Cable box with remote ($70 shipped)

Well, I found my previous cable box.
It was lost after I had moved to my new place, so the cable company charged me $260 for losing the box.

I found it and I am selling it.
A mod chiper could do wonders with it.

Have you tried to give back the box for a refund?? Selling a cable box could be a lot of trouble.

I don't see what's wrong. He paid for it, so he owns it. And I doubt any cable company would buy it back at (what they told him) it's worth.

Thinking about it, I was charged about $350 each for my two cable boxes when I moved and got lazy about returning them. They (of course) came and got them when I told 'em that I wouldn't pay that.. companies really don't like sending people to collections, it still costs $$ when they don't pay.

I really like (if you can't tell) using parenthesis @ 3am.

actually I think even with the fact that you paid for a replacement it might be illegal in some states to sale it due to the fact its technically not yours {whole rental deal with cable comp}

but one thing you might note is what cable company it was used for as some boxes aren't compatible with other companies...looks like the one we have for comcast/att

Believe me, I tried. They said they would not give me a refund because it had been well over a year.
I definitely tried to go for the $260 first, much more than $70.

Also, the sale of cable boxes is not illegal at all.
It is the misuse of it to steal service that is illegal.
Plenty of places are selling them, all legally.
In fact, you can buy your own box and have the cable company reduce the monthly fee by the rental fee.

Some are even selling modded boxes legally.
The law is: "if you use it, you have to let your cable company know that you have it and are using it".

who was your cable provider... ? I know Time Warner (my provider) has all there boxes programmed and you cannot use any other box..... Even if you purchase a box they will not support it.

My cable company doesn't even give us a box. All they do is activate or disactivate the cable service.

Right now, I am using a small TV-top antenna. I'm not subscribed because I don't really watch TV that much.

Do you know if this will work?

I have Service Electric Cable TV in Pennsylvania.
