**UPDATE***
Cancel your credit card if you placed orders with them. A few weeks after this all happened to me, I found random charges on my relatively new card and ended up canceling my card.

and file a complaint, it is a very quick process! Lets get them shut down!
now my review:
I bought a camera from these people, after having to call them to "confirm" I got a fast talking sales person (Tom) who said the default battery didn't last very long, but that wasn't a big deal since he would throw in a better one. He argued with me about the warranty, I didn't want it, as I used to be a laptop hardware repair person, so I can fix it myself if it breaks! He eventually let up and let me off the phone. I got a new invoice saying it shipped and that it was for 100$ more than what I agreed to. Called Tom and he said it was because the battery and that the camera I bought was a japanese import which he changed to an american and also added a new battery. So on the phone with him I looked at the page I ordered from and it didn't say import or japanese at all, I called him out on it and he just put me on hold. When he got back on he told me I was getting a great deal. I explained to him I didn't want anything more than what the box comes with, and I wanted to price that I agreed to pay. He kept saying I ordered a Japanese model eventhough the item description doesn't say that. He kept talking about the battery life, so while he was talking I looked it up in consumer reports. Turns out, default battery has a longer life than most digital cameras. I told him that and he kept saying "no it doesn't" I was getting nowhere. He said I could return it for a restocking fee. I explained what a Bait and Switch is, and asked him to cancel the order. He said he couldn't. So I checked the tracking number and UPS hadn't received that package, so I told him to cancel it again saying that they hadn't sent it. He put me on hold. Came back with the same song and dance. So I told him to either cancel the order or I am contacting the BBB and my credit card company to dispute this. He was really rude at that point, so I said "you know the options, good bye". It's been a day and UPS still doesn't have the package. Maybe they canceled it? I don't have my money is for sure. Do not buy from these people, they used to operate under a different name that has the same terrible reviews. Now this is in the hands of my credit card company. I placed an order with RiteBuys and received an email saying that I should call James at his extension. When I called him, he told me that it didn't come with a battery and I had to buy a new one. I told him I already had one and he told me he'd cut me a deal, told him I didn't want it and he started selling me a warranty that I didn't want. I told him I wasn't interested and got the same pitch as the battery. After hanging up I read the ratings here and tried to cancel my order. I spoke to 8 different people in 3 different calls, 3 of whom put me back on hold, 1 of them left the phone off the hook (I could hear work in the background), and 1 of them just flat out hung up. The next person put me on hold again, but picked up 2 minutes later and said it had been cancelled, have a good night, and hung up. I called back and after speaking to someone that put me on hold, I got another person to verify that the order had been cancelled.
STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS

I did not receive the item ordered. When I called customer service to remedy the situation, the customer service agent ended the call before solving the problem. I called back and waited at least 15 minutes on hold to speak with another agent, who informed me that they could exchange the wrong item for the correct one, but I would have to pay shipping to return the incorrect item. When I pointed out that this was unfair, he said that he would send me the necessary form and then "We'll see what happens." I do not reccommend buying from this company. I found the same item from another seller for the same price and wish I had bought from them.

Bait and switch like everyone else is saying. I ordered a camera from them online and after waiting 3 days I never got a shipment notification or anything. So I called to ask what was going on and they gave the standard line of needing to verify my information before processing the order. Then I was told "You know this price is for a non-US model, right? If you want the US warranty you will need to pay another $100." We argued about this and of course it was never advertised as a non-us model. We went back and forth and he tried to get me to buy a bunch of extra stuff and I did add one thing that I needed, but repeately said no to all the other overpriced accessories.
I was treated like I knew nothing about what I was purchasing and a warning to those who don't know everything about what you are pourchasing, these guys will talk you into buying a bunch of stuff that you either don't need or is grossly overpriced. But after standing my ground they fulfilled my order and I received it promptly and it included everything that was supposed to be in there and it was a US model that I verified by contacting the manufacturer.

this site was the worst experence i have had with the web they had a sony dcr-dvd105 on ther web site and i purched 2 of them that sent me the order confermation and i called them on february the 11 and the had blanked my order the guy was very rude and did'nt say anything nice. still no responce This review was modified by its author, grimmtl, on

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS STORE! We orderred 5 NEW 40" LCD units - Samsung LN-S4041D. 4 arrived - 1 not working. Called Samsung - units are REFURBISHED! Customer service is not retuning calls. We are returning units, but are still fighting about restocking fee and shipping charges.

