Bought a used DVD described condition as "USED-LIKE NEW". I was sent a dvd which was covered with scratches and would not play - it would freeze. I contacted the live chat customer service. I spoke to MARK, his response was used items are final sell. They do not take them back, work or not work, as described or not. I am taking a chance buying a used DVD and MARK signed off on me twice without getting me the manager which I asked for. I had to make a call and spoke to David. It was almost the same thing. I was put on hold. It took one hour the whole thing to hear from DAVID. Their manager said one time return only like it was my fault. I am a customer since 7/2/2003. I bought about 2000 dvds from this site(Empire). It was not right for one hour make me go through hell. Their customer service is awful when you have problem which is their own fault. It is like highway robbery. They don't behave professional. They do not honor their own policy. BUYERS BE AWARE. THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT DVD EMPIRE IS THE WAY THEIR SITE IS SET UP.

Hello,
I made an order worth $210. I chose HOLD until Complete! 10 Days later they shipped the order out totaling $70.
The remaining order was discontinued from the manufacturer.
They never even thought of telling me this until my order shipped out. I would have cancelled this order knowing that the bulk of my order was unavailable.
Now I have to wait 8 weeks for my refund as I have to wait for the items to arrive and then pay from my pocket to send them back!
This is Not the way to treat a customer!
I will never come back and shop with them again!
If you are from AUSTRALIA, do NOT trust DVDEmpire, you will end up a looser in the end as they don't care to find a solution that will make you satisfied at all!
Regards,
|

I made my order on 5/23, and paid the extra $8 for 2nd day air delivery, scheduled on their site for 5/25. Come 5/25, no delivery, and tracking info, now said delivery would be on 5/29. I emailed asking about a refund or credit of the $8 2nd day air fee and was told that my order was received too late for delivery on 5/25 (no matter what their site originally said) and no refund for you. Amazon, where I placed an order after the DVD Empire order, got my order to me on 5/25, as they said they would, no problem. I will not shop at DVD Empire again and will make my displeasure known where ever I can.

Ordered a DVD and still have not received it(10 days waiting). Payed for UPS shipping 3-5 days. Opened 2 online tickets with customer services,Inquiry #: 573946 and no responce. I have been on the chat session over an hour while the lookup my account. There customer service is the worst I have delt with. I'm beginning to believe I will not see this DVD.

My worst ordering experience ever. Despite repeated attempts, company claimed it could not verify the billing address on a debit card I've used extensively and without problem for seven years. Ended up requiring a three-way conference call with my bank - a bank I've used without appreciable problem for more than 10 years. Meanwhile, I sat through two days of some of the worst customer service music I've ever had to endure. Customer service wants to blame this all on my bank, of course.
Not worth my time and effort. Next time I'll save myself the hassle and order elsewhere. This review was modified by its author, basereflex, on

I saw Road to Rome on this site with a very good price, so I went ahead and ordered it on December 21, 2003 with 2-day shipping. Huge mistake. It should have arrived on December 23, but it never shipped. I e-mailed them about this, and they told me it was on "special order" even though there were at least 3 copies in stock when I ordered. Even still, special orders are supposed to arrive in 1-2 weeks. 19 days later, closing in on 3 weeks, the package was still never shipped. I finally got fed up with it and e-mailed them a nasty letter and cancelled my order. BUYER BEWARE. I've read some other reviews here and apparently a few other people experienced very similar problems, so this probably isn't such an uncommon thing to get from this company. Just be careful, it may be worth paying the extra few bucks to buy from a legit company.

Ordered several low cost DVD's, they ran out of stock on all of them and canceled the order without notifying me.

Good prices, very good selection and speedy service (in stock items are shipped the same day, even "free shipping" orders). However, and this is a big but, I've received "shakers" or DVDs loose in their cases (all heavily scratched) in almost every shipment. I've complained several times to customer service about this problem to no avail. Again, it happened with this latest order, and I've had to ship yet another item back for replacement. Company states they check for this problem and that it all happens "during transit". The severity and pattern of the damage tell me it isn't so. Because of this, I can no longer recommend this company, at least not for serious collectors who care about the condition of their discs.

I turned to DVD Empire because of a website issue with Amazon.com. I made a pre-order for a DVD, and was hoping that I would receive the DVD on or before the release date (which is the case with Amazon). That turned out not to be the case as I received the DVD a day after it was released in stores, and it cost me $5 more than the retail price, and that's not including S/H. The delay of the shipment perhaps could've been attributed to the holiday season and couriers being swamped with deliveries, but it was dissapointing to say the least.
Other than that small issue, DVD Empire does seem like a good alternative to some of the more commonly used sites for DVD shopping. The prices are still competitive, and they have a wide selection. Checking the status of the order is easy as well, with all your orders (previous & current) are listed once you log in. So it isn't necessary to go looking for the order # just to find out the status. This feature is becoming more and more popular with sites, and it makes things much quicker.

I ordered a Blu-Ray which was out-of-stock but expected within 7-10 days. My order shipped promptly nine days later, and the disc came in perfect condition. DVD Empire kept me updated throughout the process with good communication. Recommended!

DVD Empire facilitates my purchases through an easy to understand site. Creating an account on DVD Empire feels safe. Orders can easily be changed on your account, without any trouble before shipping. You get excellent control of your order, all the way from ordering to delivery, in Your Account.

Fine selection, although I have bought lower elsewhere, there's always something you're trading away. In this case, one of my DVDs was trampled by the U.S. Post Office, breaking it into several (unplayable) shards. Although this was not tecnically their fault, DVD Empire paid shipping both ways(!), and, upon finding out that they had no more used DVDs of that title in stock, shipped me a _new_ version, at the same price. Exemplary.
