Thank you everyone for your reviews. Glad I checked Camera Addict out first. The price was suspiciously low. I Googled the Panasonic Lumix LX3 in black and ShopCartUSA came up and the price was much lower and Camera Addict, and it was in stock, and they had terrific user reviews. So I almost ordered it from them, thankfully I read the reviews for Camera Addict here and decided not to. And where do you think ShopCartUSA is based? Brooklyn just like Camera Addict, what a scam!  
 
I bought it from Provantage instead and they informed me upfront that it was backordered.

This "Company" Stinks and is just a bunch of dishonest people, Tried to purchase a GPS system from them and like many of the other people here they added on a bunch of stuff that should be part of the standard equipment (according to the Garmin website) They put high pressure that you NEED this stuff, when they know its not the case. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY, I am fighting with them thru my credit card company to get my over charge back!!

AVOID: I think this is a bait and switch company.  
 
Check Better Business Bureau's website for latest complaints on this company. www.bbb.org and select the national database to find Camera Addict.  
 
Website advertised an Olympus E-3 SLR, body only, for $931. When I called today to order, I immediately asked if it was in stock for shipment today. Salesclerk (Adam x226) said yes.  
 
He then said the camera is a "wholesale" version and doesn't come with a battery or charger.  
 
However a $1599 "kit" was available that included battery charger, battery, and a 1 GB "extreme digital" memory card.  
 
Price for these "extras"...$668 more than the original price of the camera!  
 
Chargers cost $10-$60. Batteries cost $24-$50. And a top-of-the-line, Sandisk Extreme IV 4GB CF memory card = $97.  
 
How could they justify charging $680 for about $150 worth of goods?  
 
And of course, the camera body alone was no longer in stock and was now backordered for 4-6 weeks. But the "kit" with $680 worth of their extras was indeed in stock.  
 
The manufacturer's part number #262010 states on www.Olympus.com that the battery and charger are part of the camera package.  
 
Camera Addict lists the same manufacturer's part number...but without the battery and charger included.  
 
Stick to the main honest tried-and-true resellers: B & H Photo, Calumet Photo...anyone but these guys!

UN-BELIEVABLE SCAM ARTISTS! Yet I fear many have fallen prey to their cocky, bullying, deceptive schemes. I tried to order a Mac laptop and an $800 Sony Lens from them at the prices listed on their website (as well as Broadway Photo) and found after wasting hours of my time with them on the phone with different sales people and managers that it was never going to happen. They would simply throw the "won't work without these accessories" or "that is only the mail-in warranty" or "you know this is the Japanese-only version, right" at me. Bait-and-Switch and fear-of-loss. When I tried to alter my first order after checking on some of their upsell accessories, the guy cancelled my order and said I now had to wait 2 weeks before i could order!! LOL , what kind of legitimate company does that? When I then called back and got a manager to admonish this guy,he said "he'd look into it." Yeah, right. After the 3rd salesman told me the Mac Laptop for the advertised price was the "Japanese version"....(The American version was $300 MORE!!) Yet it had the same model no. I'd seen all over the internet as American ... I said, "Really, and what do you think Apple will say to that when I call them?" He hung up on me. They also do not disclose on their site the ADDED 6%-9% "Handling Charge" . SCAM,SCAM,SCAMMERS!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Camera Addict is a scam operation. I orderd a Canon G9 from them--they had the lowest price--and they would NOT ship it to me for the price I paid. It was in "backorder" forever. Avoid like the plague. In fact, give them the plague. Cameraddict.com is a scam operation. Do not shop from these scammers.

As of today, 09/21/2008, I have not received any correspondence fro Camera Addict.

Camera Addict will fool you!!! I was looking for the Fuji s100fs.  
Camera addict will never answer the phone...they will call you. Camera addict told me (after telling them I used to own one of these,therefore no need for all the extras) that this camera came by itself,i said what do u mean? Camera addict said: yep (very unprofessional) just the camera...no battery,no charger,no usb cables... I said are u kidding me? camera addict said nope!.  
So camera addict proceeded to offer a "package" with all the accesories included for $69us. So I went from $505 to $734... ????? wtf!? not only they scam you,if you try to cancel the order after is placed camera addict will hang up on u! I have been buying online since 2000 and this is the first time i feel unsafe giving my info to a company. My advice:DO NOT BUY FROM THE THIEVES AT CAMERA ADDICT !!! spend 50 or 60 bucks more and be satisfied with your items from a reputable seller.