I order the camera, they made me call them about it. Told me I have to get special battery for it (kind pushy) since it doesnt come with it, cost a bit more - I was OK, fine I will pay for that. What could I do - I didnt sound fishy too me... silly me.
Got the camera the folowing week, its defective (battery or the charger or the camera doesn't work).
I had talked to Panasonic they have told me Rite Buys responsibility to replace it. xxxx at Rite Buys 1888 672 1194 told me he will contact me back. no sign of him yet. I called earlier they told their system is down (in very rude manner).
No I just want me refund and nothing else with them! I already sent it back to them (register and tracked). After this kind experience I'm staying with Amazon.
STAY AWAY FROM THEM! AWFUL EXPERIENCE.

Orderd a range for my kitchen and was promissed my item within 3 business days and recieved it next day they had a really friendly staff as well would definilty do business with them again

These guys are crooks. Just waiting to take your money. I never received my order, and they would not refund my money when I asked them to cancel if they couldn't get the camera to me. They did neither. Extremely rude. Will not return calls. They pass you around from person to person and you spend a lot of time on hold.
I was one of the more fortunate ones. American Express backed me and credited my money in full. These guys on going straight to HELL and they don't even care. Unbelievable. This review was modified by its author, mhp, on

Do not waste your time with this site.
After ordering, I noticed the website listed my order status as "Arrived." However the product did not arrive. I called and after declining a callback from the IVR about 4 times, someone picked up, and I was transfered around a bit. Finally, an employee said the product was shipping from their supplier, and that the product status would be updated on the website that evening.
As you can imagine, the status was not updated, emails have been ignored, and 2.5 weeks later I still have no product and no info.
Spare yourself the aggravation and only do business with a trusted online retailer.

My husband ordered a Nikon 18-70mm lens and it was received in a cardboard box...NO NIKON BOX. The manual was attached to the lens with a rubberband. This lens was not NEW in a NIKON box even though it was guaranteed NEW. Our conclusion was that it was either used or returned without the box. They gave us some bull story that Nikon ships all their lenses without their original packaging. We couldn't believe it. We tried to return the lens, but since it was past the 10 days return/exchange policy (it was a Christmas gift and my husband purchased it on Dec. 3, we were SOL. We also purchased the Nikon D200 and I just pray there isn't some defect. Lesson learned...buy only from a reputable camera shop! You don't know what you're getting with this company!

I wanted to share my D200 attempted purchase experience of last week from ritebuys.com
Price for D200 was the cheapest I could find and they had it in stock.
So far so good…
I placed the order and get an email to call Joe Grant to go over the order before it is shipped.
I called and he tells me that the camera does not come with the battery and charger. If I wanted the battery and charger, it would cost me $150 for the battery and $250 for the charger.
This guy, I guess was under the impression that I was born at night, little did he know that it was true, however, it was not last night.
So I told him, OK, ship the camera, lens and package as I ordered for $1,858.99 and forget the battery and charger, I can get both for under $100.
Joe then tells me that this camera is not the US model and the menus are in Chinese and I will not be able to change them to English and if I wanted the camera, I will need to send him an email stating that no matter what, the camera will not be returned to them.
I wished him a good day and instructed him to cancel the order.
I will never buy anything from this outfit.

They charged my credit card when I ordered Cd changer. They kept promising me that it would ship but did not ship for 1 month after credit card charged (after I had cancelled). It took me 1 week to get return authorization after faxing repeatedly. They never credited shipping so I ended up paying shipping both ways.

years and years of online shopping -- this company was the worst experience I have ever had!
Ordered Sony Bravia 46XBR3 (black panel) LCD TV from them on Sunday 12/17/2006. Decided to place my order over the phone because I had questions about expedited shipping. Sales person, Pete, was very helpful and confirmed that they have 3 items in stock available for shipment on Monday 12/18/2006. Since I was planning to pick this item up myself and was asking about the price options, sales person for some reason asked me if I am planning to pay in cash. I said 'No' -- yes, this is the moment where I should have stopped the order but i did not. So I placed my order. Called back on Monday to check if TV was shipped as promised. I was put on hold many times only to find out that they are out of stock and offered me to wait till Tuesday when they will receive more of these TVs. Thank God I found this web site and read about RiteBuys reputation. On Tuesday after I called about my order, their response was that I will have to wait another couple of days so I cancelled entire order -- this was the most difficult part of my experience: after being put on hold 5-6 times and 30 minutes later customer service rep was happy to inform that they did find 1 TV in stock and it was ready for pick up right now. My response was 'too late I dont want to deal with your company and requested to cancel my order at once'. I also notified them that if I dont get email notification that order was cancelled within an hour of the phone call, I would call to credit card company and stop transaction thru them. Customer service rep said something rude and that was the end of conversation. Order was cancelled, credit card never charged (reading other posts I understand it might still happen.)
Overall, horrible experience! Stay away!

Avoid these scam artists at all costs. They were continuously rude, disrespectful, pushy, shady, shifty and frustrating. They added charges to our purchase that we didn't ask for.
