Um, winXP on a Cyrix 233 with 96MB of ram? Only if you're a masochist.

It should run Windows 98 nicely though. I'd really like it myself, but I can't seem to justify it .

Opeth, does the battery hold a charge or does it only run on AC? I know a lot of the older batteries don't hold charges and when they do it's for a very short period of time.

I think WinXP requires 128 MB of memory to run.

About the battery, it can't hold a charge.

Hey Opeth,

I have one of those 1230's , the battery has never been any good.

The ribbon cable to the LCD split and that took for ever to source a new one as one has to buy a complete screen from Compaq just to get the cable.

I have it currently running W98 and dual booting to W2k. It runs 2K alright with (98Megs of RAM tho.

Perhaps you should consider giving it away as an Xmas gift.
