I found a motherboard on Lynn Computer Products' web site that I was interested in. The item was marked "regular price" $199, on "clearance" for $139. As vendors with good feedback ratings on ebay are selling the same board (new) on ebay for $169 + shipping, it did not seem at all far fetched to find a new one on "clearance" for $139.
When I received the motherboard, I first noticed that the manufacturer's box was in ratty condition. After opening the box, I found that the contents in the box were in used condition. I immediately contacted Lynn Computer Products and made an enquiry about the condition of the merchandise I received. I pointed out that no where in their written ad did it say that the product was used. Lynn Computer Products stated that it was an oversight and that it should have said "refurbished."
I then advised Lynn Computer Products that I would not have ordered the motherboard had I known that the item was used. Since it was Lynn Computer Products' improperly worded ad that led me to order the board, I requested a full refund including shipping both ways. Lynn Computer Products refused to refund the shipping cost I paid to ship the board to me. Instead, I was given 2 options:
1.) If I returned the motherboard for a refund, they would split the return shipping cost ($7.50 credit) but not refund the original shipping cost of $15 I paid to ship the motherboard to me.
2.) If I returned the motherboard and paid the difference for another motherboard (one that sells for $215) they would waive the shipping cost for that board and also split the return shipping cost.
If I accepted option 1, I would be out of pocket $22.50 ($15 + 7.50) to get a $139 refund.
If I accepted option 2, I would be out of pocket $83.50 ($76 + 7.50) to upgrade the sale (which also puts more money in Lynn Computer Products' pocket)
The most cost effective option for me was to just keep the motherboard. I contacted MSI tech support and gave them the serial number for the board. They verified that it still had the balance of its 3 year warranty.
It was Lynn Computer Products' fault for improperly wording the ad. Lynn Computer Products should have accepted full responsibility and refunded all of my money. Instead, they punish their customers for their mistakes.
You guys decide whether or not you want to do business with a company like Lynn Computer Products.
Edit ==> 5/24/04
I like how they point out that "shipping is expensive....."
They still feel that the customer (me) is responsible even though it was their misrepresentation on the condition of the product. Not cool. I've filed complaints with their local BBB and Attorney General's office. Might not help me but perhaps the next person.

Hi, this board was marked K7DMaster SALE, only 1 left! $139. It was microstar factory exchanged, not used, we have no control over this. It was sold to him with a 1 year dealer warranty, which is our default warranty as stated on his sales receipt. It was in stock for 2 years and the box may have been worn a little. He received a good board direct from Microstar for a great price. He called stated it was used and I said no its Microstar factory refurbished(which are usually repaired or new product)If we had listed as refurbished their would have only been 3 month dealer warranty. He wanted to exchange the KD7Master for the KD7MasterL, the latest version, and I told him fine, we would wave the cost of shipping the new board if he returned the old board. He was unwilling to pay even 1 shipping charge so we compromised and stated we would refund an additional $7.50, half the cost of returning it, which was more than enough to cover his cost to return by ground shipping. We never heard from him again, until now, sorry but shipping is an expense and not always refunded, we would have refunded in full including shipping if the board was DOA or failed but its in working order as far as we know.
IN CLOSING 5/29 We said shipping is an expense NOT "shipping is expensive....." Our return policy is clearly stated on our web site, however we are refunding this customer $15 shipping charge today, but the 30 day upgrade/refund period has expired. I hope he realized he is responsible for return shipping as posted on our website for all defective returns, tradeins or refunds. |

This customer bought a $10 300W ATX power supply that was a new pull(never sold or used before) from new case to upgrade the case for customer order. We told this customer that supplies were bulk and stored together, and hence may have gotten scratched and dusty since they were in stock a long time and were put on sale... Customer claims he received used supply but that is simply not true, and he did admit it worked fine and he has had no problems with it. We offered this customer a refund, but he refused it and said it was working fine. We can't help it if he won't believe us. We have sold many of these same 300W power supplies and never received a complaint. Any scratches would not be visible inside a computer case. |

As our order mall states we reserve the right to change the method of shipment at no additional cost, its not always possible to ship Priority Mail. Sorry you are having trouble with UPS delivery, we contacted them, they
will contact us by end of the day of Jan6th(as we informed you) with results of
tracing and will issue insurance payment. You have delayed getting
replacement order sent due to your refusal to authorization of your credit
card. This is standard policy for pre shipment for just about any company.
We would have been glad to ship replacement order when you first called. If
you have requested chargeback from your credit card company as you stated, then we will
not ship replacements, and just issue a refund and the chargeback will be
reverse. We really don't understand why you are treating us so poorly and
making this so hard to do, you must not be aware of standard policies
regarding lost/defective merchandise, I suggest you check around.
ps There is no 20% restocking on lost orders, they are refunded in full including partial shipping cost on the lost part of order. As far as treating you professionally we were NOT the one who was very vulgar on the phone, and we apoligized for hanging up after your vulgar remarks. We will issue you a full refund on the missing package and partial refund on the shipment. UPS has not yet declared the package lost, and the refund will be issued at such time it is declared lost, as it may still be delivered.
IN CLOSING, UPS finished tracer on Jan 6th, mailed claim form and we issued partial refund on Jan 7th. |

Hi, sorry but we are a small company and do not have the technology for realtime inventory online. All our product pages state to email sales@lynncomp.com for availability. We do list ETA for new, not yet available products. |

This is in reference to two
separate orders sales
numbers: 5763 and 5558 in
jully of 2000
The cooler master fan/heatsink
I purchased failed to adequately
cool the AMD 800 athlon CPU I
also purchased from this company.
It became so hot that the
plastic clips holding the fan to
the heat sink melted and the fan
fell off which allowed the CPU to
over heat and it is now
non-functional. The refused to
take any responsibility for the
defective heatsink or the damage
it caused and after jerking me
around for a wile basically told
it was my tough luck.

