I had purchased a Htc touch dual from mobile planet end of dec 07. After couple of weeks the charger port was not working properly. I called Mobile planet they said to return the phone to bloomington,IL, I did in feb 08. I was told by mobile planet that it would take 6 weeks to reapair. After 8 weeks no answer, i called them up and customer service returns amanda mailed me back saying it is on the way back after repair. After a week I was told the charging port was damaged by user and need to pay$90 for repairs. I filed with credit card to return my payment because the phone was defective. After 4 more weeks I called returns for status on phone, I was told it was scraped by htc because I did not make the payment in a timely maner. How can they scrap a phone which I payed for? I was so mad the returs manager logan chandle is a very rude man he had no regrets in damaging my phone. I asked who is top of you, he said he is the ultimate and could not do anything. This is big frad company I will defend my case in the court of law. I had one yr warranty on this phone and they have no rights to destroy my precious phone. They could not replace the phone which i bought for hard earned money. Watch this site people!!! they are fraud.

Mobile Planet is sluggish with backorders, and they don't reply to emails.
I ordered a hard drive from them a month ago, and it STILL hasn't arrived! The item needed to be backordered, and their site said it would take 9 days to ship. After 9 days, it still said 'item is out of stock and awaiting shipment'.
So I emailed them to see what was going on. No reply. Then I called their customer service line, and the guy told me it would take 4 to 6 weeks. For THEM to get it! That would've been nice to know at the time of my order. He also said he would have the backorders department send me an email with an ETA. It's been a week, and I haven't received that email. I emailed them again, to try to push things along. Again, no reply.
Two unreplied emails in a month, and a broken promise from customer service. Customer service at its worst!

I ordered a spare mount for my Tomtom GPS.
Never received it.
Instead, my credit card was canceled and reissued due to a "high probability of FRAUD". Mobileplanet had charged $2 to my card instead of the $60 they should have, prompting Visa to take anti-fraud measures.
No product, no explanation, and now no credit card.
AVOID MOBILEPLANET LIKE THE PLAGUE!

I received an email stating my order had shipped. I'm in Iraq, but have never had to wait over a week maybe week and a half to receive orders. 3 weeks later and still no package, I contacted their sales support people, they were very short and rude.
I received the package after 4 weeks, the shipping confirmation email stated my package shipped on the 3rd.... the package I received was postmarked the 17th.
I will never use mobile planet again as in my opinion this is just blatantly deceitful.

Bad service.
Placed an order, then had to cancel it because the item was out of stuck (the site failed to point that out during the sale). Got the cancelled item shipped to me anyway 2 months later! Sent back, got refund, shipping fee was not refunded!
Had to contact several times customer service.
They said that I've placed 2 orders with a minutes difference of each other – what ?!?! ...
Fix your system and improve your customer service!

I ordered a 3-pack of stylus for my HP Jornada 720 handheld computer from eXpansys (also known as MobilePlanet.com) to use as spares in case I lost my original. When they arrived the problem was immediately apparent.
The styli I received were over an inch shorter than my original stylus , and too small in diameter to fit in the stylus bay of my Jornada without falling out. My original stylus has a pocket clip that served to lock the stylus to the computer, but the Mobile Planet styli had simple nubs instead of a clip and were completely non-functional either as a pocket clip or to lock the stylus in the stylus bay on the computer. In fact, comparing the styli I received to the pictures on Mobile Planet’s webpage, they were completely different. And yet the sticker on the simple plastic bag the styli were packaged in read “eXpansys Jornada 720 Stylus Pack’.
So I got an RMA# from eXpansys and returned the styli for a refund. Since the problem was all theirs either in mislabeling or misrepresenting their product, I requested a refund of my return shipping as well. After waiting 30 days for them to “inspect” my return I received a refund for the original order amount, but not my return shipping. Looks like I’ll have to contact my credit card company and see if I can start a dispute. Luckily I did screen captures of eXpansys’s webpage showing the styli I ordered, and took some digital pictures of what I received, hopefully these will expedite getting a refund

I placed a order online for GPS system. I realized I order the wrong model. I called the sales phone number immediately only number that is listed that works, after holding for 10 minutes I was assured order was canceled and email was to be sent confirming. E-mail never recieved. Called again next day and still not recieved. still waiting for e-mail to cancel item . Invoice did come through now showing 2 ordered instead of original 1. I hope they truly do not ship or bill. I would avoid this site. Very difficult to change or cancel or reach people. Last call took 4 attempts with wait time to 30 minutes. Still Frustrated and waiting for cancelation notice.

