BEWARE - BEWARE - BEWARE
Wisetronics has a "sister" company called 86th Street Photo & Video. If I had only researched this, I would not have placed my order. I get the same "back order" story. What was once a 1 week back order, is now a 6 week back order. It seemed there were "technical gliches" as to why I wasn't notified. More over, I had some recent Fraudulent Charges placed on the credit card I used.

I found a really good price for Canon PowerShot SD 1000 on this website. Ordered it online and got the email that I need to call to verify my address (turns out it is their standard sales trick and has nothing to do with security).
Which I did. And I received a very quick sales pitch for accessories. Now I usually don't do this without evaluation, but since the price on the camera was so good, I assumed same on accessories (wrong!!).
Fact is, they told me some lies, such as the battery that comes with the camera being very short lived, while their Ultra high life batery lasts and lasts (in reality the Canon battery is 750 mAh, while the way overpriced battery I received was 850 mAh, albeit I was told earlier that it would be 1550 mAh).
Also, they told me that the battery charger was internal and takes overnight, so I need a universal battery charger (which I assumed I do need, because I travel abroad). In reality the charger that comes with the camera charges faster than the universal charger. The only advantage of the universal charger (not worth their price) is the 12V input.
Well, at least I received my stuff in good order and they did not charge me more than was said.
Altogether, my advice is don't buy from these guys. Although they don't cheat in a way that would be trackeable on paper, yet they try to push people into buying overpriced accessories and give misleading information in the process.
Of course you can stick with your guns and only want the ordered item, but why waste your time while there are other places with good prices and honest service. Besides, with their current practice, these guys don't deserve to stay in business.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS WEBSITE. I tried to place an order because they had such a great price anc received an email asking me to call and verify the order. When I called they tried to sell me severely overpriced accessories that I didn't need. When I didn't receive my camera, I called and was told it was backordered for 3 weeks. Upon further investigation this their bait and switch tactic. The BBB.org has numerous complaints or just search wisetronics.com to see all the complaints; I wish I had.

Do not buy from Wisetronics. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) has the following information on wisetronics on its file.
http://www.newyork.bbb.org/reports/businessreports.aspx?pid=44&page=1&id=86867
So the report on Wisetronics is not very rosy, so BEWARE from buying from this company.

Do not order from this company. I ordered a Canon Sureshot camera and received an email stating that I had to call a certain number to verify my order. I did so and the guy said that the camera's battery was good for only 20 minutes and tried to sell me one for $100+. I said that I wanted to receive the camera before I made any decision about a stronger battery. He was very insistent about selling me that and other add-ons. I was equally insistent that he just send me what I ordered. He finally agreed to do so but said that the camera would be shipped in "two or three weeks." Their web site states that the camera I ordered would be shipped within two or three business days. I have not received the camera so I do not know how long it will take. But I was left with the strong feeling that this was a sleazy outfit. Beware.

I ordered ONLY a Canon Powershot SD850 from Wisetronics.
I received an email stating that they had to speak with me before they could ship my camera. I called using extension 201 (as in email). Jeff then read me back my name and address. Then went into a sales pitch. He offered the extended life battery (because the battery that comes with the Canon Is not a long life batter. Against my better judgement I accepted the 5-Hour Battery for $89 (also offered a 3 hour for $69). Then He tried to sell me a SD Memory Card (1 GB for $119). I told him that I was not interested because I HAVE many Security Digital Cards (I had also seen them for between $10 & $60 for large, fast cards). He tried to sell me an extended warranty, which I also declined. I received the shipment today - Contained all the items ordered plus the SD card, a camera case. The original Total of $315 for the camera was now $559..65. I called and spoke with 3 people who all offered the same things. A rapid battery charger with a car adaptor. If I wanted to return the item - 20% re-stocking fee (although on website it says 10%). It would cost me $98 to cancel order. I was basically told that their records indicate that I DID order this stuff, and that the stuff ordered on the telephone does not show up in my account (although I am unable to find any information regarding my original order on the website). You should definately, under NO circumstances order products from this company. This review was modified by its author, dvgn, on

I ordered a camera on the 22nd of June on the website. I called to confirm the order. The person on the phone did a big push to get me to buy accessories at 5x their normal price. I said "no". 10 days later, I got this email:
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting Wisetronics.com
Our records are showing that your order is on “Backorder” status,
“Backorder” status means that, by the time your order has got the shipping department, the item(s) you ordered was sold out.
it will take about 5-6 weeks for us to received it back in stock.
If you would like us to cancel the order (no charge will be on your account) please reply to this email with request for cancellation.
Sincerely,
Customer Care
www.Wisetronics.com
This is a typical bait and switch NY seller. If they cannot make up the margin with overpriced accessories, your order will not ship.
What a joke!

WISETRONICS IS CRIMINALLY FRAUD. TOTAL SCAM. I ORDERED A PANASONIC PVGS-320 OVER THEIR WEBSITE FOR $229.00. CALLED THE NEXT DAY TO GET STATUS OF SHIPPING. BAITED TO INCREDIBLY MARKED UP FILTERS AND BATTERIES WHICH I DECLINED. SAID SHIPPED IN 1-2 DAYS. TODAY SHOWED UP AS 'BACKORDERED' .I RECALLED ANOTHER SALESMAN TO ASK IF THEY WERE IN STOCK AND HE SAID YES. CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY SAID "OH YOU ORDERED THE ONE WITHOUT WARRANTY NOT AMERICAN, NO BATTERY, NO CHARGER. I TOLD THEM I SPECIFICALLY ASKED SALESGUY AND EMAILED THEM. DID I WANT TO CANCEL?
I DID OF COURSE. WHAT THEY SCAM IS...IS OFFERING LOW PRICING. IF YOU GET THAT AND NO AFTERMARKET, THEY 'BACKORDER' AND FALSELY CLAIM YOU ORDERED SOMETHING ELSE, SO TAHT YOU WILL CANCEL.
THE 'WEBSITE' THAT POINTED ME TO THEM TOOK OFF THEIR LOW PRICIING WITHIN 20 MINUTES OF MY CALL SO I SUSPECT THEY OWN THIS 'SEARCH' SITE AS WELL.
IMMEDIATELY REPORT THESE CRIMINALS TO THE BBB.

