Do not order from this company. I ordered a Canon Sureshot camera and received an email stating that I had to call a certain number to verify my order. I did so and the guy said that the camera's battery was good for only 20 minutes and tried to sell me one for $100+. I said that I wanted to receive the camera before I made any decision about a stronger battery. He was very insistent about selling me that and other add-ons. I was equally insistent that he just send me what I ordered. He finally agreed to do so but said that the camera would be shipped in "two or three weeks." Their web site states that the camera I ordered would be shipped within two or three business days. I have not received the camera so I do not know how long it will take. But I was left with the strong feeling that this was a sleazy outfit. Beware.

Don't buy from them. They don't stand by the deals they offer.
Wisetronics offered a great deal on a HV20 camcorder on their website. I rang and spoke to their sales department to confirm the item was in stock as I needed it to film a wedding in 8 days. I was assured it was in stock and would definitely ship to me within days. I placed my order via the website the same day. After 2 days I received an email stating I had to call their verification department. I did so immediately and the guy started by taking all my credit card details again. He then tried hard to upsell the camcorder by suggesting I purchase a 5h extended life battery for $199, a 2h battery for $99, or extended warranties for 2 or 4 years. I did not want any of these items and had already declined them on the website. He then started talking down the purchase by stating that the camcorder really only came with a 90 day warranty from the manufacturer and not a one year warranty. I asked if this was standard from Canon and was told it was standard....although other websites all indicate that a one year warranty is offered by the manufacturer. He then eventually said they would not be able to ship the camcorder for when I wanted it (and not for another 12 days) as they actually had Chinese versions of the HV20 in stock, not US versions. When I suggested this was not what I had been told by his sales departent and was not fair service he unilaterally cancelled my order "I'm cancelling your order" and immediately hung up on me. The clear impression that I had was that they were not going to sell a camcorder to me unless I purchased expensive accesories - I never asked to cancel my order and in fact had gone through the whole sales contract process both online and by phone.
It seems faceless companies like Wisetronics can unilaterally breach sales contracts whenever it suits them. As a consumer if I tried to do the same thing (i.e. cancelled an agreed purchase) I would be charged 10% of the item price - as per Wisetronics own website "Orders which are canceled after they have been billed, processed [....] will be charged 10% processing fee".
Don’t waste your time buying from them.

I ordered ONLY a Canon Powershot SD850 from Wisetronics.
I received an email stating that they had to speak with me before they could ship my camera. I called using extension 201 (as in email). Jeff then read me back my name and address. Then went into a sales pitch. He offered the extended life battery (because the battery that comes with the Canon Is not a long life batter. Against my better judgement I accepted the 5-Hour Battery for $89 (also offered a 3 hour for $69). Then He tried to sell me a SD Memory Card (1 GB for $119). I told him that I was not interested because I HAVE many Security Digital Cards (I had also seen them for between $10 & $60 for large, fast cards). He tried to sell me an extended warranty, which I also declined. I received the shipment today - Contained all the items ordered plus the SD card, a camera case. The original Total of $315 for the camera was now $559..65. I called and spoke with 3 people who all offered the same things. A rapid battery charger with a car adaptor. If I wanted to return the item - 20% re-stocking fee (although on website it says 10%). It would cost me $98 to cancel order. I was basically told that their records indicate that I DID order this stuff, and that the stuff ordered on the telephone does not show up in my account (although I am unable to find any information regarding my original order on the website). You should definately, under NO circumstances order products from this company. This review was modified by its author, dvgn, on

Wow, ordered a Canon camera.. good price. I was asked to call to confirm. I couldn't get through to them, left messages with no response. Then I found this site. I called my card company and canceled my card. They hadn't credited it yet. I've emailed the company to cancel also. Thanks for these comments. It looks like I was next in line for the scam. Guess I'll go to Best Buy for this item.

Horrible merchant; do not do business with them. They advertised the lowest price on a Canon Camera and showed it in stock. After ordering, they then sent an email saying they needed to confirm the order and I had to call in. They tried to upsell me. I told them I just wanted the camera and they said they would send it. When a week and a half later, I hadn't heard anything, I contacted them and they said it was on backorder for 5-6 weeks. yeah right. I cancelled.

Same thing, its a scam, they added $320 to my order and wont let me return it without taking a 20% restocking fee and 50 more dollars for shipping.... I spoke to them twice and the girl on the phone kept :advising me to keep it, because it was a great deal." Absolutely not, i was just buying a digital camera for $200, not $300 worth of accessories too!! I should have checked this site before purchasing, and I'm calling the better business bureau tomorrow!

I ordered a camera on the 22nd of June on the website. I called to confirm the order. The person on the phone did a big push to get me to buy accessories at 5x their normal price. I said "no". 10 days later, I got this email:
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting Wisetronics.com
Our records are showing that your order is on “Backorder” status,
“Backorder” status means that, by the time your order has got the shipping department, the item(s) you ordered was sold out.
it will take about 5-6 weeks for us to received it back in stock.
If you would like us to cancel the order (no charge will be on your account) please reply to this email with request for cancellation.
Sincerely,
Customer Care

This is a typical bait and switch NY seller. If they cannot make up the margin with overpriced accessories, your order will not ship.
What a joke!

