2/10/07 4:30 PM
Ordered a StudioRTA adjustable table (48x30", item# 398248). Was supposed to be delivered 2/9/07 between 8:30am and 5pm. Followed Office Depot's online order tracking status throughout the day. Tracking status began with "You are stop #12. The truck is currently at stop #0 of 20". Later in the morning, status showed "You are stop #-1. The truck is currently at stop #1 of 13". Then later, status showed "You are stop #-1. The truck is currently at stop #4 of 11". And finally at about 7pm, the status showed "You are stop #-1. The truck is currently at stop #12 of 12" but they never delivered my table. This is the second time I've tried to order this table from Office Depot--first ordered on 12/29/06 (order number 369097640-001) to be delivered 1/3/07--and so far, it is a repeat of my first experience with the table not being delivered (finally cancelled the first order). When you call Office Depot's customer service, they say that it's being delivered by a 3rd party as though that relieves Office Depot of any further service. This time I'm pursuing the non-delivery via emailing customer service in hopes of actually receiving my order. Staples has had no problem delivering orders and they have a release form you can download and complete to leave on your door so that the delivery driver can just leave the order if no one is home. Office Depot has no such option which means you have to sit home and wait all day only to have nothing delivered. If Staples had this particular table, I would have ordered it from them. Will update this review when situation is resolved--assuming it will be resolved.
Update 2/13/07: Received an email today from "customer service" that the table I ordered was not in stock which is interesting because I ordered it online (website showed it in stock) AND!!! it was supposedly loaded onto the delivery truck. I guess there is a black hole in the delivery truck that eats these tables.
To further my aggravation, when I called to cancel the order, I was told by the "customer service" rep that someone would call me with the order cancellation confirmation number. I asked to be emailed and was assured that would be no problem. It's now more than 4 hours later and no email and no call. I don't think that Office Depot could work any harder to make things inconvenient and unpleasant. This final screw-up on their part has just reaffirmed my decision to never, ever do business with Office Depot again.
2/20/07: On 2/13/07, I was informed that my cancellation request required a second level of tech support research! On 2/14/07, I received an email that my account would be credited within 2 business days. On 2/20/07 I discovered that rather than crediting my credit card, Office Depot has CHARGED my credit card! Needless to say, I have fired off yet another email requesting that they credit my account properly. It is hard to see how Office Depot could be any more incompetent but they have handily demonstrated that they can be with this latest fiasco. This review was modified by its author, tlbrating, on

I purchased a copy of windows XP home from office crappo...oops, depot that was supposed to have a $70.00 rebate. Well, the order was billed to my CC on the 10th as soon as the order was placed, the order arrived on the 13th as promised, that worked well till then. After it arrived I mailed back the required materials for the rebate THE NEXT DAY, Now, mind you, this was on the 14th of SEPTEMBER 2006.
The rebate terms from office depot clearly state "allow 60-90 days to RECEIVE your mail-in savings" Now, in my book 60-90 days is a bit excessive but eh, whatever it is on their terms. I kept watching the website for notification that they received my rebate, which they did and it was listed as "being in the required validation period" which I am assuming the 60-90 days that they use your money for free.. after 90 days (now remember I was supposed to HAVE the check within 90 days) after the 90 days it finally moved to the "check approval" stage, I thought, well good, they are finally doing something. There it sat for another week or so, now we are talking about christmas time, I check again and it went to "check mailing" so I thought, well, 105 days to write a check... maybe they are very young and don't know how to spell yet. But hey, they were mailing my check right? wrong.. I check back a couple days later, now it is the beginning of JANUARY and I find I am back in the "required validation period" again!!! so, on 01-03-07 I call CS at office crappo and get put on hold for 13 minutes long distance with "jane" for her to tell me they have all the required rebate materials and they would send the check "right out". I asked why it had gone back and forth she said she didn't know, but would send it "right out" I asked how long before I get it and she says it would take 4 WEEKS!!! I said, 4 weeks to mail a friggen check? she said yes. I was floored.. this is BS and an attempt to defraud consumers in my opinion.
SO... I wait 4 MORE weeks, and guess what? NO CHECK. I then call CS once again and talk to "rafael" ( I swear I think they make up fictitious names so you can't track them)and he informs me he sees 2 submissions, so I once again, on long distance explain that if they did their job correctly, and "jane" did her job correctly I wouldn't have 2 friggen submissions, that I would have had a check over a month ago, so, he puts me on hold once again. He then comes back and tells me "because I waited so long for it he would send a check right out".. what a nice guy eh? see a pattern emerging here? I do. I again ask how long before I get this fictitious check he says " you will have it in 5-10 days" well, it is now 4 days later and they are now in the "check approval" stage, so I can safely assume I will not receive it in 5 days, My bet is 10-15... I will update if or when I get this so called rebate check from office crappo.
I also talked to a bunch of other people on another forum about this rebate and it seems to be a popular theme of office crappo to just not mail the rebate checks until you contact them multiple times. How convenient, if you forget they never send it. They are scammers, fradsters and should be shut down for commiting mail fraud for starters.
Updates later.

