All the reviews on this site are sooo accurate!! Buyer beware!!!! Do not purchase from these scam artists!! Placed order, thought price was reasonable. Next day recieved call from them saying camera didn't come with battery or charger. I stupidly said that would be o.k. Got home tried to cancel order the same day, they said it was shipped and I would have to pay a restocking charge. First started out in the 20% range - finally got them down to the 5% (after saying I'd dispute with credit card co) that is sort of stated on the web site. Said shipping was free, but charged a $45 handling/insurance charge that I was unaware of. They never sent an invoice with any sort of prices until called and complained. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!!!!
THIS SITE IS A TOTAL RIP OFF! I wish I saw this site before purchasing!

Well I very cautiously ordered a camera from Camera Addict. I always check reviews when available before ordering anything online from hotels to games to electronics. I wanted to get a camera and I found one listed in a Best Buy flyer that had a lot of great reviews. The cost of the Nikon D40 was around $500 (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8139169&st=nikon+d40&lp=5&type=product&cp=1&id=1158323379076). I searched the web to see how that price compared. I found the same camera at Camera Addict for $346 (http://www.cameraaddict.com/viewproduct.aspx?id=3616605#ps). That was quite a big difference which made me even more cautious. I read the countless negative reviews about the merchant and found a few positive ones. I inspected closely that what is included was the same and that this one wasn't refurbished (which I didn't see anywhere that said it was). So it appears we're comparing similar cameras and options. I decided to go ahead and purchase it. In the comments field, I put in a comment that said I know exactly what I want so don't bother calling me. Just process the order. Since I was saving about $150 I decided to go ahead and order the camera case, a DVD on how to use it and 1 GB memory card. I didn't order a battery from them as I could get one cheaper from www.shopxtreme.com. I ordered the camera on Sunday night and needed it by this weekend for an upcoming family trip so I paid for 2 day shipping too.

Well as everyone said would happen I received a call from them on Monday to 'confirm my order'. First they emailed me to call them but I didn't call so by afternoon they called me. They did confirm all I ordered. They did point out that I had the wrong memory card so I swapped it out with another card. It did cost about $25 more and I know nothing about these cards so I trusted he knew what he was talking about. What bothered me was that it was listed in the accessories section under that camera.

They noticed I didn't get a battery and of course tried to sell me one. I said I bought one somewhere else. They confirmed I wanted 2 day shipping and gave me an updated total. They did add 6% insurance to the total which I didn't see listed anywhere on their website. My total for the camera with the memory, case, dvd, 2 day shipping, and insurance was $526.53. If I would have purchased the camera alone at Best Buy I would have paid $500 plus sales tax of $35. So I’m very happy with the savings.

Well I received the items as promised yesterday. Everything looked good and packaged nicely. I have absolutely no problem with this company and will shop them again when I purchase a camcorder later this year (if they're the cheapest that is).

One other thought. Some complaints revolve around having to speak with a sales rep before an order is processed. I agree that does bother me since you want to be able to place an order via the web and be done with it - simply wait for it to arrive. But if I need to speak with someone in order to get a big savings on an electronics device, I'll do it especially if they really did point out I had ordered a wrong accessory for the camera. Sure they'll try to sell you accessories but that's sales and upselling. You ever go to McDonalds and get asked if you want to supersize your order? Did you ever get the soundproofing added to your new car? I work in sales and that's a normal process of a good salesman and can't fault them for trying to sell you additional accessories or maybe talk to you about the benefits of a better model. What I'd suggest is do all your research before you purchase with them or anyone and know exactly what you want and need. Then you can’t be influenced or 'bothered' into buying something else. If they're truly doing a bait and switch, then that would be of concern but I was very happy with my experience with them.

Camera Addict is the worst on-line retailer I have ever dealt with.

I ordered a Canon Powershot SD750 on line for what looked like a good price. The next day I got a call from a Camera Addict sales person saying they needed to confirm the sale.

Well, this is where the bullcrap started. They guy told me the free shipping required paying 19$ in insurance charges.

Then he told me the Canon battery that comes with the camera would last only 20 minutes of actual picture taking, and told me for 39$ he would sell me a "4 hour" battery.

Then he told me I could get a parts and labor warranty for 14$ a year.

Then he said he could sell me a package deal that included the "4 hour battery" a 1GB high speed memory card, a screen protector, a camera case, and table top tripod, plus the 1 year parts and labor warranty for what seemed like a pretty good price.

So here is the truth about what Camera Addict sold me. The supposed "4 hour battery" is less powerful than the battery that comes with the camera. The 1 year parts and labor warranty only covers 90 days of labor (the same as the original Canon warranty). The screen protector is a universal laminar stick-on product that didn't even come close to fitting the camera lcd.

Overall - Camera Addict is a bunch of NYC clowns.
Don't buy anything from this company, they are lying ripoff artists.

