Sent the wrong item and did not want to refund shipping even though their policy clearly states that they will in a case such as this. Big hassle and delay. I no longer shop through their website.

Worse than Dell. Ordered 4 - 512MB SD memory cards. While placing online order Sears said "unavailable from Sears.com but available for local store pick-up." Placed order, then got email saying store was out of stock but they'd be sent from warehouse for pick-up by 12/10/03. On 12/10/03 I sent email in AM; no response by late evening so I call 800#. This guy knows nothing; transfers me to someone at local store who tells me "your order is either on backorder or on a truck headed for the store." Duh! She transferred me to the local store "manager in charge" who said she would look into the matter & phone me back within 30 min. She did! She caught Sears.com lying to her; best estimate of availability (if ever) 1/13/04. Sears charged these items to my charge card on 12/2/03. Sleazy business practices at Sears.

My first experience with Sears came when my parents gave me a new computer for my birthday.
To begin with, their computer line-up was a total rip-off. Their notebooks consisted of 500MHZ, 6GB, 64MB of RAM, Intel Celecron, and Windows ME. All this for a bargain of $1200 and up, what a deal! Of course I could not complain, since this gift was a present to me, and I had no overall choice to begin with.
I was given a Compaq Presario 12xl325 model. Basically a plastic toy with a few gadgets installed. I must have had this thing repaired more than 30 times with Compaq itself. The whole thing was falling apart, the plastic casing was cracking, the whole operating system was out of whack. I mostly shift the blame on Compaq itself for even thinking of constructing such a computer, but I thumb my nose at Sears for ever selling such a terrible computer, at such an outrageous price. (If only my parents knew better)
My problem was with their repair services. Sears refused to repair the computer until my 1 year warranty was over with Compaq. After servicing my computer with Compaq many times before, I figured I wouldn't have much of a problem servicing it with Sears once my Compaq 1-year warranty expired.
Once more, my computer was in need of repair. Only this time, the computers HD was kaput. Sears did manage to fix the problem, but only temporarily. After receiving my notebook, everything seemed to be working fantastically. It seemed as if Sears did manage to fix the HD with an even better one, but failed to reinstall my 256MB memory stick, which I personally paid for myself. At first I wasn't really ticked, since I did get an even bigger HD to replace my old one, and I also contacted Sears about my memory stick, and was told I would get that replaced too. So when I received my new memory stick, I was a bit annoyed that they had sent me a 128MB memory stick, instead of my 256MB one.
I didn't bother to report the error, since they did reward me with the new HD, but little did I know, there was trouble ahead of me. Everything worked great at first, but then about a week later, the HD failed me once again. I quickly suspected Sears to have replaced my old HD with another old HD. So now I was stuck with another bad HD, and 128MB less of RAM.
I called them up again and reported the problem, and was told everything would be fixed. The computers LCD cover was cracked by now, and the computer was falling apart, due to normal wear and tear conditions where I had nothing to do with it, and the plastic on the computer was simply made of recycled garbage. I added this to my report, and had my product shipped out on the 8th of August, 2003. Today being the 29th of August, I suspected my product would be repaired by now, so I decided I would call them up to check on the progress of repair.
I was told that my warranty doesn't cover cracked LCD's, and if I wanted to, they could repair it for $520 USD! I was completely shocked, since #1. They would charge such an outrageous price for a cracked LCD plastic cover, not LCD screen! And #2, they refused to repair my computer the whole 3 weeks I had been waiting for it to be repaired, since they felt the cracked LCD plastic cover was done by my abuse! I explained myself thoroughly as to how the cracked LCD cover came to place, and how it had nothing to do with the HD itself. And what completely baffled me was that throughout the whole 3 weeks, they never once bothered to call me up and explain the situation. If I never bothered to call, they would have never bother to inform me that my computer hasn't even undergone repair.
I was then put on hold, and told that they could get back to me in 4 days, since this is a holiday weekend. And then figure out if they can repair the computer or not. The horror! So now i'm stuck without a computer for 3 weeks now, and who knows how much longer I will have to endure this pain. Thanks a lot Sears!

No computer purchases done at Sears. Bought TV for 480. 3 weeks later, found Bestbuy price 100 less. Took website page with price to Sears....no questions, received 100 refund plus 10 additional refund plus sales tax refund on difference for total of 116.60 back. I'm sure this would apply to the few computer items they carry.