Ordered storage boxes and writing pads on 08/21 and had them on my doorstep on 08/22. Shipping was free as I ordered cents over $50 and then I even applied a $10 off coupon.
The only issue I had was at a later time with a different order attempt. I found a file cabinet on clearance in an actual store, but needed two when they only had one left. Going on-line I found the same file cabinet, but it was priced at the regular price. When I tried to order it, I was told it was out of stock. Unfortunately, no other local store had it in stock either. Office Depot's reasoning on the price difference was that local stores sometimes have different prices than the on-line store (I do agree and understand), but if the item is a clearance item why wouldn't the on-line store have it as clearance and why were they still "selling" it when it's discontinued and out of stock.
All in all, my experiences with Office Depot have been positive. This review was modified by its author, The Merg, on

They have some great deals and often sends me coupons.
Made 3 purchases in the last 2 months and rec'd my orders within 2-3 days of the order. FAST!
I rec'd the wrong item, just a box of pens that were the wrong color and they had a new box to me THE NEXT DAY - now what company is going to send a $2.49 item overnight! That's just great customer service. This review was modified by its author, dnj51, on

Just how does a company this BAD stay in business?
Order placed @ 7 AM on 12/14. Showed FREE Overnight FedEx delivery on web-site. When email verification rec'd, showed delivery for 12/18, thought not next day, but OK, would be here in time for Christmas gift for daughter. Bad assumption, on my part.
Was out of town and came back late on Friday, 12/22. Called morning of 12/23 to trace item. Wrong again, they had not scheduled for delivery OUT of their warehouse until 12/28 (also, person who answered at call center could hardly speak English.)
Checked emails, and nope, they had NOT notified me of the change of date of shipping.
Sent a complaint on their web-site, but after the SCAMS they run on their rebates (have an issue with one now), doubt they will do anything about it, other than ignore it. Will boycott this company in total from now on, OfficeMax, Staples, etc. do too good a job and wish I had gotten out to shop now, instead of ordering a camera they didn't have in stock, they showed me!

Very unhappy with Office Depot. Order many of the Pen/Pencil set they had on sale, and they cancelled all of my order except 3 and said it was out of stock. called to ask why and the guy deliberatley hung up on me.

this company deliberately committed nationwide fraud by posting and item on the front page of their website. they made a offer on a laptop computer, which their own staff told me that they didn't have any in stock and the manufacturer didn't have any in stock several hours before the item was scheduled to be available.
so it was no surprise when the product was supposed to be available and wasn't. i called them again, and they said the same thing, they didn't have any in stock and the manufacturer didn't have any in stock.
they committed a federal crime, and they are still advertisilng it for sale, and there is no way of knowing if they will remove the ad.
don't ever shop there, stapeles and office max have the same thing at the same price, only they actually have the items they sell online.

