, then give them a try.
If you like customer service then look elsewhere.
Would I but again? Yes if the price was right, but that’s because I can fix the things that go wrong myself.

I purchased an ABS Computer Technologies TIGER in Feb. of 2002.
This is a great system. AMD Athlon 2000+, 1.67 mhx, 1024mb RAM, Nvidia GeForce3 TI500, DVD, CD-RW, NIC, Klipsch 5.1 THX speaker sys, Office XP, XP OS, the best of every thing they had. The price of my system was easily over 1,200 dollars below the next best priced manufacturer.
I have had no problems with my system thus far and the service has been excellent. Great sales people and great Tech support. I would highly recommend this company to every one.