I have never been more disappointed with Sears since the past few months. My great grandmother worked in this store for over 35 years, and the name has grown up with me since I was young with my father being a Professional Mechanic and owning the Craftsman Brand.
Back in 2000 I bought an HP Printer on sale, it was a $300 printer, I got it for like $200. I bought the 3 year protect plan (Meaning if it EVER broke I would get a new one of the shelf.) I also bought a scanner a few weeks before with the same plan. Well, about 2 years go by, and the scanner starts to get blurry, I take it back. They no longer have scanners for $150... they have a SCANNER, no (S), no scanners, just ONE SCANNER. It is $99, $50 less than my old one, a little smaller, but it will do.
A month goes by, the printer starts to fail.
Well, the sears in Columbus, GA is moving, so I rode up to Auburn/Opelika. Since I got my printer on sale, they REFUSE to give me one that even closely equals the same value as my old one. At first, since they don't have but ONE Printer in stock on the shelf, he goes online and gave me a number to tell the HUB to order. I asked could I see the model, he showed me, and it was a 4x6 photo printer ONLY. I told him that was not really a printer and he actually told me I wasn't getting anything else, and became extremely rude! I asked if I could view the models, he wasn't even on the right page to view all the printers sears carries, he typed in PRINTERS, yes, with an S. I got to the main page, and we finally agreed on an actual printer that was the same price as the small 4x6 printer, but not the same price as my old one. I even talked to the Store Manager who basically told us that was our bad luck. So I got stuck with a much cheaper printer AGAIN.
We needed a new Cooking Range, and there was a few models with 3 different sales prices listed, yes 3. So we asked for help, before we EVEN asked our question, this lady starts running her mouth about this one does this, and that one doesn't. We told her we already had a choice but was concerned about the different prices. She said we would have to find out at the register... we then asked because this was a Gas Range, did we have the Propane change over kit inside. She proceeded to tell us no, we would not get it, and UNLESS we paid to have them DELIVER and INSTALL this we would not get the kit, that we thought was required by resellers to provide this by Federal Law. Over the phone they said this WAS included, however she argued, so Sears lost $700 that day, and we went to Lowes.
I decided to purchase some tools (In the Auburn Store), that were on sale to the Craftsman Club Members, this store did not have the sales paper with them, and of course I didn't have mine. After this guy played on the Internet for OVER 30 minutes, I urge him to call someone. He goes in the back, comes out, then calls. He gets on the phone and asks if they have "axes" on sale... of course it wasn't axes, it was all fiberglass handled garden tools, so they acted lost, and he hung u. He acted like he was finished with me, so I dropped all the items on the counter and walked out. After the rude Store Manager, "Roy", and all the crap with their half stocked store, I will NEVER GO BACK!
I placed an order online last fall, it was a simple order, for some Socket Racks that were on sale. Well, I choose to pick them up in the Store. After 3 days of not receiving notice of going to pick them up, I call. I had two orders, one on a Business account and one for my own personal use.
Well, FOR SOME reason my cards were charged, the orders were never processed, and after spending the next 2 weeks on the phone and many ideas they finally opted to have them shipped to me...
However there was problems with this. I got them on Sale, so what they did was... I already had these orders on my credit cards, then SOMEONE added them AGAIN trying to get the order processed according to them, THEN they wanted to do this a THIRD TIME. However they had to charge me the FULL Price, add the shipping, then Credit Me. Of course they didn't credit me for WEEKS, I finally called and basically threaten to call the BBB, they instantly credited my cards, however I did loose a couple of dollars somewhere down the line... I don't know who or how. The orders were each under $25, you would have THOUGHT that a company this LARGE would have said after 3 weeks, sorry sir, we will credit your cards and mail this small order to you free of charge, right away. BUT NO. The put people on the phone who wanted to argue with me that my card was NEVER charged... however I gave them my Credit Card Information, they called, and did apologize that I was right. The Irony is, a few weeks after I did get my orders via UPS, I got an Email stating my Items were ready for pickup. That was after 5 weeks!
I hope when the Store in Columbus moves things will work out, and when we get some new leaders and the economy gets better things will be back to normal.

I purchased a HT theater home sound system, total.$1087,00
The salesman couldn't get me the total system he had to sale me 3 different systems, he said? He also sold me an in home maintenance package?
Got home to set up the theater and what you know? I had to phone the in-home installment people. GAWD.. . Now the Tricky Part, is finding the installation Peoples Contact Number.
NO ONE at my Columbus OFFICE Sears location new of this Contact Number?
It took 4 hours to find this person that was located 1-1/2 from my home outside
of the Columbus Area. And when we finally made contact the guy was clearly
as feminine as my daughter and very difficult and disturbing to listen too? I spent
over 100 to have my sound system connected up for my home viewing pleasure
This is not the first time Sears has gave me the installation run-a-round.
I spend a lot of money in full on retail and I will never shop at sears AGAIN!
Today's retail focusses on services rendered once payment is made. Instead of
services rendered once service is completed!