This is Lynn Computer Product's response to hartsfang. Its unfortunate we could not replace his processor which was returned to us as burnt as dark as a piece of burnt toast, however we tested the heatsink and the fan was working AOK. Its not possible for a processor to get that burnt with a heatsink in place, we assume the heatsink was not properly sitted or applied and came off after assembly and during use, causing the damage. Nevertheless we can't get a warranty replacement on a burnt up processor, its consider abuse/neglect, sorry. The heatsink mounting was damaged, but the heatsink/fan was working when returned to use...Incidental damage by a heatsink is not covered under processor warranty either. Sorry but if we can't RMA to AMD, we can't replace for you. |

They are not honest, that all I can say. I ordered a $229 motherboard from them. Plus shipping and handling $248.
Their web shopping cart showed $248. However, when I got my credit card bill, I got my suprise. They charged me local tax which was not mentioned when I click on their submit button. If they tell me they are going to charge me tax, I will not buy from them. All their explaination is it was mentioned in their web site. Oh yes, it was mentioned, you have to find it yourself out of the many lengthly word that was printed there. They web design is really bad and not concise at all. It take one time to find those word. Take a look at newegg.com, they show how much they charge for local tax at the time you are buying from them. Not from the time when you got your bill. This is the fist and the last time I will buy from them.

HI, we are honest we did post that sometimes we have to pay sales tax to ship certain parts to certain states, tax laws are complex. We collect Florida sales tax on all orders shipping to Florida, and choose not to collect for other states unless our vendors bill us for shipping parts from them to our customers. We have now posted in our shopping mall in RED so you can't miss it before you finalize your order. |

I purchased an AMD 1400 CPU and motherboard. Upon arrival I had encountered post start up problems. The owner of the company when I called to ask some technical questions about the board was not very nice. I explained that I did a bench test with just the power supply and it still had a few issues not booting. Overall he was VERY rude and wanted to get off the phone.
If I didn't know more about computers than he did, contact the motherboard company (ASUS) and solve the problem myself I would have not paid for it. Overall my buying expierence left a LOT to be desired and I never returned as a customer.

i placed an order for a VisionTek Xtasy GeForce4 TI4600 on around 2/25/2002. The card was listed as not being in stock (as i expected... the card wasn't supposed to come out until March 3rd), and according to the site would ship in "Late Feb, Early Mar". One reason i was placing the order with Lynn Comp was because i had heard they could sometimes get parts to you before the release date, and that estimate seemed to agree. In this case, i wouldn't have minded if it didn't ship until the 3rd, so i was expecting to have the card in my hands by the 6th or 7th (2-3 day priority mail).
Yeah. Right.
After the 3rd of March, i checked the tracking page to see if the order had shipped. It hadn't. i checked the site to see if he'd gotten the card in stock yet. The card was listed at the same price, still out of stock, and had an estimated shipping time of "Mid Mar".
Around the 7th of March, i emailed LynnComp asking whether my order had gone through correctly and why it hadn't shipped yet. He quickly responded that "due to demand" the ETA was now mid-March, and that they would start shipping cards the next week.
On the 15th of March, LynnComp called confirming the order. i was then sent a sales receipt, which listed the order date as the 15th of March, and the shipping date as the 19th. i finally got my card on the 22nd, which i don't consider mid-March, and i certainly don't consider "late Feb/early Mar."
Lynn's prices are fairly competitive, but i'm disappointed with just about everything else. The tracking page, which allows anyone with an Internet connection to view everyone's tracking number freely, is just a bad idea and is very amateur. It is also updated rarely. Apparently "May not be updated every day" translates to "Updates every 3 or 4 days, if you're lucky." The website is badly laid out and poorly organized, and has incorrect shipping dates listed.
The slightly cheaper price i could have easily gotten at a more professional company was not worth dealing with LynnComp. Perhaps if the site is made more professional and the tracking page is trashed for a more private and efficient system, i might give LynnComp another try. As it is, i don't plan on using them again.

HI, well Visiontek pushed the ETA of these new GF4 video cards back a month, he got his card asap, once they were released. This is not our fault. We told him ETA was mid March, he got his card on March 22nd... |

My order did not go thru as I am located outside of the US. But that did not stop them from providing as much help as possible.
Like I said, I did not get my package as they do not ship to freight fowarder addresses which is a bummer, as it is listed with my credit card company and I have made purchases and received them many times before.
Over all, I was satisfied with their service, though it was a bit pricey.

WE do ship to freight forwarders, but there were numberous address and phone number errors on your order. We only ship to international billing address, and your freight forwarder could not verify this. Sorry but your order just didn't pass our thorough card holder verification for international orders. You are welcome to order again, just make sure the above will verify, thanks!

These guys are great. They have been tremendously good sports from the get go. Let me explain: I originally purchased a processor adaptor for my slot 1 computer back in January 2003 that was on sale. It was probably my 1st experience with online buying, and was a little paranoid. We sent them a check, and they never got it ;( So, we were concerned, but Lynn Computers kept the sale price, and we purchased it again, this time with a credit card. It came, no questions asked.
Now the adaptor had a 3 year warranty. I only vaguely remembered who I had purchased the adaptor from when it began to fail. I emailed a company that seemed to fit the profile (turns out it was the right one; they knew who I was and had my old email addy). It took me a while to make good on the RMA# they gave me, but when I returned it, 2.8 years from when I purchased the adaptor with its 3 year warranty, they replaced it, again, no questions asked.
These guys are GREAT.