Last but not least, they want to charge a MINIMUM of a 5% restocking fee for selling a bunch of lies.

TOTAL LIES AND A BUNCH OF CLOWNS. DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM Camera Addicts.

These guys are intentionally dishonest. Be very careful buying anything from them. They are very misleading. I completed my internet order. They send you an email saying you have to call-in to complete the order. When I called, a slimy sales guy answered and told me, "sir you ordered a Japanese projector; do you want an American Projector?" (of course the "American" projector is $250 more). Check out all of the reviews --- these guys are crooked!

After reading all of the negative reviews, I have to conclude that I am either very lucky or that dissatisfied customers are more likely to write reviews..
I have purchased camera lenses from Camera Addict three times in the last year, and have never had a problem. You do have to call and confirm your order and they do try to sell you additional accessories, but the customer service reps have always politely accepted my refusal of same. They do sell gray market lenses, but I have no problem with that. I take good care of my equipment and I'm happy to have the opportunity to buy these pricey items at considerable savings.

I was looking for the Tamron 17-50 mm lens for my Minolta 7D. After doing some online price search, I found that most of the retailers sell it for around $450, but Camera Addict's price was $307 for a grey market model, which is more than 30% off. Not believing if the price/stock is legit, I called and talked to a sales. He told me he has the lens in stock and suggested my to get the UV filter and 6 year warranty for a discounted $100. I asked if I can order online, he said yes but I wont be able to get the 'discounted' price for the accessories. I hung up, gave it a thought, and decided to place the order online just for the lens with $24 for 2nd day shipping. The next day I called them to check the status, and was told the order was processed and will be shipped out the same day. I was having a little hard time believing it. Later on that day I received an email with tracking number. Two days later I received the lens in new packaging(made for Japanese market, but I have no problem with). Spent the weekend test the lens with fast accurate focus and very satisfied results.
I think I got an unbelievable good deal from Camera Addict. The processing is fast and shipping is ontime. I can't speak for other people's experience from Camera Addict. Am I going to buy from Camera Addict again? With 30% cheaper from competitors and fast delivery, you bet I will.

I've been reading these really bad reviews about places like Camera Addict and Sonic Cameras. They've really been trashed on this site. I see very, very few positive ratings. I have an item I purchased from Camera Addict, so I want to let persons know of my experience: YES, they WILL try to talk you into spending more money-that is their job-they are probably on a commission and they act like you should EXPECT to pay more. But listen carefully, you can really get a package including what you want, not just what they offer on their site-to lure you in. The price WILL get you to call-to verify your purchase-the tactic they use to get you to call. No, the battery is not part of the price you see on the Web... maybe they take them out and sell them separately, don't know, but that is how they get you. Their goal is to get a certain amount of money for the product. So, you negotiate what they offer on the Web vs. what you need that they want to sell separately (if you don't want all the stuff they offer in the Web package). I purchased a Canon ZR-850 Mini DV Camcorder/Camera. The Web price was $179. After negotiating the package, my bottom line was $250. Standard battery with long-lasting also, cables, remote-it's all about the package. The camera is fine, works fine, still in warranty; I registered it with Canon and had no problems. If you don't want the hassle of talking to someone, pay a few dollars more, or sometimes less, at Amazon.com. By the time these people finish with you, it works out about the same anyway. I checked the Canon site to see the list price with Accessories-maybe $100 more. They use the low price to reel you in. Although I am satisfied with my purchase, I was on pins and needles before it arrived. I called to check twice; they assured me it was on the way. It did and all is well. So I'll give them a thumbs up.

I was very skeptical about them, usually there's a catch with such low prices. So I wasn't surprised when I was contacted to verify my order. I almost just cancelled the order then and there because I didn't want to deal with a whole runaround from them. Trust me I learned my lesson last time I tried to order from a different internet vendor. But I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and called them back.

Of course I got an upsell and of course I didn't want anything else. But the surprise part, they still shipped my order for the same price on their website. Honestly I wasn't expecting that but hey, I couldn't be happier.

I bought a "high end" model so it wasn't like I was saving a few pennies, try a few hundred dollars! In the future I'd use them again because while the "verification" process is really unnecessary, at the end of the day they ship your order and you can save a nice sum of money.