I placed the order on Sunday evening and got an email confirmation on Monday 6/25/07. Everything seemed ok. Boy was I wrong. I got another email from Wisetronics on Tuesday 6/26/07 stating; "In order to further verify your order number 139957, we will need to speak with you on the phone. Please call our Verification department at 1-877-678-8990 (Extensions 203 and 201) so we may verify and complete processing your order." Well, I responded telling them basically to stuff the order and cancel it immediatel and that if I had wanted to order by telephone, I would have done so. After they got my email, they responded with; "Hello,
Thank you for your interest in our company.
For further detailed information please call our sales department at
877-678-8990 option 1
Thank you
Wisetronics.com "
So I sent them another email basically saying the same thing only warning them that I would contact my CC company and tell them to withold payment to them. So I got another email from wisetronics.com saying the exact same thing.
I refuse to call them and they apparently refuse to cancel the order. I this goes on any longer, I intend to contact the NY & NJ Attorneys General offices as well as the FTC to complain about this company. Everyone who has had problems with wisetronics should do the same.
BTW, I ordered a Sanyo HD2 camcorder.
This company really sucks and should be driven out of business.
It is now July 9, 2007 and I guess they got the message and didn't ship anything to me.
They still suck and I will never do business with them. This review was modified by its author, gordo1466, on

I placed an order over the phone, afterward the charges on my cc were more then $200. over the amount, they come up with a totally different answer to make up for the amount. I am diputing the charges, so don't get caught up like i did. They tell you one price on shipping and you pay more, they claim its ins.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY...ITS A SCAM!!!!!
They decieve you and unfortunately I didnt realize this until my order was on "back-order" for almost 3months now. I have attached another similar experience so I wont have to spend an hour repeating the same thing everyone else has. I spoke with a "Vinny guy" who purposely hung up on me, then i called again and he disguised his voice. What a crocked thing they're doing! How do they stay in business???!!! I feel bad for all the other people who cant get their money back. They DO try to sell cheap then upsell you with over-priced crap you dont need. If you dont purchase it then they send you an e-mail stating that they dont have your product in stock. Where is this business...If I find out I will have FBI they in a heartbeat! They should all be thrown in jail for fraud!!
This is taken from the Better Business Bureau Site:
Website: www.wisetronics.com
Type of Business: Electronic Equipment & Supplies-Dealers
The information in this report has either been provided by the company, or has been compiled by the Bureau from other sources.
Nature of Business:
According to complaints filed with the BBB, WiseTronics employs bait and switch sales tactics in order to sell more merchandise. After placing an order on-line, consumers receive an e-mail instructing them to call the company to "confirm" their order. Once on the phone, sales representatives try to sell consumers extra batteries, accessories, and warranties, some of which are included with the camera. When consumers decline, their order is cancelled or they are told that their item is not in stock.
Customer Experience:
Based on BBB files, this business has an unsatisfactory record with the Bureau, because there is a pattern of complaints, and the business has not corrected the underlying reason for the complaints.
PEOPLE WHO GOT SCAMMED....DO SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCES. FILE AN ONLINE COMPLAINT TO THE BBB SO THESE CROOKS GET WHAT THEY DESERVE!!

Placed order on 4/30/07 and received confirmation email. On 5/3/07 I received an email saying I need to call and verify my order. I was told it was in stock and I then received the obligatory up-sell, to which I answered NO to all options/accessories. The guy went from very friendly to somewhat rude when I didn't get any add-ons. Shortly after the conversation concluded, I received an email stating that the item was out of stock and it will be 5-6 weeks on backorder. The email said that if I wanted to cancel, simply reply to the email with "Please Cancel Order #[xxxxx]". I have done this three times and not received confirmation of a cancelled order. In addition, the order status on the website still lists as "pending." Despite assurances in the email that they will "take care of the rest and destroy any sensitive information included your order" they still have my credit card info on file in this pending order.
I do not trust this company and recommend everyone stay away.

WISETRONICS IS CRIMINALLY FRAUD. TOTAL SCAM. I ORDERED A PANASONIC PVGS-320 OVER THEIR WEBSITE FOR $229.00. CALLED THE NEXT DAY TO GET STATUS OF SHIPPING. BAITED TO INCREDIBLY MARKED UP FILTERS AND BATTERIES WHICH I DECLINED. SAID SHIPPED IN 1-2 DAYS. TODAY SHOWED UP AS 'BACKORDERED' .I RECALLED ANOTHER SALESMAN TO ASK IF THEY WERE IN STOCK AND HE SAID YES. CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY SAID "OH YOU ORDERED THE ONE WITHOUT WARRANTY NOT AMERICAN, NO BATTERY, NO CHARGER. I TOLD THEM I SPECIFICALLY ASKED SALESGUY AND EMAILED THEM. DID I WANT TO CANCEL?
I DID OF COURSE. WHAT THEY SCAM IS...IS OFFERING LOW PRICING. IF YOU GET THAT AND NO AFTERMARKET, THEY 'BACKORDER' AND FALSELY CLAIM YOU ORDERED SOMETHING ELSE, SO TAHT YOU WILL CANCEL.
THE 'WEBSITE' THAT POINTED ME TO THEM TOOK OFF THEIR LOW PRICIING WITHIN 20 MINUTES OF MY CALL SO I SUSPECT THEY OWN THIS 'SEARCH' SITE AS WELL.
IMMEDIATELY REPORT THESE CRIMINALS TO THE BBB.