yes, Virginia, office depot does indeed suck. I bought two Hannsg 19 wide screen displays for a great price. about three days after hooking up the one up, the screen goes all wonky. after verifing it was a faulty cable, i took the tech support reps advice and returned the monitor for a different one just in case. here where the fun starts.
I used my debit card for the initial purchase's. well i take the one defective monitor back and they offer the display model since they didnt have any others in the store. this is after verifing that they should have received one "on tommorrows truck". yeah i want the display when i paid for new. especially with the big greasy fingerprints all over the screen. so they offer me another monitor with me paying the difference. no thanks.
they checked the warehouse inventory which said that there were 108 available and they could have it to me on monday. sounds good, right? wrong!!!
i place the order from the warehouse, at which point the csr declines to inform me that all refunds take 5 business days to process thanks to the crap banking system that office depot still uses. anywho, she the gladly enters in my card info(remember, debit card) for the order from the warehouse.(still promising monday delivery). i say to myself thats it all good and happily depart thinking my new monitor will be here monday, no prob.
check my bank account monday morning and about crap myself, seems that they will charge you right away even with zero in stock but remember it takes 5 business day to process the chargeback. on a credit card this probably wouldnt present a problem, except i used my debit card. big problem, now 111.00 negative in my account. freaking sweet!!! i love it when my bank charges me overdraft fee's.
i called twice, once to express my extreme displeasure over the whole charging before shipping thing and the second time when i noticed that it would not be shipped until monday NOV 27th. needless to say i was not pleased as this is my only comp and i have papers to write for school as finals are next week. sorry they cant do anything except explain to me that suddenly the warehouse decided to ship all 108 monitors it had in stock at the same time. highly unlikely you may say, i agree. they did offer me the greasy fingered display again or another monitor they had in stock as long as i pay the difference. again how could i pay the difference whulst owing the bank 111.00 and any overdraft fees thanks to the corporate banking system they still use. yeah i cant.
so now i'm told that they should receive one tommorrow "on the truck" which is exactly what they told me on saturday. i have no comp at home so i have to fight for time on one of the school computers and try to deal with them finding me a monitor. yay!!! way to screw me office depot. was going to buy a desk, chair, monitor and hard drives from them this weekend but i think i wont be able too due to the cluster their inept banking system has caused me. oh and the funniest part is that 6 years ago i actually worked for them briefly. ha ha ha<sarcasm>

On Sep 26, 2006, I order a Hanns-G 19" HU196D LCD monitor from OfficeDepot.com. This deal is originaly $199.99 with $100 MIR plus some freebies including: a CD/Radio/Alarm boombox, a 1GB flash drive.
Subtotal: $239.98
Taxes:: $15.89
Coupon: $-34.99 <-- free 1GB FD
Oversized Delivery Fee: $0.00
Total: $220.88
The price is hot. The shipping speed is not bad. The order arrives in 2 seperate shipments. The boom box came in 3 days. The monitor and flash drive followed up in 10 days (kind of slow).
However, the rebate has a problem (many people got this deal too experience similar difficulty). My rebate was disqualified becasue of invalid post mark date and puchase date. That was totally BS!! They sent me an email a month before the last day to submit. I did place order within the valid period of time (From Auguest to Oct 31).
I called RebateHQ to solve this problem in only a few minutes. I found several people have the same experience without a variety of BS reasons invalidating their rebate. This makes me think that Office Depot is making some efforts not to pay off their FREE LOAN (rebate is borrowing money from its customer without interest). I will never shop at Office Depot again. I ordered two desks using a coupon code I found on a deals website and requested they be delivered on Friday. I received a phone call on Thursday telling me they would be delivered on Friday. I waited all day, no desks. I called at 4PM and they said they were showing them out for delivery, that they deliver until 5PM. No desks at 5PM, I called them again and was told someone will call me Monday to reschedule the delivery.
I was cleaing out my SPAM box on Sunday and got this e-mail from "Problems":
Dear Valued Customer:
Thank you for your recent order. We regret to inform you that we are unable to process your order because the coupon used on the order was applied in a manner that differs from the terms of the offer.
Our offer provided a desk priced at $99 in connection with the purchase of at least three other regularly priced components from selected furniture collections. The promotional price was contingent upon the purchaser meeting the requirements of the coupon. A review review of your order indicates that the qualifying items do not appear on this order. For this reason, we have cancelled your order in accordance with the Terms of Use outlined both on our website and on the order confirmation email that you received. You will not be charged for the order.
If you would like to take advantage of this offer by purchasing the qualifying items, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Service Network at 1-800-GO-Depot as it would be our pleasure to assist you.
Sincerely,
Office Depot Customer Service.
Needless to say I am all sorts of pissed off at this point. They wasted my whole day Friday waiting for them telling me it was out for delivery and I find an e-mail (which was from Friday night at 5:30PM) telling me that they canceled my order.
Now, I can't get anyone at Office Depot to respond to e-mails about the situation. Trying to call them is a joke as well as nobody seems to have the authority to do ANYTHING. Beware, don't shop at Office Depot if you don't want to get royally screwed by them.