All the reviews on this site are sooo accurate!! Buyer beware!!!! Do not purchase from these scam artists!! Placed order, thought price was reasonable. Next day recieved call from them saying camera didn't come with battery or charger. I stupidly said that would be o.k. Got home tried to cancel order the same day, they said it was shipped and I would have to pay a restocking charge. First started out in the 20% range - finally got them down to the 5% (after saying I'd dispute with credit card co) that is sort of stated on the web site. Said shipping was free, but charged a $45 handling/insurance charge that I was unaware of. They never sent an invoice with any sort of prices until called and complained. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!!!!

I read the reviews but found some reviews on another site that gave me some hope these guys weren't a total rip-off. Ordered a Canon SLR and they wanted to sell me all the things that come standard with the camera. I refused to bite and no surprise the camera went into back order. Canceled my order and came to confirm these people are untrustworthy. Stay Away!

OK so has anyone successfully gotten them to cancel or refund in full. I placed order online got the email to call them I did and of course I got the sales pitch. Still have not seen anything in the way of an invoice or showing what my cost will be. Fifteen minutes after the phone call I get an email with order conframation and still no total of charges. Then I go straight to my bank account and see the money has been put on hold from the bank. This is where I see what I am being charged. These people crooks They added an unknown charges. I call them on we no charge shipping but we charge handling and insurance of course in extremely broken english. I ask him to cancel the order and he got mad and hung up. I called back and talked to someone in sales dept they said the order was canceled. they sent me an email saying they had canceled the order. Now all this with in 20 minutes of the intial call placing the order. Well guess what this all happened at around 1:00pm midnight they send me an email telling me they have shipped my order. So now I am going to have to battle them to get all of my money back. But I will let VISA handle it for me.

As of now VISA is handling this issue for me. They have it as a fraud claim. I hope to hear from VISA soon as I need the money back so I can buy from a reputable company.

Thanks to VISA my money has been refunded. I will never use them again and hope no others get drawn into their cheating ways

Wow! Im not alone, this has to be the worst shopping experience I have had. I wish I had checked consumer reports before dealing with them, but noooo! I couldn’t resist the appealing price. But as everyone else has mentioned they are a scam, and have no intentions of selling you the product at that price point. "bait and switch" lie, mislead, very unethical sales tactics. This is probably a few kids in a bedroom, or apartment who don’t even have a real store or warehouse. I hope I am able to get my money back for the camera I rejected upon receipt. I don’t trust this shady business; I have contacted the New York bbb and filed a complaint. I found the new model of the camera I mistakenly purchased from the Scamaddict/ at Buy Dig for lower price, they are a respectable co, I have purchased from them before and I will again with confidence Camera addict Broadway photo / 86th st photo, they are all connected and scammers alike.

DO NOT BUY anything from this compnay. Bought an AVR5308CI for over 4000.00. When rcvd it was broken, could not contact company to return, no one answers phone, no one replys to emails.  
 
Unit had to be sent bacjk to Denon for anothr 1000.00 in repiars. BEWARE DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM.

While the price was attractive ($193 for a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500), things quickly turned disappointing with CameraAddict.com  
 
First, nothing comes with the camera — no battery, no charger, no cables — nothing that would regularly come with the camera as sold by everyone else. Okay, so some of the savings goes to the extras. Camera Addict wants a premium price for these items. Big surprise! So I opted to order a battery charger, batteries (with much higher capacity by the way), memory cards and stuff elsewhere.  
 
I phoned first to verify the item was in stock. I was assured it was. My order went through the website without a hitch. The next day I get an e-mail requesting I call. I thought there was a problem with my credit card. Nope, they wanted to know why I didn't order a battery, charger, and so forth. Told them I didn't want them and was assured my order would be going out the next day.  
 
The next day I receive another e-mail stating that the item was backordered (no further details, just backordered). I inquired and was told that it would be 4-6 weeks. Odd for an "in stock" item. I called and was told it would be 2-3 weeks "would I like to cancel?"  
 
Caveat emptor! Clearly they didn't want to sell me "just" the camera. Hey, they set the price and policy. I'm going to have my friend Tony Cuomo look into this. You will also find that they also have a couple of other web-fronts. That is, they do business under different names.  
 
Take your business elsewhere. After adding up the bottom line — and lack of service — you can do much better elsewhere. I did!

They had the lowest price but thats because the digital camera was going to come without a battery. The shipping was free but the handling was about 10% (about $30). I cancelled my order because the price of the camera was going to be about twice what they were advertising it for. No wonder it was so cheap at first.