I did my research before purchasing from this store. I read many of the Broadwayphoto or Bwayphoto reviews. I looked them up on the BBB website which confirms they are in fact owned by bwayphoto. Several other online stores are also operated by the same company.
I wanted a camera that has been discontinued and not available anywhere else; the Canon Optura 50.
They have them on the website for under $300. I decided to take a chance. I decided to circumvent getting an email asking me to call and confirm the purchase which seems to be followed by aggressive sales of overpriced accessories I do not need, at least according to hundreds of other buyers at bwayphoto's reseller ratings. I called to make my purchase, but I asked if the camera on the site was Japanese and, not surprisingly, it is. It says nothing about that on the web site, of course. They do not have the USA model listed on the site, so I ask if they have them. The answer is yes, they do, they are $349, about $70 bucks more than the Japanese model listed. I decided to wait, and called back the next day, the price changed to $399 but they let me have it for $349 after a little haggling. I then order the camera and expected the sales pitch for batteries and tapes, etc. I told the salesman I am replacing a camera and have all the accessories I need from the previous camera, which is true. That was it, no other pressure to buy. They charge $25 for shipping and handling, which is pricey, but it cost me $24 to send it back with insurance and signature confirmation, so maybe they aren't overcharging after all.
The camera didn't work, but they sent me another one as soon as they got mine back. They shipped the new one at no additional charge and this one works fine.

The factory warranty is not valid here, I called Canon, they only honor refurbished warranties if the device is sold directly through Canon. I brought this up to Cameraddict and they told me I would have a 90 warranty with them, which is the same length as canons.

I plan to buy a Mack warranty.

If I had gotten a good camera the first time, I would have very little to complain about, except the website IS misleading, but I went in knowing that. The camera does not come with a SD memory card, which the website shows as an included accessory. It would be useless to me at 16MB, when I can get a 1GB for $10.00 from microcenter.

My dealings on the phone with Cameraddict were perfectly normal. I might actually buy from them again, but I would like it better if the web site wasn't so deceptive. I did all my business on the phone, they do not have my email address, which I think is a better way to do business with them if you want to take a chance.

I do wish I had read the reviews before placing the online order. After reading all the reviews I fully knew what to expect. As soon as Ronald Davis, ext. 234 called, I told him all that I read online and that I want a tracking number, etc. He was pretty nice and I did accept the insurance upsell (which I'm sure was way overpriced) b/c I wanted to make sure the camera would not be backordered forever. Well - after more research, I realized that this would have been a grey market camera. My only issue with that was reading the other reviews about the company not fixing their merchandice correctly, so I certainly did not want to risk that. This morning I called Ronald, confirmed that it was a gray market camera and the American version would be more expensive than Amazon. So I cancelled. That was easy - I got my cancellation email and I just need to make sure they don't charge my credit card. So I'll update this post if I have further issues with that.

I don't recommend them, however if you know what you are getting into and comfortable with gray equipment, and a few extra upsells, then I guess this company would not be so bad.

Having said that, I never actually bought (and kept) anything from them. So take this review as it is.

I wish I had read the reviews before I bought. Most of the complaints are valid. After ordering the company wouldn't ship until I spoke to a salesperson who told me the item I ordered had a very short term battery and the instructions were in Japanese. For another $80.+ pluas I could get the same camera with a better battery and English instructions! The camera actually has four instruction booklets all in different languages. The final price with an additional 3 year service contract was decent but not great. I only have to hope the service contract is valid and that servicing will be less stressful than buying!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!

The "find-the-best-price" web sites gave this place good reviews. Didn't know about ResellerRatings.com. I, of course, had the same experience as all the other reviewers. However, I actually got my item (Garmin Nuvi 750 GPS) at the listed price ($351), $25-$50 less than other sites. After turning down all their "offers" to upsell me, the salesman said, "of course there is a $39.95 shipping insurance charge". So I told him to cancel the order and if he doesn't want to sell it to me that's okay by me. He then said he would give it to me at the original price. It arrived within a week with everything intact. Don't take their bait-and-switch tactics personally, I was more amused than anything. Pretend it's a game.

I purchased a Pentax K100D from this company for my son. When I recieved an email to call and confirm order, they talked me into additional items that they said I would need to use the camera. I agreed.Situations changed and I no longer needed or wanted the camera. So when it arrived I call the get a return authorization. I was offered a tripod and 5 year warranty to keep the camera and sell it on my own instead of returning. He said he was trying to save me money because of the restocking fee, said I could get more money back by elling on my own. According to their website the return policy says they charge a min of 5%. Well I learned 5% is or when you cancel before they ship. If you want to return it can be up to 25%. they charged me 15%. No where that I could find did they state this. I found them misleading and cagy. I will now wait and see how long it takes to credit my CC.

Purchased Pioneer Hp5000DVD In Dec 2008 From them, have had it back for repairs 3 times, for same problem of screen not coming back out. Each time it has been in for repairs for at least 4 weeks, get it back it works for 2-3 weeks then breaks again, this last time, they sent it back without the Radio tuner, it will not work with out the tuner. Each time with talking to them they are rude and A***h****. It has now been 3 weeks and they still have not sent the missing part... Talked to Pioneer service, and found out that they have never had the unit in for repairs. They believe that the unit was probably part of "missing" units. Therefore they did not want to send it in. STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE.. GO with a honest place of business.