Ordered Canon Powershot S3. Wisetronics claimed to have this item in stock when I ordered. Two days later I get an email to call and "verify" my order at their Verification department at 1-877-678-8990 (Extension 202). I call and their rep. asks me to verify info they already have, and then trys to sell me a bunch of other stuff. I refused to buy any additional items. He then tells me I will now get free shipping, but the camera would not get to me for 7 to 12 business days. So I wait till May 30th and I see that my credit card has not been charged an I've received no shipping notice. I call them, and after being kept on hold for about 1 hour, I talk to a guy named James. I ask him when my camera will ship and he tells me it will ship in another 5 to 6 weeks. At that point I cancelled the order. Oh, and when I checked their web adds, they always claim to have the item in stock...

Placed order on 4/30/07 and got email to call to 'complete' order. They tried to sell lots of overpriced stuff and I refused and they said that it would be 2-3 weeks to get the camera. It is now June 5th. During each call I made to check the order they tried to sell overpriced extras or a "retail kit" that was available now but the camera itself was not available. If I wanted to spend an extra $150 I could get the 'kit' immediately with all the extra worthless junk but I refused so they again said it would be two to three weeks to get the camera. I searched the web and found Wisetronics still showing the lowest price for the product and it was listed as "in stock" but I've been waiting over a month for it. Their customer service said that she would tell their internet department to update their inventory more often but that's all she could do. I had to wait or cancel the order she said. I canceled the order today. They're using illegal bait-and-switch tactics that many companies have been sued for in the past yet these people are getting away with it... Somebody sue these bastards!

Google searched for the best price for a Canon S3. Wisetrinics beat the rest by a lot. I called them and they assured me they were in stock and everything they sold was brand new. I ordered on line and it should have been shipped on Tuesday. Tuesday I recieved an email to call them and CONFIRM the order. I called and they said they needed the three digit code off the back of my credit card. They had not asked for it in the order process it was just a lie to get me to talk to the sales man that praised my choice in the camera. He did assure me they were in stock and it would be sent out in about 2 days. That was another lie. He tried to sell me way over priced additional accesories that I refused. Two days later on Thurdsay they sent me an email saying they were out of stock. Another lie as I had called early in the day and the salesman said they had the camera in stock. So I asked about my order and he put me in a cue with an endless wait time never to get an answer. THIS COMPANY REALLY NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!!!

This is the email that was sent in disgust to WiseTronics this evening. They should be run out of New York and off the Internet for their bait & switch practices.
+++++++++++++++++++++++
I wanted this camera shipped as soon as possible after I ordered it. Someone called today to get the "three digits" on the back of my credit card, and tried to sell me an over-priced battery.
Nothing was mentioned that this camera was out-of-stock, but now I see that it's back ordered, and you say that it's in the final process of shipping and the order can't be canceled. That doesn't make any sense to any reasonable-thinking person.
I ordered this camera because of your 5-star rating. I've since read that your outfit is a bunch crooks and EVERYTHING is back-ordered unless one buys your extra, high-priced accessories.
If the camera is shipped and verified to me by tomorrow I will accept it. If I don't hear anything by tomorrow, consider that this order has ben canceled by me, and it won't be accepted IF it's ever delivered.
Surely there is a law against the way that you people do business. I've never seen the likes of you in any of my online transactions.

This company was listed as good by the search engine I found them through. I called Wisetronics, was told the camera was In Stock, Before I Ordered that day. A week later, I got a call from a guy who wanted to verify my credit card, then he tried to get me to add some accessories to my order for a Canon PowerShot S3 IS digital camera. I declined to add anything - their accessories are high-priced and unnecessary. I was told the camera would be sent out. Four Weeks later, I called Wisetronics, as the site listed my order a backordered. I was told it would be another 3 weeks. Three Weeks later, I called again and was told it would not be available until the end of April. I asked to be connected with a Manager - and was disconnected. I called back and asked again to be connected with a Manager - and was disconnected again. Reaching a salesman takes less than 5 minutes; reahing Customer service takes on average 20-30 minutes. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!

I had the same exact experience as everyone else that ordered from this company. Super low price, then sales pitch about "something" additional you need to order (in my case a digital camera battery regular price $150, now on sale for $100. I opted out and next day I received an email that the camera was backordered. I placed another order 2 days later because the camera was now $20 less. I talked with David and said the item was in stock for that low price. Again the pitch for the battery, I opted out again and the order was NEVER placed!!!
One word of caution, Wisetronics is affiliated with Broadway Photo and Video. On several occasions when I clicked on Wisetronics website, Broadways website popped up but the item was at a higher price. If you ever dealt with them, you know who you are dealing with. That culture has a different way of doing business
and that's mainly to screw you out of your money.
IF THE PRICE IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, THEN IT'S A SCAM!