First off, I was given so many different order number who knows which one I should enter.
If I could rate Office Depot’s telephone support something in the negatives I would. Seriously, fire your customer service staff and get some people there that I can understand. When someone cannot say the name Michael correctly you have big problems. The best thing I can say about my experience is that it should be over. I say should because I am still getting calls to deliver what has already been delivered.
I have never had any problems in an actual Office Depot store so when one of the sales people told me to order the Knollwood 3-piece set online I didn’t think twice about. I made the mistake of assuming their online service would be equal to that of their stores. Wow, was I wrong. First I attempted to order the set online however it was not reflecting the sale price of $259 which was a steal. Instead it was trying to charge me nearly $500. On October 24th I phoned my order in. They tried to say this was an in store sale only however there was nothing in the ad or the store that said that. My order was placed. The executive desk and corner work center were set for delivery the next day while the hutch was scheduled for Thursday. The next day, Wednesday, I received the executive desk and corner workstation. Thursday I asked if I could reschedule my delivery to Monday and the gentleman said no problem. He was one of the friendliest deliverymen ever.
Sunday I decided to put the desk and work center together. I put the desk together and decided to keep it even though the top had a rough spot. I then turned my attention to the work center and realized they had delivered the wrong one. I called and they said no problem that a replacement would be delivered Tuesday.
Monday 10/30 – no calls and I did not receive my hutch. I figured they wanted to wait and bring it all on Tuesday.
Tuesday 10/31 – no calls and no delivery. I call the delivery guy and he informs me that Office Depot had suddenly decided to change delivery services and that my hutch was handed over to them. Toni was once again very nice. So I call Office Depot and they tell me that they deliver up to 7 so not to worry. I didn’t get my furniture that day. I was upset since I need to open my business.
Wednesday 11/1 – I am on and off the phone all day with them. One rep calls and says my hutch was on backorder. I explain that isn’t true because the former delivery service said he turned it over to the new service. The another rep tells me no it will be deliver Thursday and yet another calls and says it is on back order along with my corner desk. I was sick and tired of the mixed messages. They had no idea what they were doing. One rep said they would send me a luggage set for free for my problem. Great…let me hold my excitement back. After I am called again I ask for a supervisor and speak to Val who was very nice. She told me that the hutch was on backorder and that my corner desk would arrive Thursday. She agreed to give me 15% off my purchase and to call me Friday to update me on the progress of my hutch. I asked about getting one shipped from a store and she said that was not possible since that is their inventory. Excuse me but I do believe that is still Office Depot. Anyway I take my refund and hope that my corner workstation arrives the next day.
Thursday 11/2 – I get a phone call from the carrier service that they have a corner workstation and a redelivery for my hutch. Needless to say I was surprised since I was told my hutch was on back order. Then again I wasn’t too surprised since I knew that it was suppose to have been delivered earlier that week. The delivery guys leave the furniture and take the wrong unit back with them. They had to write up a pickup order since Office Depot didn’t mention anything about picking up the wrong unit. Sure I could have tried to keep it but it was a cheap piece of trash and I didn’t want them charging me for it. The good news is I have my furniture.
Friday 11/3 – it should be over right? Wrong. I get a call from Val saying my hutch is on back order still. She had no clue that it had already been delivered. She was surprised when I told her it had. Not long after I get a call from the carrier service attempting to deliver my corner workstation that had already been delivered. How many orders did they put through? You would think they would have a better tracking system than they do.
My experience with them was bad to say the least. I will never order anything via phone or internet from them again. I will likely stay clear of their stores and shop at Staples.
Office Depot…you have lost my business both personal and professional. I am going to buy a color laser printer from Staples since Office Depot doesn’t want to treat their customers well.

Ordered some pens online for instore pick-up about 6 weeks ago. When I went to pick them up they told me they didn't have any of those left in stock. This is what they did for me, they told me I could have any of the other boxes of pens at half the cost. I said what was I going to do with allmost 500 pens, so i took 2 boxes of the foray pens which were almost the same ones I ordered and they threw in a 12 pack of G2 Pilot gel pens. When I went to pay for the items he looked at my receipt from when I placed the order using my credit card. The manager said they are paid for have a good day, but as of right now they still haven't charged my credit card. Oh well.