Ordered an Ipod Nano from this company because of a promotion through Audible.com. Got an email instantly confirming order, but asking for additional address information. This was fine. When I called them though I was told the item that was listed on their website as in stock and shipping 1-2 days from order would actually not be in stock for another 28 days. I asked if there were any alternate products that WERE in stock. Was offered an item that cost $100 more and there was only one of those available. They apparently had exactly 1 Ipod (of any model) in stock. Everything else was backordered. However their website makes NO mention of this. I offered to buy the one they had if they'd ship it overnight instead of 2 day as I'd already agreed to pay. They refused and seemed somewhat offended that I'd ask.
I called Audible to see what remedy they'd suggest. Audible said that I could cancel my order with Mobile World and get them to send me an email confirming the cancellation and then they could give me a coupon for Amazon. I agreed.
I called Mobile World back and cancelled my order. I described why I was cancelling and thought they'd try to keep my business. They did not. They assured me I'd get a cancellation email. It has been an hour now and I have no email. I am going to have to call them back again.
AVOID THIS COMPANY!

this merchant was recommended to me by the manufacturer of my PDA, Mitac Mio. The car charger for my unit was stolen out and this was the only place I could find to replace it after a web search of over 2 hours. At first the online ordering wasn't working. I called the phone number and was on hold for about 15 minutes, and then my on-line order finally went through so I hung up. Next day I went to check on my order status and try to get a tracking number. There was no record of my receipt number in the my account section, and it said I hadn't made any purchases. I called the phone number again, sat on hold again, and then finally spoke to someone who made an excuse that they were merging two companies, and somehow my order must have fallen through the cracks. So sorry but it will ship tomorrow. I asked for them to expedite the shipping so I would receive it overnight as I needed it for a trip I was making. He assured me that he would do this. Nope... nothing received. I notice that they have a poor rating here - I can see why. I will not purchase from this merchant again, and hope I eventually receive my item.

DON’T BUY FROM MOBILE PLANTET UNLESS YOU WANT TROUBLE!
I ordered a Belkin GPS from Mobile Planet. Immediately I noticed the device was used. The scuffs and scratches were undeniable. I took the GPS out and it didn’t acquire a GPS signal.. much less a stable BlueTooth signal. So, the product was used.. I called mobile and got a RMA number. I needed a GPS for the trip I was going on. So I got another GPS which I paid for, along with the next day air charge. Mobile Planet got the package but didn’t refund me. I had to call them about it! I spent more than 5 hours on the phone spanned over 4 days with them and the bottom line… The won’t refund me because it was also missing the car charger and software. I didn’t notice that and didn’t report it. That’s the bottom line why they won’t refund me $$$. I called Belkin and they refunded me $$$ via a check. It’s very sad that I went through all the headache and mobile planet won’t stand behind the product they sold. The refund came thru the manufacture. Oh well, I guess Mobile Planet just lost $10+k a year. This had been the ABSOLUTE worse customer service I have dealt with –EVER!

My wife purchased an iPod after being led to believe it would "connect" to our car cd player. Yes, it will connect, but only if you rewire the car.
OK. We got the iPod and tried to return it. MP said it couldn't be returned because of "Apple's policy." Buried in the MP web site (which, by the way, is not compliant with federal ADA guidelines, as my visually-impared wife discovered) is a list of dozens of companies that "won't allow" returns without that company's permission.
We called Apple and they said they didn't know what MP was talking about, and they weren't about to start writing letters to distributors authorizing third party customers to return merchandise.
Called MP back and after a long discussion of the unreasonableness of this return party ("but, sir, that's just our policy") customer service agent Jose allowed that "sometimes" they make exceptions. We''ll see.

Ordered a product that their site said was "in stock" three weeks later it had not even been processed and an "order id" assigned to it. When I called, I was told that it was "out of stock" and they didn't know when it would be stocked. I was forced to cancel my order.
Additionally, their web designers are incapable of supporting multiple browsers efficiently. They seem to be stuck doing IE-specific development.

I ordered accessories for my Treo 600 on November 19, 03 (Handspring double charger and styli). At the time of the order Mobileplanet indicated that the double charge would be available in approx. two weeks. Contacted customer service at that point and item was still unavailable. Was informed that it would be available no later than December 03. Today is 12/31/03 and item is still unavailable. Why? Because it hasn't even been manufactured yet by the manufacturer according to what a rep at Handspring told me. I contacted a manager at Mobile Planet who was very cordial and helpful and informed him of this issue. He aggreed to waive shipping charges and overnighted the other part of my order. Although this was a nice gesture, I should have been informed by customer service at Mobile Planet, when I spoke to them, that the item that I ordered (double charger) was not available from the manufacturer. How can you post an item to sell when the manufacturer has not even created the item for sale. This is a very bad business practice and hopefully will be corrected by Mobile Planet. Until then I would hesitate purchasing from there again.
Update: 12/18/2004-I was looking for a bluetooth headset for my IPAQ 6315. MobilePlanet indicates that a model from Plantronics (M2500_6315) is available. I contacted the manufacturer Plantronics and they informed me that the M2500 is currently incompatible with the IPAQ 6315 and that it drops calls causing the user to "hard reset" the device each time that occurs. In effect Mobile Planet is selling an incompatible device and touting it as compatible. Very poor business practice. I thought I would give Mobile Planet a second chance, but I don't think I will attempt to shop there again unless they change their business practice. Site does not cater too well with PayPal. Customer Service required to fax more information whereas PayPal account is VERIFIED and good standing. Takes too much hustle to go back and forth between PayPal and customer service in order to finalize the order. It defeats the purpose of having financial information verified by PayPal and using the service as a secure method of payment
