There are reasons why these chains of stores are always in some type of financial trouble. I ordered a PS3 for in store pickup, though the site said the store had it, they had none. I was then diverted to place the order online via the store. They promised me the package by Tuesday at the latest. It is now Thursday, and the tracking info for the package reads "Billing Information Received" which means the unit isnt even shipped. I now have three games, a controller, and no PS3. Though the PS3 is a great unit, buying from sears is one of the most inconvenient and ridiculous shopping experiences Ive had.

I have recently ordered a 52" LCD TV and stand, a PS3, and various other smaller item both from my local store and at sears.com. Every purchase went perfectly - they even showed up at my door with the TV exactly when they said they would.

BAIT & SWITCH
Ordered a Black & Decker Heat Gun ($24.99). Drove 14 miles round trip to the site to store pickup. Was told they only had another model of the same brand. Turned out it was $59.99. Asked if I wanted it or not. Did nothing for me. Waste of time and money and a hold still exists for ~$27 on my account so I'm stuck and can't get anything done on my only day off.
WASTE OF TIME, MONEY, AND GAS. Ebay/Amazon is more reliable.
Ninja Edit:
Product is still listed as "IN STOCK" at Hayward location where I was denied. This review was modified by its author, skylinedo, on

I placed an order online for an LCD TV to pickup in the store. Received an email 20 minutes after placing the order that is was ready for pickup. 2 hours later I received a call from the store saying the TV item was not available, just a floor model. Guy told me he would call me back after seeing when the TV may be back in stock. Two days later, I had never heard back. Called sears.com customer service and cancelled the order. In the meantime they had already charged by CC for the item. They promised the refund would be back on my account within 3-5 busines days. Now 6 business days later, the money still is not back in the account and after another call, they say it will take 3 more business days. Never again, I may have to file a dispute just to get my money back.

Ordered 3 bikes back on 11/28/08, they sent me bike strollers/trailers... Called, and got mgmt after not being able to get through to them, but she wanted nothing other than to say that "I didn't order the items properly" and it wasn't their problem, and I would be responsible for shipping these back to them! I asked to speak to her mgr, not avail, asked for his # and / or for her to leave a msg to have them call me back, ABSOLUTELY REFUSED! Call customer relations, they said they have nothing to do w/Sears.com, transferred me back to the same *****. - after fighting them for days, I got smart and thought about slickdeals.net to see if others had seen the same problem... apparently MANY had the same issue and even though SEARS wouldn't substitute another bike (they were "out of everything", though I could go on their site and see that was a lie!), I found out the factory had 4000 of them sitting in their warehouse! Sears continued to lie and say it was the warehouse that screwed up and continues to put blame on everybody but themselves! I was forced to place the order again, but had to call them and they had to enter it to get the proper price... AGAIN, they screwed up!... got my invoice of what's on the way, they say I "have to wait until (the screwed up order, they screwed up), gets here, then I have to send it back, it has to get through the distributer's system and THEN, I have to call back again (to get a braniac) to screw up ... I mean place my order again! Long story short, bikes order after Thanksgiving, still aren't here, and I should have realized back in May after they screwed up my 1st order, and didn't get good help that they're nothing but morons... BOYCOTT SEARS.COM!!!

Bad experience. I ordered an mp3 player from them on 12/10 for local pickup. The next day, I receive an email confirming that my item is ready to be picked up. While I was driving to the store, I got a voicemail from a sales rep who said that they're out of stock. He suggested that I call another store to see if they have it. They don't.
I order one off eBay.
I email Sears support twice to see if my card has been charged, or if I have to cancel the order seeing as how they're unable to fulfill it. The second time, they tell me I then have to call the store to cancel the order. And then, if I like, I can re-order the item to be put on a waitlist for double the price I was initially supposed to pay.
I've encountered problems nearly every time I've attempted to order something from Sears.com. They strike me as something of a retail dinosaur that hasn't managed to adapt to the e-commerce platform.

Called and went online to order a Panasonic Plasma 42" tv. Paid, got confirmation by email, drove 20 miles to pick up and they didn't have the TV and could not order it. Smells like a bait and switch to me. When i got home I got another email canceling my order. Bottom line do not buy unless you can see it.

I had to drive for 2 hours, spend 4 hours on the phone, and $20 in gas for a $27 item that was supposed to be delivered to my home. This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Jennifer
the manager was the most incompetent person I have ever encountered, putting me on hold without checking back in for over half an hour. I was never asked if I could be put on hold. TERRIBLE.

