I spent around $700 for a hitch, rack and installation. When I bought the hitch they told me it would only take an hour to install and it took 3hrs. When I asked them to honor an Eastern Mountain Sports discount on the bike rack they said they couldn't do it after the fact and would charge me a "restock fee" for returning the rack on the same day (they had it in stock already). There was a $65 difference between theirs and Eastern Mountain Sports offer. Also charged me for installing the rack without telling me there's a charge. I'm honestly disappointed in the way I was treated as a customer. I wouldn't recommend anyone use them. This was the Boston store. This review was modified by its author, sandcipr, on

my experience at rack attack was not as expected. my original order (which was posted on line as available) ended up not available so i had to go with another model which was well over my budget. i did not even get a discount on my new purchase for the inconvenience. because i had to get another model the next day, i had to purchase a 2 day delivery instead of the original 3 days. again i had to pay more and again i was not comp'd for the inconvenience.
the next day i tried to price match my order (hoping this company can do something for me) because i saw the same exact item on another website for 20% less. unfortunately their policy is if the item has been shipped they cannot do any price matching. i would have understood this news at the time if this policy was clearly stated in their website. i have been to stores that price matched after you purchase the item. i thought it would be the same for this company since they claim to have 100% guarantee their on line prices. i was wrong.
not a good experience at this store. they need to work on customer service. making sure the customer feels happy or appreciated is very important. i spent over $500 at this store only because under the circumstances, i had to. i wouldn't shop here again.

I made the order and received confirmation. Then the next day I received an email saying that the order is placed on BACK-ORDER because the items are not in stock. I ended up calling Rack Attack and asked them to please cancel my order. I ended up ordering from another bike shop in Austin, TX. No issues. Received it in less than 2 days. I contacted the closest store after finding a roof carrier for my kayak that was supposed to fit the factory cross rails on my SUV. I spoke twice to two different sales people, then I placed the order, and after 24 hours was notified by email that the rack I ordered would, in fact, not fit the factory rails that I had and would have to purchase theirs for $215.00.
Their sales people do not know their products and I would never attempt to order anything from RackAttack again.

I was actually really disappointed with Rack Attack's customer service and their shipping methods. On their website it SAYS they are the FASTEST way to ship any cargo boxes, racks, etc., however they are not. I waited a full week for items, and paid over $20 more for shipping with Rack Attack then I could have at other online retailers. Their customer service was also terrible. I called them several times and could only get a voice recording telling me to check out their website. After spending over $700 on their merchandise, I should have been connected with someone immediately. My packages were seperated some how in transit, one package did not arrive on time and was essentially lost for a period of time while I got all of my other packages on time, they still were not delivered to me within 2-3 days. It took 5. After contacting UPS several times, they told me I should have originally received 2 tracking numbers but Rack Attack only gave me one. The second one was only given to me after e-mailing Rack Attack twice (since they don't answer their phones) about not receiving my final item. After over an hour on the phone with two different shipping companies and Rack Attack, I finally had to go pick up my cargo box myself. Over all, I will never shop with Rack Attack again, nor will I encourage anyone I know to do so either.

Well, rack attack sent the package Canada Post. The shop i bought the kayak from is pissed-off because they need the space, and i'm still waiting for the rack so i can pick it up. Since shipping was "free" rack attack chose the worst possible carrier. I would have paid for UPS or someone reliable if i knew this. So, no, i won't be recommending them to anyone. On Thule's end, i still don't know what about the rack is worth $450.00 ??

service was prompt, but the item was not as described and not all of the pieces matched. It would of cost too much to ship it back so I had to purchase the right item from another source, very disatisfied

traumachef,
The details on the Yakima Universal SNAR are clearly laid out on the product details page, http://www.rackattack.com/product-pages/yakima-universal-snar-snap-arounds.asp.
The SNARs work with all Yakima accessories however they are limited to Thule Bike Carriers, and will not work on anything else. You should see this covered in the 4th bullet point. |

Price was competitive and Rack Attack claims to offer the fastest delivery but that was not my experience. Their policy states that UPS picks up 9:00am - 4:00pm(local time) and that orders placed outside of this window will ship out at the next available scheduled pick-up time. I needed my order in three days so I opted to pay the additional cost expecting the order to be shipped the same day. Rack Attack did not ship until the next day thereby delaying my departure by hours. Customer service at the Golden Colorado store was worthless and did not return my calls. Will never order from them again.

I ordered a Yakima rack via phone order after reviewing their website and received confirmation via email that it would be processed and shipped. They did not mention the product was out of stock. However, 3 days later, they wrote to me indicating so and there now was a delay. After calling them, they were unwilling to acknowledge error or make any adjustment. Upon writing to them, I asked for overnight shipping and instead they did upgrade my shipping from ground to 3 day ground. The product did finally arrive and was fine.

I ordered a thule roof rack for my pickup. First online, then using their 1 800 number. The first salesperson I spoke with took an order. Next day another salesperson called me and told me I had ordered the wrong rack for my particular truck. I appreciated the call, and ordered the right rack. Well it's been over 3 weeks, and still no rack. I appreciate the offer of free delivery, but one of the reasons I chose this retailer was the fact they're in Vancouver and the shipping should be one week or so. When I emailed about the delay, they answered that my rack was being shipped directly from Thule and would arrive shortly. That was over a week ago. Where is Thule, in Sweden???? I'm supposed to go on a trip in a couple of days and need the rack. Oh well, that's what I get for living in northern B.C.

The order came fast. I am a little surprised that you guys put decals on everything. I don't want to make a big deal about it, so I didn't call and complain. But I am one who doesn't like bumper stickers and I like a clean looking car. If I buy a piece to my roof rack at EMS, they wouldn't put an EMS decal on it. I probably won't order from RACK ATTACK again unless I make sure there would be no "Rack Attack" decals placed on my item.

Order was received quickly. Unfortunately 2 of the bars on my Thule Moab 690 Rack were slightly dented and one screw was missing. I also saw the rack for about 45.00 cheaper (on sale) at REI.
The rack was still usable and I got the screw replacement at Lowes.
If it was a brick and mortar place I would have brought it back, but to disassemble the whole thing and try to ship it back was hardly an option so I ended up keeping it...

I have had both a positive and a negative interaction with Rack Attack.
Rack Attack is my local Yakima dealer. Needing a rack system, I went online to see which parts I needed and promptly ordered a half pair of lowriders. The next day, I received a phone call from Rack Attack stating that they had sold out of this item and would no longer carry it as it had been discontinued. I am confused as to why they would even list this item if this were the case.
Shortly after, I received this item, having ordered it from Backcountry Rack. I was having problems transferring my core locks from my old Q towers to the lowriders without the blank key and Rack Attack happily did it for me. They also helped me loosen up a seized Q tower.