I'm writing this again because Resellerratings for whatever reason didn't post my first negative review. I assume someone here works for Sears.
Sears DOES NOT HONOR their own policies. Just a warning for anyone thinking of buying from them. Its been nothing but lie after lie after lie with them, trying to get a simple pricematch.
I purchased a Logitech cordless mouse from them, thinking I'll just pricematch the local Circuit City store who sells the exact same mouse for over $13 less.
First Sears denied it because it was supposedly a different color. Their own product description proved them wrong, as it said it was blue (they claimed it was silver)... after receiving the mouse, it was blue like I said. So then they denied my rebate due to the fact CircuitCity only had it available for local pickup... what a joke.
They claimed they couldn't read my simple file attachement for proof of the product... because the file was too big?
Finally after enough complaints they agreed to honor the pricematch. They told me to wait 7 business days for it to appear on my credit card. Of course it never did. I wrote back only for them to tell me to call in to speak with them. I couldn't get through the line because it wanted my account number before I could talk to someone, which I don't have (their system at this point had mysteriously corrupted my online order so I couldn't view it).
Next, they claimed they would mail me a gift card for the balance and put the rest on a current empty gift card I already used on this product.... apparently due to the fact they couldn't put it all on my credit card? Which makes no sense. Well the card they sent me gives an error as an invalid card when I check online. The other card still has zero balance.
Its been nothing but lie after lie after lie with Sears. Someone there is having a big laugh over this obviously. This explains why their stock has plummeted the past year.
It doesn't matter what they do on TV for "charity", if they can't even honor their own policies for their paying customers. Instead they steal from them. And yes, that is stealing.

Ordered several vehicle jumpstarters when they were on a good deal, received exacto knives. It said if you have any problem with your order you can take it into the store to return. Drove to the nearest store and spent several hours and they said they could do nothing for me. So I decided to do the return directly to sears.com. Several weeks went by and I received a partial refund. I told them I do not want a refund I want the correct product. BOTTOM LINE VERY, VERY DISSATISFIED. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! SEARS.COM IS TERRIBLE.

Transaction went smoothly. I ordered a clock on a late Sunday night and chose store pick up. An email confirmation was sent immediately after submitting my order. The next morning, I received an email for pick up, went to the store kiosk, and someone was out with my item in less than 5 minutes.
The only negative is that I was not able to retrieve my invoice right after submitting my order because I did not create an online account at sears.com.

Hi,
Wanted to bring my bad experience at local Sears store '51 US HWY 1, New Brunswick NJ' to your notice.
Last saturday (Aug 16), I went to the local Sears store to buy 42 inch Sharp TV (LC-42D64U). It was listed as $1399 on website and it said, I can get additional 10% if I apply for a Sears Card. When I reached there, I saw that same model in open box was $1199. So, I asked about that and the person there told me that he can give me an extra 10% off on that price with a coupon. When I told him that same TV new model is available for $1297 at local store of electronics-expo, he said "we do not consider electronics-expo as our competitior".
That was really bad, but as I need the TV badly, I went for the open box one instead of new one. I picked it up from back side and it was bubbled wrap well. When I reached home and unpacked it, I realised it was missing remote control.
I called up and they said, I can come and collect it. I went again and collected the remote. It said Sharp Aquos on that. When I tried using the remote, it was just doing basic things like on/off, volume and channel. After checking on internet, I realised, I was given remote of blue ray disc player and not TV.
On Sunday morning, I went again to sears and explained a lady the situation. She searched for the remote and told me that they dont have any. I told her that in that case, I will have to return the TV. She said ok.
So, I went to Sears for the 4th time with TV to return it. While returning, another associate came and told me that they can reduce further 10% on TV and can give me a remote. I said ok. After some time, he came back and said, he does not have the remote, instead I can have a universal remote from Sony for free, which is on sale for $15. When I said no, he said, he will give me further $30 off and I can buy Sharp remote. I said let me checkt he price of Sharp remote. I called up Sharp and they said it will be $70. When I told him to give me $70 off instead of $15 remote, he said no and giving me frustrated expressions, while I was the real frustrated one.
After that they took the TV back and told me to go to electronics dept. and process the refund. There again the same story, 2 different people asking why am I returning and sarcasm on, why am I not taking the Sony remote.
Because of all this, I got so annoyed with them, that though initially I was thinking of buying the new one, I just left the store after returning it. And because of all this, I lost 2 days and I am still without a TV. I was moving and did not want to move my 46" DLP TV, but I had to do that because of the Sears staff.
And to make the things bad, I can see them laughing on me for God knows what reason.
This is really frustrating. I have posted my experience on Sears.com, lets see what action they take.

I ordered four items from Sears.com, 3 to be picked up at the store and 1 to be delivered to my house as it was not in stock at the store. Early the next day, I called to cancel 2 of the items that I realized I did not need.
Picking the first item up from the store was very easy and saved me on shipping costs.
The second item arrived at my house a few days later.
The funds for the two canceled items were refunded to my credit card rather quickly.
All in all, a good transaction.

Dear sir or Madam!
In august of 2007 we bought a stakeble washer and dryer from sears.
The applaince was so noisy that we had a repair man come to our house within a week of purchase.
When he left it was still noisy and said that he could not do anything about it. So we disconected the applaiance and proceded to buy a set of washer and dryer from maytag. (it works perfectly). The darn thing has been sitting in my living room up until now. we tryed to call many times to no avail. Each time we get the run around, either the store manager is ugly with us or nobody knows what to do. we have been buying Kenmore applaiances for many years.we are very disapionted and probably will not buy again.
If you care to cotact me My name is CHEF French at 225-359 9431.
I hope to hear from you
